Nice cozy restaurant, within walking distance of Millennium Park. I am not a big fan of sushi however I gave this place a try because my daughter loves sushi. The restaurant is pretty clean and I like the ambiance. They have a rich menu. The Chinese Zodiac page that we received with the menu kept us entertained for a while. The service part was odd. The lady who helped us didn't like that we were new to this restaurant and asked questions about the food they have. We ordered Spicy shrimp for appetizers, Sushi Gold and Shrimp Bento. Sushi Gold came with a variety of sushi and most of them were delicious. We didn't like the Spicy Shrimp Sushi, It wasn't spicy at all and it had a weird taste that we didn't enjoy. Shrimp Bento was good but it is not something I would order again. I will give this restaurant a try one more time since I feel like the waitress made us uncomfortable and we picked the wrong items in a rush. Hopefully next time we will meet with someone more knowledgeable about their menu and happy to help us !!

Please, DO NOT order anything from the menu that is non-sushi related. Zero flavor, zero taste. Presentation was nice but the food simply had, no flavor what so ever. The sushi was awesome but the purpose of the visit was the other meals offered and they were not on the order again list. Service was great, friendly, and the area was clean but please, only order the sushi.

Great place for a quick bite or a larger Asian fusion meal. Really good variety on the menu, a lot of custom sushi rolls to choose from, surprisingly varied drinks menu with beer, wine and cocktails. Service was really friendly and very fast. Interior is simple and comfortable, not fancy. Food tasted freshly cooked and well seasoned. Would go back!

Really liked this place. It was a little pricey, but you have to take into consideration the location, right across the street from The Bean. Hit food came out nice and hit, and the drinks were delicious. Pretty retro vibe, woth indoor or outdoor dining available. Would visit again.

The food here was sooo delicious and well worth the money. I haven't had ramen in forever and it was worth the wait. We came during lunch and it wasn't that busy but later for dinner it was packed in the restaurant! Such a cute place, the servers were so nice and helpful.

Really enjoyable munch. Service was super fast.. everything came out faster than I was expecting. Got some Maki which was delicious...picked ginger and Wasabi both v good. Then had some Ramen....also very nice... Chicken for ramen was served seperate in a bowl..was battered chicken.. not bad on its own but not sure it complimented the ramen very much. Main bowl of ramen pretty good. Would def return to try some other dishes.

High quality sushi and a cool, relaxed vibe. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the servers are really nice. The Black Dragon and Bitcoin signature rolls were incredible. The Sashimi Silver Platter was also delish. You pay by scanning a QR code on your receipt. Watch out if you scan the QR code on the table for the menu. There’s an ad that will try to get you to sign up for something lame. Besides that you can’t go wrong with this place.

Yep, that was a tourist trap. 5* for the food presentation, the setting and service. 1* for the actual food taste. The Crab Rangoon was OK, albeit a little raw on the inside. The Black Dragon sushi? Meh. Didn't taste like anything, really. Looked great but not much in terms of taste. My wife ordered the Tofu steak. The presentation looked incredible. Taste? They didn't even bother marinate the Tofu. They didn't even buy the correct kind. This wasn't firm tofu, it was super soft tofu, pan-fried in a tasteless batter to make it look good. The tempura onion rings were also flavorless. Generally speaking their tempuras are all quite weak. My Garlic ramen was extremely meh. Had a very weak umami flavor, and the chicken karaage was flavorless. I asked for it to be mild but it wasn't. The noodles? Biggest shocker: Felt and tasted like store bought instant noodles. That was definitely not Udon. For what we paid for this extremely weak meal, we could have driven north and had an epic Peking Duck meal at Sun-Wah. Shouldn't have expected much from a place right in front of the bean.

Our 2nd time here, food was very good. I understand the HWCS crew has been working hard, an almost 5 star experience. I had to search the menu on my phone for a minute for what we saw we wanted to order and it was a little longer than our server wanted me to take to order. Perception is reality. Though during our meal the staff was attentive and also asked how everything was. We ordered the cucumber salad, I can tell the cucumbers were fresh, the dressing was tasty but the temperature was room temperature. My personal opinion the cucumber salad should be chill cold making it more refreshing on a warm day like today. We ordered sushi all presented well on the plates, a few rolls were a little loose. The flavors spot on! I tried the Thai ice coffee, I think I prefer the Thai ice tea! Delicious and very good service!

Really should pay more attention to their customers uh that I asked for a container to go and to pay my bill that they had taken everybody else's money. In they never would come back to take their money finally we got it paid. But I think they need to pay more attention but the food was awesome atmosphere was awesome would love to go again.

food was good! Tom yum ramen was nice; not the best I've had, but definitely still good. Alaskan roll was also good: fish tastes fresh and the rice was well cooked, and the rice to filling ratio was good too. vibes are great; interior design is simple yet pleasant. there's even little games on the backside of the table mat, which was AWESOME.

It is such a shame that it is not possible to give <1 stars when rating restaurants. Would totally do so for this restaurant. Food was okay. Chinese fried rice was nice; tonkatsu ramen bowl was average. However, service was atrocious. Simply horrible. Every crew member was incredibly rude, almost to the point that it feels like they were planted there to make customers' dining experiences suck. When served our meal, the waitress was extremely grouchy. Furthermore, when we asked for one extra bowl, another waitress replied extremely caustically and cynically, "and anything else?" Made the atmosphere extremely uncomfortable and made us feel like it is illegal to ask for anything outside of what is provided—albeit extremely grouchily and reluctantly—by the crew. However, that was not it. Adding insult to injury was how the crew reacted after they found out about our discontent. After the second waitress (the one who cynically asked if we needed anything more) left, we talked among ourselves, agreeing not to provide any tip because of the simply egregious service. The crew must have overheard because after we passed the comment, every crew member became shockingly, artificially smiley when they passed by our table. Even when none of us were paying very much attention, we noticed out of the corner of our eyes that the crew would artificially smile at us. And finally, before we were finished, a waiter abruptly cleared the table without even asking us (as a matter of fact, we were not done). Not long after, the first waitress (the one who served us our meal) passed us the bill. This waitress then returned a while later, and waited as we wrote down the tip, smiling gleefully in anticipation of the cash. We kept to what we had said earlier about the tip, and the waitress immediately stomped off upon seeing the tip, and left the job of giving us back the bill, to the waiter. Collectively, these behaviors demonstrated that the crew put on smiley faces only when they realized that the revenue they receive would not be the amount they anticipated; they only tried to act more polite for the sake of the tip. We were totally cheesed off and would very much down-promote this restaurant.

As a vegetarian, I was very happy to try the tofu steak. It was delicious. Prices were very reasonable for being right across from Millennium Park. Our service was very friendly and attentive. Will be back!

We came here for lunch today and had an excellent time! The ambiance was nice and welcoming, with good music playing in the background. We ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box, spicy garlic ramen, and beef teriyaki bento box. The portion sizes are huge, the prices are reasonable, and the food is all delicious. We will definitely be back to try their sushi and other menu items!

delicious food and such kind servers! there’s a whole vegan/vegetarian section on the menu, which i really appreciated. my friend had a severe nut allergy and they clarified whether every single item on the table had nuts/possible cross contamination (without us even asking them to do that) so that we knew what we could share. they also gave us pens to complete the christmas activities on the kids menu😁 SO nice!!!

Always on the lookout for vegan dining options, we didn't think we'd have the amazing luck of finding an Asian place about 50 feet from our hotel, but we did! Get the Mega Vega and you're good to go. You mostly taste the sweet potato in it, but it's still very good and very vegan and that's the most important thing. We had a bit of a wait for what seemed like the only waitstaff person working the entire front of the diner and the outside seating area, but it was worth the wait. She sanitized our table and was very attentive. I wish someone would offer a vegan Thai Iced Tea or Coffee, though. Whenever you ask for that, no one ever says they have it.

Great variety of food at decent prices. I think the menu has a lot of thai, chinese, and japanese options so for people who are indecisive/in the mood for a bunch of dishes, this is the place. The fish tasted quite fresh and the seaweed and cucumber salads were amazing. Good service and good food! Totally recommend!

This was a great stop after going to the Art Institute and the bean in millennium park! Super nice staff, quick service, and a great vibe. The food was super tasty too, my bf got a the Tom Yum Ramen bowl and I got the Pad Thai which was great! Definitely will be stopping here again :)

We loved the food, drinks, price point and service. Will definitely visit again. It’s right across from the Bean (cloud gate) and the art institute of Chicago so it’s the perfect spot for lunch. The Crab Rangoon were crispy and the filling was delicious. It was not too sweet or salty but very black pepper heavy. Mango Pudding was a custard based with fresh mangos. The texture was silky smooth and taste was refreshing. Perfect way to end the meal.

I was walking by and decided to try this place. The Sushi was good but the General Tso chicken was not so good, it looked great but was average at best. If I went again, I’d only order the sushi. The wait time for a seat was very short and the staff are very friendly here.

Sushi rolls tasted good! It was fun to eat a “Sushi” donut for the first time. I ordered the Chicken Cashew dish and the white meat chicken tasted juicy and bouncy.

I have been fortunate enough to have some delicious sushi in my day, and the sushi at Hot Woks is at the top of the list. The unassuming interior contains a menu that is staggering in its breadth and impressive in its execution. With such a variety, anyone can find something to enjoy. Those seeking unique rolls will not be disappointed, and folks who just want the classics will be impressed. If you're looking for sushi near Millennium Park, Hot Woks should be at the top of your list.

Solid Japanese food. Pretty much all menu options are good. Easy, good family alternative, reasonably priced, right in front of the Millennium Park. Good portions, super quick service. Can't go wrong! Quieter during the weekend!

Must try the firecrackers sushi and their sashimi's! We love the Ramen too, soothing for cold weather like when we dined in here. Has outside seating, located right across Millennium park, staff were all nice. Just watch out for some creep people that will lean over to you and talked made-up Chinese words and asked for money. Lol.

I went with some friends as tourists. The restaurant itself was a little dark, however the service was great. The food is a little pricy, but it is delicious!

The server Mint was nice, service was good! The food orange chicken, Tom yam soup and the drink Lychee Mimisa was not on point. Sorry to say because I’ve been eating Asian Food as well and was not meet my expectations.

We really enjoyed this place. It was not too busy and the menu was great and was close to everything in the tourist zone.. We had ramen and some tempura. It tried the sushi bagel. It tasted good. I didn't know how to eat it though. It was a mess. We will return next time we are in Chicago.
