The Crown Fountain is a interactive fountain and video sculpture located in Millennium Park. The water operates from May to October intermittently cascading down the two towers and spouting through a nozzle on each tower's front face. This fountain is a popular spot too cool off for all ages from children too adults especially on warm days. I have been here a few times while visiting Chicago and find this fountain very unique interesting and fun. Would definitely come back here again when I am in Chicago. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Artist Jaume Plensa designed this lovely fountain. It has over 1000 faces of local Chicagoans and spouts water from their mouths like digital gargoyles. Super family friendly and a fun little oasis in Millennium Park.

Let me tell you about my recent visit to the Crown Fountain, it a splash-tacular experience! First things first, this place is a true gem nestled in the heart of the Windy City. You simply cannot miss the striking glass towers that make up this fantastic fountain. As soon as I laid eyes on it, I knew I was in for something special. The best part? The interactive feature! Two massive LED screens showcase the faces of Chicagoans, smiling and goofing around. It's like they come to life! The moment the water starts gushing out of their mouths, it's pure magic. Kids and adults alike couldn't resist running and playing in the refreshing spray, bringing laughter and joy to everyone present. Now, let me tell you, the ambiance around Crown Fountain is contagious. People from all walks of life gather here, creating an incredible sense of community. It's the kind of place that breaks down barriers and brings people together, even if just for a few moments. I couldn't help but smile at the sight of strangers-turned-friends, sharing a laugh as they dodged the water spouts. Speaking of dodging, let's talk about the surrounding area. Millennium Park, where Crown Fountain resides, is an urban oasis. Lush greenery, stunning art installations, and the iconic Cloud Gate sculpture (you know, that shiny bean thing!) make it a must-visit destination. Soak up the sun, have a picnic, or simply take a leisurely stroll—it's all right there, waiting for you. I must commend the maintenance crew because this place is always squeaky clean! The water is crystal clear, and the surrounding grounds are well-kept. It's evident that the city takes great pride in maintaining the beauty of this spot, and it truly shows. Crown Fountain is an absolute must-see when you're in Chicago. It's a vibrant, interactive masterpiece that will leave you with a smile on your face and memories to cherish. So grab your swimwear, join in the fun, and make a splash at the Crown Fountain—it's a five-star experience you won't want to miss!

The original splash pad before they were a thing (I think?). Two 50ft LED towers show faces with a reflecting pool in between. Water pours from the top of the towers and is beautiful in the sun. Periodically the faces spray water out of their mouths. Great place for people watching. If you have kids, they will love running around and splashing in the water. They can run up to the towers or through the spray to get soaked. It gets pretty busy in the summertime.

Always lots of fun to hang out. Just take a walk through to cool off or wait for the wind to get you with a little water.

Spitting fountain exhibit with changing faces! The crown fountain during the day acts as a water fountain to cool off kids to beat the heat in Millennium Park. As the sun is about to go down, it lights up and showcases various faces and expression while appear to show water coming from the mouths of this featured in the exhibit. Very neat! Photo ops!

This is a digital fountain or a video sculpture cum public art in the Millennium Park in downtown Chicago. There is a shallow reflecting pool between the glass tower blocks of 50 ft height. These two towers display the images of Chicago residents from different fields. The water flows through an outlet from the LED screen and it looks like it is coming from the projected mouth of various personalities. However, we didn’t see this feature of fountain, as it was not operational when we visited in the first week of May 2022. There are different 1000 images of Chicago residents whose images are being displayed. The fountain operates during the certain part of the year but the digital images are being displayed all around the year. This is a nice place to hangout and relax and escape from the summer heat. There are many photo opportunities around here. The kids can enjoy in the fountain waters. Unfortunately, I couldn’t recognize these faces. The faces look somewhat creepy, sad and weird. Without the fountain, only faces look out of place. The display time seems too long and it should be shortened. The sad faces should be replaced by happy and smiley faces.

Really good for kids, especially on hot summer days. I recommend bringing a towel and sunscreen, because it can get very hot. The faces are cool and every certain time the spout on the screens mouth will spew water on the kids, which makes a really good photo opportunity 👌.

Neat art installation. It’s winter time now so the fountain is turned off but it’s still a really cool place to see and experience. Love exploring and finding unique places like this.

Millennium Park is great place to walk and spend time with family and friends! It was a fun afternoon and a beautiful park with a amphitheater and art everywhere! It has the awesome Silver Bean, at least that's what it looked like to me! There was an awesome wall with a live shot of persons face! They would smile and blink their eyes! Then they would blow with thier mouth, a hole near the middle of their month and water would shot out, it was AMAZING! And fun for the kids to stand under! So much fun! Watch the video! Very interesting art piece!

Crown Fountain is a popular tourist spot in the Millennium Park of downtown Chicago. There are two huge rectangular box like fountains on either end of the area. The fountains display the face of a person seen via LCD. Water falls from the fountains like rain, and from time to time a big jet of water gushes out from the "mouths" of the faces. Specially children love this very much and they run around the fountain and become drenched in the cascading water. There are benches for any observer to sit and wait. The only deficiency is that there is no changing room, so the drenched dresses of the children have to be changed in the open, which may not be acceptable to all.

Beautiful park with many different areas. The "bean" was dirty and too crowded, but overall, its a wonderful place to visit. Excellent views of the city

Walking around, taking in the city skyline and all of the wonders of the park was so much fun we visited twice! And we will be coming back again! The bean was under construction.

This was an oasis on a hot and humid Chicago day. Our kids loved playing the water and it was a beautiful sight seeing the diversity of kids playing together.

These water fountains are so amazing. At one point in time they spray water out viciously to the children that are enjoying all the water play. Love this on a hot day. Great experience wonderful memories.

Great place to get out in the city with the kids. We also took some great pics for my son's IG page. Nice place to let the kids get wet too!

Fun place for the kids. The huge LED screens that shows different faces may seem a bit creepy to some people, but I thought it was an interesting touch. If the weather is nice, wear boardshorts or clothes you don't mind getting wet in to play around in the splash pool.

Beautiful fountain. We went here on a friday afternoon, the place gets packed as it gets to the evening. When we went, there was a music concert going on because of which there was a lot crowd and we had to get in a queue to get in but the crowd cleared pretty quickly. The park is huge, we went to the crown fountain, buckingham fountain and the bean within an hour. There is a coffee place and a restaurant right next to this fountain and under the bean.

There are thousands of people here all the time, however not many eateries and other amenities for families with kids are easily available nearby. The kids loved the water fountain they had a good time . The worst part is the long line and waiting before entering the park. It was a bit chaotic.

Crown Fountain at Millennium Park is a reflecting pool that is only a few inches deep. You can take off your shoes and socks and splash around and wait for the large fountains on each end to spit water on everyone. The faces on each tower change every 30 seconds or so. Fun for the entire family.

Very cool park, fountain and finally got to see the Bean. The park is clean and there are refreshment stands and security everywhere. The fountain is a great addition to see because they have different digital faces that shoot out water. Be prepared to wait in line just to get in but it is free. There was a free concert that night so that might have been the reason for the line. Definitely a must visit while in Chicago.

Cool installation that allows you to walk around in the water. Nice to stop and take shoes off on a hot day, and walk around to enjoy. There are different faces that light up and intermittently water shoots out. Fun for the kids to give them a break from the sight seeing.

Was here before in June and it was a better experience because there is water that shoots out of the mouths of the people in the pics. This time I visited in March and the water is turned off to avoid freezing in the pipes. My suggestion....if you are visiting do so after April.
