We enjoyed our breakfast. Biscuits and gravy were large and very filling. The outside of the biscuits were very crunchy and the inside was very soft and fluffy. Great combination. Very impressed with the butter and jam as well. Kinda shocking, but the jam was very tasteful. Egg white omelette was good but a little undersized. All in all a great breakfast. Would recommend.

First of all, I don’t drink. I’ve been looking for a place that has mocktails that are delicious and not overdone. A lot of places either offer only mixers or add so many different things to the drink that it doesn’t even taste good. That is not the case at the Atwood. I was there today and had 2 pineapple juleps. They were so good! I didn’t feel like an afterthought, I felt like non drinkers were actually thought about in a real way. The bartender, Joel was just as great as the drinks! He’s funny and friendly. He’s quick to pick up on your sense of humor and matches it. He’s great! He also makes a fantastic drink! He’s the type of bartender you can sit at the bar with all night and he’ll make you laugh and feel welcomed. I intend to do that more often. Go to the Atwood, try the julep and hang out with Joel. It’ll be a great time.

The tomato soup came on a dessert plate lol that’s ok, buuuuttt the shrimp po’boy was fried in old grease the worst thing I’ve eaten in a long time. We also went just because the menu we seen online. We got there and the menu was completely different.

Love this place! Gomez the manager is the best! Excellent customer service & great food. I frequent here at least once/twice a week. The grilled spicy buffalo wings are my go-to & the Cubano is delicious. The bar is real laidback & chill -- the bartender Cynthia makes the best drinks! Always a pleasure to be there. Super chill spot, feel like home. Enjoy!

Quit place in an upscale atmosphere. Small dining area inside the hotel off the main lobby. There are not many options for non-alcoholic drinkers. Our service was good. I had the spicy chicken wings. They we spicy and not too hot for those that like spice. My wife got the BLTA. It was an excellent choice, and the fries came in my all tom favorite little basket fryer.

Service was horrible. My husband and I had an awful experience while trying to get a drink at the bar area. We patiently waited to be served, understanding that there was only one bartender, and that it takes time to make cocktails. However, he consistently skipped over us to serve patrons that had arrived after us. After the third time being skipped, we decided it would be better to take our business elsewhere. We had breakfast here also. The food was good, but the service was also very slow. Don’t waste your time here. There are so many better places to eat and enjoy your time.

We got in at 11am. Wanted to order pancakes for my toddler! And they told us sorry breakfast is until 11am. We can not do pancakes anymore! Food was good. Still they could effort more to be nicer and helpful. At least try… Like “ Let me ask the kitchen if they can do those”.

Enjoyed a late lunch and went with the prix fixe “Hamilton” menu. Three course meal for $39. Added a glass of red wine and coffee. The staff was super attentive and friendly. My coffee was lukewarm and I asked if it could be warmed up and I received a piping hot latte.

While the environment feels very high class and the food looks amazing, the taste of it it was quite disappointing. I ordered the tuna, which I thought it would be amazing ( especially for that price) , but the warm food with the tuna on top, just didn't taste right. Very blend taste. Like it needed something. Under basic taste. I would have done a better job at adding more flavor. I would not recommend this.

What a great spot for a drink! My wife had a glass of wine each evening and played cards with my child each afternoon before we went out. Each evening, we had a drink or two upon returning. Great little spot that had me curious about the food, although I didn't get to try it. The bartender was generous with letting me try the draft beers (they were all great). In a town where there's a million places to eat and drink, this is a great oasis. Two thumbs up.

Food was meh. Service was exceptional. Atmosphere was nice. The architecture was neat in some parts of this building. Overall, not a favorite place to dine when in Chicago and wouldn't go back. Mainly because the food just didn't hit the spot. Menu does lack in gluten free and vegan dishes.

The salads here at white but very good! Casual place to grab some good food or drinks.

Not sure why the bar was closed on a Thursday night... The service was terrible. The manager kept telling me someone would come, but no one did so he ended up taking my order. The food was pretty gray. I don’t recommend the burger….Beautiful restaurant and atmosphere, but just terrible everything else.

Excellent food. Better service. The manager went a step ahead to ensure we get the right drink to pair our meals. Despite the unavailability, he made sure we were served well. Location probably commands the premium pricing.

We had a great experience at this restaurant! The waiter had an amazing attitude and made us feel so welcome. The environment was lovely and had a great vibe. The food was absolutely delicious - every dish we tried was fantastic. Best of all, it's very child-friendly, so it's perfect for families!

Decent place to stop for lunch while shopping on State Street. Food was eeh. We had the pineapple teriyaki wings; they were all teriyaki sauce, no pineapple. I had the dip sandwich; again, it was okay. The service was good and this purple drink (desert pear) was the best part of the experience. Overall okay but not itching to go back.

Chic space that’s not very noisy, which I can personally always appreciate. Enjoyed the Prix Fixe menu. Great service. Food delivery was timed just right and hot food was served hot. That might seem basic but so many places really struggle with that these days. Atwood impressed me. Could become a regular here.

We went for a quick bite in between our sets from Verse Immersive Chicago (great fun experience) and we stayed for a more satisfying meal. Cocktails were savory and good mixology. The food was delicious. We shared the Cubano and the Truffle Mac & Cheese - both tasty and zesty in their own way. The Mac was succulenty creamy. The ambiance is simple, beautiful, lively bit not hectic, cosmopolitan stylish fitting to Chicago. The service was fantastic, no rush, and helpful. We enjoyed ourself more than we expected that made us late for the next round of immerse virtual playing, we were given an extension so we will be back and most likely stop for a bite again

Food was excellent. Poorly managed in terms of both service and supplies. The servers were not rude, but are incredibly slow-moving, forgetful and innattentive. I had to ask for my drink 3x. I witnessed frustrated guests at two tables next to me experience the same. Took a long time to get our check. When it was dropped off, it was wrong…Cocktails added to my ticket for the wrong table. There was a theme of non-service-mindedness throughout the whole restaurant. A table next to me asked to speak to the manager who offered only excuses. I ordered the Atwood burger w/fries…the server told me they were out of ketchup?!!! The atmosphere was good but took far too long. For a $30pp lunch service and ketchup should be a given.

The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, and the food was delicious. The menu had a great variety of options and the staff were attentive and friendly. Definitely worth a visit!

Stayed at the Staypineapple Iconic Hotel Chicago for three nights. Visited the Atwood every morning for breakfast and two times for drinks in the afternoon. The Atwood is the hotel downstairs in the lobby of the restaurant. Service and food were amazing. People were very friendly and caring. Love the atmosphere of the restaurant which is right on the corner so you can look out and people watch while eating.

While staying at StayPineapple, my wife and I went to the Atwood twice - once to pickup breakfast to take back to our room, and again for late-night drinks using the hotel's free drink vouchers. For breakfast, we got the breakfast burrito and waffle, and it was SO much food. Your dollar here definitely goes a long way, and to top it off, everything was surprisingly delicious! For the night cap, we got to the bar an hour before closing, and it literally took nearly 45 minutes for the bartender to come speak to us. He wasn't even there until he spoke to us - the only staff in the whole restaurant was cleaning up. All we wanted was to redeem our hotel vouchers for a glass of wine each. We would've gotten a second one if the bar itself wasn't about to close and if the bartender didn't disappear again.

I came here for dinner and ordered their holiday special menu. The restaurant was busy, so I made a reservation with the host for a table set up at 6 pm. I returned to my hotel room while I waited and returned downstairs just in time for my dinner. I sat by the front window overlooking the busy streets with all the shopping areas and holiday decorations. The service was prompt and fast, and I got my food in less than 25 minutes. I ordered the Hamilton Prix Fixe menu and got the house salad, short rib, and brownie a la mode with two red wine glasses. The vibe of the place is chill and casual. This restaurant is convenient if you stay at this hotel and want to avoid dealing with the cold weather outside.

Food was very good. But, If you decide to dine here you better be self sufficient. Service was so terrible it became amusing. It was early in the evening and not crowded. The hostess seated us at a table with too few chairs. But as she walked away she agreed to let us help ourselves to collect more seats from other places in the restaurant. Friendly diners at a neighboring table tipped us off that we need to fend for ourselves. And so our adventure began. We stopped waiting for silverware and napkins and helped ourselves to gather napkins and silverware from other areas of the restaurant. Another waiter was kind enough to offer some tiny cocktail napkins. But I was able rummage around and get proper dinner napkins. When one of our meals arrived incorrect the new server rolled his eyes, disappeared with the plate and never returned. With no staff in sight we resorted to a very long wait at the bar where the bartender intervened and assisted in arranging for the correct meal. Unfortunately, it arrived long after the rest of our table finished eating. Food was good and would recommend the burgers, tacos and cocktails, but overall it felt like a “Survivor” dining experience.

Stopped in for a quick snack. Had the pulled pork street tacos and my wife had the hummus plate followed by the pineapple whip for dessert. Everything was great. Including the service.

Not a large menu, and it doesn't provide many options for dietary restrictions, but the food and drinks we did get were good, and the service was good.

Quirky atmosphere, friendly staff. I got the biscuits & gravy with eggs, and that was just pretty good. I enjoyed my meal! Was it $42 good, B&G/drink/tip? No. But these are Chicago prices, pay to play...and it was tasty & I was treated kindly.

Great place for a Sunday brunch in the Loop or for a nice meal after having visited te nearby Art Institute. They offer all “brunch classics” so everyone in your party will certainly find something that they like. The chicken and waffle and the potato pancakes with pork belly are my favorite!

Great place for a bite to eat (salmon was excellent) with friendly service. Plus, one of the few places in Chicago that makes a whiskey sour the right way -- with egg whites!!!

sometimes you just need to scale up your comfort food, even at fancy restaurants. so I did exactly that. Grilled cheese with pesto and tomato on a chilly night? It was the perfect choice!

Kids menu. Stiff drinks. Good food. The service was stupendous. I appreciate the hospitality and the nice quiet lunch.

So far we have only accessed the front desk and the two bar tenders. All 4 individuals could not have been more helpful, hospitable and friendly. Can't wait to dine here tonight and enjoy their famous eggs benedict tomorrow morning. Other reviews were spot on as far as hosts having an unpretentious attitude while executing superb professionalism. A great start to a stay in the windy city.

A historic venue, with a limited but we'll curated menu-food and drink- with attentive but unobtrusive service, all offered at a very reasonable price. Extra points for the by-the-table e-payment without the card leaving our control-absolutely European!

The pork rib sandwich has no flavor at all. Cherry tomatoes in caesar salad were soft and old. Club sandwich was dry. Would not recommend.

Delicious food decently priced sealed with great customer service. Close to the theaters and stayed respectful of the time, which I appreciated. My mother is hard to please and we both left full, happy and on time for the show!

We have been to Atwood a few times now. It's a great spot in downtown Chicago and open later than other places around. The food has been consistently great. Flavors are spot on. Very fresh tasting and executed perfectly. The Shrimp and Grits are amazing. The service has been really great as well but the bar consistently fails. Saturday night and they can't make cocktails but only serve beer and wine??? That's a big miss. Also have waited over 30 minutes for drinks previously. The Food is great. The tables by the windows are fun to people watch. But don't expect much for drinks or cocktails it's been multiple failures from the bar.

Brody was a truly delightful bartender. My experience here was stellar. He brought great conversation after a long day of travel. Super grateful. And I recommend the Spicy Chicken Sandwich!!!

Service was very slow despite not being overly crowded. Food was good. The gnocchi was great and the salad entree was small, so-so. Charcuterie board was great.

Great place with excellent views and music. Recommend getting reservations as they can book up on the weekend especially. Excellent food and menu options. Looking forward to returning.

The service and cocktails were phenomenal! Unique craft cocktails with knowledgeable bar staff make for a great time! The atmosphere was 4/5, as entry into the bar is kind of a maze & seating is pretty close together.

  • 4/5 Gretchen S. 2 years ago on Google
My 3rd breakfast here, mainly because the lines on the weekends are typically an hour wait. But they provide a coffee station on the sidewalk where you wait to be called. I had one of the specials, the Salmon Benedict. It was great, a healthy piece of salmon, they did not skimp. It wasn't leftover bits of salmon scrambled in the eggs and covered in sauce, it was done right. $15 and very fair for the portion of salmon they gave me. My niece had the Midtown Trio which was 3 of your choices of French toast and/or pancakes (not crepes or waffles). So a good choice to have if you wish you can't make up your mind. My friend had the Neptune Benedict and could only eat half of it. We adults had the Club Atwood. They were tasty and after a generous meal and mimosas, we all had a nap afterwards. Lol.

We stayed at the attached hotel and had lunch and breakfast here. It gets busy so make a reservation. Lunch was good, Bloody Mary excellent, and breakfast was super yummy! We loved the corned beef and hash, poached eggs, thick bacon and good flavors.

  • 3/5 Alecia G. 1 year ago on Google
I live in the area and have been looking forward to trying out Atwood. Unfortunately the hostess was very rude and the waitress was nice but made me feel rushed the entire time. I came here for a solo lunch to sit and read my book but felt uncomfortable doing so. I was the only table in the entire restaurant so I’m not sure what the rush was. Maybe I would have been better off sitting at the bar. Three stars because the turkey club and Caesar salad was really good but I don’t think I’ll return.
