I haven't felt safe even going there in 5 years but I did drive by it yesterday no shots were fired!

So much has changed here in 11 years. Most of the anchor stores are gone as are a good chunk of the in-line tenants and the food court. I would not recommend visiting the small unless you absolutely have to or want to shop at Macy’s, which seems like a pretty nice store on its own.

I can't see this mall still being open in a year. almost half the stores are closed. the food court is shut down, Mall feels like a dingy dirty place. Nothing like its former glory. would not go back

Well, back in the 90s, this was the place to be, so much has changed in this area. It used to thrive on the weekends now it's becoming a ghost town. The vast majority of the stores are no longer there, and I do believe that in the next couple of years, it will be closing down.

Malls are in decline in general, but we went here and got a blast of nostalgia. You know what this place has? WATER FEATURES! I feel like every mall had water fountains in the 90s. That was part of the whole thing! Now they're all gone. My only regret is that I didn't have a quarter on me to throw in.

The river oaks mall is too dry as of late. Macy's, Victoria secret, bath and body works don't have enough product, or customer service attrndant to provide a good shopping experience.

Very clean mall, good for exercise. It's my favorite mall. Since the plaza was torn down. Hop it stays and open more restaurant in food court.

I went to JCPENNEY to pick-up an order. I wanted to use Curbside pick-up. They claimed they had one. Yet no one ever answered the app when I got there and parked in the spot for pick-up. I had to go inside and wait in Iine to get my order. When I got to the counter the clerk just laughed and said I guess it's not working again. When I was leaving the store I noticed a few other people complaining about the Curbside pick-up service at that store.

I'm old enough to remember when it opened. It was wonderful and the "rocking chair" theater on the other side of Torrence was the best. Like Calumet City itself, the mall is in a death spiral. Pretty depressing. How long before it goes the way of Lincoln Mall?

As someone who has been to River Oaks Mall a number of times, I've never seen it so dead. Many of its stores are closing down, and it seems that the only stores keeping the place open are JCPenny and Macy's, and even then I still don't know how those stores remain open. Decent place to do some shopping for clothes but if you're looking to make a day of fun out of this place, I'd look elsewhere. I hear they want to knock this place down and build a waterpark in its place.

Was fun years ago. We would go to Tavern in the Oaks after "Christmas shopping". Now just a shell of past glory

Went today for an in-store pickup because it saved an additional 20%. Bad idea because of my temporary disability and had to use my wheelchair in order to access the store. Entered through JCPENNY which was nearly empty. My daughter pushed me past empty store after empty store. I remember when there used to be a line to enter the restrooms. Cinnabon is gone, so we had Auntie Anne’s. Sorta’ felt like Evergreen Plaza before it closed. I don’t think brick and mortar will ever be the same when you can get packages delivered to your home or office. Most of my favorite online stores already have my data stored and the ease of just click-click pay has me hooked. Too bad my daughter is so young and I’m so old that going to the Mall was THE thing to do! Sweet nostalgic memories. The owners need to do a survey and update the stores or even include other types of business ventures. I mean, it’s a great location with ample parking (a big win) and lots of potential. Giving it 3 stars because the workers at The Children’s Place, Auntie Anne’s and JcPenny were awesome. Thanks also to the kind young man who held the door open for us leaving out and the beautiful lady who helped me put my wheelchair in the trunk.

Pleasant experience, not to crowded. JC Penney and Macy's are running at full strength. There are several small shops functioning as well. Food court is operating and the mall temperature is cool. Security guards were present but not imposing. Simple mall not really elaborate but great deals if you look around. Diverse customer base as well.

Haven't been in this mall since I was kid, but it feels like HOME! Bring your children, your wits, your phone (to TEXT HOME TO 741741 for immediate crisis counseling). Don't be afraid to BARK (call/text) 988 if you encounter a mental health crisis! (Advice Courtesy of a Former National Alliance on Mental Illness South Suburban Chicagoland Chapter Alumnus and Pet Lover).

This mall has seen better days, it's ok if you know what you're doing. Went in close to closing time and almost got locked in. Within minutes mall was totally empty it seems. Kept running into locked doors. Walked almost around the entire perimeter to get out and back to my car.

It's a really cool mall with a variety of different stores. But there was literally no one there, it was quite for a mall and the food court was non existent.

It was my first time there today. It looks like the entryway needs some power washing. Many boarded up stores. I was excited and scared at the same time. I want to go back and walk further into the mall. Hopefully, not by myself.

They really need to spruce it up and do a real good deap cleaning around the property. Its horrible. Gum all over the side walk garbage everywhere. Its in a really good spot. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS PLACE, and push to get more businesses. So many malls are dying, dont let this one get away!!!!

Can you say ghost town? No food court, kay jewelry is gone and all the perfume booths are over priced. They need to lower them prices before they turn this mall into a casino. And I don't need a 3 inch pendant of Jesus like you see in most of the jewelry booths. This looks like evergreen plaza before it closed it doors for good.

It looks like a ghost town in River Oaks!!!!! I've lived in the area for over 30 years & it definitely doesn't supply the shopping experience from past visits. It's pretty sad that the City hasn't tried to revive the area in and around the mall. The parking lot is horrible with tons of pot holes.

Shopping center is extremely large. After I finally got into the mall and asked a security guard how far was the store I was looking for. The security guard told me it was quite a walk, and she asked me if I needed a wheelchair. When I said yes, she escorted me to an area where I could sit while she escorted my daughter to the security area where she could get a wheelchair. The wheelchair was extremely small (I am a nice size woman) however, I was able to squeeze into it, but it was uncomfortable. I don't know if they have larger wheelchairs. If not they should think about ordering some.

My husband and I went to Macy's River Oaks mall because they had a great sale on coats and boots. We found what I was looking for. The female sales person in the shoe department was very helpful and nice. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. I paid for my items and we left the store safely.

There’s like 1 eating place open in the food court. There’s no variety, almost all the stores are for clothes.

Love this mall, too bad what's happened to it...Hopefully they can reboot somehow. I shop there and give um all the support I can. Shoe stores are great and the folks are very friendly.

The mall is not what it used to be. It almost looks ghost inside. I only go to Macy's & look in a couple other places. The city needs to bring businesses back or it's going to eventually shut down.

Really bizarre that a majority of the stores are gaudy jewelry stores? I mean what’s up with that? All that shines isn’t gold fools.

Great mall, I've been going here ever since I was a kid. With that being said there needs to be upgrades and changes maybe expand the store or create a second floor. This mall has stayed the same

J.C Penny's Is At The Top Of It's Game. I Loved The Addition Of The Young Men Running The Register Adjacent To The Men/Ladies Section; They Worked Expeditiously And Professionally Which I Appreciated. From Times Past, Ladies Appeared To Have Many Mood Swings And Attitude, Which Hurts The Flow Of Business.

I drove my great grandson to shop at River Oaks. The parking was ridiculous. My great grandson did not find what he was looking for. I shop at Mr. Kay's and JCPenny mostly when I go into the mall.

I gave River Oaks 4 stars because it wasn’t crowed on a Saturday afternoon. Kinda sad for the vendors but on a brighter note there’s a place called Ruby’s Soul food there that has some of the best souls food that I’ve tasted in a long long time. I think that I would go there just for her food!

The store selections have fallen off over the years. I like Macy's and the kid's clothing store because they have school uniforms, but it's very basic, and cheap after that.

I did curbside at jcp. Parking lot is a little weird and ppl park however they want. Curbside spot was taken by a customer who was shopping inside. The lady who brought my curbside order was friendly and professional

My main reason for going is the Refresher Center . They have excellent massages, foot, back and total body. I always choose the man to do it. I need yang energy (male) to balance out my (yin) female energy. He is pleasant and very thorough. He knows all the acupressure points and doing total body he uses hot stones and oil, so be prepared for your stress to be relieved and leave with a relaxed experience. Oh and you will have to disrobe because oil will be massaged from your neck to toes. But you will certainly leave with Zen, and melted and refreshed. I need to go every two weeks. Oh total body cost $65, very reasonable. With a generous tip I paid $80, and worth every penny. 5***** Stars!
