Had a family dinner here, so yummy! The greens were everyone’s favorite, and I liked the Mac and cheese I got to taste off my brother’s plate. The cornbread is so yummy and taste like southern dressing- no butter needed! The salad that came with my beans and rice bowl was honestly my favorite of everything, the garlic dressing is delicious. Looking forward to coming back! It’s right off the metra so easy access to get to, plus street parking.

Stopped in on a bike ride - super cute vegan lunch spot. The orca and tacos (crab cake and BBQ cauliflower) were delicious and the mac & cheese was good considering it was vegan. Would recommend.

The youth in the group didn't like it very much because it was vegan. The adults enjoyed it because they understood vegan and how to order what they liked.

I absolutely love the vibe of both the employees and the space! The hostess and cook were very personable & sweet.. both had amazing energy the entire time I dined inside. The music was a great bonus for my dining experience, too. It was literally just 2 employees, and it got very, very busy! I ordered stir fry, fried okra, and fried green tomatoes. I was soooo stuffed that I had to have the remainder of my food boxed up. The food portions were plentiful, that's for sure... It's worth every penny. I'm from STL and will definitely stop here every time I come in town. Thank you to the ladies who showed me what Majani Soulful Vegan Cuisine was all about. 🥲

Really lovely spot. Beautiful light, communal tables, and delicious food. The kitchen had a lot of orders but the service was lovely as they communicated there might be a little wait. The food was so good, I highly recommend the greens. The black eyed pea burger was well seasoned and not dry like bean burgers sometimes are. Vegan cuisine can sometimes get stuck in the rut of the same few dishes or can be dominated by artificial substitutes, but not Majani. They offer unique dishes and a lot of real ingredients. They also partner with local growers to source produce.

Brought lunch for my mom and I....I spent like $60 for the two of us. I was a like skeptical it first with it being a meat alternative. But to my mom and I surprise it was really good....it taste just like regular food.

The food, the dessert, and the service were all 5 stars! I found this little gem on a whim with the family. Everyone enjoyed it! Being a wfpb vegan for years I’m always elated to find something as close as homemade as possible and this establishment was exactly what! Everything made from scratch and delicious.😋 This will be my go to on every visit to Chicago! Thank you!

Listen...There's nothing like a good "home cooked" meal. The fact that I had so many gluten-free options to choose from is a HUGE plus. Don't sleep on the BBQ cauliflower. 😋 I wish I had placed a 2nd order to eat on the airplane. The ginger lemonade has a HEALTHY dose of ginger in it and it might put a little hair on your chest. Just a little. The sorrel is sooo refreshing. The red beans...❤️ Got me cooking some right now. The sweet potatoes were perfectly sweet with just the right amount of spice. The cornbread tastes like dressing. Which I think is clever. Knowing that he sources produce from local farmers is a big win. The service is top notch. The employees are very nice and accommodating. Knowing Tsadakeeyah was preparing my food just warmed my heart. My new favorite restaurant. I'll be back.

I had been hearing lots of good reviews on the fried grits and have been wanting to try them forever. I finally got to tonight, and they are delicious (10/10, I’d get some of the marinara sauce on the side next time). I also got the jerk burger (7/10, no sauce on it but the flavor was on point), bbq cauliflower (10/10!!), oyster mushroom taco (9/10, so flavorful). I would highly recommend this place & I’m not even vegan. I will definitely be back.

Absolutely amazing. The service is outstanding. This place gives me all the feels! Everything on the menu is delicious. The fried grits and fried sweet potatoes are heaven. Crabcakes and gyro was . This place is definitely in my top 3 for vegan restaurants. They have mastered the art of great food and great service without sacrificing quality and comfort. I will be back for the fried grits and mushrooms.

I’m not vegan, I ordered from Uber because they were listed under black owned restaurants. Figured I’d give it a shot. These tacos are the best tacos I’ve ever had! Seasoned to perfection. I will be ordering again!

Personal chef for 30 years, vegan for as long.I have travelled the world and can say this kitchen serves up the some of the best vegan in the midwest. . Expertly prepared and served hot. Don't miss out on a slice of the delicious vegan cupcakes and cake.. Lovely small dining room. They are always rockin the call in orders as it is a community hub. Sweet staff and prompt service all 8 times I have had the pleasure to dine here. The owner chefs are giving vegan food a good rep. A class of their own. The vegan cheese stands alone.. .Majani! .

Horrible and lousy service. Outrageous prices. Dirty glasses and silverware- manager got aware and said "oh, need to go to the dishwasher". Wow, so you serve dirty glasses to quests? They need lots of improvement. Never again.

I've seen great reviews about this restaurant so when I was in Chicago 2 months ago I took the bus almost an hour from where I was staying to try it. The food was definitely worth the commute....very flavorful soulfood from the collard greens, to the black eye pea fritters, to the mac and "cheese" to the cupcakes...scrumptious vegan soulfood!

I wish I had pictures but I always eat my food way too fast 😭. Yes, it's that delicious. I'd recommend during this "new normal" calling in or ordering online and still anticipating the possibility of waiting a little longer. Everyone is a bit behind schedule these days so try to show as much grace as possible. We work so hard to create our businesses and I can only imagine how much more difficult the stress of two whole pandemics can add. Please support as often as possible. I love the healthy and delicious options at Majani's!

Portion and a half of B&G. 2 eggs on the main plate, along with a hot chocolate. Gravy for the biscuits & gravy isn't overly peppered. Not spicy, either. You may want a bit more gravy to cover the biscuits good and mixed. The atmosphere is good. The food is as well. Been here a couple of times so far. Not a place to be overlookeed as weekend spot for a good bite.

Our pancakes were on point, but the eggs benedict and egg sandwich left a lot to be desired. The hash browns were good too! We did take it to go so that might be part of it, but I think I had higher hopes overall. It was not awful for the price, but could have been better.

The panqueques were the most beautiful in the world and the only thing that could be the result of internal growth is that the people they were letting go of are the same way to get them to do it. I think I might be able to get a few more than just a couple. If you don't want to be left the same way as the news of the day you are going to have to be signed up to the point. You can also use the same thing to make sure you are who you are who you surround yourself with. If I don't get you a date and time for that then you can go to the next days of the year! At the same time, its been a while since we have a new place in the world. I am not necessarily looking for a different day to be a part of this process but if you reschedule your call to the next day or two of the time you are available to meet with me and you can't even put the details on the couch and then you have to go out and get a chance to see me and I will be glad to

One of the rare breakfast places where they serve egg Benedict on a croissant 🥐 and It’s so delicious, topped with avocado and shiitake mushrooms. Didn’t like the Nutella waffle because it’s tastier when bananas are fresh and not caramelised.

The food I've had here has been pretty good. I LOVE those cauliflower wings! Omg really good dinner too (the one you have to call in to find out what it is). Can't remember the name of that red juice they make, but that was good as well. Good falafel wrap and burger. I didn't care too much for the jerk tofu. Try the taco salad. I also like the look and feel of inside the restaurant. Good place to go in the afternoon for lunch and to just take your laptop with you. Gives me cafe vibes.

This experience would be a hard NO for me! I ordered through their app. It said my food would be ready at 1:15 pm. I got there about 1:25 I'm and had to wait until 1:50 pm to get my food. The young lady didnt out a fork in my bag, so I had to turn around and drive back to get one. Now starving, I try my mushroom taco and it was terrible. The mushroom was heavily battered and over fried way too hard!. It had no seasoning and was flavorless!. I was give it a ZERO! I struggled to eat one, then threw the other one away! (The 2nd pix posted is the one I threw away.) I was highly irritated because I spent $37 and I was clearly not worth the money or the effort! The only reason I am scoring a 2 is because the BBQ cauliflower was very good!

I went here for the first time and I will definitely be coming back! Their food is delicious and their menu has some really creative things on it. The atmosphere is so welcoming and the staff is fun and friendly. This place is a gem. It would take an hour or so for me to get there during city traffic but I’d happily subject myself to that madness for some good food. Then I can explore the city with a smile on my face.

We try to limit our meat intake so we decided to try this place. The barbecue cauliflower was so delicious we had to order two! It’s light and crispy and full of flavor. I also had the breakfast vegan tacos which would have been better with the guacamole they were out of this day. The tacos and burrito were a bit dry and could use some sauce or dressing. The pancakes were very light, fluffy and buttery! We also tried the peach cobbler, which was amazing! I would have given them 5 stars had they not been out of guacamole! Overall, a great place to try if your into vegan food and flavors!

I finally got the opportunity to order from this vegan cuisine during a break in biking along the Chicago Lakefront Trail (restaurant is 2 blocks away from 0 mile marker trail). The staff are friendly and kind. One staff tried to fingerspelling in sign language. The food offers diverse cuisine as a comfort soul food. First, appetizer, I recommend the black eye peas fritter with plum habanero or the flavourful BBQ sauce. I loved the crab cake wrap, which is made of soft tofu coated with southern spices with veggies and wrapped in a really good gluten free wrap. We selected homemade pita gryo veggie with the flavorful thin sliced tofu "steak" and housemade tzatziki sauce. I would've liked all the filling inside the gyro or on the side for me to fill inside gyro instead of on top. Also more tzatziki for flavor. This includes side of delicious baked sweet potatoes wedges with both entree, which is a must! Also, they have amazing fresh juices full of veggies and fruits that you don't see often such as red cabbage and kiwi. Lastly, a small treat, sweet potato cookie! It is tasty and moist. So, if you want to order, you need to do it online because they are super busy with limited staff and no sit-down (COVID-19 rules). If you show up to order, expect a wait of almost one hour. Because it is really popular!

Placed an order with uber eats. It arrived late, minus the side salad. When I called majani's to inquire, I was told they ran out of salads. When I asked about compensation, I was told "For what? We ran out!" Great customer service...😡

Possibly the best vegan food in Chicagoland! That's saying a lot. You can get amazing vegan grub all over the city, but not with the same home-cooked, soul-warming heartiness as Majani. The fried grits are to die for and the jerk tofu might just make you come back to life. This isn't just food. It's music. 🍽 🎶

  • 1/5 Shana S. 3 years ago on Google
Outside of my first visit, every other time had been trash. Today was the last straw when I sat and watched the cook pick over which piece of 'cornbread' to place on the grill to warm it for my greens. I asked the cashier why he would do that and the answer was so that it could cook completely, and she turned to confirm this by asking him and he had the nerve to seem offended!!! How sway!? I'm just asking because I have to eat this food. Fast forward, i make it home, take the food out of the bag, the bread is not only barely warm, it's still raw in the middle...so, I'm done!!!

Worth the 40 minute drive! Majani has some of the tastiest vegan fare I’ve eaten, and I have enjoyed vegan meals at restaurants all over the world. The young lady at the counter was sweet, helpful, and patient while I tried to make a choice, too many yummy menu items... We finally settled on the mushroom tacos, falafel wrap, bbq cauliflower bites, a side of mac n cheese, two turtle brownies, one sweet potato cookie with icing, and two fresh pressed juices offered in glass containers made by Bani’s Beets, a local source. We walked around the neighborhood while we waited for our to-go order and when we returned, the chef was finishing up his magic cooking in the kitchen which is open, clean and organized. Our bellies are content and we have plenty of leftovers for later! Thank you to the creators of this fantastic restaurant. They have a great mission and I encourage everyone to support them! We will be back!

Called in an order, and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. When I got there they claimed they couldn’t find it. Then, the girl Tamika that took my order over the phone just “happened” to leave. How do you take an order and forget to put it in? Was told I’d have to wait an additional 30-45 minutes to place a new order. Heard good things about this place, however, they seem very disorganized. Obviously they lack basic communication and customer service. Had high hopes for this black owned business. Never again.

I had the oyster mushroom tacos and side of greens The greens were fine I did enjoy them The tacos........ were the friggin bomb! I was trying the food out since I happened across the location while running errands few weeks ago I've wanted to try vegan soul food for some time so I was happy to have found this place Issue: The menu is taped to the window in the doorway That doesn't allow for a comfortable reveiw or decision making because people are passing back and forth while everybody's trying to maintain social distance Service was okay....seem like they're still getting accustomed to this new CoVid-19 setup It wasn't exactly smooth But I did enjoy the tacos Had I eaten them hot I might've gone right back for more (joke) 2 tacos w/sweet potatoes fries (???) And greens 16 oz (pint size plastic container) Total $18.47

I had high hope for this place. Majani is a 100% vegan restaurant. They have a myriad of choices. The restaurant looked clean, wat small or than the pictures online but that's not a big deal. The service was pretty food we had a nice waiter. He was pleasant and patient. The food was not the best vegan food I've had. I ordered the lunch special. The jerk tofu tasted...well gross, the mac and cheese needs work and the yams were too tart. Not to mention they didnt have at least 5 of the items on the menu. The prices seemed about right for vegan food. On the plus side they did have vegan desserts. I didn't try one. Over place needs a bit more work on some of the recipes, but not a bad start.

Food was great, but was really impressed by the staff. Everyone was very friendly and truly seemed to enjoy being there and genuinely happy the customers were there.

It's obvious they aren't taking COVID seriously here. The restaurant and waiting area was jammed well beyond the limits to be able to maintain proper distancing, staff weren't wearing masks right, ... I can't imagine eating here again for a really long time.

Take out as well as curbside pickup. Dine in with social distancing available. So many delicious options to choose from on the menu. Homemade soup(s) daily. They even have a smoothie bar.

Amazing service and food. Big fan of this place. Only issue is people using the parking lot for the church next door, making it difficult to find parking.

Good food made from scratch! Delicious and Soul satisfying. My favorites are the Greens and Cornbread, BBQ Cauliflower and the Fried Mushrooms. My son loves the Gyro. And it's all plant based. Yay!

Wonderful little place. There are a lot of vegan restaruants in Chicago, but this one truly stands out. Even if vegan food isn't your first choice, I guarantee you'll find something here you'll love. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. I know I'll be back soon!

i’ve given this place a chance multiple times, and ITS NOT good ! only people that eat here, DONT know good food. It’s bland, not good at all! the cake is decent and so is the juice.

The FOOD IS GREAT! I'M HOOKED on the Oyster Mushroom Tacos ...and in the last 2 months, I've probably ordered them atleast 10 times!! So yummy and flavorful. I'd like to try everything else on the menu eventually but for now....these tacos are a HIT. The cauliflower ones are VERY GOOD as well!! My only tiny complaint is...the phone is busy at times and u can't get through, You have to keep calling or put in an online order. But otherwise good is amazing!

The cozy vegan resturant has left the best impressions! Hospitable host, delicious dishes (BBQ Cauliflower) and beautiful presentation. I recommend to everyone!

The food was OK to good. I liked the fried okra and the oyster mushroom tacos. The combo platter with greens, beans and cornbread was ok, but not worth the price of $19. And I had to return because they forgot the cornbread. But the biggest challenge is the man at the front counter. He has no people skills and was barely attentive at all. The chef in the back was friendlier and redeemed the experience a bit. This turned my 4⭐️ into a 3⭐️.

Vegan deliciousness all rolled up into one at this cozy one of a kind gem on the SouthSide! From the customer service to the food, everything we had was an A++. I got the collards, sweet potatoes, Mac &cheese, & substituted the BBQ cauliflower for the jerk tofu. Definitely returning to get the fried okra, fritters, and more of the battered cauliflower! Great job, putting love into your food, Majani team…we felt and tasted all of it!

Honestly, best restaurant in all of South Shore, my friends took care of me! The bbq cauliflower *chefs kiss*, it was crispy, not to sweet not to tangy! I also had the oysters mushrooms, BAYYBEEE perfect! Last but not least the soul food bowl… with each bite I thought I was back home with my grandmother!

So glad i stopped in! the black bean fritter tacos were well-cooked, well-seasoned, just delicious and the sweet potato side was well-cooked. seemed like the chef/owner was there, he and a server were so nice! i’ll definitely be coming back and bringing friends with me.

Solid vegan place in an area that doesn't have so many of those. Well worth trying if you're in the area.
