WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!! We had a great dinner celebrating our friends birthday until a spider found its way into my drink. We tried to handle the situation politely with our waitress and she was very respectful and told us she would speak with the restaurant manager. They decided to only discount parts of our bill even though we told them we weren't comfortable paying it. We eventually got to speak with the manager ourselves however he was very disrespectful, rude, not understanding at all and walked away from our table mid-conversation. Me and my party recommend you avoid this restaurant at all costs!!!!!

Possibly our new favorite restaurant. This is a very special place. It seems there are a lot of regulars here , which is a good sign. The atmosphere couldn't be better. Love the low lit dining room and the chandeliers. Linda wa our faithful server a made our first time here very special. Thanks Linda! Second visit Tuesday 12-5. Catherine was our quick witted server who had us laughing within seconds of meeting her. She made the night for us. The menu is really great and unique, with old school items that we love. This restaurant/Jazz club/supper club has something that most other restaurants don't have. It's difficult to pinpoint it but it's something that is great and special and different.... Kinda magical. The experience is very exceptional and makes my wife and I feel very happy. It is officially our favorite restaurant in Chicago. Third visit and our server, Jorge, was a delight! Quick witted and never missing a beat. We sat in the Red room this time. This restaurant never ceases to amaze my wife and I. Thank you for such a an amazing and consistent wonderful experience!

This place is a hidden gem! We were looking for live music & came here because it was right next to our hotel & it advertised live music on Fridays & Saturdays. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles & warm, welcoming staff. I think the owner even came up to us to ask us if we wanted a table to dine in or just listen to the music in the lounge. We got a table right in front of the band. The atmosphere is intimate, cozy, romantic & seems straight out of a movie! The waitstaff wear white collared shirts & black bow ties & the vibe seems formal but fun & celebratory. We were definitely dressed super casual & so were other guests. We had already eaten dinner so we tried a few apps & everything was delicious! We got the shrimp scampi dip, some fresh oysters & the twice baked potato. Their signature cocktails were excellent! We tried many of them: south side (my favorite), bee’s knees, antique whiskey sour, tortoise punch, & blood orange harpoon. Autumn, our server was amazing & was always checking on us. The entire wait staff was very attentive & worked like a well oiled machine. The coat check guy Raymond came to grab our coats & also took a few pictures for us! They really know how to make their guests feel special & appreciated. I highly recommend this independently owned supper club for live jazz music, great food, fun atmosphere & terrific service!

Food was way to rich, even the server admitted all the food is extremely rich. I couldn't even order a main course because I felt so full from the rich lobster bisque and bread. Not sure how you make bread too rich but somehow they made it possible. Not a great place for a date, could hardly speak to the server about the menu it was so loud. Very classic American restaurant. Only go if you like to feel like you're eating butter.

Food was great but the service and atmosphere were even better. It felt like a swanky jazz club with leather seating and all. Our server was playful and enthusiastic and did not hesitate to bring us dessert for our anniversary celebration. All the dishes were good, not mind blowing, but as expected it was just a overall very nice dinner. - The complimentary cheese bread had a very nice texture and tasted like an elevated garlic cheese bread. - Oysters were large and very fresh, wish we ordered more - Calamari was standard, wish it was a little crispier but it had a nice little tingly spice - Eggplant pizette was also flavorful though much smaller than expected - Wellington was perfectly made and would definitely order this again - Tortoise pie was the perfect way to end the night Make sure to rub the tortise for good luck!

Searching for a restaurant in Chicago was rough. I came across this place because it checked all the boxes of what I wanted as a surprise date night for my wife. I liked the darker ambiance and how quaint it was. Menu had what we were looking for. My wife likes her Chilean Sea Bass and they did not disappoint. I went with the Beef Wellington just to try something new. Both were delish. We also both had a wedge salad, very good (though mine could’ve used a tad more dressing, but I know that’s all personal preference). She got had French Martini and I asked our server Amelia to just bring me something and she brought me an Old Fashioned (safe choice). We enjoyed our experience and didn’t feel rushed, we’d definitely come back

Nice customer service with an attentive wait staff. Patio is near a bustling street, but you can dine inside. Decent Oysters & cocktail shrimps. Yummy buttery cheese bread. Grapefruit Basil Martini & Guava Margarita is a must try. Happy Hour cheers

Once again we had a wonderful meal at the Tortoise Supper Club. From the friendly greeting when we walked in, to the great waiter who described each dish with great enthusiasm. We found a great French white wine reasonably priced. The before dinner martini was perfect. The four of us shared a relish tray and then a chopped salad. It would be impossible to have made a more succulent chicken. The walleye special had a lot more crab than breading. We finished dinner with an old fashioned style Brandy Alexander that was thick enough that we wanted spoons. I haven't mentioned the beautiful atmosphere that looks like a perfect supper club from days gone by. The music is always great and we enjoyed that as we finished our drinks. Chicago is fortunate to have such a unique find. Reasonably priced, outstanding service, and a cool hangout.

We have been to Tortoise Club many, many times and absolutely loved our experiences so it was a no brainer to host our rehearsal dinner in their beautiful space. We couldn’t of been happier with the planning process and execution of the event. Kelli is an absolute dream to work with and made planning a breeze. She was helpful and responsive at all times. Our guests were floored by the food, the staff, and the live jazz! It was the perfect kick off to our Chicago wedding weekend and I wish we could go back and do it again. I wouldn’t change a thing if we could because Tortoise Club was nothing short of perfect. Cannot stress enough how you should host your event here!

We had never heard of the restaurant despite it being three blocks from my office and being sconnie supper club lovers. I mean, it doesn’t have the price tag of the back woods but the menu and presentation are legit. Definitely steakhouse atmosphere but enjoyable. The relish tray was great, the grasshopper was great. My only complaint was the Ny strip wasn’t as tender as I had hoped for wet aged. Service excellent. Will repeat.

10/10 experience. Service was fantastic. Food was incredible. Felt like you went back in time. Will definitely be bringing out of town guests here in the future. Loved the bee’s knees drink. The scallops were great and the tortoise pie was phenomenal. My husband said their house bread was the best he’s ever had.

Been here a handful of times and the food is always delicious. I usually get the sea scallops and risotto or a filet. The steaks are melt in your mouth and the mashed potatoes are so creamy. Service is always attentive. The atmosphere is romantic for a date. Would recommend for a nice night out!

Service was outstanding (I believe we had Madison). She was attentive, personable, and made great recommendations. We had the prime rib, sea bass, asparagus, mac & cheese, tortoise pie, pinot noir, and southside cocktail. Everything was delicious. We really appreciated that they were able to split the entrees into two separate portions so we could share. The live jazz music made the night even more amazing.

What an incredible dining experience. From the moment you enter to the last bite you are in for a treat. The service is spectacular. Our water (I don't think his name is Larry but he looks and sounds like a Larry) was brilliant. The food was amazing. I had the prime rib and savored every bite.

Moved to Chicago earlier this year and immediately started "researching" restaurants to dine at for my birthday for later on this year. Unfortunately, several of the restaurants weren't taking reservations until at least 30-60 days ahead, but when I came across the TSC I was intrigued. I was able to make the reservation in August even though the celebration wasn't until December. Why I made it so early was because my birthday falls during busiest time of the year with holiday/work parties and reservations fill up. When I did make the reservation the management of TSC were EXTREMELY accommodating. I wanted to order everything on the menu, everything looked delicious! I went with the Pan Seared Scallops (so happy I did!!) and I wasn't 100% sure I would like the green pea risotto so our server (Sergio) suggested I could substitute it with something else and I did with the mashed potatoes (omg they were delicious!!) Our party (there were 5 of us) even brought our own cake (the restaurant has a $4 cutting fee per person), and even though we knew about the charge beforehand, our server was so sweet, he knocked it off our bill completely! He was a hoot, loved his personality! They even had an operetta singer come over and sing me happy birthday!! I gotta say the Tortoise Supper Club is definitely in my TOP 5 favorite restaurants in the city - and I have tried about 30 of them since I moved here. It was a memorable evening, and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely! I will DEFINITELY be back!! Thank you!!

I went here for a work dinner and had an amazing experience! Sergio is THE BEST - he answered all of my questions and made fantastic recommendations, he was attentive and kind, and he made me excited to go back another time! He also made sure all the food I ate didn’t have nuts (I am allergic) and he went above and beyond to ensure my safety and happiness. Thank you, Sergio!!! The other staff was fantastic as well!! We were in a private room that had great vibes and a private bar. The food was amazing (the bread stuffed with cheese was life changing, and the filet was cooked perfectly)! I can’t wait to return!

I loved it so much! One of the best meals I've ever had! The bread, the lobster bisque, short rib, prime rib, peanut butter pie....all stellar! The live jazz music was the icing on the cake! I cannot wait to go back. I'm counting the days!

As a regular at Tortoise Supper Club in Chicago, I cannot recommend it enough. This iconic establishment has become my go-to destination for exceptional dining experiences and has consistently exceeded my expectations. First and foremost, the ambiance at Tortoise Supper Club is unparalleled. From the moment you walk through the doors, you are transported to a swanky, jazz era vibe. The candlelit dining room, with its rich wood accents and cozy leather booths, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. It's like stepping into a time capsule where every detail has been meticulously curated to capture the essence of a classic American supper club. In addition, they just recently renovated their dining room with a beautiful hand-painted mural featuring swanky drawings. The menu at Tortoise Supper Club is a treasure trove of culinary delights. From the perfectly aged steaks to the freshest seafood, each dish is crafted with precision and care. As a regular, I have had the opportunity to explore the extensive menu, and I can confidently say that everything I have tried has been outstanding. The steaks, cooked to perfection, are always a highlight. My fiancé and I especially enjoy the Prime Rib, which is the best in Chicago! Another favorite is the Chilean Sea Bass, which is bursting with flavor. The attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of each dish is evident, and the quality of the ingredients shines through with every bite. What truly sets Tortoise Supper Club apart is its exceptional service. The staff, many of whom I have come to know over my visits, feel like family. Their genuine warmth, attentiveness, and professionalism make each visit feel like a special occasion. From the moment you are greeted at the door to the final farewell, you are treated with the utmost care and respect. The servers are incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and always offer helpful recommendations, ensuring that every dining experience is tailored to your preferences. The bar at Tortoise Supper Club is equally impressive. The skilled mixologists create cocktails that are masterpieces in themselves. Whether you're in the mood for a “Martini Your Way” or a creative concoction, the bartenders deliver with precision and flair. Their attention to detail elevates the overall dining experience. In addition to the outstanding food and service, Tortoise Supper Club offers a range of special events and live entertainment that add a touch of excitement and charm to the evenings. From live jazz performances to themed dinner nights, there is always something new and delightful to experience. In addition, Tortoise Supper Club is the best place to host a private event in Chicago. Your guests will love it. In conclusion, as a regular at Tortoise Supper Club, I can confidently say that it is an exemplary dining destination in Chicago. The timeless ambiance, exceptional cuisine, and impeccable service make every visit a memorable one. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking an extraordinary dining experience, Tortoise Supper Club delivers on all fronts. It has become my second home, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

After looking around at a number of places to host our rehearsal dinner, my husband and I just weren't finding it. Thankfully, our amazing wedding coordinator suggested the Tortoise Supper Club. It was 2 blocks from our venue and so we went to take a look at it. We were welcomed by Mike and Bruce and they could not have been nicer. They showed us the Red Room and we loved it. The red walls and the decor was nothing like we had seen anywhere else. It was very dramatic and we could definitely see ourselves hosting our event there and the size of the room was perfect for our guest count.  One of the major perks was the add-on entertainment options for our event. It was hard to choose with all of the great selections, but we decided on the caricature artist. Our guests loved it! We had such a great experience and the night of our dinner Mike came in to say hello and to give us a hug. The entire staff at the Tortoise Supper Club makes everyone feel so welcome and they take such good care of their guests. Thank you to Kelli for helping us plan such a memorable night. We will definitely be back soon!

Love the live jazz, friendly atmosphere and staff, great meal portions for a very satisfying meal. Top shelf wines. The owner is nice too. Chicago parking is a hassle so enjoy staying a while to enjoy the music and wine selection.

Came here for girls night and had a wonderful time. The setting is intimate with live jazz in the background. I ordered oysters, scallop risotto, and ended it with chocolate praline house made ice cream. The food was fresh and delicious.

Service was exceptional, food was luxuriant with flavor and richness. My wife got the sirloin steak and I ordered the prime rib. Cocktails were great, I got an old fashioned. Very flavorful, spirit forward. Beautiful dark, speakeasy atmosphere. We sat in the red room area, but we’re able to hear the live Jazz. This is a perfect date spot!

Great food. Prices are 12 to 25 entrees and appetizers. 25 to 60 chicken seafood and beef. Great drinks. Live jazz on weekends. Beautiful place

I had the most pleasant time at Tortoise Supper Club, and I highly recommend coming in on Jazz night which is an absolute blast. We had excellent service from Luke, who is a veteran at the restaurant. Oysters were nice from the east coast, and their signature bread is one of the best in the city. The atmosphere was dark, but still well lit giving an intimate setting. Ask to sit in their Red Room for a little extra privacy and exclusivity. Their entrees are my favorite, and the Chilean Sea Bass is very flavorful. Also incredible cocktails that have unique tastes and even have history lessons under the name and ingredients. Overall, great date night spot, and love the feeling of a crossover between New Orleans and New York City restaurant.
