Came to Girl & the Goat for the first time a week ago with my boyfriend and had a great time! Our expectations were super high as I’d been hearing about this restaurant for years. When we first came in the host tried to seat us at a tinyyy table sandwiched between two sets of couples on each side, all sharing one long bench. I asked if there was anything else and we ended up sharing a large table with another group that was already eating. I found this a little strange given the exclusivity of the reservation process and that the entire front part of the restaurant is taken up by an enormous sectional couch which they called “the lounge.” Why do you need a lounge if you can’t comfortably seat your reservations? The food, drinks, and service however, were fantastic. Our server was super friendly and engaging! For 2 people, 5 dishes is plenty (which is what our server said). 4 if you’re getting the pork shank, which you absolutely should. Everything was super creative with innovative flavor combinations. I also loved that the restaurant is tapas style (although the plates were much bigger than traditional tapas), because it allows you to try more of the menu without breaking the bank. Don’t skip: the pork shank, the green beans, the olive bread with feta

Came here to have a nice date night and to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to our expectations because of a number of reasons: - Noise level was way too high. - No private seating, felt a bit squeezed (we also noted in the reservation that we preferred to have a more private seating/table due to the occasion). - Dishes were served in a strange order (fish/meat came before veggies) and there was a looooong (!) waiting time between each dish. It just didn’t work to have a whole plate of cauliflower to eat at the very end of the meal after having eaten the more heavy dishes already. We also got a plate of green beans on the house because of the long waiting time (appreciated the gesture) - also arrived at the end of our meal, but like with the cauliflowers, it felt like eating side dishes after already having finished the “main meal” which just didn’t work for us. - The 6 dishes we tried simply didn’t live up to our expectations and certainly not to all the hype. Yes, everything was delicious and there were some nice creative flavor combinations, but nothing that really wowed us at all. And a big minus that the $16 sourdough bread was burnt and very dry. Our favorites were the “popcorn situation” dessert, chickpea fritters, and halibut. (Note: A person from the management team did apologize for the long waiting time between courses, which we highly appreciated.) Overall, this was just not the right choice for our occasion. And because of the above reasons we don’t think it’s worth the hype nor struggle to get a reservation. I think the ambiance (high volume restaurant that’s extremely noisy due to bad acoustics) and they way you’re seated (not private at all, rather tightly sandwiched between other tables or on large dining tables with other groups) makes this a better place to go with a group of friends rather than a nice date night.

The only thing better than the food is the service. The first time I went here was 8 years ago on my first anniversary with my girlfriend. The second time I went was on our first anniversary as a married couple. It’s our go to spot when we want to guarantee a great experience. I didn’t do a great job planning in advance for our wedding anniversary (shame on me) but either way they can be booked over a month out. I thought I would email to tell them our story and see if they could squeeze us in. Not only did they get back to me right away but they seated us at the chefs table where we could talk with the cooks and watch them work. It was extremely memorable. The food was better than I remembered. The pork shank was out of this world. It’s plenty for two to split with one or two other dishes. We tried things I never usually would have ordered or attempted to make for myself and it was well worth it.

Second time going and the food still tastes delicious. We ordered the green beans which were flavorful and a great side for any meal. The grilled skirt steak is fulfilling to your taste buds but be mindful that it is a small portion. The pork shank was the best part of the meal, I recommend it to anyone that decides to come here. The presentation of the Glazed Pork Shank as well as all the flavors leaves your mouth watery. The drinks here are phenomenal, I ordered the mezcal and was happy with it's flavor. I recommend anyone to come eat at Girl & The Goat and enjoy the Unique Experience.

Perfect date night this evening. The food was absolutely amazing 🤩. From the chickpea fritters tasty goat yogurt, to the fall off the bone sticky pork and the scrumptious green beans. The desert we ordered was the well balance dessert with the sherbet and the chewy like pastry and they put on the house. that was on the house. Service was top notch and the food came out quickly. This was a well oiled machine worthy of all the starts and accolades. Our first time but will be back. This was our first time

Light, elegant, elevated American fusion food. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted so flavorful. Each dish was unique and worked beautifully together. We had the salmon poke bowl, pan roasted halibut, oysters, woodfire lamb, goat cheese board and the popcorn situation to bring us home. Make reservations - place gets busy and packed. Good for any size party.

You can tell all the dishes on the menu are finely crafted but in practice this is a high volume restaurant that pushes out lots and lots of food. Tables are too close for comfort even without covid. I've been here a couple of times and all the dishes are delicious but aren't worth the price or don't live up to the hype of this establishment. However, the duck liver is phenomenal with both the biscuits and the crackers.

This is such an impressive experience. A small plate experience, you’re served your selections one after another and will be mind-blown every step of the way. It’s hard to get a reservation, so book early. We had the chickpea fritters, goat belly, Brussels, caulilini, pig face and pork shanks. It was more food than we needed, but the chickpeas were gifted to us … and boy what a gift they are. I would’ve never picked this dish but it was a major front-runner of the night. The pork shank is bigger than you’d think for a small plate, but oh-so-delicious. Every dish is thoughtfully layered in flavors and presented beautifully. Service was also excellent. Staff pulled dishes and provided new, kept drinks full, and explained the flavors in the dishes with warm, knowledge spirit. Get. Here.

A tremendous meal as I'm sure you've heard/read. Great service (shout out to Katie!) and a fun atmosphere too! Giving this four stars because most of the meal felt a tad over-salted. Our favorites and the least salty things were the roasted pig face (like a fancy pork hash) and chickpea fritters (great mix of textures). We got two goat dishes: the empanadas have a nice crunch and are a classic; the goat belly was well done and not fatty like pork belly. The shrimp salad was good too, especially the shrimp in it, but a little overdressed.

Top 5 meal of my life. It was incredible from start to finish. I went here for Valentine's Day with my wife and it was prefix menu but everything was fantastic. I personally loved the pork belly the best. I look forward to going again to try out their full menu.

After telling numerous people about Girl & the Goat as a must visit spot when in Chicago, I was finally able to check them out myself. It's a pretty hard ticket to come by, with reservations sometimes being months in advance. But we were extremely lucky and were able to get squeezed for the afternoon seating. Each party's food and drinks service lasts up to two hours. We were a little late but had more than enough time to fully experience this wonder of cuisine and libations. The menu is a tapas style format and you can order as many dishes of the goat integrated and inspired menu. We ordered about 8 plates for the table and two rounds of drinks each. And everything was spectacular!!! Our favorites were the Crispy Roasted Lamb and the Halibut. The menu may be seasonal as well, so always keep an eye out for new entries. The venue is deceptively large with a hidden area for larger parties. Dress is varied from just below business casual to add fancy as you like. Our waiter Omar was very knowledgeable of wine pairings and also made some great recommendations for our meals. He was extremely attentive and kept our glasses and bellies full, and he even organized a surprise Birthday treat for my cousin. I can't stress enough that this may have been one of my top five meals in a restaurant. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Chicago, make sure you get a reservation well in advance. You will not regret it!!!

Came here for a birthday dinner, super packed restaurant and definitely needed reservations which we made quite a few weeks in advance. The food is excellent, as our waitress recommended we ordered at least four or five dishes for two people to share. We definitely had more than enough food and was just the right amount of full. Recommend ordering from at least one section of each on the menu, the green beans have been on the menu forever and they were amazing. The pork face dish was incredibly tender and crispy crispy, will melt your face off with joy. Definitely a must try while in Chicago.

Was recommended this place so we booked a table for dinner. We were promptly seated and the service throughout the night was great! Very friendly staff:) We ordered the goat empanadas, grilled chicken skewers and shrimp and Gotham greens salad. Was happy they had a gluten free menu. Really wanted to enjoy the food but every dish was way too salty. We had to pick out the crispy salty bits on the salad to try and make it palatable. We also left out the fried toppings on the chicken skewers as they were really too salty. Tables were really close to each other too and we could no hear every conversation around us.

What an incredible experience. The food and service was amazing, above and beyond. We both got the goat specialty, since they don't always serve it and it was delicious. The layering of flavors was spectacular, and fresh. Those green beans? Amazing. There's a reason smyoy see them everywhere here. And the service was incredible. We were seated at the bar, but had a server. The bartender was only mixing drinks. And he was phenomenal. We had at least 5 different people stop and refill our glasses as they walked by, even though we had the bottle of water sitting right before us! The restaurant was packed, but somehow still quiet enough to hold conversation.

All three of these dishes were recommended by the waitress. Went with the goat liver mousse - just so decadent, perfect richness and cutting that with the blueberry jam on the toasted crackers. The small donuts were also so crispy and it really melted the mousse. Also. Top off with the pickled vegetables to break it up. Sauteed green beans and cashews, just something lighter, very flavorful and light, always a good accompaniment. And best of all the roasted pig face. Egg running into the seared pork on top of the potato sticks along the vinaigrette side. Just so great together. It was too much for one person, but too good to waste.

Not impressed at all. Do not believe the hype! Dishes are overpriced, portions are extremely small (despite being told everything is “family style” and “shareable”), flavors are meh, seating is cramped and tight (I was back to back with a random stranger at the table behind me), the restaurant gets pitch black after a certain time and you can barely see whats on your plate, the noise level is through the roof (my table eventually stopped talking because we couldn’t hear a word that was being said and we got tired of screaming across the table), and last but not least the drinks are weak. Extremely overrated… save your money. PS. If you find yourself dining here anyway, the only menu item worth ordering are the green beans.

Great restaurant in Fulton Market! Cool, slightly experimental sharing plates with wonderful service and atmosphere. The winners of the night were the deliciously smooth Chickpea Fritters and the Braised Lamb. Everything was great, though! The Goat Belly was one of the most flavorful pieces of meat I’ve ever had, but for $23, I expect a little bigger of a portion. It was comically small. We were celebrating a birthday so we got a scoop of chocolate ice cream with toasted quinoa, which worked surprisingly well!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Girl & The Goat in Chicago, and I must say, it was an experience that surpassed all expectations! As a solo diner, I was seated at the bar, which turned out to be a wonderful choice. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for enjoying a delicious meal alone or with friends. From the moment I walked in, the exceptional service was apparent. The staff were friendly and attentive, offering insightful menu suggestions to suit my tastes. They guided me through the dishes, and I ended up choosing two fantastic options that I couldn't have been happier with. The flavors were bold and innovative, and the presentation was stunning. It was evident that the chef has a true passion for their craft. To top it all off, I indulged in a delectable dessert that was the perfect ending to a fabulous meal. Girl & The Goat's cool ambience and amazing dishes have definitely won me over, and I can't wait to return. If you're looking for a unique dining experience in Chicago, don't hesitate to visit this gem. Whether you're dining solo or with a group, I guarantee you'll leave feeling satisfied and eager to come back for more

We were a group of eight🤓 we ordered family style of everything in the menu. What we all liked about the dishes was that the chef was very bold in spices choice. Every single dish (no exception) was very flavorful and dense with spices. I will certainly bring my adult children and come back here. I’m from California. I heard that this restaurant has a location in Los Angeles. If so, I’m certainly going there soon with my family. It’s worth every penny, dollar, and hundreds of dollars♥️🥰 the kitchen was buzzing. The waiter knew her dishes and ingredients. We got a free dish. It was such an amazing experience. Everyone loved EVERYTHING. Coming back for sure😎

Girl and the Goat in Chicago impressed us with its speedy service and flawlessly prepared dishes. The flavors were outstanding, with a clever mix of acidity and savory elements in each bite. The restaurant's use of fresh, local ingredients was evident in the beautifully presented dishes. Whether it was the tender lamb shank or the crispy pig face, every plate was a masterpiece. If you're seeking a memorable dining experience in Chicago, Girl and the Goat is a top choice.

All the food was amazing including our waitress’s service. We ordered the shishito peppers, green beans and goat empanadas. Everything tasted fresh and extraordinary. Seasoned perfectly *drool* We weren’t able to be seated at a table bc the wait is intense. Bc we were on a time crunch we sat in the lounge area. -1 star for the weird hostess that was REALLY aggressive about my friend waiting with us but didn’t plan to eat bc the lounge area only had space for 2 people rather than 3. It was awkward bc she was really rude about him just hanging out.

First time visit to this restaurant did not disappoint! We went on a Monday.... is a great way to see how things are on off nights, and everything was fantastic. Dinner started with signature cocktails, which were well crafted and not minuscule (as has become the trend), chickpea fritters which were very tasty. Our entrees steak and salmon were pristine. Overall, a great experience, beautifully prepared food delivered in a classic setting with excellent service.

Girl & The Goat in Chicago is a culinary delight that I can't stop raving about! From start to finish, our dining experience was exceptional. The restaurant's atmosphere is vibrant and trendy, with a rustic yet modern design that sets the stage for a memorable evening. The staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. Our server's recommendations were spot-on, helping us navigate the diverse options. The standout feature here is the innovative menu. The small plates format allows you to explore a variety of flavors. We started with the wood oven-roasted pig face, which was a revelation - crispy, succulent, and bursting with unique flavors. The goat empanadas were another highlight, perfectly balanced in taste and texture. The wine list is extensive, with an impressive array of choices to complement the dishes. The cocktails were equally inventive and refreshing. The dessert selection is equally impressive; the chocolate chip bread pudding is a must-try for any sweet tooth. Girl & The Goat is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary adventure. With its creative menu, friendly staff, and a buzzing atmosphere, it's a top-tier dining experience in Chicago. Don't miss the opportunity to savor the creativity and passion of this gem. We'll be back for sure!

I had an absolutely lovely birthday dinner at Girl and the Goat. Everyone was so kind and attentive. Our water glasses were kept full.m and clean plates were brought out several times. Our food was so delicious- so many layers of flavor and unique. We had the naan and dips which was huge as well as the chick pea fritters, wood fired broccoli and crispy pork belly. The broccoli was the surprise. There was mint lemongrass ( I think) along with the labneh. So unique but so delicious. Absolutely recommend

There’s a reason Girl & The Goat is one of the most popular restaurants in Chicago and I’m glad I finally got to try this famous spot. Reservations go quickly but I was able to get one for a week night for dinner. Dishes are served family style and come out as they’re ready so order a few items off the menu and enjoy. Our waitress recommended 4-5 dishes for two people so we picked some of the items we’ve been excited to try for a while. The chickpea fritters were unique and had an unexpectedly delicious flavor combining all the different textures and ingredients. The goat empanadas amazing and the pig face was very umami and bold almost like a pig belly. Our favorite dish of the night though was the pork shank for sure. All the different pieces of the dish really made it stand out. Service is on point here and everyone is friendly. Glad I finally visited!

Absolutely fantastic chef's specialty restaurant by one of the winners of the iron chef TV show. We loved all the food that we got including the lamb pierogi, baked green beans, shrimp and arugula salad, and scallops!. Great service and great rustic atmosphere in the heart of the Fulton market district of the West loop.

Must eat! Incredible atmosphere, friendly service and most importantly, impeccable food not elsewhere found. The selections are uncommon and the tapas style is ideal to try multiple dishes. If your tastebuds are tired of the basic dishes seen at all restaurants, this is the place for you!

Made a reservation that day for a late dinner and wow it was the best meal my husband and I had in Chicago. Our waiter suggested an amazing bottle of wine and we ordered a bunch of things, it was incredible. We went in the summer so we sat in the outdoor section and the atmosphere was perfect. Only took 2 pics because I forgot and ate it so fast! Thank you for the amazing meal!

We went to The Girl and The Goat last night and it was one of my most favorite meals in Chicago ever. Ever. We had the old fashioned, crudo, green beans, goat belly and pig face. I’m tempted to go back tonight. And tomorrow night.

Really great dinning experience. Had the flat steak, chicken skewers, asparagus salad, and foccacia bread. All were very tasty. Waitress was attentive. While there was big gaps of time in between courses, we didn't mind. Probably not the right place for a quick bite to eat. I'd definitely come back.

This restaurant is a must-to-go if you visit Chicago! My wife and I went here two nights in a 5 day trip because the experience was amazing in all aspects. The staff are really friendly and accommodating and even tho it is SO-BUSY they never miss a chance to serve their customers! Our waitress on the first night set the expectation that we should expect a 5 plate meal to feel full and it was so good to know going over the menu! We started with raw oysters and they were amazing. The Naan and dip was also spectacular! I wouldn’t miss the chickpea fritters if I visit again! The shrimp salad and the grilled chicken also were amazing! The desert with ice cream and cashews was a little too sweet for us specially because of the strawberry jam in it but overall it was worth every penny we spent there for food and tip! This is the place I feel I wanna tip the staff as much as I can because they are so good!

I’ve eaten out a lot in my life and this was by far one the best meals I’ve ever had in my life! We had the lamb, chicken and peppers, and something else. All of it was so good that I had to lick the plate 🙌🏾 I have never in my life had lamb that tasted this good. We also got extremely lucky and happen to walk in without reservation and got two seats directly at the bar, which is my favorite place to sit because the bartenders are usually the best servers. I will take every person in my family and friend group to this place, as it is the best!

Had a phenomenal meal here. Every dish we tried was fantastic and the service was stellar. Got lucky and a reservation opened up, but definitely recommend making one in advance. Will absolutely be back next time we're in town.

The pork shank, green beans, and the popcorn ice cream dessert were my favorite items, although all the food (we tried 8 plates and had our dessert) was very good! The goat belly wasn't worth the price, but everything else was fairly priced for the quality and flavor. The dessert is a must! Unbelievable! G and the G is definitely worth the visit! Thank you to Katie for the signed cookbooks! They made our visit even more special and memorable!

4/5 stars. Amazing food. Some of it wasn’t for my pallet but I can appreciate it. Minus one star because of a headache I got from how loud the music was. I’m sensitive to noise though. Service was excellent. The tables are super tiny. The waiter had to physically pull the table out so that I could get in and sit. You will be very close to other people. I didn’t mind that but it’s not common for the vibe to be like that

What a fantastic place. I wasn't quite hungry but came away satisfied with this gem. Brussels sprouts was nicely done. I quite liked the goat empanada. The goat was nice and juicy. The charred braised pork was tender and fatty. It's good to pair the pickles and mushrooms along with the lettuce to balance out the fat with acid.

First time I’ve been back to the homeland in 3 years. Came to The Girl and The Goat and have had an amazing experience. The drinks, made by Zach, are incredible, and the service by the whole bar staff- especially William, have been an overwhelming reminder as to why I love Chicago. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone staying in the West Loop or anywhere in Chicago.

Spectacular sit down with delicious tapas. The service was fabulous. Our server welcomed us to the restaurant, explained menu in great detail, and helped us pair our food with drinks. If you’re looking for something fancy (possibly a Michelin star restaurant) and not too pricey, this place won’t disappoint!

It was my first time dining here after hearing so many good things about this place. We got 5 dishes and out of the five my favorite was the string beans. I've never had vegetables this good before and didn't know vegetables can be made this good. The pork cheeks and pork shank were both really good but quite similar so I'd suggest ordering one or the other would be good enough. The corn bread was really delicious as well, the honey butter goes really well with the warm crispy bread. The service was really good and fast. Would 10/10 record this place and definitely make reservation as early as possible.
