Good food. Slightly pricey. Good service. I would come back.

This place is the absolute best. You cannot go wrong here. Literally every single thing on the menu is fantastic. The pork chops are life changing. The pasta is out of this world. The meatballs are easily the best in the city, and in fact, one of the best I've ever had, Italy included. The service... They make you feel like you're coming home. This restaurant has a lot of heart and it really comes through in every interaction. Additionally, they have a very nice outdoor seating area, a great bar, and clean bathrooms, which is always really nice. Two brothers from Italy started the restaurant, and the recipe book has remained unchanged since then. They do specials, which are always fantastic, but the backbone of the menu is unchanged, old school, and out of this world... Hence the phenomenal meatballs. Coming here, you really feel the love. From the food, to the service, everything is a cut above the rest. Stop by, try a meatball or whatever else you heart desires. You won't regret it. Pictured below are the lobster ravioli (top) and the seafood in vodka sauce over black pasta (bottom, I forgot the name on the menu, it's a special) Stop whatever you're doing. Go here. Eat some really good food. You'll thank me.

Unfortunately I had to change my 5 star review to 1 star. I ordered this place for pickup a second time because the vodka sauce was beyond amazing last time. My bf just picked up the order and he is disgusted. We did not receive vodka sauce. We received COLD pasta with barely any random marinara sauce. To charge $20+ for what tasted like leftover pasta is beyond me. We live down the street and luckily there are numerous other Italian restaurants in the neighborhood who don’t sacrifice taste and quality in their food and try to cut corners. I would have called and taken this pasta back but unfortunately the restaurant closed by the time we ate. Will not be returning since we feel scammed. Whoever made this “vodka sauce” should resign. Honestly this ruined our Wednesday night as we were looking forward to having penne vodka. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else.

The original heart of the flavors of the food are gone. The food is good, but not the authentic flavors it used to have since recent new management. Very disappointing to see IL Vicinato being subdued. Olive Garden is better in comparison.

A delicious place with a great past. We got to meet the owner and he was so sweet and super passionate about his restaurant. The kitchen was awesome to make a dish off menu and it was excellent!!

Definitely a hidden gem! I was invited to a business lunch. The staff was friendly and attentive, providing any specials and suggestions. I suggest you try the twice baked clams, they are amazing! Great options over all.

We happened to find this hidden treasure while I was right across the street getting a flat fixed. Delightful lunchtime surprise. We walked in and were warmly greeted. The servers are attentive and kind, the food is exquisitely bursting with flavor, the decor is cozy and elegant. Definitely worth the drive for the abundant homemade flavors.

Excellent. Haven’t been there in years and received a mailing with their specials. Decided to bring our friends and give them a try. Excellent.

Great place to seriously enjoy really good Italian food. It's kind of a small restaurant, but it has a comfortable feel. Very enjoyable.

Unfortunately the waitress wasn’t as attentive even though place was not busy. My lasagna was good but the other 3 dinners were not. Pasta over cooked and under seasoned. The vesuvio was ok. Veal wasn’t tender. Sad… always liked this place.

Squid Ink Seafood pasta was delicious. So was the veal ravioli. The atmosphere laid back and casual. I recommend.

Approximately one week ago, I had the pleasure dining at this restaurant to celebrate my moms birthday. The dishes were exceptional, and wine selection was equally impressive. We were unsure of what to order, but our experience was elevated by our attentive waiter who provided recommendations. Towards the end of our meal, the waiter surprised us with complimentary cannolis in honor of my moms bday. They truly went beyond our expectations and would def eat there again.

The restaurant is a hidden gem. if you know, you know. The food is AMAZING. The portions are very generous and considering is a very upscale place the price of the food is fair. Perfect for a date or a family dinner. ps if you love bread try the Vici bread.... trust us.

I ordered the breaded chicken and it was a little overcooked and dry, but the service and the Ambiance are pretty good...

An amazing italian restaraunt full of character and flavor. The staff are all super attentive and helpful with dishes if you have any questions. I had gotten the Veal alla Saltimbocca and it was absolutely fantastic. Great lemon-white wine reduction sauce to top some of the tenderest veal I have had in a long time. All of this ontop of some delicious homemade pasta. Great dish. My family had gotten two orders of Pasta Carbonara and linguini and clams which were also cooked to perfection. Great little date spot or just anytime you are looking for some great Italian food.

Maria was our waitress. We felt rushed to order. When unsure about which wine to order, there were no suggestions about wine or food. Our entrees were on the table before we finished our appetizer, soup and salad. This is annoying! Timing can make or break a meal experience. Despite feeling rushed throughout the meal, when it was time for the bill, we were waiting over 20 minutes for the bill to arrive while our waitress was tending bar. I had to get up and go to the bar to get the bill. I mentioned to her that we felt rushed during the meal and now have been waiting a long time for our check. No apology, just "I know".

We came here on a Sunday just after opening around 1pm. We had a waitress in training. She was being shadowed by someone. We barely sat down and she was all over us like white on rice. (enthusiasm)? I finally had to tell her to give us some time to relax and take our coats off. There was no one else in the dining room. It took a LONG time to get our food. We noticed a huge catering order going out the door. Our order must have gotten lost amid this catering order. My boyfriend and I both ordered pasta with seafood. Clams and mussels. The pasta was overcooked. The salt content was thru the roof. Once my mouth got used to the salt it was delicious. So I don't think we'll be coming back. I can't take the salt. Maybe I could have asked to customize the order. I would have asked for al dente and 1/2 the salt.

I have a very mixed review. Our first impression was the bread and unfortunately it had mold on it. It was switched out thankfully and the bread was absolutely fantastic. I had the special of the lobster ravioli and my girlfriend got the Black Fettuccine. Both were absolutely awesome. I’m definitely coming back to try this place once more to see if we just arrived on a fluke night (which happens in the food industry nothing’s perfect).

An amazing dining experience! They made us feel welcome, and the food was superb. Arguably the best gnocchi I have ever had. The risotto my wife had was delicious. I highly recommend Il Vicinato to anyone in the area!

Amazing place and staff! The baked clams are delicious. The squid ink fetuccine with the seafood was unreal. One of the few old school places left in Chicago that still serves wonderful food. Highly recommend checking this restaurant out to anyone looking for good food and friendly staff.
