Update: 4.1 stars...potatoes were a bit dry and no gravy. Ground veal was a bit bland. Heavy, filling and tasty Polish food. Reasonably priced. Soups are huge. Great polish rye on table. Cutlets are plate sized. Highly recommend this place for comfort food. Borchst soup is ok, but others better. Bathroom plain but clean. Probably handicapped accessible, entry threshold is about 3"...byob. Dinner for two was $36 w/tip.

Good Polish food. For small place they have quiet variety of dishes. Everything was fresh and tasty. Bit of a surprise prices! Never pay so much for Polish food!

Here's the place to get a plate of authentic Polish fare. We had the fried pork cutlet and chicken gizzards. I also ordered Borscht and potato pancakes. The borscht was so good! The main dishes came with two salads, one being a wonderful cucumber salad and the other a mixed vegetable salad. The main dishes also are accompanied by mashed potatoes and fresh bread. Give this place a try. I loved the service and of course I loved the food!

We LOVED this place. Authentic, home made Polish food. This is a new must do for us when in Chicago!

Absolutely spectacular food. Everything was delicious. When asked, the owner/server offered enlightened recommendations. Food was delivered aesthetically and with outstanding timing (not too quickly, not too slowly). Generous portions. Comfortable tables, chairs, and lighting. Warm ambiance. Free parking just outside the door.

Ok. Wow.. absolutely five star food. This is the food your Polish Grandma will make you if she REALLY loves you. Like.... Clear favorite. And it's decorated like her basement. But it's served to you by your bitter uncle who resents never marrying and instead he takes care of his ailing parents. But lemme tell you. This place is the the shiznit food wise. Will make your entire body feel better. The Silesian dumplings are incredible. Like mochi made from potato. The potato pancakes are addictive. Even the coleslaw is better than it aught to be. I'll be back for sure.

Delicious Polish food and friendly service. I got the Hungarian goulash stuffed pancake. The atmosphere was lovely. It was 20 degrees out and I felt like I was in an Alpine lodge!

I love Polish food- I lived in Poland most of my life and started feeling homesick. And I wanted my partner to try some good Polish food. It was good, he really enjoyed his meal but my food did not seem to taste as good as what I grew up on- it might be the American ingredients or me not being accustomed to someone else makes.

I’ve tried the pierogi, the breaded pork, among other things multiple times….the friendly owner always delivers. Cute, quaint, little restaurant I found out about because of the television program, Check, Please! Just like the panel of reviewers, I love this place. Check it out!

My sister was visiting from out of town and insisted we get pierogis because she can’t get any good ones where she lives. We have tried a few different places over the years when she has visited and this was our first time trying Smak-Tak. It definitely won’t be our last! We got the stuffed cabbage rolls, mushroom & sauerkraut pierogis, and potato & cheese pierogis. Everything was delicious! The cabbage rolls were the best I’ve ever had. They were perfectly stuffed and kept their shape nicely after cutting into them. The pierogis were both super tasty—perfect dough, well filled, perfectly cooked, and very flavorful. I think this will be my new go-to whenever she’s in town… and even when she’s not. Highly recommend!

Came in today and had an amazing experience. Service was fast and friendly, food was amazing. I live in Texas but will definitely be returning just for this gem of a restaurant.

As soon as I walked into Smak-Tak, I felt like I was back in Poland visiting friends at the local restaurant. The food tasted very authentic and the menu has all of the Polish staples. Definitely bringing friends here sometime soon.

Loved the food. My only regret is that we didn’t eat there (I picked up)—the place is amazingly and perfectly old world. We had the stuffed cabbage, hunters stew, and Hungarian pancake. A little pricey but worth it—everything was so good!

Food was OK. Pork Cutlet reminded me of dark times of communism when lunch ladies from our schools cafeteria used to steal meat deemed for kids. Our Schabowy cutlet was a mixture of razor thin, battered to oblivion meat drowning in tons of Panko. This one was a exactly the same bring in a flood of bittersweet childhood memories. Dear owner If I ever want to reminiscent about eating 2 lbs of oily panko I will take a short trip down memory lane instead.

Excellent Polish food and it’s byob. The breaded pork cutlet and potato pancakes, among other items, were delectable. The service was great - we had a very nice and attentive server. Can’t wait to go back!
