Better than expected tour! Lots of fun and cool to be in a Frank Lloyd Wright original. Tour guide was awesome.

It was a great experience! We were lucky and had a great guide with a huge passion for Frank Lloyd Wright. I also really like The audio guide.

We were the only two on our tour, and our guide was fantastic. Fascinating mixture of engineering and art; the integration of the two is everything one expects from a Wright home. Even the shadows cast by the lighting fixtures were envisioned to create an image... amazing detail. Finished in 1910, it remains modern; can you believe it has central vac? All the renovations were done very well. Why not the last star? It's missing most of the furnishings, which were specifically designed for this exact home. Even exact reproductions could be created, so much is known of the designs. It 💯 deserves to be put back into as much of it's original state as possible! Come on UoC! We know you have the skills and the people to do it!

Quality tour! Besides the details and thoughtful design in the house, our docent Chris also told us a little about the Robie family and their interactions with FLW. Be sure to have your tickets, electronic or paper handy. We had our time right and day wrong, but the nice folks at the Trust helped us switch around. Kudos for the whole outfit! Great giftshop, too!

Great FLW example. Ticket was costly, but the cost goes to restoration. Visiting this house inspired us to buy a book of his builds and visit as many as we could on our journey home. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and the tour was engaging.

Our guide was entertaining and informative, and we loved that we got to look at the architectural details close up. Our favorite part of the house was the hidden front door (wish I had one of my own), and the gold light fixtures with the plates that cast shadows when the lights hit them just so. We used a Go City pass, so the price was great. We do wish we had toured through the kitchen and servants' quarters, but assume that isn't part of the tour for some reason.

This was a fantastic tour! I love Frank Lloyd Wright and have visited multiple FLW sites. I would recommend booking this tour online. The guided tour of the house took about a hour and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. He explained the Prairie style of architecture very well and how the Robie House fit into this style. The tour of the house included all 3 levels and multiple rooms. Do not expect a fully furnished house; the emphasis is on the architecture. After the house tour, I took the self guided walking tour around the area (University of Chicago). The self guided tour lasted about 30 minutes and was done using audio phones. The self guided tour focused on other buildings and how their style compared to the Robie House. The gift shop is very well stocked but seemed overpriced BUT the funds do support FLW properties.

Loved my visit and highly recommend if you are an architecture lover! The indoor tour is great and covers the exterior of the house as well. Suggest getting tickets ahead of time.

Great tour of the inside. There is also an expanded tour that also does outside, but we didn't feel it was necessary. The inside tour is about 90 min. There are restrooms available. Frank Lloyd Wright designed a home near University of Chicago. The tour guide was knowledgeable and extremely versed in the history. It's great that a volunteer cares so much. Inside is in great condition. Only a little furniture so mostly it is an empty house. But that allows focusing on the building rather than decorations.

Such a great experience! We had a guided tour then a self guided tour around the area. The tour of the house was really interesting and lasted about an hour. The self guided tour lasted about 30 minutes and was done on small phones walking around the local area looking and learning about other properties. The gift shop seemed quite overpriced but the funds go to the house. The card machine was down when we were at the house. I would recommend booking online.

Cool to see but a bit small and missing dining room furniture and kitchen in normal tour

Awesome house. The tour is super worth it! The FLW foundation has made a really great effort to keep and refurbish it. The prairie style at it's best. Definitively a must.

I am so happy I decided to take the tour of the Robie House. I've always been a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture but I never knew what went into it until taking this tour. I learned so much about his process. A huge shout out to Rachel our tour guide, she was well educated about the house & was super enthusiastic...you could tell she liked giving these tours. Make sure to make your reservations early, this is a popular tour!

My favorite of the Prairie-style homes we've visited. Absolutely stunning. Our docent was very knowledgeable and well-spoken. The tour does not include the kitchen or the second floor patio balcony. There are a lot of stairs, so if you have bad knees or a handicapped person in your party, this may not be a good tour for you. We were surprised that the self-guided outdoor tour was mostly about the other buildings on campus. If you don't care about these other buildings, just buy tickets for the home tour.

Incredible design, great tour. Not to be missed. The surrounding neighborhood and the University of Chicago are also an interesting walk.

This was my third Frank Llyod Wright experience and it did not disappoint!! Wright’s architecture never fails to amaze me. The guides are so knowledgeable and excellent at explaining different aspects of his style. Walking through the house is such a unique experience, photos could never capture it well. The price was a little high for me, but it was money well-spent. I would visit a second or third time; there’s so much more to learn and take in. This is a must see!

This house is over 110 years old, but the design is so timeless that you'd never know it. What a beautiful house! Our tour guide gave us lots of great architectural facts and plenty of time to take it in...and take pictures. Worth the price of admission!

Beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright designed home built in 1910. Recently restored to its original glory, this tour was interesting ans insightful. Make sure you stroll around the University of Chicago campus before or after the visit. Lots of good architectural sightseeing in that are.

A very good example of Frank Lloyd Wright's work. Absolutely beautiful styling and architecture. It is easy to see the detail he put into his work.

Fantastic! Restoration on the house is amazing. This house is a treasure that everyone should visit. Even my husband, who doesn’t usually enjoy this sort of thing, gave this tour an A+! Mary, our tour guide was great! Be sure not to skip the audio tour of the history and architecture of the neighboring buildings. Definitely a 5 star experience!

Super awesome tour, well worth the drive to Hyde Park and Plein Air cafe around the corner is great for food/snacks after a tour (and they have outdoor seating!). Parking is also super easy, and we just showed up - no need for advance tickets.

Amazing building, home and Architecture. I did the basic tour for $20 and it ended up being a private tour. Joan was full of insight and stories making the tour fly by while pointing all the subtle details that makes the Robin house so amazing. Wish they had more furnishings in the building but those they do have are museum quality pieces. Worth every penny, hope to visit again.

Stunning display of prairie architecture. Not my favorite FLW house - but in the top 5. The house is small and the tour short

Frank Lloyd Wright's, Frederick C. Robie House is an architectural gem of extreme historic significance. Tours are available, and the gift shop has a great variety of items, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff.
