I
have
been
to
eden
at
least
three
times
since
my
initial,
five-star
experience
nearly
a
year
ago.
Unfortunately,
each
of
these
visits
has
proven
more
disappointing
than
the
last,
leading
to
me
needing
to
update
my
review
after
my
most
recent
dining
experience.
I’ll
start
with
the
positives.
eden
remains
a
beautiful
space
and
a
much-needed
casual
fine-dining
in
the
area.
The
food
is
fresh,
much
of
it
sourced
locally
and
from
their
own
greenhouse,
and
all
plates
are
extremely
well-portioned.
There
are
plenty
of
options
for
vegetarians,
meat
eaters,
and
health-conscious
diners
alike.
But,
for
the
price
of
the
meal,
you
do
expect
more
on
a
number
of
levels.
I
haven’t
been
for
dinner
in
several
months,
so
I
won’t
speak
too
much
on
it,
but
my
wife
and
I
both
thought
it
was
good
not
great,
fine
dining
prices
for
above
average
fare.
What
I
want
to
focus
on
is
brunch.
Our
most
recent
visit,
on
a
not-so-busy
early
Sunday
afternoon,
was
extremely
disappointing
from
top
to
bottom.
We
placed
our
order
at
12:49pm
(as
per
our
check).
Our
meals
(Eggs
Benedict,
Avocado
Toast,
Esmee
Salad)
did
not
arrive
to
our
table
until
1:29pm.
That’s
exactly
40
minutes
for
three
fairly
simple
brunch
dishes.
My
wife,
who
ordered
a
Bellini
to
go
with
her
meal,
had
to
order
a
second
as
it
proved
fairly
impossible
to
sip
it
and
make
it
last
for
close
to
an
hour.
If
the
restaurant
were
super
busy,
or
it
was
some
sort
of
large,
complicated
order,
maybe
you
could
understand
it.
But,
this
wasn’t
two
orders
of
filet
mignon,
it
was
eggs
and
smashed
avocado.
You
might
even
be
able
to
excuse
it
if
the
server
made
sure
to
be
attentive,
apologize
for
the
wait,
or
even
comp
the
second
Bellini.
But,
our
server
was
right
on
the
precipice
of
ignoring
us,
barely
looking
at
us
the
whole
time.
In
fact,
when
he
came
over
after
25
minutes
to
see
if
my
wife
wanted
another
drink,
he
didn’t
even
mention
the
food.
It
was
only
10
minutes
later
when
the
drink
arrived
that
he
said
he
checked
on
the
food.
I
spent
some
time
in
the
service
industry,
long
enough
to
know
this
isn’t
how
it’s
done.
If
you
forgot
to
fire
the
order
(which
is
almost
certainly
what
happened),
you
say
something
about
being
sorry
for
the
wait,
that
the
kitchen
is
backed
up
with
other
tables,
or
prep
for
an
event,
something.
When
you
sit
a
gentlemen
next
to
us
several
minutes
later,
who
orders
receives,
eats,
and
pays
for
his
meal
before
we
are
even
assured
the
kitchen
is
working
on
ours,
you’ve
got
to
say
something.
Instead,
we
felt
like
we
didn’t
matter,
especially
when
other
tables
were
getting
attention
over
the
course
of
our
stay.
You
could
maybe
excuse
all
of
this
if
the
food
was
outstanding.
Unfortunately,
after
all
that
wait,
I
can’t
even
say
that,
even
trying
to
be
objective.
I
really
liked
the
Esmee
salad,
plentiful
and
very
well
dressed.
The
roasted
potatoes
that
came
as
a
side
were
delicious,
something
I
would
happily
order
on
its
own.
Extremely
good.
Except…they
were
cold.
And
they’re
not
supposed
to
be
served
cold
or
else
they
wouldn’t
be
served
in
a
cast-iron
skillet.
My
wife’s
Eggs
Benedict
were
also
cold,
which
ruined
what
otherwise
was
a
very
good
Hollandaise
and
nicely
poached
egg.
It’s
a
bit
hard
to
see
in
my
picture,
but
only
one
of
my
two
slices
of
avocado
toast
was
even
seasoned,
a
hastily
thrown
together
presentation
on
not-quite-fresh
bread.
Lastly,
I’m
not
sure
what
they’re
going
for
with
the
cornhole
setup
out
on
the
patio.
Is
this
casual
fine
dining
or
is
it
Wrigleyville?
After
tip
our
meal
and
drinks
came
to
$100.
The
experience
was
not
worth
$50,
let
alone
$100.
We’ve
had
brunch
at
several
spots
in
the
nearby
area,
some
where
you
sit
down,
others
where
you
order
from
a
window,
that
were
all
far
more
compelling
and
praiseworthy
than
what
we
experienced
at
eden
this
most
recent
trip.
Honestly,
after
giving
this
spot
several
tries
in
the
past
few
months,
I’m
not
sure
I
ever
will
again.
