Transported to another time and even another space. The restaurant vibe is conducive to long meaningful conversations with good friends. The prices here are not bad and the value of what you get is exceptional. Even simple dishes and ingredients get elevated from the flavor combinations and thoughtful preparation. The kitchen is super clean and set up in a very functional manner. You can see the cooks working together as you pass the open door and smell the aroma of sauces bubbling and vegetables roasting. Lighting has been done in a manner than attends to detail. Creativity in the menu and the development of each dish is evident. As a first time diner at Lula, I’ll make sure to be back again!

Fantastic gem of a place that stands out in spite of all the other amazing spots in the Logan square area. The restaurant has a very cute ambiance and decor. Food and drinks were extraordinary. Very attentive service as well. We had to wait for over an hour for a Sunday brunch but our experience exceeded expectations.

This cafe is tucked away in Logan Square. We stopped on our way back from dropping a family member at Ohare. We both had coffee and we share the brisket breakfast sandwich and a earl grey French toast. Both here tasty. I loved the sandwich and the slaw that it was served with. Service was quick and friendly. I loved the interior space and the magazines to read.

I had a wonderful brunch experience at Lula Cafe. The cozy ambiance and attentive staff created a welcoming atmosphere. Although the PASTA ‘YIAYIA’ was a bit dry, the overall meal was satisfying. I appreciated the emphasis on locally sourced ingredients throughout the menu. I look forward to revisiting soon for another delightful experience. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Such a cut, cozy and delicious spot in Logan Square, Chicago! My boyfriend and I came here for my birthday lunch as it was highly recommended from a friend who lived nearby. I loved how fast and nice the service was. The food was beyond 😍 we loved the beets bruschetta and the special soup of the day - lentil & mushroom soup. The bread that came with it was toasted to perfection! We both loved our main entrees. I only wish they would offer more variety for meat eaters but it seems like this is more of a vegan/vegetarian friendly place. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to come back when I visit Chicago again. Maybe then I’ll try them out for dinner. Really appreciate this local gem :)

Don't worry if it's busy, it is worth the wait. I look forward to a return visit. Bring your hunger - portions are large. Mood here is similar to Fresno's scene.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Incredible food, presentation, and portions. Super cool, friendly, and chill staff. Cute, warm, homey atmosphere. Great vibe. The cocktails? Superb. The baked French feta? Crazy. The CHICKEN? Insane. The PECORINO CAKE?? DUMMY. This is the spot to take your friends when they visit Chicago and you wanna show off how cool you are and how great your taste is. This is the spot you book for dinner to celebrate your one year with that special someone. This is the place that puts out banger after banger consistently and will never let you down.

Overall a great meal and very responsibly priced. Even on a Sunday, 2 of us were able to get walk-in seating at the bar immediately. Service was attentive and food came quick. The pancakes were large and only $9, which in my book, is a great deal - especially considering the real maple syrup. Very tasty and definitely more going on than just diner pancakes. Almond Financier was also great. Will return.

Absolutely Exquisite!! The food, the service the ambiance!! My wife and I were pleasantly, thoroughly stunned. We WILL be back. Keep in mind this is not inexpensive. However it is 100% worth it!! Thank you Lula staff!!

Sometimes places are over-hyped. Lula is not one of those. The meals are well balanced, just right, and everything you want. I will be dreaming of this breakfast burrito for a while, crispy tortilla with cheesy eggs inside. The side sauces are incredible. French omelette was creamy and side salad was very fresh. The trout scramble was also insanely delicious. Not a crumb was left behind! Wait was 1.5hrs on Sat morning for a table of 5 at 10am. Wait on a Monday (holiday) at 9:30 for a table of 4 was 30min. They bring a super cute postcard with the check. Hostess was friendly and helpful, all staff was very attentive. They kept the coffee flowing and the food came very quickly.

Lula Cafe is one of the best Chicago brunch places I have ever been to. We started off with some pastries. The rosemary donut was nice and fluffy, the hand pie crispy and savory, and the matcha donut was crunchy from the coconut which complimented the matcha flavor... which is why the matcha was my favorite. We also got bread potatoes and some tuna mixed with eggs, A salmon (lox) with avocado toast, chilled peanut noodles, and the brioche french toast with a dark chocolate cookie crumble and blueberry lavender jam. All of which was very flavorful and delicious. One of my favorite things about Lula Cafe is their lemonade. It was one of the most fresh delicious, low sugar lemonades I ever had. Lula Cafe has definitely set the bar high for brunch in Chicago.

Updated: Lula Cafe is back open for dine in and eating there is just as wonderful as ever! We had their Meyer Lemon Gnocchi and Chickpea and Fennel Tagine and both were amazing! First time having a brunch spin on pasta… a new favorite! Lula never disappoints. Their flavors are always so fresh and combinations are unique and simply delicious. Recently got both the turkey sandwich and chilled peanut satay noodles from their to-go brunch menu and they were amazing! Also love the Pasta Yia-Yia (it was my go-to pre-pandemic) and they also have a kit you can purchase to make it at home. Highly recommend - it’s such a unique and delicious dish. Their staff is always so friendly as well!

My wife and I chose to eat at a nearby Italian restaurant. We both like Italian food, and the supper was pleasantly surprising! The waitresses greeted us warmly and led us to our seats. They will also answer all of your questions honestly. We will return and recommend this restaurant to our friends.

We were surprised by how great the food was. There are a few gluten free options, but I wish there were more.

First off, the staff is exceptional! They know and love Lula Cafe and the menu and it shows. Now the food was also incredible. We went for dinner and I was blown away. Each course just kept getting better and their signature, Greek inspired pasta dish was one of the best dishes I may have ever eaten. I simply can’t recommend Lula Cafe enough.

  • 5/5 Chris T. 2 years ago on Google
A really fantastic meal. Cocktails were well balanced and smooth. The oysters came with a mandarin mignonette which was probably the best mignonette I've had. Chicken liver mousse was fine but a little watery in texture. The pasta yaya was delicious with a nice added touch of cinnamon which took it to another level. The star of the evening was the striped bass which had perfect accompaniments of oyster mushrooms, endive, and some sort of nut. The dish as a whole was a real winner. Tried two different specialty ice creams for dessert and both were exceptional. Servers were very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu and portions.

Excellent experience. Somewhere between hip and warm service; quality, ingredient centered food; and a nice vibe. We had seasonal dishes of risotto and morel mushrooms and braised lamb with barley.

Baked feta was super smooth and delicious. The bread was the perfect texture. The fish was the bomb. Super flavorful. Pork chop was good. Rice pudding just ok, but I’m not a big rice pudding person.

Superb dinner at Lula Cafe. Called morning of and got a last minute 5pm reservation on the patio. Once we arrived, the restaurant quickly filled - a testament to their popularity. The menu had both classics and seasonal items listed along with extensive cocktails and wines to choose from. We had a bottle of orange wine, oysters, roasted peach polenta, roasted dorade, and spaghetti. The food was outstanding and contained extremely fresh seasonal ingredients and flavors. Service and overall atmosphere was great as well. 10/10 recommend especially if looking for a unique spot in Chicago.

First time here and I know I will become a regular customer! The steak and eggs was on a well side but still amazing but the toast with fresh tomatoes and balsamic vinegar was just mouth watering experience! After sharing one we could not resist and ordered it again to enjoy the experience one more time !!!! Simply breathtaking ❤️❤️❤️ Kudos for being a dog friendly establishment and out furbaby got her own bowl of ice water served to the table ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!!

Farm to table flavors in every bite. Top quality food matched with top notch service. The breakfast burrito is bomb.

The flavors are amazing and quality is top notch. I'm sad to only have recently tried Lula Cafe, but it's now in my top 10 and hopefully a staple in my life.

This place had one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. Really light and fresh tasting with spices and veggies and just lots of flavor without being super heavy. I will say if it's your first time to just treat the experience like an adventure. There's some strange sounding ingredients and unusual combinations but everything tastes really good and is balanced as a group. You have to just trust the process and they will bring you something really good I swear. You're going outside your comfort zone to expand your horizons. Recommend reserving a table because otherwise there is a 30-40min wait.

Walked in for Sunday brunch and it was such a great spot! There were only ~2 brunch mains that were gluten free but they have a smaller menu in general, so wasn’t bothered by it. Got the special Carolina gold rice with a fried egg, which was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Server was knowledgeable about menu/allergies. A 20% gratuity was already included and was reasonably priced. Would definitely go again!

My GF and I went here on a Sunday evening and it was a fantastic experience. Dinner service was incredibly prompt and our waitress was on TOP of it. Came in at the most appropriate times and didn't came too often. We tried out the Roasted Chicken, the Lula's salad, and the Lobster and Squash Toast. The toast was really good and but the squash was a little bland. The salad was very refreshing and every piece of ingredient felt fresh and added a lot to the flavors. And the roast chicken was an extremely solid 9.5/10. This is the second best chicken dish I have ever had in my whole life, coming second to the prosciutto and goat cheese stuffed chicken I had at the Portland City Grill 9 years ago (completely unforgettable experience by the way, for those that will ever stop by Portland). The meat was juicy, tender, and had that awesome ability to soak up flavor, which is super uncommon in restaurant whole chicken dishes. The potatoes were an incredible awesome garnishes and also soaked up the flavor well and I love the touch with using toasted bread to prop up the chicken and soak in the flavor. Absolutely amazing dish, would come back for this one (this is under the "classics"). We finished everything off with the pecorino cake, the lula carrot cake, and the blackberry peach sorbet. Every piece of desert did not feel heavy, very pleasant to eat, and the pecorino cake had some incredible ingenuity to it. I think this is one of my favorite desert experience in all of Chicago so far. Overall experience was phenomenal, will be coming back!

There’s a reason that Lula Cafe is recommended to me by every Chicagoan that I ask for a spot to brunch at! On both of my visits to this Logan Square staple I’ve dined in their outdoor patio area. It’s perfectly nice but be aware it does back up to a busy sidewalk that on weekends often hosts art fairs and thrift sales (which to me, is a dream in and of itself). The food is excellent with an array of classic and eclectic brunch and lunch options for you to choose from. I was impressed with the pancakes and crispy side of potatoes particularly, though the mimosa will also refreshing after a long run. Didn’t have a chance to stop inside, but there’s indoor seating for days with colder conditions. Be prepared to wait in line- during peak brunch times id say to put your name in 30-45 minutes before you’re ready to eat. Luckily the area isn’t lacking in shops to keep you entertained as you wait for your table.

Interesting place. Food was good, vibe was lively. Definitely a hangout for locals split, at weekday brunch at least, 50% hipsters (or wannabes) and 50% moms with prams. Service was ever so slightly condescending, but that comes standard these days with the hipster (or wannabes 🤣) vibe. And it wasn’t offensively so. Food was creative, relatively well put together, but was better on the menu than on the plate. All in all a great brunch option, if I lived around the corner I’d probably frequent, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to travel here.

We intentionally stop by from the airport in our way to downtown. It did not disappoint. We got a table for too relatively quick. Very cool place! It did take long to actually get our waters and order put in. Food really really good!

We really loved the place! The food was so tasty and the combination of flavours was spot on. While we were full, we had to have dessert which didn’t disappoint! The staff was very friendly and attentive. We will come next time we are in town.

Really enjoyed brunch at the bar here. It was super crowded Saturday morning, but got two seats at the bar and enjoyed ourselves. The service was really great and the space is lovely. All of our food was pretty solid as well. Just wish it was easier to get a table by getting on a virtual list or something. For drinks, we got the kedai kolada which has some pandan in it. Very tasty and sweet drink. Sweet corn and ricotta omelette was delicious and creamy. The chickpea and fennel tagine was also delicious and hearty, exactly what I was looking for on a cold fall morning. The blueberry french toast was tasty, but not exactly what we were looking for. It was not battered and grilled like a typical French toast but was more like a big milk bread/texas toast that was maybe toasted and then topped with blueberry compote/jam and crème fraiche. It wasn’t bad! But my definition of “French toast” is a bit different maybe?

Had an awesome happy hour and dinner with a colleague at Lula Cafe. Great service at the bar, GREAT cocktails, and amazing food. The Golden Beet dip was a lovely starter, the eggplant was savory and right on point for Fall weather, and the YiaYia pasta was like a hug from grandma (a very hip grandma). All around a great night.

Known for some of the best brunch in the city and it didn't disappoint! Food and drinks (pictured: Irish coffee, Mimosa, and breakfast burrito) were all excellent and made fresh. Had to wait about an hour but it was worth it. Great service too!

  • 4/5 Niki T. 5 months ago on Google
Nice and busy location. May have a wait, so don’t expect to just arrive and be seated, have patience. I only had the pancakes, which were delicious and light. You get a nice amount for the cost. Service was quick, so you won’t get a lot of “personality”, but that was fine. Cute, little spot. Parking options are street with meters.

Lula Cafe is an amazing, multicultural restaurant in Logan Square. We ordered a Bloody Mary and a pastry. All dishes on the menu are perfect. You can taste the care put into each ingredient.

The wait may be an hour, but it is worth it! I went with a group of 5 for brunch and we all loved our meals. I got the shakshuka and it was a perfect size with unbelievable flavors. The great thing, though, is you can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Such a great spot. Lula is somewhere I can't wait to bring people when they visit!

  • 4/5 Bill W. 3 months ago on Google New
We arrived at Lula Cafe around noon on a Saturday and waited about an hour for our group of four. Fortunately, there were several nearby coffee shops where we could pass the time while waiting. The service was friendly, and the intimate seating arrangement created a cozy atmosphere. The food was generally enjoyable, though some dishes stood out more than others. The Pasta Yiayia was a highlight, combing a great mix of savory, sweet, and garlicky flavors. Another enjoyable dish was the French Omelet, offering soft, creamy eggs with sweet butter on a piece of baguette. The Breakfast Burrito was also rich and satisfying. The smoked lake trout scramble fell a bit short on the other hand, lacking a distinct and memorable flavor.

  • 4/5 Yevette B. 3 months ago on Google New
Lula’s is a busy local spot located in the Logan Square neighborhood. It does a creative breakfast with interesting flavor combinations. Though the shrimp and grits were not offered the day we visited, the delicious smoked trout and eggs as well as the brioche miso glazed french toast were delicious. They also do a variety of breakfast sandwich creations that are very satisfying. There is often a wait, so be prepared, but it’s worth it.

  • 5/5 Sophia Winkler-Schor (Sophia W. 3 months ago on Google New
Lula is such an amazing place! The ingredients are good, super fresh and the dishes are so unique. I love how everything is creative even when it’s a classic dish. We had the flank steak brioche breakfast sandwich and the tofu scramble, 5 spices pumpkin bread and kale salad. Everything was very tasty! The portion of the flank steak was pretty small. I felt it could have had a bigger/more filling side for $24 but it was rich. My biggest complaint is the service charge. I don’t mind paying it but if you are making people pay 20% then just include the cost of labor in the menu items and don’t throw on an extra 20%. It feels less transparent than adding a few dollars to each item. No tipping restaurants are great and I think Lula could benefit from this model.

4 dollars for Tropicana orange juice. The breakfast burrito had nice texture on the outside, but I felt the flavors were just okay. Tofu scramble had fresh ingredients but the miso ginger glaze was lost. I was excited to try this place out, but I thought it was quite overpriced.

CHEF'S KISS. The burrito was also amazing - it's vegetarian, and filled with cheese, eggs, avocado, and potatoes. They also include three small ramekins of red salsa, green salsa, and sour cream. The burrito is lightly seared, so it's got a perfect subtle crunch. I will 100% be back!
