This place is unique, their food is delicious and prices are low, on Fridays morning is very full but you no need to wait long to be seated, they have vegan menu and healthy drinks.

YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE IF YOURE A VEGETARIAN. I grew up eating tacos al pastor and once I became a vegetarian I haven’t had them in years, this place is so great! Husband and I got burrito al pastor, tacos al pastor, steak tacos, and steak quesadilla (all vegetarian!) and we loved everything! The service was so quick and everyone was very nice. I can’t wait to come back again!

I was saddened to hear that the owners husband had past away. I grew up going here with my mom so it was a very nostalgic place for me but I just recently went and the food changed. I would avoid going to the other locations because only this location cared about their quality but this time the rice was watery and I could of sworn they used to serve black beans with what I used to order. I used to think the husband was the owner and they told me that the wife had always been the owner but he was always there making sure everything was done with care. You will be missed sir.

Very clean restaurant. Delicious Mexican food options. Love the fact that they have a vegetarian menu. Their vegetarian burger is delicious aside of their seasoned potatoes. Jugos naturales are also big hit.

Their lent specials on Fridays are amazing, they have tacos de camaron, caldo de catfish, tilapia filets con arroz y frijoles, y tortitas de cameron. Those are just the ones I remember off the top of my head, but their regular menu is really good too.

They got my order and my wife's order wrong. And after I pointed out that our order was made wrong, the waitress gave me a snotty attitude. The food wasn't even good. This was the spot back then but I guess it's not anymore.

The pico de gallo can be a hit or miss sometimes, its either TOO MUCH TOMATO OR TOO MUCH CHILE. Look at all the tomato I got today. 😡🤬 & thats not all of it ! I dont mind tomatoes but its to a point it taste TOO much like ketchup!

If you are in Little Village stop here. More parking if you pull into ally between restaurant and next street. There is a parking lot there. Do not park blocking any garages. Great vegetarian options.

Service was slow. Food was less than average at best. It used to be great, but not sure what happened. Won't be returning.

I ate here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and walked away looking forward to returning. Their breakfast offerings look delicious. I tried a couple so far. My favorite so far "Desayuno Faro". I like my eggs over easy and it was delicious.

Okay okay, frist off I got a carne asada quesadilla(not sure if I spelled it right) they made it amazing! The beef was packing! They did not hold back on it, with veggies on the side👌 fire 🔥. I also got a beef burrito A+ ON THAT TOO! price for the quesadilla was like 7 to 8 bucks I think but 1 is good enough. Atmosphere is great! Can use a little Ceiling renovation that's all tho. Over great and I would recommend this place to anyone👌

The Windy City is known for its variety of excellent dining options, from classic steak houses to ethnic neighborhood joints. El Faro Restaurant is a perfect example of the latter. Located in East Pilsen, this authentic Mexican seafood spot is a gem for those looking to experience The Chi's vibrant Latino culture. As soon as I walked in, I was transported to a bustling beach town on the Pacific coast of Mexico. Bright decor, tile floors, smiling staff - it immediately felt like a little slice of the homeland. The dinner crowd was diverse, a reflection of Pilsen's community. At the bar, locals chatted in Spanish while sipping Micheladas. For appetizers, we shared Camarones al Mojo de Ajo - plump shrimp simmered in garlic butter. So fresh and flavorful, it got our taste buds ready for the main dishes to come. I ordered the Pescado Veracruzano, a whole red snapper baked with tomatoes, olives, and capers. Lightly crisp skin gave way to moist flaky white meat. What an amazing representation of classic Veracruz-style cooking here in the City in a Garden. Plenty of nearby landmarks provide entertainment before or after a meal at El Faro. Take a stroll through historic Pilsen and check out the colorful murals. Or head to the Art Institute to see famous works by local artists like Grant Wood. Wherever the wind takes you next in Chicagoland, be sure to save room for the home cooking at this local treasure.

Love coming here every time I visit my city! Been coming here for yrs. I love their tortas and gorditas. Everything is fresh, delicious and authentic. I did notice their portions did get small but I mean the prices are good compared to other restaurants. Will keep coming here always!

My family loved the food here. I ordered a torta and it was good but only had beans and meat. It was good but I was expecting something with avocado, lettuce, tomato and onions.

Food was hot but the seating is uncomfortable to those who are a bit big in size. They need bigger booths. Other than that it's ok.

Good traditional food at good prices. Love the fruit salad plate with honey and granola.

Came in with a family party of 16. They took us all in quickly, service was very good and attentive. Food was super delicious and fresh fruit/veggie juices. There was plenty for my lady who does not eat red meats.. they have their own parking lot, kid friendly menu, and prices are not high. Servings where very generous.

Service was excellent, had some vegan tacos (the chkn with Nopales, steak, pastor, and chorizo). The standout was the pastor, but they were all amazing. It is not easy to tell they are not really meat. But they are delicious. Coffee was very good. Only one problem about this place... good luck finding parking. Residential streets are permit only, there's no parking lot, and rarely any open public street parking. I would just Uber or Lyft there.

My fav thing to eat here is a vegetarian torta. Torta de soya, estilo pollo. I'm allergic to shell fish, this is the place I tried a tosta de ceviche de soya. I loved it.

Haven't been there since last summer as am discovering other vegan restaurants. Liked the oat milk licuados though. Very good! Their asada and Chorizo vegan tacos are yummy. Have to request no dairy though. I tried the pastor and even when I ate pork years ago was picky about my al pastor. Wasn't bad Just preferred the other ones. Asked for vegan gordita with asada but was told they don't make that. Maybe the gordita masa isn't vegan? Will have to ask next time. The prices are reasonable and I grew up in the area but only went with my dad occasionally. Glad there's vegan options now! Definitely love the licuados 😋

Rare vegan and vegetarian tacos. Authentic taste. Soy pollo is bland, soy pastor and soy chorizo were well-spiced. Yummy smoothies, superman smoothie is delicious. I would not recommend hibiscus drink, it was too tart. Friendly staff. The restaurant does not look like it has gotten any upgrade in the past decade, however, it appears clean.

I've been going here since I was a kid. Love love this place, food quality and ingredients are next to none.

Best burrito I’ve ever had. The Elgin and Chicago locations are all consistent with the same quality. Tacos are really good too but my whole family comes here for the burritos

They successfully mix in some fun and character to the experience instead of everything being uptight like many other restaurants of this caliber. Reserve well ahead of time, and try to book later in the evening if you can. Enjoy!

Its a great vegan restaurant. But it also serves the regular chicken, steak, beef tacos. It also has a kids menu. Its very clean, the staff are very nice and accomdating. They treat you good here. There food is delicious. And theyre price is not that expensive.

It was a classic mx restaurant when I use to live in the neighborhood. I stopped by and had a steak burrito and the quality of the meat isn't good at all, it has the same problem as the indio restaurant, on how the meat has too much fat. Definitely not recommended.

We’ve come to this restaurant many times before and never had a bad experience till recently. We came here and ordered a torta veggie cubana and chilaquiles. When the food came the first thing I noticed was that the chilaquiles were very cold and later on we even found a hair inside of the torta. We told the waitress and she replaced the torta and brought back a new plate of chilaquiles but the chilaquiles came back just as cold. I couldn’t even eat them from how bad they were. When we got the receipt we noticed that they had charged us for two tortas so we told them about it and the owner of the restaurant said they would take one off. We told him of our experience with the food and he was very rude to us and even talked back to us. I would not recommend this place, as the owner said “if you don’t like it here there are other places to eat”. I’m sure it is not the first or the last time this happens, especially considering no one in the kitchen had hair nets. Any other place is better than this one.
