With a lifetime of consuming the full gamut of Mexican food, I was initially skeptical that a fully vegetarian kitchen could approximate the flavors and textures of the original recipes. Thus, it was a remarkable surprise to find myself thoroughly enjoying the tortas, tamales, tacos, and burritos with so much gusto and no longing for anything else. The rich, saucy, umami flavors and requisite textures of traditional dishes are all there. The food has excellent quality and service is amazing. Now I'm a believer that you can have an authentic vegetarian Mexican culinary experience. To test this, I have brought this food to other Mexicans without revealing it's true colors, and have watched with delight and amazement at how much they enjoy it and how much they are astonished that it is vegan. Not every city can boast to have this gem, so whenever I have visitors, this is one of the places I highly recommend.

My waitress was very lovely! Nothing but smiles. Chill atmosphere. Idk if I’ve ever seen such an extensive menu! It was hard for me to make up my mind. Went yesterday, just might go back today!

I am giving this place 4 stars because the food was amazing for being vegetarian. I didn't try the vegan cheese that they offered...I'll do that next time. I left off a star, because I could honestly give NO stars, for everything else but the food. We went on Sunday evening to try out this vegetarian Mexican food restaurant. It is a small place with 10 total tables available. I'm not a newbie when it comes to "hole in the wall" dive Mexican restaurants. They make the best food. So I didn't bat an eyelash. But let's be real..it's a dive. We walk in and there are 3 tables open. All are dirty and have not been wiped down. We r greeted right away and the guy says, grab a menu and sit down. So we pick a dirty table, because we have no other option, thinking they will come by to clean it. Nope. Maybe a greeting of "grab a menu, and sit down, I'll come wipe off the table in a moment" would have been better. We sit and wait at least 10 minutes or so for chips and water. ... and even longer for our order to be taken. It was so long that we wondered if we were supposed to go up to the counter and order. We ask another waitress that is now cleaning off some more tables that have now been emptied of customers and she says, I'll come take your order when I am done cleaning. Hmm...ok. we have been here at least 15 minutes already..but we will wait more. She finishes up and proceeds to take another table's order that is sitting next to us that HAS JUST SAT DOWN! We now have been here for what seems like forever and she takes this order for 4 people before us. Whatever. So we finally order but....... Food also takes forever!!! They never brought us our drinks we ordered....but you guessed it....everyone else around us got theirs. There had to have been like 8 -10, to go orders filled and processed with people coming and going like crazy. I felt that they filled more to go orders than dealing with customers inside. While sitting and waiting to have our order taken, and while waiting for our food...the one waiter and one waitress was doing the same to other patrons too. Taking an excessively long time to take orders. Food is amazing though, so that made up for the horrible service and mediocre atmosphere. When paying and mentioning to them that we again never got our drinks...so just to take it off of our bill....the waitress did not even offer a quick I'm sorry, or apology of any kind. This place would do better with better workers or maybe more workers if 2 people can't keep up with 10 tables properly. The uniqueness of the food would be the only reason I come back here.

My husband and I’s go to and fave restaurant!!! They really do their thing here and the food is always top tier. My husband always gets the steak tacos - loves them. I usually get the lamb tacos but this time I got the Cuban torta which was absolutely delicious. Horchata always on point. But my absolute favorite - TRES LECHES CAKE!!! So light and fluffy. The peaches are a nice touch. They’re usually out so I call in advance to make sure they have some for me lol. This place is a gem!!!!!

Very cool place for vegetarians and vegans. Something for everyone, from more mainstream vegetarian steak to cool authentic cactus tacos. The meat substitutes do sort of all taste the same at the end though. Highly recommend this place, especially as one of the more cost-efficient places to eat with great customer service.

So much variety of vegan food that is actually delicious. Staff is always friendly and helpful with recommendations you can tell they have a passion for this. The portion sizes are great and you may have some leftovers.

Worst Mexican food in Chicago. I got a steak burrito and was flavorless. The steak had rubbery Texture and tasted if it was heated in a microwave. The beans had no flavor or salt. Don’t go here.. it’s not good at all.

The food here was excellent! We had 2 vegans and 1 gluten-free person in our party, and we found plenty of options. The server told us almost everything was gluten-free (though I didn’t ask for ingredient lists or anything so if it’s a big concern I’d double check). Highly recommend checking this place out!

I love mexican food and I'm not a vegan! Tried this place and everything we tried was exceptionally good. Tamale was very close to the meat version and honestly loved all the dishes. Must try for all! :)

First time going to the new remodeled space and it’s the same delicious food. I tried their very spicy green pozole and my husband loved the mixed quesadilla. My favorite thing is their chorizo tacos. Can’t wait to go back and tried more food!

The vegan chicharron quesadilla was great. The first bite, I had to second guess myself if this was actually pork, because it was marinated perfectly to the taste of pork. The cheese, I wish it had thicker consistency, but great taste. The customer service was great (Deisy) was welcoming and helpful and explaining the items. They also gave me a vegan horchata that was refreshing just nailed it on the taste. Vegan steak tacos needs more seasoning for my taste buds. Thanks

It's pretty small and no frills as far as decor, but the food and service is excellent. I tried the Al pastor, carnitas, and tinga tacos which were easily the best tacos I've ever had. The tamale was pretty good too. I also ordered the banana, strawberry, pineapple juice which was delicious and refreshing. For dessert, I got the tres leches cake which was also delicious. The menu is relatively big and I love the fact that everything is vegan or can be made vegan. As a bonus, pricing is on the cheap side.

the best vegan mexican food I have ever / will ever have. TWO types of homemade vegan cheese options!! almond and potato! the tacos (tinga, chirizo, pastor, asada and carnitas) are to die for, the rice is delicious and the guac is so good. and the tres leches cake is so yummy. not enough good things to say!

I'll never be able to go to another Taco place after coming here. I can't believe it's taken me so long to try this place, especially considering that I don't eat meat and this is an entirely vegan/vegetarian restaurant but I'm so glad I finally did. I can't get over how delicious it was, they've NAILED everything. I didn't get a chance to try the juice this time but next time I will because they all looked and sounded great.

Solid spot for vegan and vegetarian Mexican food. They have tons of options for meat alternatives as well as veggies. Most of their meat alternatives are soy-based. The burritos are quite tasty and remind me of my childhood eating Mexican food in California. The quesadillas are made with big corn tortillas and have great options for fillings. The soy-based “beef” and “chicken” are well seasoned and have good texture. Horchata is also good. Recommended for plant-based eaters and meat eaters!

Both spots are great. The last one I went to was the Pilsen location with my folks. The atmosphere is great, and really nice ambiance for something casual and fun. The food is always great and their menu has a tremendous amount of options. My folks, who aren't vegan, love coming here with me when theyre in town.
