I had the opportunity to eat here while on a trip. Everything was amazing. The history and atmosphere were great to learn. The menu is vast with a great range of appetizers, salads, pasta dishes, and steak. With it being a steak house I had to try the Kansas City Cut. Which I had never heard of before. It was a great cut. The steak was cooked to perfection medium rare. One downside is the sides were not included, but I was able to try the Brussel sprouts and mashed potato which were amazing. I would say it is a great place, lots of history, if you have a chance it is worth it.

Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse located at 33 W Kinzie St, Chicago, IL 60654 is a phenomenal Italian Steak Restaurant and Bar! The weight staff have been there for many many years and our experts at what they do. The ingredients use for their meals are top quality and it’s a really great experience to go there. I had their jumbo shrimp appetizer, and the chicken Parmesan. Both were really, really great. Server Carlos was the perfect Waiter - he’s worked there for over 20 years! Then there’s a history of the place which is simply amazing. I’ve included many pictures of the vault, which is just incredible with the news stories from when they were given. Check it out and by all means eat here! There is a bar in the back which I didn’t eat in, but looked pretty cool too.

The food was all around solid. The fried ravioli was the #1 favorite. The bruschetta and calamari were also decent. For drinks, the old fashioned I had was excellent and very fairly priced. While the steak was solid I don’t think it beats some of the other steakhouses in the area. The cut was certainly cooked to perfection though. The corn brûlée was also weird and I wouldn’t get it again. We went for restaurant week and I will say that had an incredible deal for it. We had a wonderful time, but I’m trying to look at it objectively had we paid full price.

Ambience - it’s a great place to go out and have a drink at the bar and then enjoy a fine dining experience of a steak house. Appetizers - loved the calamari and meat balls. The ravioli was my personal fav. Absolutely delicious. Entrée - The salmon is delicious along with the bone in steak. The chicken breast was a bit dry. Desserts - Key lime pie is a winner but the tiramisu is delicious as well.

My family and I were looking for a good and nice not super expensive Steakhouse in Chicago and came here based on some reviews. I can tell you, we made the right choice by coming here and restaurant was very nice and had some of the upscale look but somewhat good prices. Food was plenty and and delicious. I had the pasta with sausage, two 14oz prime pork chops and a kid chicken tender meal. Each dish was very flavourful and the chicken tenders were good. Also had couple of beers and couple of fountain drinks and before tip, the total was about and average of 30 each. I feel it was worth the service and the food and will come back if I am ever around the area again. After dinner, we stayed a few minutes loomi g through some of the memorabilia they have there and several pictures of Harry with other baseball greats and celebrities..

So why only 3 stars? A very pleasant experience with great steak and even better calamari, in fact I'd say the best steak and calamari I've ever tasted (I've tasted a lot). The sides were not great, over cooked and swimming in oil The waiter offered no change and assumed the whole of the cash he was given was his tip he then avoided the table for over 10 minutes while we waited for the change to then give him his tip, as not to embarrass him or my partner I ended up having to accept he kept over $48 for a $202 bill. Was the service worth $48 an hour? NO. Should I have said something, YES. Is this Chicago practice, I don't know. GREAT FOOD, OK SERVICE, BAD ETHICS.

Well decorated with unique memorabilia as soon as you walk in the doors. Staff was able to accommodate us without having a reservation. Waitstaff were all very experienced and made the dining experience very pleasant. Portions were large and prepared in a timely manner. Overall a nice dining experience.

We just happened into here early dinner time and all the tables were booked so we went to the bar. Boisterous and colorful we were able to find a table. Immediately there was water and homemade chips at our table. The waitress took a bit to get to us to get our drink order and the drinks took so long (over 15 minutes) we changed our mind on what we wanted to order. We chose simple- the Brussels- which were very mustardy, had they not been I would have liked them more and the calamari- they were tender. We visited the basement room and that was cool to see. Very nice that they allow it to stay open. The whole place is interesting and has a lot of history.

We had a reservation for Sunday lunch at Harry Caray‘s, but did not realize that the dining room opened for dinner and that our reservation was in the bar. We had a mini family reunion planned and did not want to sit in the noisy, busy bar. The staff allowed us to sit in the dining room all by ourselves! We felt special and enjoyed quiet conversation with our cousin visiting from Germany. A really great, accommodating, and friendly staff. Find Harry Caray’s memorabilia throughout the restaurant- which is something to see. The food and drinks were delicious. Everyone left happy and full! If you’re a Cubs fan… you will love Harry Caray‘s.

Came here for restaurant week and did the sharing menu. Had a lot of food and for the price, it was pretty awesome! The filet mignon was juicy & tender. The toasted ravioli was another spectacular side to order! The other sides/entrees were okay. Our server was awesome and so thorough and was honest with the choices as well!

UPDATED May 25,2022: Frank took great care of us tonight @ the bar. Our dinner was perfect! A seriously professional establishment with a vibe that harkens back to a time "long before Covid". Our dinner and drinks were top notch, our server was beyond attentive (in a good way) and just the excitement in the room made for a memorable evening. Harry's is one of those places you can come back too time and again, and NEVER get bored. They could use the name to their advantage and rest on their laurels BUT they don't, they treat the name, Harry Caray's with the utmost respect and it shows. Thank you for a wonderful evening, we shall return!

Absolutely our favorite restaurant when we are here for business every six months! The mozzarella is SO yummy. I haven’t met a dish on the menu I didn’t love, especially the steaks. We love our waiter, Steve, who we request every time we are here. He will tell you all about the history of the building, which is always a fun addition to a nostalgic night.

Nice spot for dinner, I liked the atmosphere. I ordered the whitefish oreganato and the maitai cocktail. The fish was nice and fresh, and had good seasoning to it. Nice and light. A little bit overpriced it my opinion for the portion. Overall good experience!

I came with my colleagues together looking for great food after the whole day training. The restaurant was decorated with 1930s style. The food recommendation was great. The Toasted Ravioli with tomato sauce was crispy and chewy. The BLT Wedge salad was very freshly with crunchy bacons. The New York strip is prepared nicely and perfectly with Medium rare. The side dishes of roasted mushroom and Brussels sprouts are matched perfectly and well prepared. Overall it was a very nice gathering.

Ordered the petite filet and the oscar filet. One medium rare, one medium. Both came out cooked perfectly! The potatoes were well whipped and seasoned very nice. Seasoning on the steak was also perfect! Service was immaculate with the server and even manager making rounds regularly to check on us. The ceasar salad was delicious, and dressed moderately. No complaints, everything was excellent. Will definitely return .

A great bar and restaurant in Chicago with lots of history and photos to explore. One of the must see items is the vault of Netti's vault in the basement of the bar. There is also one of the escape tunnels from the vault to his residence across the street. If you are interested in the Chicago history of the "MOB" this is one unique place to visit. We were also lucky(?) enough to see the naked bike ride outside the bar.

The food was excellent and the atmosphere is perfect for an intimate night or business meeting or even a large group. Food was really good, especially the brussel sprouts and the steak was cooked perfectly. I had the peppercorn layer added to my filet. Side note: The service was great, but I do feel like it was a little over whelming at times. Maybe I was not used to that type of service, but I felt interrupted frequently. Not really sure if there is such a thing as too much service but I do feel as if though at times we were an inconvenience if not ordering or ready with their pace. I like to personally enjoy the time sitting and talking and enjoying the company of others and some wine or coffee and many times I felt very rushed being asked lots of questions, although I know they were only trying to be helpful. Not bad service at all, just different.

Chicago classic with history 💎 A casual Italian comfort food restaurant with a fun environment in a historic building. Great food for a cozy dinner in Chicago. The pasta was cooked well, the sauce was tasty and we loved all the steakhouse sides. We had a great bottle of wine and plenty of food at a reasonable price. Service was very friendly and fun. Make sure to visit the museum downstairs for some fun history!

First time in a long time where I just enjoyed my company and meal and didn't take a single photo. Every single thing we had was amazing, from the calamari to the creamed corn, the steak and veggies just all chef's kiss!! Our waiter, I believe his name was Steve was excellent and so hospitable. Next time I'm back in Chicago, I will have to make another trip to Harry Caray's. Edit: Came back in Jan. 2024 for lunch, had the steak salad, lasagna, and of course the calamari and it hit the spot. A must whenever I'm in town.

While a bit "touristy" this place was phenomenal. We were seated right away on a March Madness Sunday in the bar area at 4:30 so no complaints there. The food was great, our server was super friendly and nice even with how swamped she was (maybe 2-3 servers for the entire bar area), and the decor was really neat. There's tons of celebrity photos and sports memorabilia on the main floor and in the basement tons of memorabilia and information about the Mob's history of the building and all of Chicago. 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone, local or not. They have a comprehensive Gluten Free menu as well and my wife had no issues with the Gluten Free pasta.

Best of Chicago. Harry might be gone but his spirit and charm live on at this fantastic restaurant. Everything was fresh, tasteful and the service was great. Definitely a must for anyone looking for a great meal at an affordable price in Chicago. So much baseball and Chicago history on display.

Enjoyed a fantastic meal at a Chicago Landmark! (Ironically I didn't know the place existed until we saw while checking into our hotel. The establishment came highly recommend by the hotel kinsie front desk staff so we had to give it a shot! For the meal we started with the fried Ravioli appetizer, the wife had Chicken Marsala, I had a Kansas City Strip, Mac and cheese, roasted brussel sprouts in a honey vinaigrette, and we concluded with the cheesecake and key lime pie. From the very start we were extremely impressed with the ambiance ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, history of the building, all the sports memorabilia, service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, menu selection, execution of the food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, and experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Our server Steve ( a 20 year veteran of Harry Caray's make sure to request him!!!!) was amazing and even concluded the evening with a tour of this historic building. The stories of Frank Nitti and Al Capone were the icing on the cupcake of a great meal and experience. If you're in downtown Chicago Harry's is a must try....even if you're not a cubs fan :-) #mcdowellreview #chicago #harrycaray #primebeef #oldschool #italiansteakhouse

Started with the calamari for an appetizer. The breading was light and flavorful. Didn't even need the marinara sauce. The steak was cooked a little more than the rare I requested but still ok. The space has lot of baseball memorabilia. The coolest part though, was the history of the building and the hidden hidey hole in the basement from Chicago's mob days.

What an absolute gem of a place! This is the kind of place you bring people to show them the best of Chicago! The drinks are great! 9/10 and the steak is 10/10 - Mac and cheese was 8.75/10 and the Brussel sprouts 8.5/10 the ravioli was 9/10 … the service is 10/10 and fast! Totally would come here again and again The best steak is with truffle butter! Keep it up!!!

We dined at Harry Carey’s on August 11. We sat at the bar so we could watch the Field of Dreams baseball game. Interestingly enough, I had been inside Harry Carey’s the day before as I had taken the Chicago Gangster Crime tour and this restaurant (and the basement safe/hidden passageway) was on the tour as a stop. Firstly, there is a ton of history in this building. Loaded with great photos and news clippings. I could have spent two hours just looking at all that stuff alone. So over to dinner. We were greeted immediately at the bar by our bartender. Ordered our drinks and delivered within minutes. We were then handed a basket of homemade fresh cut potatoe chips lightly salted by which we devoured. So yummy. We shared a 14 oz strip loin steak, a wedge salad and grilled asparagus - served with complimentary buns and butter. Salad was fresh light and crisp with delicious dressing. The steak served perfectly (medium) and hot, as were the asparagus. We were too full for dessert so we took a tiramisu to go - eaten by my hubby who said it was the best he’s ever had with a slight hint of booze (not overpowering). I would highly recommend. If it wasn’t for the Gangster Crime Tour I would not have even considered this restaurant (I had checked out the menu the day before and all the servers were super friendly and welcoming). I believe they have a large private space upstairs too for large groups as both days there were large events. Also, all servers are male professionals who clearly take their roles seriously and work incredibly well as a team. Different people brought the food, the buns and cleaned up promptly. The level of professionalism was impressive. Again - these gents take great pride in what they do and do it very well.

The steak was delicious. Prices were a bit high for what you got. The server was great and helpful, but did get distracted with a large group for half the service. Good food and a nice spot to visit for the history.

I had an amazing dining experience at Harry Caray's Italian Restaurant! The ambiance was inviting, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. Came for Thanksgiving, since we were in from out of town and wanted reservations at a restaurant close to our hotel. I ordered the Thanksgiving Prime Rib special. The meat was ok, but the garlic mashed potatoes were amazing, and the carrots were good. My daughter got the shrimp scampi, with large delicious shrimp. She thought the sauce was too oily for her tastes. We also split a Caesar salad, which had excellent croutons. I had the Dutchie drink, which was good, but sweet. We were celebrating my daughter’s birthday and they provided an amazing slice of their key lime pie. Staff was extremely pleasant, especially considering it was a holiday. Prices were also very reasonable.

We had a great time learning about this restaurant while dining. We visited the safe in the basement and the history about the place. The food was great! I recommend it highly. We were told that empty table in the picture is where the boss sites to eat. You may want to have your picture taken with the bull in the hallway.

We stopped in before our flight back home. The dining room was not open but the bright, airy bar was, which was really perfect for late lunch/early dinner with kids. We seriously feel we get a better vibe of restaurants during their less busy times and this did not disappoint. Alexis was fantastic! She had the right amount of timing and follow-up and told us honestly the serving sizes/portion amounts. The Caesar was fresh and delicious, easy for all of us to dip into it. The lasagna was generous, just right for two adults. Presentation for everything was lovely. They had a good kids menu, $10-ish a meal with a complimentary sundae. The ambience of the first floor was just lovely, I wish it has been a Date Night. I would have loved to try some of the other options but it' hard when a) traveling b) with youngsters. Give yourself some time to peruse the all of the photos and news articles, and the Frank Nitti vault. (Caesar salad, Lasagna, 1 kid's meal, 3 soda drinks, 1 white wine = $72, pre-tax)

Was in Chicago for the weekend and decided to get a reservation at Harry Carays. Our waiter was amazing. The food was spectacular, we got three pasta dishes as well as the Filet Mignon. The charcuterie board was top tier. Be sure to ask about the secret menu, Harry is a great guy.

This restaurant is a proper restaurant experience. Hosted a team kick off dinner here and was not disappointed- our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive. When asked for his opinion he gave unbiased perspectives. The food was outstanding and left nothing to be desired. I would recommend the Chicken Parmesan. The lighting was a bit dim, but it certainly matched the charm of the environment.

Despite being a large venue it’s a very, very busy steakhouse and particularly so over the marathon weekend so book if you are there over a busy period. Full ‘white cloth’ table service and a lovely gentleman explained the menu and made suggestions. We were a party of 6 including one child who was catered well for. The youngster had spaghetti bolognaise which he enjoyed and the rest of us had steak or salmon. We ordered the calamari to share as an entree or starter and one plate would’ve been enough but the server recommended 2. A basket of bread rolls was included. We also ordered too many sides (3) to share as recommended and again too much so if you are not big eaters be careful there. The dinner was an expensive (especially for Aussies) but worthwhile experience. It has been the destination of many VIP’s and celebrities over the years and the restaurant boasts this unashamedly with the walls covered in photos of them. I’d say 4.5⭐️

Nice place, it was easy to find a table there. Overall environment is calm, staff is polite. Very old place - around 70 years old or so. The food is fresh and tasty however nothing special at all. You will not want to come back most likely but no complaints after first visit - that’s kind of place it is. If hoped to have some real Italian taste then you should go somewhere else.

If you had to eat in one Chicago restaurant, this is the place to be. This steakhouse puts many steakhouses to shame. The staff is so hospitable, professional and attentive. The food is delicious! It is cozy with a charming atmosphere of an old steakhouse who mastered the craft. The staff from the reception to the servers were incredible and even introduced the staff who is from Oaxaca when I mentioned I love the city! I cannot rave about this place enough. You have to come because it is not just a meal- it is an experience.

Elena was absolutely amazing! I am a tough customer because I am on a strict low sodium diet. Elena was kind of enough to speak with the chef and alter my meal to make sure it was flavorful and fabulous! I had the shrimp scampi and it was unbelievable (even with no added salt). Typically, restaurants do the bare minimum and I end up with bland food. Not Harry Caray's or Elena! Did I mention that the martinis are incredible also? No trendy small cocktail glasses here. Full size, delicious martinis! Love the classic tunes too! We will definitely be back!

“Holy cow!” Can you believe that this is our 3rd visit to the “Windy City” and yet only our 1st review of Harry’s place? Well, in an effort to avoid the “3 strikes and you’re out” maxim, it’s finally time to “clean up” this situation. For me the first question that came to mind upon entering was: is this place a museum or a restaurant? The sheer number of pictorial homages to Harry is nearly overwhelming if you choose to view each one. So taken by the ambience and easy conversations to be had, our visit spanned nearly 5 hours and if you linger any place long enough you’re bound to learn a few things. Whether it was chatting it up with the friendly bartender or the patrons seated near us, the happy stories seemed endless (including about a manager here who’s actually a Phillies fan and the former coal tunnels still located beneath us). Eat here, don’t eat here. Just get here, pull up a stool, and chat with whomever is nearest you as if that person were as gregarious as Harry himself. He’d want it that way. Cheers, Harry! “A one, a two, a three”, and that’s…Henry’s Take. #henryatharrysplace

Awesome place! There is the bar side. More laid back bar atmosphere. Tons of memorabilia everywhere. Then the restaurant side is more fancy. I had the chicken Marcella it was absolutely delicious! I loved it. We got mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese for sides. They have Pepsi products. Our service was great. My cousin was in town and she is a huge Cubs fan she was so excited we brought her there.

The food was exceptional! The service was atrocious. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation, but they were able to seat us. The ambiance of all the memorabilia was awesome as I am a huge baseball fan. Now, we sit down and a guy (I didn't know who he was at the moment) comes over to us about 5 minutes later, shows us the UPC code and says that's the menu and walks away. Doesn't say he is our server or anything. So we are looking at our phones for the menu. A few minutes later some other guy drops off silverware and a couple of glasses of water and bread. Still no one has announced himself as our server. 15 minutes pass by and still wondering who the heck is our waiter. Finally I make eye contact with the guy who told us about the menu and I ask him over and I ask him are you our server, and he was. And we said we wanted to order and he says "what do you want." Not exactly filled with manners. So then I asked him the differences on a couple of steaks that were the same but termed differently. He starts explaining in detail which was great, but then my fiance asked a question and he basically responds to her to hold on cause he is talking to me. I was like whoa my man, that's my fiance. If she asks you a question, you can answer it. You don't need to respond that way. That was rude and unnecessary. He did apologize. But it was a sign of what was to come. The food came. It was exceptional. The mac and cheese and brussel sprouts were great. The New York strips were amazing, especially the dry aged one I ordered. What he said was on point - the dry aged is very flavorful, the grass fed a bit tougher, but no hormones. Go with the dry aged if you want better flavor and an easier steak to chew. Now, we sat with empty water glasses for quite some time. It was damn near impossible to get his attention. He damn sure wasn't voluntarily coming to our table. He never made eye contact. Just an awful server in my opinion. Maybe it was a bad day, but dang, I gave him a lot of chances to not completely suck. Eventually, I am sitting there and he comes over and says "it's good huh." He doesn't ask me if I enjoyed my meal. He told me it was good. He didn't ask me if there was anything else I would like. It was just a bad service experience. But the food was excellent.

Five stars. Our waiter was top notch. He put us in a private section for our anniversary. He was very attentive to the details of the food order, and gave us excellent suggestions. I enjoyed the sausage and peppers, and my wife the filet mignon. He suggested a side pf brussel sprouts but they were too spicy for my wife. He had them taken off. What a beautiful service for our anniveraary. I would recommend. It was in a great area.

This was the best steak I’ve ever had and I’ve had my share of steaks. Each bite melted in your mouth literally. The staff was on top of it and friendly. Very clean and beautiful inside. Also the history of the building was interesting and made it even more memorable.

Italian food at this location - yummy. I love this place. There was quick and friendly service. This place has a cool atmosphere. Food is similar to a place in San Francisco I loved.

The whole Harrys team rolled out the red carpet and made a memorable night for my Mothers birthday and recent retirement. Our server Lupe was very personable and knowledgeable with his Wet aged recommendations. Best steak I've ever had~20oz. Wet aged Ribeye. Holy 🐄! Can't wait to come back and will highly recommend to anyone visiting Chicago.

Cool OG steakhouse, like the kind your parents went to back in the day. Dim, white table clothes, old school tile floor that reminds you of your grandparents house...and oh yea, the steaks were incredible, and I could have made an entire meal out of the sauteed mushrooms and the brussel sprouts sides. Service was on point 💯 and the old fashioned cocktail was perfect. Do yourself a favor and go.

I loved this restaurant! From the warm and friendly staff, the space and of course the food was amazing. I had the Whitefish Oreganato which was absolutely delicious and flavorful! I will definitely come back to this restaurant on my next trip to Chicago!

It was cool to visit Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse. I ordered for my dinner the Tenderloin linguine. The steak in the pasta is so tenderI, mushrooms and the bell peppers cooked medium they gives amazing juice to the food, and I guess spaghetti is homemade (I didn’t ask sorry). It’s so delicious food I recommend you. Thank you so much Harry Caray’s steakhouse!

Just okay. The the food is good but the bartenders are cranky! We've been in a few times and the bartenders can be down right mean. I get that they have to deal with tourists but that's how they make money.

Harris' restaurant is a Chicago local classic! I've been coming here for years for my birthday dinner and have truly never been disappointed. I would definitely get a steak since it's a steakhouse and their baked potato and potatoes au gratin were amazing. I would take Harris' over House of Prime Rib any day of the year. #faithfulness

This is a great place to come for a holiday dinner. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and the staff are warm and friendly. The food is good too! We go once a year when in town for the holidays and it always delivers. I didn’t try the baseball dessert but that looked like it was a lot of fun too. Harry Caray's is a great local place to have steak or Italian food. The staff is very helpful and friendly with a very good selection of different foods. You can not go wrong with anything you order from the menu. The place has a great bar to enjoy after a great meal. Enjoy!!

I have eaten here more than 25 times. My favorite bar and restaurant in Chicago. Great wheat beer that is difficult to find elsewhere. Sliced steak, roasted ravioli, perfection! This place has great atmosphere.

One of my favorite downtown restaurants, great food, great atmosphere and excellent service, also good for private events. Dont forget to check out Al Capones "vault" while you're there.
