This place is definitely a hidden gem! Located in Hyde Park, there's not a parking lot, but I got a park right in front! The owner was there and she and her entire staff were super sweet, and polite! I visited with my daughter and a friend. I enjoyed a great conversation with the owner! .... But seriously the best part was the food!!! I enjoyed a delicious potato bowl called Rico Rico, a slice of raw pineapple vegan cheesecake,(which by the way the smooth and creamy texture makes you forget its raw vegan),and a super green fresh pressed juice! The food was PHENOMENAL!!! I always have to take a drive to another neighborhood to get delicious vegan cuisine, now I have one in my own neck of the woods!!!

I really wanted to like this place, but the staff was rude/cold, the portion sizes were extremely small for the price. But the main reason I'm leaving a negative review is that they refused to fill up my water bottle even though I ordered $40 worth of food and tipped! I either had to either pay for water or pay for a cup of water. That just rubbed me the wrong way. There are plenty of other black woman owned vegan restaurants in the city with much better service and kinder people (Kale My Name) and I am looking forward to going back there.

I came all the way from Atlanta to visit this restaurant and was SO disappointed. As a black woman, I was very excited to find a black owned vegan spot in Chicago not to mention the restaurant is also owned by a woman. I ordered 3 of the the BBQ plates with Mac, greens, chicken and beans with extra Mac because we don’t eat potato salad. I was told I would get extra Mac, but that didn’t happen at all. The portions are extremely small which is crazy considering the price was $16.19. I’m all for paying a higher price for vegan food but I at least expect to get a nice size amount of food. I went back to tell the owner what I ordered and she refused to give any extra food even though that’s what I ordered. She was extremely rude instead of trying to make a customer happy. I HIGHLY don’t recommend coming here. There are several other vegan spots in town that you will be MUCH more satisfied with.

I am posting my absolute honest review and still hope for the prosperity of this business and owner/ staff. I've patronized on 4 (maybe more) separate occasions. I've wanted to patronize more but the Owner's attitude has been very cold and comes off as slightly rude. I recognize that some days are JUST BAD! I don't expect for her to run around with a chipper attitude...Some days we all just don't feel like smiling of giving a kind greeting! lol I get it! I've thought well maybe she just had a rude customer right before me.... but after so many times visiting and this is still the case...... somethings got to give??! Now, the food here is absolutely amazing. Hence why I keep coming back! (lol) The portion sizes don't generally bother me but I can see how some would deem them as small. Again... THE FOOD IS BOMB!!! I was/am so excited for this business and I truly hope they do thrive. I do hope that the customer service can get better... its a big deal.

The owner was knowledgable and helpful during my visit. The best way to order is in-person since the cafe updates the menu regularly. People scan the QR Code to see food and drink options. This is a organized and clean local place that supports veganism, makes whole plant based and gluten free food and drinks from scratch. For individuals with nut allergies, be aware limited food and drink options are available. If people want to avoid the crowds, I highly recommend to dine in at the cafe's opening time.

Black-owned Vegan spot! The staff was super friendly! I got the Philly cheesesteak and fries with meatless meat, it was okay for me. I wanted to give it a try. If you are vegan I would recommend this place.

The food here is absolutely amazing. Delicious vegan concoctions. They're oyster mushroom fried chicken Nashville sandwich is to die for. Cheese fries? So simple, but why are they so damn good? Nice healthy juice options, and some really tasty desserts as well. However, while I was going once or twice a week, I will be a less frequent patron now that the owner has declared she is anti-vax, and that's the only reason this is 4 stars. Ironic their emphasis on healthy food given their complete disregard for public health during a pandemic.

This place is great! The menu has a bunch of great options! The jerk impossible burger is fantastic, the philly is very good too! I didn't sample the desserts, but they all looked good. It is definitely worth stopping in to check it out!

GREAT PLACE! Everything is made from scratch and easily veganizable (if it isn't already). The menu is pretry solid with burgers, nachos, juices and desserts. The back even has herbs you can buy in bulk. I found this place through a vegan group and it's so good to have more options like this near uchicago. While it is a bit of a commute for me, I'm sure it is a hit with students and locals nearby. We got a smoothie- the berry one & raw chocolate cheesecake. I have only had vegan cheesecake once before (from Alice & Friends) and this one was SO good. I could have easily ate two slices but I didn't want to spoil my dinner. As for the restaurant itself, you have to walk to the back to order (but you get to pass the kitchen and see exactly how made from scratch everything is! It's serioudly sooo fresh) and there's paintings all over the exposed brick walls. 5/5 would return again.

Best vegan nachos I’ve ever had. Service was fiercely beautiful. It is to go ONLY -no indoor Dining- and there is a park nearby you can eat in.

I had the hummingbird cake, fish sandwich with fries and this was the best vegan food I have had in the city a hidden gem you must try. My partner had the philly cheese steak said it was really good a little too cheesy for him he’s not vegan nor a big fan of vegan cheese though so still highly recommend. They also have a well curated selection of other health items for the holistic everyday person including a section where you can refill spices, herbs and powders which I plan to do you can bring your own jar but they have theirs or they can give it to you in in one of those bags and then you can refill your jar. There’s also beautiful art on display and for purchase.

Had an impromptu lunch date with my son here. The food was delicious and the owner was sweet and took the time to talk to us about the restaurant and its history in the community. I would highly recommend visiting and seeing what’s available.

Generous options of vegan food. On the pricey side but they are huge portions! You could easily split most entrees. Made to order so allot time for the preparation of everything.

Golden southside comfort plant powered variety food!! A goat when it comes to this so called vegetarian and vegan movement. No games. You want in-house prepared plant based food, “fake meats”, raw living foods, juices, smoothies, etc she’s got it and ever changing menu to keep you on your toes and drooling. Respect!

Fabulous vegan kitchen. My favorite is the Twisted Colada smoothie but there are all kinds of interesting items. It's one of my go to weekend treats and I can highly recommend. This is a great place to try especially if you're looking to support a black-owned, woman-owned, local business.

Very good, excellent service and friendly staff. I tried the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and as a meat eater I truly enjoyed it! I’ll definitely be going back to try more menu items.

I love the variety of vegan foods here . My only suggestion is better portion sizes on dishes such as the jackfruit nuggets . I took a picture of my food but I don’t see an option to upload it from my phone. For 8 dollars plus tax I counted 5 slightly over small sized nuggets- very tasty. My smoothie also 15 for a large so everything with tax 25 dollars. This meal could have very much been 15 dollars or 20 even. I love smoothies I usually get a large because it’s a better deal if you enjoy a full smoothie but 15 is a stretch, I make smoothies at home . I treated myself today and supported a business I believe in. I do understand plant based food is prepared with care and quality especially here . All vegan food doesn’t mean expensive though. The market value for jackfruit is reasonable especially how large the fruit is. I had a large smoothie, & I love the smoothies here . I bought some fresh jackfruit from Whole Foods last week and it was sliced . I have two containers with enough for 3-4 meals depending on how I make it and that was less than 8 dollars I spent. The nuggets here should come with more in the container for sure at least 10 I say for paying 8 plus tax. I would more likely just buy a whole jack fruit myself and learn the recipe because it’s a wonderful fruit to cook with and I’d save more on the meals. I feel it will be worth it more for the price it is , this is my 3rd time trying them it’s been a while since the winter . The size of the nuggets and quantity has always been small. Knowing I enjoy the nuggets I would want a few more to feel more satisfied. I supported a black owned business today . The staff is always working to get every order done the owner also is energetic and warm spirited . I love the service in our community. The large smoothies I feel should be 12 dollars . I go here when I have the means to treat myself to this caliber of food and to support. I understand economic changes especially during this time — I would definitely make some changes or have some sales occasionally. The restaurant has inspired me to open a juice and smoothie bar in the near future. God bless and positive vibes .

I can highly recommend B'Gabs! I had the fried chicken and it was made using a unique type of juicy mushroom, coated in a homemade artisanal batter. The service is also top notch. A very welcoming and friendly experience. I will return one of the next times I am in Hyde Park.

This place is KILLING it. The jerk burgers are amazing, the cheese fries are amazing, and my bf loves the breakfast sandwich and jackfruit nuggets. PLUS-and this is a big one for me- they don't use plastic in their packaging (as long as you don't get utensils)

I like the menu options for the animal free choices however you all should consider gluten free bread for sandwich options. Gluten is not good for anyone.
