👍👍 I came in for lunch and it was packed, and there seemed to be just one very harried staff member working everything. I didn’t care for the quiche but the vegan lox was magnificent. Coffee as also good. Eventually they had another staff come in and everyone was super friendly. People often mention vegan, good, breakfast, croissant, great, time, sandwich, latte, love, bagel,

Charming little spot. We had a cinnamon roll, avocado toast and breakfast burrito. I really enjoyed the cinnamon roll. My wife liked it too and had quite a bit mine so I was glad I ordered the toast with it. She had the breakfast burrito. My son had a chocolate chip croissant and his own avocado toast. Everything was great! The lady working was really nice. She had mentioned that they were burglarized overnight. That explained the busted glass on the front door, which I thought was a decorative glass before knowing that. That just bums me out though. Such a cool and loveable place. It made me really sad... especially when I saw the sticker on the door, "just be nice". We're not from Chicago but if we're ever at a Cubs game or in the neighborhood we'd love to stop by again. I wouldn't mind stopping by the Fancy Pants Kitchen too. Thank you for the great vegan food!

Probably the blandest breakfast I’ve had in Chicago. The quiche had the texture of pasty pudding, the breakfast croissant had no flavour and the service was pretty cold and unwelcoming. The only side they had was lay’s potato chips and no side salad despite having been open for thirty minutes. Would not go back.

My first time trying a vegan croissant. I really liked how loaded it was with the chocolate filling and that I wouldn’t ever be able to guess the difference between this and normal chocolate. Great stuff. Although the pastry did get very chewy, dry and tough after it cooled down a bit.

We had the Cured Smoked Carrot Lox Bagel (tasted quite like lox), Avocado Toast, and Heirloom Tomato BLT (tempeh bacon). I also had an iced Aztec mocha which was delightful. I love heirloom tomatoes ; it was a great sandwich. The bread was dense with nuts and seeds but filling as a result. There’s a very cute patio tucked off Broadway on Briar. Be sure to check it out if you’re in the neighbourhood, are vegan, or just want to try something different.

this cafe is paradise. perfect atmosphere with a chill and earthy vibe, baristas with great music taste, and amazing food. the classic croissant sandwich is my go to, but i love their lox bagel, spanakopita, blt, pastries, baked goods, everything really. i love sitting on the patio to work and i'm so grateful they let me stay so long. im not a morning person, but i make sure to get here as early as possible when i can just so i can have more time at fancy plants cafe! xander and cara are genuinely the most wonderful people and take care of me every time i come in. i keep ordering just so i can tip them on my card more lol

I got the croissant sandwich with the drip coffee. The sandwich was really good, and the preparer was even nice enough to offer more veggies. The drip was coffee delicious— very well prepared. Highly recommend this place for that vegan cafe experience!

Cute little vegan spot. Lots of yummy options on the menu. I thought the quiche was just okay but it also was paired with a small side salad- great deal for the price. The almond croissant was delicious- crispy outside and chewy inside.

Fancy Plants was highly recommended, and it lived up to my high expectations. We shared a variety of menu items, and they were all scrumptious. We had the deluxe bagel, a breakfast burrito, the tamales, and a bleu cheese and walnut salad. The service was fast, efficient, and friendly. The chef brought the food to our table and explained, with great pride, his process to make the bleu cheese. We also learned about the dinner menu and plan to return with a big group of friends. For that, you must make a reservation in advance. It is a set, multi-course menu that changes. You can also order it for takeout. Also, it is BYOB. I am so happy to have such a great and convenient vegan option in my neighborhood. Can’t wait to go back!

Wonderful! We loved everything! The maple citrus latte was killer. The lox bagel was the best breakfast I had in Chicago. The outdoor seating is lovely. The only thing that I think could have been better was the system for retrieving drinks and food. Otherwise this place has it all. I can’t wait to come back and try more things. Thank y’all!

I had the lavender latte and OH MY GOSH. It was absolutely wonderful. So much so, I went back and got a 2nd one. The breakfast bagel sandwich is good, I just wish there was a little more cream cheese.

One of my go to’s when I’m in Chicago. I love this place. I get the lox bagel on gluten free bread. It is so yummy! They also always have muffins from Mindful Baking, which I grab a few every time I visit. The Ube Muffin is my now favorite flavor they offer at this time, but they are all good. I prefer when they are on the moist and more gooey side than the over baked. My friend and I love to sit at their outside seating for lunch. When I first started going there (which has been quite a while) everyone working there seemed so happy to help all the time and see us. I would sadly say that we don’t get those employees anymore. None the less, they are still very helpful and I will always stop in for a treat when I’m in town.

Enjoyed a delicious vegan brunch here. We loved the bagel with cream cheese and lox, and the croissant sandwich was sooo good! Cinnamon buns were also out of this world!

The staff is very kind! I had the Breakfast Club Latte (iced) and I worried it may be too spicy or sweet... but it was delicious and well balanced. For lunch I ate the vegan BLT and added avocado (see pic with gorgeous yellow tomatoes). I do think tempeh looks funny in general, but the sandwich was filling and tastes great. I'd 100% return. Luckily it is just down the street. But note for the owners: I would have missed your place if it weren't for the street sign with an arrow pointing the way down Briar. Good placement!

Just went to Fancy Plants for the first time over the weekend. Had the croissant sandwich and it was fantastic. They have a whole case of vegan and gluten free pastries and a coffee setup, too. Highly recommended and can't wait to return.

Nice plant based cafe. Everything vegan, some gluten free options as well. The coffee drinks are really good. I also like the grain free bread. Nice spot to come for a bite, but wait times are pretty long when they are busy.

This was just delightful. I came in to catch up with an old friend. I had the breakfast club latte, which had a very unique and comforting blend of spices. My wife got the lavender latte which she said she also enjoyed! I had the carrot-lox bagel and it was very good— carrots are of course not a perfect replacement for smoked salmon, but I don’t think they are meant to be! They also have pastries and breakfast sandwiches and burritos. I would definitely return next time I am in town!

I love this place. The turmeric ginger latte (called ground up latte) is healthily sweet and the lentil lasagna was out of this world.

Espresso, service and food were so good. Plus, gorgeous plants all over the place and outside, too! Ate outside on a frigid morning but the yummy, plant-based food kept us warm. Loved it.

Just awesome vegan food. Perfect texture and umami taste of the sandwich, with the right crunch makes it unrecognisable from meat dishes and so much healthier. I really enjoyed it.

This was a place I always wanted to try, but never got around to it. When I made the choice to stay socially distant for Thanksgiving, I thought this would be the perfect time to try them. Their vegan Thanksgiving feast was absolutely delicious, and there was plenty of food. Online ordering was a breeze, and my meal was ready for pickup exactly when the said it would be. I'm definitely looking forward to trying more of their fabulous food!

The good: carrot lox bagel was yummy and the patio is cute. The bad: place needs some serious love, it seems like it’s been left to rot by the owners. Staff seem disinterested. Over priced for the quality. Skip the ‘croissant’. I was very excited to try this place but with so many vegan options in Chicago I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way.

Great 100% vegan cafe! The oat milk latte was delish 😋 as well as the summer veggie quiche.

I went here after a very rough morning. The girl at the counter was so kind to me even after I started to cry. The food was absolutely delicious and my matcha latte was amazing. I would recommend going here if you want small cafe vibes with delicious food and helpful staff. If I’m ever in the area, I will 100% go here again and again.
