On our way home from a quick weekend get away, we stopped to grab lunch. We sat at the bar! Because otherwise it would have been a huge wait!! The food was delicious and the Bartender made one heck of a drink!!! What a beautiful place and well kept and clean. Can't wait to return. This is a perfect place to just have a nice dinner or even celebrate an Anniversary!!

Itโ€™s a really nice location. Right on Michigan Avenue. Reminds me of cheesecake factory. I wonder who copied who. Unfortunately, the rumor has it that they are closing their doors soon so come visit while you can. Quick tip: Our waitress said Donโ€™t get garlic chicken on the menu. Not good.

Busy, but didn't have to wait too long for two people. The restaurant was clean and the servers were all friendly and fast. I got the sandwich special, and I enjoyed the BLT, definitely one of the best BLT sandwiches I've had. The broccoli cheese soup was good, not the best, and best eaten relatively quickly so it doesn't get to cold. The salad had a lovely house vinaigrette on it. My mother ordered the caramel chicken lunch special, and I tried a piece, definitely would recommend! It was so delicious! Both meals had a lovely presentation.

Being a lifelong Chicagoan, going to the Grand Luxe was a favorite of mine. The location, the food and the atmosphere. Now? Itโ€™s almost a shell of what it used to be. Half of the restaurant is closed off due to lack of staff, the prices are higher for now average food. $5.50 for a class of Lemonade? $4.50 for a soda? Spinach dip that was cold, not once but twice with chicken tenders over cooked and hard. The wait staff were great along with the Mgr on duty who tried to make it right. Definitely not what it used to be.

A friend recommended Grand Lux Cafe while we were visiting Chicago and while we planned to go for brunch but didnโ€™t make it until dinner, Iโ€™m glad we did! Everything we had was delicious! I definitely would recommend. I love the Covid precautions taken as well, makes you more comfortable dining out.

Went here for date night. Was a lovely experience. Our waiter was cordial. We had requested for a window view seat when making the reservation but on the day they said they didnโ€™t have even though several seats were empty by the windows, even throughout the time we were there. Strange. Other than that the ambiance is beautiful, the food was really good especially the calamari starter and itโ€™s accompanying sauce! That was wow! The drinks were good and it was a lovely night out. Iโ€™d come again.

We didnโ€™t make a reservation earlier, and were told to expect a wait time of 1 hr 15 mins when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon. We ended up waiting that long anyway and finally got to order. I was looking forward to having creme brรปlรฉe again, as I had had it before and it was delicious. Sadly, itโ€™s been taken off the menu. We ordered the potstickers and veggie burger, both were great. For dessert, I tried the key lime pie and it was fabulous! Overall, I really like the food here. Service was quick and attentive. They have weekend brunches as well, which I hope to try sometime soon.

Today is the last day for this downtown Chicago location. I'm so grateful that I was able to have a final meal here. I have loved this place for years. My now husband had one of our 1st dates at G.L, and we've repeat customers. This is a sad day.

This was my first and sadly my last visit to the grand lux cafe. After reading an article that this restaurant was closing, i knew i had to try. After trying the food, i was not disappointed in choosing to come here. The place itself was beautiful. The starters were delicious. Our entrees were delicious. The dessert was delicious. However i will say i was upset that no cookies were available. After reading many reviews i just knew i had to try them and was disappointed when i was told they were out. Overall i had a great experience. If i had to critique anything, the mashed potatoes and macaroni couldโ€™ve used a little more flavor for me. Other than that, 7.5/10.

We arrived right when they opened on a Monday, to our surprise it wasn't busy at all. The restaurant is on the second floor off Michigan Ave, and it's massive. We were a little disappointed we couldn't order off the brunch menu since it's only offered on the weekend, but there were so many other options we didn't feel like we missed out. Our server (I wish I could remember her name), was a gem and had many great suggestions. The food was fresh and tasted wonderful. It did take a little bit of time, which didn't bother us, but when you try it, you'll understand perfection takes time. The beignets are TO DIE FOR! This is a must when you come here, and order it first thing since they take a bit of time to prepare. The drinks were very unique and creative - but had the perfect amount of liquor ratio. Not like the drinks at all inclusives where it's all sugary, with one drop of alcohol. No, these were phenomenal! The atmosphere kind of has a "Cheesecake factory" vibe. I'm not a fan of the interior design, but that's my personal taste. I could see this place being extremely busy on nights and weekends. We would love to come here again for their brunch offerings, as well as trying different items from their large menu! Great experience overall

The Grand Lux Cafe never disappoints! We were seated immediately in a booth. Jada, our waitress, greeted us promptly and took our drink order. As we looked around the restaurant at all of the happy customers, we were impressed with the decor, atmosphere and ambience. The menu is filled with a plethora of options. After much contemplation, we started with spinach dip, I chose chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and carrots and my friend selected braised pot roast. Both entrees were delivered fast and hot by Jada. Everything was soooooo good but we couldn't eat it all. Lucky for us, we have leftovers! WINNING!

Wonderful experience overall. The servers are nice but seemed a bit overwhelmed yesterday and forgot about one of our orders and it took time before checking on us. The calamari were good but not warm or hot which is a lack of communication between kitchen and server but still enjoyable. The other appetizers were amazing, same goes for our shrimps, main entree and even the desserts. We enjoyed the Desserts the most ๐Ÿ˜€

Four stars because our service was awesome! The food was kind of expensive and just okay. I had the Asian Nachos, Buffalo Chicken Rolls, and Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo (the chicken costs extra). My friends liked the buffalo chicken rolls but I wasn't a fan. We also had the shrimp scampi and it was awful. The shrimp had this doughy batter that was totally uncalled for. I loved the Asian Nachos. It was really busy and we were warned to choose carefully because if we didn't like it... You're SOL. Anyhow the experience was OK and the service was pretty good.

My favorite restaurant! The food never disappoints! This time I had the crispy caramel Thai chicken... so good! And even though it had sauce on it, the chicken was crispy! Of course for appetizer we had the Asian nachos! My all time favorite item on the menu! I was also happy they were able to make me an espresso martini! For dessert, we had the warm caramel brownie... delicious!!! If you love chocolate, then you'll love it!

The Grand Lux Cafe is always a treat! The location is perfect with the right amount of class but well priced. We were seated at the tables by the windows (I have been wanted to sit in those seats forever), the experience was great. The service was good; the only issue was that they forgot to bring our appetizer but with our lunch and desert that was more than enough. Our waiter was friendly and check in often but not to the point that he became annoying. I highly recommend, donโ€™t skip on desert it was well worth it!

Wonderful dining experience. Great spot with good quality food prepared quickly and decent prices. The location and building is beautiful. Quality service from the moment you walk in. Do make note that their happy hour specials are only available at the bar and not at a table, and it's until 6pm. Will definitely be back for more.

Upon arriving the wait time was horrible and the place appeared pretty empty. But my waitress made up for it!! Tatiana was very friendly and was on point. She made sure we had everything we needed and checked in with us every time she walked pass. She kept the kids drinks full and even took a moment to chat with them, which made their day!! The food was excellent and it came out pretty quickly!!! Definitely coming back the next time I'm in Chicago it was worth every penny!!!!

Our server, Mia, was friendly. and attentive. The Spring Rolls appetizer was awesome. The three of us ordered salads which were freshly prepared and the taste was amazing (i.e., Asian Salad, Grand Cobb Salad, Southwestern Salad). We also ordered the chocolate pecan cookies, seems smaller than when ordered in previous visits. The Carrot Cake used to be one of my favorites but this time the carrots didn't taste as they had softened enough during baking and I kept crunching on a mouthful of stringy shreds of carrots throughout.

This is a tough review to do but its an Honest one. Grand Lux Cafe is all glitz and glamour but is it really? And does the food stack up? Sadly its not and the cooks are not very great. (I explain why) So we started off with the "Grand Calimari" which unfortunately had barely any Calimari or Zuchinni as mentioned and mostly had shrimp and fried onions. It ended up just being a bowl of crispie flour pieces at the end. The dipping sauces were great and portion size was good but its disappointing to not have many Calimari in a dish thats named Grand Calimari. Still not terrible as it tasted great.. The service was also good. I forgot the young mans name but he had dreads and was on the slim side. He was great. But now the bad: I ordered the Beef Wellington which is a pretty big platter but is in no way an authentic Beef Wellington. More like a tiny puff pastry placed on a piece of filet mignon that looked like a kabob. Massive disappointment. Whats worse, I asked for my filet mignon to be Medium. It came charred on the outside and raw on the inside. Horrible. All the pieces were inconsistent too. I returned this and opted for a grilled chicken avocado salad. Huge salad full of lettuce and some sweet vinegrette but barely any chicken. Barely! And it was not grilled chicken. Was cold plain chicken. Horrible and for $16. My brother got a garlic shrimp scampi type pasta. It was a huge serving but... not enough Shrimp! How disappointing. Just a ton of angel hair pasta with cheese and garlic sauce. It was really tasty but cmon .. needs more shrimp! My mom got the Salmon Picatta which was nice despite being very bland. She had to ask for hot sauce.. The molten chocolate cake aka lava cake was the best part of the meal. I left Grand Lux disappointed. Its a beautiful place for sure. Def the ambiance in alot of the dining areas fits the name.. but the food is not great and they are stingy with some of the protein. I initially told myself I wouldnt go back but I might give them another chance for redemption. P.s. If they seat you in a booth with a sofa back, that sofa back is dirty and full of stains. I shoulda took a pic!

A great place with American food. They have a huge menu and it's very family friendly. They give you free bread with your order. Everything tasted perfect. They even accommodated my brother's birthday with a cake slice. I highly recommend this place.

Grand Luxe is always a pleasure. We went for lunch after spending the previous night celebrating our anniversary. Decor is stunning. I've always liked going here for lunch as it is surprisingly affordable. We both had pasta (one gluten free) and both felt like we had the best dish. Great bread, our server was friendly and brought us a little surprise. And for you GF eaters: GET THE CHEESECAKE. It's amazing.

Delicious Food! But we had a Party of 7 was told we had to be divided and seated separately. Was with my family from other states, we all had attended a wedding. That was the point of going to dinner to sit down and enjoy each other's company, catch up on old times while dining Together. And we couldn't do that. If we would have known we was going to be split up we would've chosen a different restaurant. The Fellowship and getting together was more important than the meal itself. We know the next time.

Pros: What a awesome experience at Grand Lux Cafe. One of the best cafe and restaurant in Chicago. The quality of the food and drinks is exceptional. There's many varieties of the menu with special taste. Don't forget to try the desserts it's adorable. Staff is professional and very friendly. The interior decoration style is nice and different. The prices is acceptable for a such quality. Over rating is 09/10. Cons: There's a long waiting queue in the weekends but it worth that high traffic. Otherwise can't complain all was good.

My absolute favorite dish is the Sunday Night Pasta!!! It is succulent! The atmosphere is amazing. I love the decor, so fun and unique! The Belgian waffle and syrup is perfection! The architecture is really cool too, very good, the detail is award winning!

The best of our Chicago visit. Excellent location, beautiful art decoration. Food is exquisite with a good variety of entrees at reasonable prices. The salads are well prepared and like the mushroom soup. Been here twice and will gladly return. Attentive and friendly service. Thanks to Bartender Chris and waitress Ruth.

Great lunch spot. Service and food were good. We got the Chicken Royale and was delicious. Itโ€™s a great location. We had a booth by the window overlooking Michigan Ave and enjoyed the people-watching. Only negative was one of the booth seats was significantly ripped and sticking up so not very comfortable. I forgot to take a pic of the food but hereโ€™s one of the dining area and view from our table.

I hate that this restaurant location is closing soon. My first time visiting this restaurant has become my last. However, it was a great experience, and I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to experience the high quality food, service, and atmosphere. The private room experience was top tier.

We went there for lunch and had appetizers - Calamari and mini burgers which were very good. For entrees i ordered the barbecue. Unfortunately, the description was better sounding than the meal tasted. The ribs seemed more steamed (therefore mushy) with BBQ sauce as opposed to grilled (which would provide a nice bite and chew)...the fries and bread were good, but coleslaw was too busy. There 4 in our party...the other meals: chicken picatta, island burger and crispy caramel chicken. I don't recommend the ribs (at least on that day), outside of that everything was good...including the service.

We went here based on the Google reviews. The service was .. business not overly friendly, prompt. My Ceasar salad, ok. The Ahi tuna poki , good and the Cabonara with chicken delicious. Unfortunately the blood orange colada was undrunkably strong.

Best meal in downtown Chicago I have had! Everything is superb! Food is EXCELLENT with fresh baked desserts. Brussel Sprout the best! Shrimp Scampi is unreal. Waitress was Morgan. She was amazing. I donโ€™t know how they keep their prices so low. Average meal $20. Will definitely return!
