Terrible food. Terrible service. Spent nearly $200 on frozen pizzas to be delivered. ew. Directions were WAY off, cheese is slimey and gloopy. Tried contacting them and they stopped responding to me after 4 emails. Wow. Seriously disgusting. Obviously their food has gone way down hill. Waste of time and money. Nice response, Joe. Class act. Do better.

Another 100% Vegan Chicago Restaurant! I would rate the food 3.5/5. Here’s my explanation and personal experience. I ordered the fully loaded deep dish. Reason for this? About 4-5 years ago, (before I turned vegan) I would visit Giordanos or Lou Malnati's Pizza for a deep dish. Now that I am 100% vegan since 4 years, those two restaurants are no longer an option for me. Thus, I searched for deep dish vegan pizza and found this here restaurant. The deep dish pizza tastes good! It is however not my number one favorite. It’s a good but not amazing out of the ordinary experience. (My opinion) Ranch dressing for dip: I did ask for extra ranch, the ranch however was was unfortunately 1/5. taste did not match original taste whatsoever and the dip itself was just fluid, way too much liquid. I also tried the caramel apple pie; 3/5 not my taste; very sticky and sweet. It was ok. Rating the service: the service was great, the staff was super friendly. Awesome exchange with convinced vegan staff. (partly) Atmosphere: I chose to take the food „to go“. For me, personally, the restaurant was not my style. Music was a little too loud and restaurant did not give me a comfortable quiet dining vibe, more of a bar vibe. Check out pictures and videos for better impression which reminds me; it would have been more helpful for me, if the menu would have had pictures for better visual evaluation of choices. Lastly! I Love that the vegan community is growing & I am grateful for just another vegan restaurant that wants to give us a good fast food experience. Take care & Bon Appetit! Ps! Just by the way; the reason for the spooky decoration was the Halloween season; I suppose.

I placed an order for pickup at Kitchen 17 and had a phenomenal experience with the customer service in person and over the phone. My order was ready when it was meant to be and was quick and easy to obtain. My ordered consisted of a deep dish pizza, cheese fries, and a pumpkin spice cake. Keeping in mind, I did order for takeout, I expected the quality to be a little less than what you may see dining in. However, the pizza I received was essentially inedible. It wasn’t cut all the way through and was total soup, so much so that the cheese & sauce would slide across the pizza if tilted for even a moment. The slice I managed to pry out of the pizza was goopy and tasted exactly like the pictured pizza looks, like soup on top of bread. This was my first vegan pizza experience in Chicago and I was so disappointed. Looking at other photos of their deep dish I’d like to believe I got an off pie, but for the price it’s hard to take another chance on it. The saving graces in this meal were the cheese fries and cake. I loved that the cheese was packaged separately from the fries, the fries were perfectly crispy and my only wish would be for a little more cheese. The cake was by far the best I’ve ever had, bar none. If I was rich I’d employ whoever makes that cake as my personal baker and I’d have a pastry with every meal. Two stars for great service and some great sides

First time customer went on a Saturday around 3pm. Parking is horrible we parked next to the building where we had to text a code to this number to pay for 2-3 hours parking was around $7. Once in the restaurant we didn't see their score which my husband pointed out we already paid for parking and was frustrated so decided to stay and eat. We order the cauliflower wings, Philly Cheese Steak and the traditional dip dish pizza with sprite and two hot teas ticket was around $60 something dollars. The cups for the tea was dirty we asked for disposable cups and they to was dirty so they washed the glass cups in the dishwasher. As you can see in the pictures the place is not clean stuff is everywhere. Once the food came out everything looked very good the cauliflower wings were a hit, but the Philly Steak and Pizza was horrible pizza was floppy and the guy that rung up the meal said he has been trying to get the owner to correct the consistency of the pizza but they have not and that there needs to be a complaint was here it is. We were refunded for the pizza but left still hungry because we only ate the cauliflower wings. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Great service on the bar side, I believe the servers name is Kyle. Vegan deep dish was good, it was a must try since I’ve never had deep dish pizza. It’s super filling, we were full after one slice, although the pizza was even better the next day eaten cold. Mac and Cheese is 10/10. I regret not trying the cauliflower wings. Also ordered the « Turtles » cheese cake and Salted Caramel brownie, those were the most decadent dessert I’ve had in a very long time. Highly recommended.

Kitchen 17 is a 100% vegan restaurant with a lot of options from pizza to burgers to gyros. The food is good although on the high end as far as cost and the atmosphere is almost always chill and certainly welcoming of all. Pizza - I really do like the deep dish version however I always get it to go and feast the next day on it. For me personally it taste sooo much better when it has a chance to settle and is reheated and consumed. Chili - I was pleasantly surprised at how good it is although kinda paused at it not being served with crackers or bread unless you pay extra for it. Chicken Parm - This was gone in about two minutes. I enjoyed everything from the sauce and focaccia bread to the cheese and their very own house made chicken patty. Mud Pie - I seriously can’t come here without getting a slice of this, it’s that good!

Great vegan restaurant and bar in Chicago specializing in plant based deep dish pizza. Casual environment serving lots of tasty vegan foods. We ordered the cauliflower wings and plant eater deep dish pizza. All was super tasty, and the deep dish was fantastic and exceeded our expectations. Dessert was also great. Good selection of high quality beers. Service was slow but very personable.

*Pizza Only Review* Ordered the deep dish - server recommended the Fully Loaded. I was super excited to try it, as I’m always looking for tasty plant based options. The pizza was unfortunately very watery - it was over sauced with a tomato that was very acidic and sour which overpowered the entire pie. Everything was runny, and the interior of the dough wasn’t cooked fully. The dough had good flavor and the edges that were cooked were tasty. I couldn’t taste the flavors of the other toppings (couldn’t taste what was in it) because of the sauce, so it tasted like a soupy marinara pizza. I was pretty disappointed, especially for the price, but it may have potential if executed better…

If you are vegan and want the deep dish experience this is the place! The overall experience was amazing. The interior decor was cozy and there is a wall with all sorts of old board games which takes you back to the good old days. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip. This is a staple when you go, it was the perfect balance between creamy and bursting with flavor! My only complaint is that I couldn’t get enough. For the main course we got the plant water deep dish. From the first bite to the last everything about it was amazing. You can tell they clearly make everything from scratch in house. The dough was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside with a little bit of doughy-ness on the inside. The veggies were cooked wonderfully. What really made the dish was the marinara sauce. Fresh and seasoned to absolute perfection, I wish they sold jars of it!

I’m an omnivore through and through and love my meats, however, my partner is not. Because of everything that goes into deep dish and not really buying into the experience, I resigned myself to one go and it was a vegan go. I was more than surprised and enjoyed this pie immensely. Good sauce, nice flavor profile, balanced with a lovey dough. It was a genuinely delicious pizza regardless of your dietary choices. Pretty solid service if you can call it that, they cook it, but you do everything else. I will have to get used to the counter service, bus your own table thing here but I’m not looking forward to it. Give this place a chance regardless of your “-vore.”

Was so excited to try them as I have a dairy allergy and they're 100% vegan, but was incredibly disappointed. I ordered the traditional with green peppers added. Pizza arrived quickly hot and fresh, but once I took a bite it tasted funny and left a weird taste. Flipped the pizza over and it was beyond burnt on the bottom. For the price I would expect to not get blackened pizza which is quite a bummer. Willing to try again but very disappointed from my first experience.

Kitchen 17 is a solid vegan spot known for their vegan Chicago style deep dish. They have a lot of options for pizzas and burgers, plus a few appetizers. They also have specialty drinks ranging from typical to oddball. The ambience is kind of like a cozy Halloween feel, with lots of dark colors and orange and purple lights. Also lots of odd decorations, like dolls and tchotchkes, but a final atmosphere. They have board games too, and a couple pinball machines. Highly recommended for plant based and meat eaters alike.

I really wanted to go to this place just for the vegan deep dish lure. But I was truly disappointed. Mostly because the food didn't live up to my expectations and I think the way this spot is presented online doesn't match its actual feel. The front end service was good, no complaints there. Our silverware was dirty. We got our food from a person who obviously had headphones on and grunted when I wasn't sure that the dish being placed on our table was actually a dish we ordered. The food did come out in time. Kitchen 17 is really a bar with a few tables for eating in. Online it seemed more like a restaurant with a bar available. Which leads me to the food. I now feel like the people who have given this place good reviews are really using the bar as their primary focus. I had to ask for salt and pepper and generously add each to my food for the food to be edible. It's not terrible, just bland and flavourless. The ambiance is dark and because the silverware was dirty I wasn't confident about the quality of the food. The dark ambiance didn't allow me to inspect the dishes the way I would have liked to. So instead I said a prayer before eating. We drove to Chicago to experience the city's vegan food and after eating at Kitchen 17 I was mad at myself for choosing it over other choices. Vegan options are becoming more popular each day. So to see lackluster offerings parading as delicious and niche, really is disappointing. Try Kitchen 17 if you want to, but I for one won't be returning. There are too many other options available in Chicago.

Tried the deep dish vegan pizza here. Place was fairly empty on a Saturday afternoon. Got a table quickly and they have board games available to play as well. Pizza was decent with the crust being the best part. I definitely prefer regular pizza over the vegan ones but look forward to trying other things. I specifically asked the waiter if we could substitute something on the pizza and he said yes but charged for it anyway so wasn't happy about that.

The vegan deep dish was phenomenal. The house made cheese was so cheesy and did not taste like the normal fake vegan cheeses that taste super processed. The loaded fries were sooo good and the burgers were okay. They do have gluten free options as well. Side note: the server told us that the deep dish could not be made gluten free and I found out a couple days later that it actually could have ben made gluten free. Paid for two different Uber’s to get there (Uber did not update the new address) just so I could eat a deep dish that was gluten free AND vegan but left kinda disappointed.

This place is amazing!! Definitely one of the best vegan restaurants I've ever been. It has a dive bar type feel. I can't quite place my finger on the theme.. it's like under the sea/Christmas ornaments/Marti gras/eyeballs/Halloween/game night fun?.... Idk, but the pizza was amazing! The burgers are incredible! The freaking desserts are the BEST vegan desserts I've ever had. The staff is super friendly. However, the spinach dip and Mac and cheese are a 2/5 they both had basically no flavor and they're over $9... but the pita bread was great. Still giving it a 5 star because the desserts just made my night. If you like chocolate, you have to get the turtle cheesecake 😍🤌🤌🤌There's board games to play which was super cool, and an Atari game on one screen. They also have live music sometimes! Definitely check it out!! Oh! AND THEY HAVE A FULL BAR!!

The BEST cauliflower wings, are righteous found in Chicago, at Kitchen 17. I need to give the deep dish another go around, but it was definitely good enough for me to tell you to go try it. The artichoke dip is a skip for me. Happy Munchies, @aVeganAndHer

Very impressed by how good the plant eaters deep dish pizza was! Truly enjoyed the cozy atmosphere as well. The Parent Trap peanut butter chocolate cake was phenomenal and left me speechless....I ate the whole thing! They give you such a big slice I was trying to save some for later...didn't happen that way. Will definitely come again!!

Vegan junk food heaven served here. Their pizza is amazing, their apps and sandwiches are amazing and their desserts are amazing. Their NY style pizza is good, but go for the deep dish to get that Chicago style flavor. They even cater, have a bakery and their service is excellent during the pandemic where it’s pick up only for now.

Very small but cozy restaurant. You can grab a menu and seat yourself. We ordered the chicken sandwich, Philly cheesesteak, the traditional deep dish with spinach added, and a slice of Oreo cake for dessert. Chicken sandwich - delicious and the flavors complimented each other very well. The chicken seitan appeared to be made in-house because the shape is irregular. The seitan was very crispy, thick, and seasoned well. Philly cheesesteak - it was nonsensically good. After finishing it, my husband literally looked up and wondered why the restaurant was not full. The bread was toasted but not crumbly, which made it pleasant to eat without pieces falling apart. Eating it from end to end was a delicious balance of flavor, even the parts without the ranch and mozzarella mixture. It perfectly leads you in and out of the center of the sandwich. It was so good that we ordered another to go. Traditional deep dish with spinach - it is only a slight step down from the Giordano’s deep dish. The cheese needed to be a bit thicker so that the other ingredients don’t overpower it so much when it should be the highlight of the pizza. As leftovers, it held up great. Oreo cake - it was good, but it was extremely sweet, more so than non vegan cake that we have tried. Sides - the fries were not regular bar fries. They are crispy, high quality fries that taste delicious. Also, the buffalo sauce seemed made in house and tasted better than others we have tried. We are excited to return for more Philly cheesesteak and to try more options.

Now this spot was an original selection of mine for Brunch with a friend but he wanted to go elsewhere. The vegan desserts here all looked so damn GOOD!! If I could (I think maybe like 6 intense gym hours...non-stop) I would have a slice of every pie they had on display. The coolest part was they are all VEGAN! I got slice of the dumpster one (or garbage pie??) And it was quite put together for it's name. I was expecting a heaping mess but nonetheless the flavors were on point and a delicious combo of junk pieces. The woman who was helping us was very helpful even though it was her 4th day. She was very pleasant and nice. There are plenty of board, card, and a few other more interactive games; they have some classics too like chess. The mac-and-cheese was good. I wish we would've came here for Brunch to begin with. Can't wait to come back and try some of their food.

Cool pizza and bar spot with a retro board game theme. Really enjoyed the vegan deep dish pizza, the "cheese" made in-house is among the best alternatives I've had on a pizza and tasted fresh vs the packaged stuff. It really carried the flavor of the sauce. Was so good I ate the rest of the pie for breakfast cold. Bartender was very friendly and helpful. As a bonus they are open late!

I order from here all the time, and miss being able to go in person to play games and drink water out of their pizza parlor cups surrounded by plants. I still squint at some of their more outlandish dish combos, though, since I'm a more straight-laced kind of vegan (hamburger pizza???). I tried the breakfast nachos once on a lark and they were soggy and had a strange flavor profile. Fried chicken here is also really dense and chewy, which I don't care for. I also once ordered a slice of cake for delivery and it was rock hard, so I can't recommend the pastry counter during covid, but normally their cakes are really good! I give 4 stars because despite my grumblings above, their pizza is AMAZING. Best vegan pizza in Chicago, hands down. The salads are also really good, I love their house ranch, it's very dill-y. All told, the deep dish is 10000% worth the hype, and the price tag. You won't be disappointed!!

I have heard about Kitchen 17 for years being a vegan living in Chicago but simply had never gotten out to it. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, with games around to play. It's a fast casual style place where you order at the cash register and the food is brought out to you. We ordered a classic BBQ burger and the special which was a beyond sausage Curry wurst. We played Yatzee while we waited for our order. First of all: the fries. The fries are AMAZING. Some of the best I have had. They have a beautiful crispy crusty outside that I couldn't get enough of. The Curry wurst was spicy and yummy but I felt could have been a bit more of the topping on it. The burger was satisfactory, they use a home made patty which can be swapped out for a beyond patty for $3. I got the home made one and was happy with it. If you go, come knowing they have tons of cakes by the register. My only regret is not getting a slice!

The french fries and sweet potato fries are both delicious. Their seitan is very good, I had it in the vegan Philly cheese steak. Their cheese sauce and grilled onions tend to make it a sweeter dish than the more savory traditional cheese steak, so I recommend the sandwich with very little onion and light on the cheese sauce, personally. Their spinach & artichoke dip is good, though it's heavier on the spinach and has a little artichoke. I recommend it with tortilla chips instead of pita. My sister liked her bbq burger, she said the veggie patty was delicious. I plan on ordering from here again, it was very flavorful and delicious!

The atmosphere was really nice, they had games for you to play while you waited for your food which is always a plus. The downside to this place is that the food is a bit bland. I would describe it as classic bar food with a vegan twist. Overall, this place is good if you're planning on drinking but not worth choosing as a dinner destination.

We came from Phoenix where there are a lot more vegan restaurants but half the time the food disappointing and almost all of the time the staff are pretty aggressively not excited that you're there. So, I was nervous to spend an hour taking the train to a new vegan spot. Especially since my son and I are both gluten-free. We were far from disappointed!! The guy who greeted us was so friendly I literally almost cried. He called us friends! We had spinach artichoke dip with tortilla chips and the fully loaded deep dish pizza on gluten free crust both delicious and amazing. Oh, and a triple chocolate brownie. Also amazing. The atmosphere of the place was so cool and casual but funky and fun. I really wish we had a place like this in AZ.

Quite underwhelming to be honest, first time I ordered the cauliflower wings which were heavily underseasoned, which was the same with the house-made ranch. Gave it another chance with the fried "Chicken" sandwich, which also had no taste since the sauce was the ranch before. Only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the fries are good, but even the sauce I got with the fries only lasted me for 1/3 of the amount they gave.

As someone who has developed a dairy allergy, I haven't been able to enjoy pizza for a long time. The deep dish pizza here is heaven for a vegan pizza. Their cheese sauce is so creamy and doesn't have an aftertaste like sometimes nondairy cheeses do. Would definitely recommend this place!

Kitchen 17 is the oasis of vegan food. Though we are not vegan, we are dairy allergic and are always desperately looking for proper substitutes to classic “Friday nights” American dishes such as pizza or cheesy fries. Especially in the city of Chicago, where deep dish reigns supreme, Kitchen 17 provides an opportunity for those allergy stricken or vegan folks to try a slice of the city’s edible achievement. Our recent order was the loaded deep dish and chili cheese fries, so I will review them. The deep dish was filled with delicious veg, fake meat, and dairy free cheese that was held together by a solid crust. We were late in picking up, so we had a colder slice, which as most fake cheese connoisseurs would know tastes worse, so be sure to heat up any leftovers. I don’t think they use daiya- which is one of the more fake tasting dairy producers - and as a result, the pizza was delicious. The chili cheese fries were superb when mixed! Again, the fake cheese, when cooled or eaten alone, tasted pretty mediocre. But it’s the symphony you want to consume. And together, each element really brought out the tender flavor of this American classic. Even if you don’t want the toppings, the fries were surprisingly good! We will be returning many times to try each item.

The actual place looks fun, but the food alone isn't doing it for me. Ordered 2 bbq cheddar burgers, Mac and cheese , buffalo cauliflower, and raspberry chocolate cake. Not tasting cheese. food is packed with flavor. Put some Rufus Teague on that. Everything else was good. Can't go wrong with cake! For $65 door dash I was hoping for more. Probably won't go back to be honest. Too many places to try!

woof... Pizza was bread with tomato sauce (cheese wasn't noticable). Not even our pizza loving kids wanted a 2nd slice. The 4 year old took one bite of the Mac n'cheese and no more - bad. The regular fries weren't finished (again, kids?). The sweet potato fries were fine. Service was really bad. Our deep dish pizza came out first (?) with a disclaimer that everything else would be another 5 minutes. Which it was. We had to ask for plates. and silverware. and our fries. and the check... They also don't have any non-sugar drinks which makes it really hard for diabetics. Hard pass next time we're on Broadway.

I have been wanting to try kitchen 17 for years. I was in the area for work and wanted to give them a try. The girls were nice and explained the topping process to me. I was getting a personal pizza and wasn’t sure how everything worked. For 15 dollars I was a bit disappointed. It was on the doughy side.

Always great having a vegan spot of their quality nearby. Best pizza in Chicago! Fries, wings, cake aren't half bad either

This place is phenomenal. The staff is amazing. I haven’t been there in a few years but just noticed I never wrote a review. I used to live right by this place and go all the time, when I moved across the country, they made me my favorite cupcakes (Pb&j) for the road. Amazing place.

I ordered delivery. The pizza was a little runny, but otherwise really good. The cauliflower wings came without sauce (not tossed nor was it on the side) so it was just soggy breaded cauliflower??? To be honest its overpriced and I probably won't get it again since there are better vegan options available.

American fare with a vegan twist. Self service is the norm here. A bit too quiet and lonely for the neighborhood (either a minus or plus)

Easily the best vegan place in Chicago. They have plenty to satisfy the pickiest eaters. The deep dish pizza is what they are known for but try the Mac and cheese and the chocolate cake. So good and vegan and you won't regret it.

🍕 Great (and really loaded!) vegan Chicago deep dish pizza 🍕 Oat milk soft serve ice cream and buffalo cauliflower wings are delicious too! Indoor seating has some board games to play while waiting for food 🎲 Currently self-serve and not as clean, but the food is worth it!

This place was great! The food was amazing! We had the spinach and artichoke dip with the pita bread. Also the deep dish pizza which did not disappoint. Visiting from out town is tough because of the limited vegan options. However I’m glad to have found this vegan restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Personally am not a full time vegan, but tried the deep dish pizza, mac n cheese, raspberry chocolate cake, all was filling and tasted so good that I forgot it was vegan! Friendly place, cool vibes, if I was a local or visiting again I would definitely would be back

I have had several vegan pizzas and this one is by far the absolute best! I called and placed my order and the lady was so nice and accommodating to let me know the options they currently had at the moment as far as drinks and desserts. I will definitely be coming back as long as they are open. This “in house” mozzarella is something you really won’t find somewhere else. The Oreo cake, amazing. It’s definitely comfort food that I can’t enjoy all the time but when I want to treat myself I know where to go!

I ordered a deep dish cheese and cauliflower wings for delivery 10/23/20 for pickup. Sauce on the pizza was half off and on one side by the time I got home (with very careful handling by my husband who was the passenger) which I guess is from the soupy topping I’ve been reading about. The cauliflower wings were ok and I have definitely had better. A birthday celebration with my children and hubby was made sour by this experience especially since my children were so excited for this pizza. If you have ever had House of Za pizza don’t expect the same quality or taste here. It’s unfortunate but I’m glad some of you have had great experiences. I must find a new pizza spot because I can’t see life without pizza :)

Don’t get the nachos maybe? For some reason I got a container of chili, slightly hardened cheese, ranch, a box of lettuce mixed with tortilla chips (random right?) and the worlds absolute smallest container of pico de gallo??? Less about the fact they listed all these in the description and I ordered it but more on the “what is this combo of food” and “why so little pico de gallo/ salsa??” And “why this Spring Green lettuce on tortilla chips???” Otherwise alright!

Cool gem of a place. Great bartender able to recommend delicious local beers to suit your taste. 12" deep dish loaded pizza too much for one person but looking forward to leftovers! Only visiting the city for a few days and wish I had stopped by sooner!
