Always a win at Mt Everest - some of the best Indian fare in greater Chicago, lots of menu options. Great wine & beer selections; sharp table staff; easy parking close by. Really well-run establishment.

The food was of great quality and we all loved it. One of the best indian restaurants in town. I really wish that they allow us to order through Uber eats which they haven't started yet.

Love the food! I don't care much about the ambiance in general, but this restaurant combines good service, great food and nice ambiance. It's worth driving from Chicago to Evanston to eat here.

One of the worst takeout experiences of my life. No lie. The tikka masala sauce literally tasted like watered down tomato soup. We got the dinner for four, so a variety of items. All the meat was horribly over cooked. My husband and I stared at each other for a few minutes in utter disbelief that Indian food could taste this bad. Idk what to say. Really. Would never give them a second chance but I have to believe there was a reason for this chaos. It boggles the mind. We’re not harsh critics by any means. Like if its cooked correctly and has flavor, you’re ok in my book and will give multiple tries etc. But this, this was a whole other thing. Sorry y’all.

We order catering from here consistently for our team and everything is always delicious and correct! The staff is so nice and helpful. I always get a plate that has butter chicken, tandoori chicken, rice (and one other item I’m not sure the name of). This is a catering order that rarely has leftovers ☺️ Definitely recommend!! ☺️

Genuinely awful food. I've been going to Indian restaurants for 40 years, and I believe this is the worst we ever had. We went for lunch on Mother's Day. It was a major disappointment and embarrassment since I recommended it to my son. In brief, all of the food felt dry, cold and pre-cooked with gobs of canned sauces thrown on top of it to hide the stale nature of the food. Without exaggeration, the packaged food from Whole Foods and Trader Joe's tastes fresher and better. The waiter knew we wanted very mild tastes, but didn't warn us that one of the dishes had a spicy premade sauce. There is very little to say that was positive about our experience. All the dishes were without differences. Similar to some ethnic takeouts. Some vegetables and meat, cooked in the same way, with a different sauce. We used to go to this restaurant on a regular basis, but I doubt we'll go again. What a shame. So few good restaurants left in downtown Evanston thanks to the dystopian iron rule of the city government. Joy Yee retains authentic ethnic flavors. Otherwise, the former spirit of the downtown area has been crushed and replaced with medical facilities. A memorial to what was and what is..

Amazing lunch platter! We came in as a group and I ordered a lunch platter with chicken vindaloo and aloo gobhi. With rice, a piece of tandoori chicken, and naan (recommend upgrading to garlic naan), the meal was very well rounded and enjoyable. The Mango Lassi also helped a lot to ease the spiciness, a wonderful drink to order! As an American, this is definitely a solid South Asian restaurant!

Best Indian buffet I've been to in the Chicagoland area. The wings are unlike anything I've had at any other restaurant. Great mix of the most popular faves, like butter chicken, goat curry, and daal makhani. Will be back specifically for more of those wings.

As a resident of Evanston for several years now, I’ve been to this restaurant many times. The food is south Asian ( Nepali and Indian ) but more “Americanized” ( read : a bit on the bland side of things )to suit the audience for the restaurant. But, it still manages to get the balance of spice and flavors for the most part. This time we had the momos, pakoras, tandoori roti and mutter paneer. Was a little bit disappointed that the paneer wasn’t as soft as it is usually. But otherwise, the food tasted good and service was quick too. I’ve been to their buffet lunch ( pre covid) on several occasions and it was a great value for money. They also have a 10% wildcard discount for northwestern students. They also had a strange mixture of ceramic and plastic dinnerware , which wasn’t the case pre-covid. Not sure why. The paneer came out in a copper bowl, the rotis, momo and pakoras and all the dips came out in disposable plastic containers.

What an exceptional experience. I visited the Mt. Everest restaurant for the first time. The food was divine. The Vegetable Samosas were so delicious! 😋 As was my hot spicy chicken curry. I highly recommend you visit this restaurant if you've not gone yet.

Mt. Everest was gracious enough to donate food for our student film set, and I will say, the butter chicken and vegetarian biriyani was incredible. As someone who grew up with home cooked Indian food, it felt like I was back in my grandma's kitchen. The staff was so kind and gracious too. They saved the day, and we will all 100% be going here to eat again. Thank you!

The weekend buffet is fantastic. We go almost every weekend and it’s delicious, there are many gluten free options (including pakora). Best dish at the buffet is the mutter! The servers are great

Nice restaurant in downtown Evanston. I have been here multiple times and love foods here. The chicken tikka curry I tried recently was so delicious and surprisingly very good. Pakoras from here are usually very good. One thing I want to comment about is about momo. I have been a customer for around 3 years but what happened to the yummy momo from here. The momo sauce is still the best around. But the new momos are no good as before. While they do not taste bad, they don't give you any wow feelings. I am sure it is kitchen made, but it does taste very similar to nepali frozen momo in the grocery store, which will demotivate going to restaurant. So as a well wisher i would still keep 5 star and hope Mt Everest does better in this section and we will get the wow factor back. Update: tried momo again. definitely improvement. Momo was so flavourful though smaller in size. They were not a perfect change but still a lot better and appreciate improvement attempts. Momo sauce as usual is best around and the amount of Momo sauce for to go order is perfect.

For 73 dollars I got carry out chicken makhani which tasted old and had no taste, dal makhani which was also tasteless and saag paneer! 2 nans were stale. We have been patrons for this once used to be a great tasting food for my Indian pallet but now we feel almost cheated.

Best roti I've ever eaten! All the dishes obviously made from fresh ingredients. The chefs are obviously talented. Every dish was delicious. The carrot halwa was better than anything I've experienced in India. I only suggest you have Indian music and not western jazz in the background. Definitely recommending to friends.

I took a friend to the buffet, his first time, and he was blown away ! The food and service were excellent. Also really enjoyed the amazing goat curry. A great experience!

Service was courteous. Appetizers pretty standard. Masala was quite disappointing. Food was bland only slight hint of wonderful spices we were hoping for.

Staff was very friendly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Food is really delicious. Samosas are superb and the korma and kabob was outstanding. Overall great experience!

Excellent lunch special that you can order mild, medium or hot. I ordered medium and it was perfect. That, along with a side of mango chutney and a Taj Majal beer....yum!! Service was friendly and bathrooms were clean.

An Indian friend recommended this place. It was below average in my opinion. The samosa chat was Channa masala mixed with a samosa and chutneys. Not tasty at all. The matar paneer and malai kofta were bland and disappointing, no smell of methi, no taste of cashews etc. The channa masala was pretty much the most disappointing of all. The anchur flavor and smell was over powering. I pretty much had to go home and make my own makhani masala because I was left craving something delicious.

I ordered Uber Eats delivery, the food was delicious, came in fresh. I ordered Chicken Biryana with Garlic Naan, it was well prepared, came in well packaged, and the food tasted great. I wouldn't say I eat a lot of Indian food, but I came across this gem on Uber Eats. Highly recommend!

We were overcharged, called but no refund of the overcharge offered. The website says rice included with all entrees but we were charged extra. Not much for some but on a tight budget it’s important. Also, chicken tikka masala was very bland. Garlic naan was delicious though!

The food was delicious. I did miss that they don't serve coffee or tea cause I was cold and needed a warm up. But the place was great and I look forward to visiting them again.

Walk into a dining room festooned with fancy bronze chandeliers accompanied by rosewood decor and the hostess and wait staff will greet and serve you with extreme politeness. The first dish to the table was Mount Everest biryani. Extraordinary flavor. The next dish to the table was a chickpea dish which was extremely tasty, but just a little too salty; I returned it and they offered to replace it multiple times, however by then I was stuffed and could not eat it. It was taken off the bill and we left extremely well fed and very happy. I would recommend it to anyone who likes Indian food; the flavors are magnificent.

Staff was extremely friendly and personable. The food was incredible. I have never had Nepalese food before but I went with my Nepali friend and she said this is the best place she has tried in the area. Incredible portion sizes that are enough to share!

Staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and they had a fantastic and reasonably priced lunch special. I ordered the veggie special, which I’d recommend.
