Just popped in to see the lobby - as did others, so don't feel weird about it. Beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright lobby! There's so much light and the stairs are beautiful. Make sure to turn around and see the cantilevered ones over the entrance. Worth a stop in. I was able to pop in even driving through and found a street parking spot less than a block away. And make sure to poke through the options - the meter will make it look like you pay $7 or nothing, but I was able to only put 15 minutes on it for about $1.50, so don't be fooled.

What a stunning piece of architecture.Anyone can pop inside the lobby and look around for free. But I highly recommend taking The Rookery tour by the FLW Trust if you love architecture. We learned a lot about the building itself and how Frank Lloyd Wright was eventually involved in the designs of the lobby. The details and thoughts put in the work is simply amazing. There is so much light and beauty inside the building.Check out the Ornate staircases inside and the huge glass dome inside the building. And make sure to take a look at the only open pillar of the original building left uncovered by a marble facade.Even the building pillars are a piece of art.

Signed up for a guided tour for $15. All proceeds from the tour goes towards the fund. The tour guide was very educated about the history of the building and Chicago. Got to go up the stairs to take some beautiful photos. Well worth the fee.

The Rookery Building in Chicago is a wedding photographer's paradise. Its luxurious and grand architecture creates an atmosphere of timeless elegance that serves as the perfect backdrop for romantic photos. The intricate detailing, spiral staircases, and ornate ironwork make every corner of this venue a work of art. In a city renowned for its architectural wonders, the Rookery Building stands out as a symbol of Chicago's rich heritage. As a wedding photographer, I can confidently say that it consistently delivers breathtaking images that capture the essence of love and romance. I cannot wait to return to this venue. What a marvelous building. I was able to get to the top floor of the building, and I was all by myself, so I had ample time to take photos from multiple angles. Love how beautiful the stair is. If you are there to do photography, put your camera on panorama mode or bring wide angle lens to capture the whole beauty.

Tourists can enter the first floor lobby and review two poster boards describing history of the building and the remodels. A pillar is exposed without the marble facade to show the original designs. Beautiful!

Historic and beautiful office building. The elevators work and are quick, staff is friendly, and common building spaces are kept clean. The higher floors are nice and quiet and offices receive a good amount of natural light. Most of the amenities are marketing. The "partner gym" is $1300 up front + 140/mo. The rooftop patio and Burnham library are locked 24/7.

Beautiful architecture! Built in 1888. There is a gallery inside portraying Frank Lloyd Wrights work. He redesigned the 2 story, sky-lit lobby in 1905.

What a stunning building. I’m thankful they allow for visitors to take in the beauty of this place. The second floor isn’t open to the public so you won’t be able to explore the suspended stairwell.

This is an absolutely stunning building. I went during my university trip to the city and we were able to walk around the building and ask the tour guides questions. The spiral staircase was azing to see in person. There is a cute but small FLW gift shop.

This was one of my favorite tours while in Chicago.

One of the oldest buildings in Chicago Loop. The entrance to the lobby is free and it's really worth it.

The interior architecture is great that you can simply walk into from the salle Street entrance.

They allow you to go inside this beautiful building and the interior was redone by Frank Lloyd Wright. They even show different styles and what it looked like prior to his redesign. There is a neat little store there for Frank Lloyd Wright things as well.

Very beautiful building inside and out especially the lobby. If you visit take your time and read the history of the architecture of the building on the inside .My personal opinion it looked nicer before Franks Lloyd Wright rehabbed the lobby.

The oldest skyscraper still standing in Chicago incase you didn't know. It's also incredibly beautiful and if you are a Frank Lloyd Wright fan this is an added treat to any Chicago trip. I highly recommend taking the Frank Llyod Wright foundations tour of the building as it includes entry into the library where the world trade fair of 1893 was created. So much history and architectural history and beauty all in one beautiful building.

If you are going just to tour the lobby on your own, make sure to check out the information posters located beneath the double spiral staircase to learn the history. Just imagine, that beautiful atrium skylight was once tarred over and now it's been restored! The man at the reception desk was very friendly and welcoming when I asked to look at the lobby. Thank you.

The Rookery building is considered to be the first skyscraper on which new materials and engineering were implemented, which pathed the way of building high rises we see today. Therefore, it was high on our list to visit. However, our visit turned out to be a big disappointment. Pretty much, my impressions are the same as the fellow traveler below. After an unwelcoming greeting of the front staff you're allowed to visit only the ground floor (the famous staircase cannot be seen from there). We tried to book a tour, but the office was closed with no info. There were other tourists as well, who left the bldg the same way we did - disappointed. It appeared to be a 5 min visit.

Historic, classic Chicago School architecture. Designed by Burnham and Root. Lobby remodeled by Frank Lloyd Wright. Chicago architecture at it's finest. A must visit on your next architectural tour... even if you've seen it a dozen times.

Really enjoyed the tour of the building, all the little details and stories were fantastic.

All I wanted to do was see the lobby. I read about it, wanted to see it. We got there, no signs or anything on the door.... We go in(my wife and I). I'm barely able to take one picture(of the wall...) And arr told we need to leave, that there is a wedding.... Nowhere near where we were, nowhere near where we wanted to just take a couple of pictures... But, we needed to leave... A historic building, beckoning tourists... Snobbish, that's the best word to describe it. The only reason it didn't get one star is because I still like the building and they didn't stop me from taking pictures of the front of it......

The Rookery is one of Chicago's art deco jewels. The original design was by the legendary firm of Burnham & Root from the 1880s and an interior lobby renovation was then executed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1905. This early skyscraper is notable not only for its architectural pedigree, but also for being the oldest surviving high-rise in Chicago. It got its unusual name from pigeons and ravens nesting on the building that used to stand on the lot where the Rookerie was built. On the 11th floor is a stunning library. Taking a tour (from Chicago's Architectural society) is worth while for any visitor or Chicagoan interested in the city's history and art.
