This is the original home of deep dish pizza and an absolute must eat. This is by far Chicago's best deep dish pizza I have had and I've tried all the others(no need to name them). Plus, the wings are really really good too! Dining area is small and fills up quick, but we'll worth the wait. If in downtown Chicago, make sure to eat here; can't say that enough. I'll be back for sure next time I'm in Chicago.

Came in on a chilly Thursday afternoon straight from the airport. We were greeted by a very nice server and a bartender. The restaurant wasn't busy. We ordered small pizza Uno ($21.99 as of January 2022) and an appetizer "shrimp and crab dip" ($12.99). They warn you that the pizza takes about 40 minutes to be made and they mean it. Shrimp and crab dip was amazing. Very creamy and served hot. A small pizza is divided into 4 very generous slices, and one was plenty for me. It tasted kinda homemade, which I liked. Overall, good experience and great food!

This was my first time trying Chicago's staple deep dish pizza! UNO's was recommend to me and it lived up to the hype. I'm not sure if they offer reservations, but we were walk ins and we were seated promptly. It was pretty busy for a Monday afternoon. I went in a group of four, so we ordered the large pepperoni deep dish to share. For our appetizers, we ordered wings and fried calamari. I also ordered the pomegranate margarita. Our pizza came out quicker than the expected 45 min wait! Everything was delicious and hit the spot after walking the city all day. The service was also great! It was a fun experience!

I came to Chicago open minded and wanting to try their famous deep dish pizza. I first tried Giordano's stuffed pizza. I was in for a surprise. they use pie dough instead of real pizza dough. A real disappointment. I had to try another place... So I searched for the original place, where it all started: Uno! So instead of a stuffed pizza, they serve real deep dish pizza. Better overall, better toppings, but... Still that pie dough! I will never get why Chicagoans use pie dough instead of real pizza dough. For me, it was better reheated the next day in the microwave, really weird pizza... You still have to try it, it's just not for me.

One of the first Chicago style pizza, if not the first. The deep dish pizza comes in 30-45 min - don’t get a too large pie, it’s most likely to be enough as it is quite thick and dense. You can’t really call this a pizza but it’s acceptable as a savoury crusted pastry. Good by itself and good to try.

So we were in Chicago for a business trip, and we end up getting to the hotel, very late, and most of the restaurants in the area, already closed or about to close. As we randomly walk around the streets of downtown Chicago, we happen to see a place called Pizzeria Uno and decide to stop in to eat dinner since it looks cool And is actually open. To our surprise when we enter, it turns out to be the original location of Uno, and allegedly the original deep dish pizza. The staff were super friendly, and the venue was super cool looking, with a vintage atmosphere. They had a full-service bar as you walk in, and I was surprised to see they had whiskeys such as EH Taylor, Weller, etc. I ordered a double of EH Taylor, which set the mood for the evening. We ordered the Uno special per the recommendation of the staff, and we were actually quite happy with it. We have in the past tried deep dish Chicago pizza from a place that starts with a G, although it was in Orlando, because that’s where we actually lived, and we were not impressed. After eating that deep dish, my wife, and I agreed that we would never eat deep dish ever again, and at the time we only had a couple bites of that soupy pizza and gave the rest to a neighbor. We also had the house made meatballs, which were quite delicious. The deep dish pizza had meatball slices, onions, bell peppers, and pepperoni, along with the hearty tomato sauce and cheese, of course. Service was great, and they were very friendly. The price was reasonable and we were happy. We still prefer New York style pizza, but now we know that Chicago style deep dish is actually edible depending on where you get it.

There are definitely other better Pizzeria Uno locations compared to this. Having said that, it is a very cozy atmosphere with attentive servers. Definitely cramped, outdated and a bit stinky in places. This location is definitely showing its age. Still Pizzeria Uno and the crust of the pizza they have here is one of the best so it’s worth the shot..

Wow I had to wait 45 minutes to get my personal sized deep dish Chicago pizza. After tasting it, it wasn't worth the wait. The bottom was almost burned and the toppings just were blah. I heard about this legendary location - the place where deep dish pizza was invented. The restaurant is a pub (TV on sports all day) with the bar integrated into the dining area. The space is a little tight, service was okay but the cooking time was crazy long. I sat alone and stared outside the window for 45 minutes. Never experienced such a long wait. Good thing I wasn't starving. I might have eaten my arm before the pizza came. Liquor price is cheap but the choices are limited. This location is good for people who want a casual outing with friends without breaking the budget.

My little pizza peanut was adored by the staff tonight she loves pizza, when she started getting impatient the manager spoke in the headset to the kitchen that Bonnie was hungry🤣 to me that was the best response. Another staff member gave my daughter free fries she loved those. Me personally not a huge fan of deep dish it wasn't bad but I just don't prefer the mixing the mozzarella cheese with ricotta. Made half my pizza taste sour like old milk.

For a Sunday evening it was quiet and it suited us. The veggie deep dish is really tasty. The crust is perfectly baked - just enough hardness to give it a slight crunch. Florence’s soup was, a bit on the tart side. But over all nice. I removed one star only because the place looked like a dump. They need to shine it up a bit and make it more inviting.

I couldn't remember if I had this pizza pie before. But after having it I knew that I would have remembered, because it was Delicious! You know, it's funny that My Wife was the one that wanted to eat here that day and now I want to eat here again. The Bartender made it even better by also being Our Server. Keep making those tasty Pies.

Of all the pizza joints in this town. We happen to end up here. Service and food selection was excellent. Our waitress was charming and helpful with offering recommendations. The pizza was so good. Excellent place to have a couple of drinks and food after a day of sight seeing. Highly recommend if you are near by. If ever in town will definitely visit again.

This is by far the best pizza I have had. The birthplace of deep dish pizza. The pizza was so delicious that I even enjoyed eating the crust. This place is a must visit when you ever visit Chicago. The staff was courteous and friendly! Cozy place… great place to rendezvous with friends and family.

Haven’t had deep dish pizza since probably since 2003. Too enjoyable of an experience. Came here with a colleague and we both sincerely enjoyed our pizzas. Staff was great. Pricing was good too for what you get. Part of the Chicago experience

Food ***** Service ***** Ambiance *** Price **** I always rate restaurants based on 3 factors to be fair to the establishment, food, service and ambiance. Food and service are 5 star, I give ambiance 3 stars only because the restaurant is way too small to be comfortable. I would say the pizza is top 5 in the Chicagoland area for thick crust. There are better thin crust pizzas out there. Coming here is always a great experience though, love having their thick crust as a change from thin crust.

The pizza was pretty good. The crust was crumbly like a pie crust, and the toppings were good too. The speed of it coming out of the kitchen was more than slow, though — we waited for an hour on the clock just for 4 personal-size pizzas.

Pizzeria Uno was Established 1943 and was The Birthplace Of Deep Dish Pizza. It was obviously a must for me! Luckily, it wasn’t a far drive. I was just hoping that it wouldn’t be a bad decision. I came here with my significant other and my friend. We were seated almost instantly. I enjoyed the dark lighting they had. To start things off, I ordered a Diet Pepsi and a Pomegranate Margarita. The Diet Pepsi was awesome and included Free Chicago Refills. Every cup of Diet Pepsi I had, was in fact, awesome. The Margarita was fantastic! It was concocted flawlessly in my opinion. For food, I ordered an Ind. Numero Uno Deep Dish Specialty Pizza. It included Extra cheese, an abundance of fresh sausage, just the right amount of pepperoni and fresh mushrooms, onions and green peppers. It was 14.49. The pizza was good for the most part. The sauce and ingredients met together to form a nice taste. I wish the form of the pizza held together better. Besides everything else, they had a photographer come to our table and offered to take our photos. She took two and returned later to show how they came out on prints. We got to keep the first one for free. She offered others, but we declined. The service was exceptional. I was given everything I needed fairly fast. I didn’t have an issue with anything in that field. Overall, I’m glad I went here! It definitely felt like an achievement to eat at The Birthplace Of Deep Dish Pizza. I might even return here again someday. Date of visit: 01/30/24

The pizza was very nice and I love a classic Chicagoan deep dish pizza. The staff was very kind my waiter specifically was super helpful and down to earth. He made various jokes with us and allowed us to move seats multiple times since we wanted a booth. Atmosphere is also really lovely it gives a classic American bar vibe which I really enjoyed.

We were visiting from Florida and locals recommended Pizzeria Uno and we couldn’t be more pleased. The staff was very polite when I placed my to go order online and the food smelled, looked and tasted amazing. Highly recommend. We got the Numero Uno and it had fresh, quality ingredients.

My first real Chicago deep dish. To be honest, it was a be strange at first because the crust is actual pie crust, like an apple pie. I was just surprised. But the pizza was very tasty. This rating from me is actually not fair to be honest because I really don't know how to think of a deep dish pizza. I kept wanting something denser, like a quiche, but it is not dense. Overall it is a tasty pizza but I don't know if I like deep dish.

I ordered cheese sticks and pizza. The cheese sticks are really good. But the deep dish pizza is not my favorite, although the toppings; mushrooms, olives, extra cheese and the sauce, cheese and the sauce are flavorful. Their staff are nice and friendly.

If you want to try Chicago-style pizza, you need to visit Pizzeria Uno. I like that they serve small pizzas and you can customize them to your liking. During our visit, we ordered a half and half pizza. One side was the "Numero Uno" and the other side was the "Four Cheese & Pesto" with an added chicken topping. The pizza was delicious, but the sides were too tough for my liking.

Amazing. Lives up to the hype. Excellent service. Steeped in tradition. Server let us know it would be a wait for the pizza but it would be worth it and it was. Looked and tasted home cooked and had a ton of flavor. It’s a great experience you have to have if you’re in town.

The food was yummy. The wait to be seated was very short. Our waiter was very kind and fast. The portions were huge and the price was really good. $60 for a huge pizza, fries, and meatballs.

I recently dined at a pizza place that's been serving since 1943, recommended by a Chicago-born friend. It lived up to the hype! The deep-dish pizza was a masterpiece, with crispy crust, quality ingredients, and friendly service. A must-visit for pizza lovers.

Was a good experience. Deep dish takes 45-60min to make. A medium size will feed 3 adults easily. Its tasty but still has the flavour profile of standard pizza. The crust was very tasty!

Great place and their deep pizza is a must try. Portion is big and super hot. It could take a long time to make if there’s lots of people.

The place where the deep dish pizza was invented back in 1943, or that's what they told me, proudly too. Good food and jovial, knowledgeable service (I was at the bar). Had the Numero Uno, individually sized. Generous topping of mushroom, onion, sausage, pepperoni, and green peppers. It's definitely more conventional pizza like than soup bowl, despite the presence of the pie dish. Be ready to wait 45m for your pizza since they make them fresh.

First time in Chicago and this place was on all the best pizza list. Had to give it a try. Good choice. Ordered the Numero Uno. Sausage, pepperoni, onions, peppers, mushrooms, Uno's own chunky vine-ripened tomato sauce, mozzarella and romano. My first time eating a real deep dish pizza. Figured out quick you cannot pick it up. It is a fork and knife meal. Packed full of toppings. Hot gooey cheese. Had an Ace pineapple cider to wash it down.

Wait was crazy and the place was so jam packed but the servers did what they had to do to get everybody taken care of! We ended up asking to sit outside and it was really nice! Had about an hour wait on our pizza but it was worth it! Drinks were amazing as well and seating was very nice and quiet outside besides the obvious Chicago noise. This was a great place to add on my stop into Chicago. I will come back next time to try this again!

We went there last month, tried deep dish pizza. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the taste and quality. Pizza sauce felt straight from canned-tomato sauce (NOT cooked a bit) and not seasoned properly, crust was very hard as well. Maybe Pizza pan received heat from the bottom only as a result top part wasn't cooked properly and made crust hard. One should expect some bubble due to Yeast reaction which gives the texture and flavor to the crust, which was completely missing. We also tried Calamari, cooked well but you expect a dedicated sauce with it as you are paying that much, not bottled tomato ketchup which runes the Calamari. I wish you the best.

We went to Pizzeria Uno on a Saturday night for some late night snacks. We had a salad and a dip at the bar and it was just OK. We loved the atmosphere though, and we had a great time checking out all of the cool liquor bottles. The bartender was nice and helpful. I’d like to go back to try the pizza because I’m sure it’s delicious, but our snacks were a bit disappointing.

Came here because it was right around the corner from where we were staying. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait. That did not discourage us from eating here. 10 minutes later we were seated. It was a beautiful day and thought about sitting outside but there were people begging for money from those sitting outside. Food wise it was good, not knock your socks off but just good. The crust was not like regular pizza crust. It was more like a pie crust which to me kinda messed it up. They also go very light on the sauce. Got the salad and it was a big bust. 90% of the lettuce was hard, white pieces. The best part of our meal were the mozzarella sticks.

The original is still the best. This pizzeria uno is the original before it started franchising. If you've ever had a pizza at the franchise Uno Bar & Grill locations, the pizza is different. Here you will wait 35-45 minutes for that famous buttery crust deep dish pizza. It tasted nothing like the chains. If you've never had it here, you're truly missing out.

The real deal for deep dish pizzas, they say they were invented here, their pizza UNO is absolutely delicious, good service, tasty deserts.

I’ve been to Chicago a million times and never tried their FAMOUS DEEP DISH PIZZA. Well I did this past weekend and I don’t know what I’ve been missing. I ordered the Numero Uno (pictured below) and all I can say is YUM! It was just the right amount of sauce to meat to veggie ratio (YES IT MATTERS BECAUSE I AM NOT A HUGE FAN OF RED SAUCE). But let me get to the CRUST….omg it was PERFECT! I cannot describe it nor do I want to give it all away. Just go and try their pizza today. And do not let me forget the freshly prepared Pomegranate Margarita that was DELICIOUS. They do not use the prepackaged mixes and I appreciate them for that. We also ordered the Buffalo Wings and the Shrimp and Crab Dip to go and those both were very good as well. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Chicago.

A gem of restaurant. Great phenomenal deep dish pizza. I can't say enough about their pizza. If anyone ever comes to Chicago you need to go to Uno's Pizzeria.
