I really enjoy eating here prior to the Lifetime half marathon. Staff is fantastic besides the food and environment. Fantastic entertainment.

My family took my cousin here for his 25th birthday. The food was so amazing. I had the beef short rib with rice and broccoli. It was delicious and the drink were awesome. The service was 5 stars for me. Only bummer they do card for vaccination or ask for 24 covid result to dine there. I will definitely be coming back in the near future.

Do Not spend your money at this place. The Manager that goes by the name Aldo has no respect for you. You are just a dollar sign and that's it. The bar tender lied and said he wasn't serving drinks, but then I observed him still serving drinks. (I hadn't had a drink and was only ordering one while waiting on my food) Aldo poorly handle my complaint about his bartender by first saying I had to order from a location across from the bar, (really?) then lying again and saying that the bartender was hard of hearing. Not only that, I didn't receive half of my order. After returning a few days later to get the other half of my order, I had to remind Aldo about why I was there. Once he remembered they placed my order. I asked him about the events that evening and Aldo said, "Don't question me." Ask yourself people, do you as a customer have the right to question the Manager? The answer is absolutely! Ask yourself, do you want to buy from an establishment that would treat any customer like that? Aldo was disrespectful because he is the only manager there and if you ask to speak with the person over him he will tell you there is no one. So you see why him and his bartender feel like they can be inappropriate with you and be sharp with their tongues. I promptly asked for a refund and will never return. If you read the other reviews, there are a lot of people that say the service is horrible.

Okay I love a trendy taco option on the menu so when I saw BBQ duck tacos with pear pico I had to try it. Oh my gosh, it was delicious! I always have high expectations for fusion restaurants, and I was impressed by Chant! Even the decor inside keeps you guessing as to what kind of food you're going to experience but trust me it's a great one! Also staff was incredibly friendly and super quick service as well.

A few weeks back, I met someone I had connected with online for the first time. I have to admit, I was hesitant about the restaurant choice, but it turned out to be a great experience. The ambiance was top-notch, with a live band and a singer. The menu had some unique names, but the food was fantastic and reasonably priced. This restaurant is perfect if you're looking for a high-end experience without breaking the bank. Don't wait any longer, gather your friends and head over to this place!

Nice lunch and dining experience. Shrimp salad and shrimp/grits were both delicious with nice flavor. Ambiance was good for lunch, likely more intimate during the evening time. Nice decor, very cultural in theme. Service was good, waiter was fairly attentive and was moderately friendly. Overall no complaints. Nothing out of the ordinary but good food and a nice place near the Museum of Science and Industry to stop for lunch.

Warm, contemporary dining spot in Hyde Park. Food was satisfying and not overly seasoned. Staff friendly and attentive. Fine for a date, after work meet-up or business meeting. Warm tones, subdued background noise allows for easy conversations in which you can hear each other. Parking, of course in Hyde Park, will be a challenge. But parking lots are within walking distance.

Unfortunately my experience here was very subpar and I have to give it this rating because of the food. However, allow me to first say that the servers were very enthusiastic. They constantly checked on my friend and me for water and frequently asked us how everything was, which I responded with good because I didn't want them to take the food back. They checked in a bit too frequently, honestly, but I appreciated it and wouldn't want them to change it. Now the food, it wasn't terrible terrible, but it was far away from good. The crab & shrimp dip tasted like a bland version of the lobster dip in Red Lobster, with way more obscure ingredients that didn't reflect the menu descriptions. I also would've preferred nachos over wonton chips because those wonto chips didn't really go with the dip in my opinion. Then the duck egg noodles were too salty, but was the most edible out of everything. My friend had that one and she commented on how salty it was. I got the sambal fried catfish mac & cheese, and it wasn't good. The catfish was not fried in good quality oil, and in no way I could taste the sambal marination in the catfish. It was very bland. I dipped it in the sauce and it was a little bit better, but even then I could not taste the sambal at all and I ordered the dish for its fusion aspect. Then the mac & cheese still had many slices of unmelted cheese, and tasted bland as well. The napa coleslaw didn't save the day, unfortunately. I ended up not finishing it, which wasn't what I usually would have done. In addition, I don't know if it's because of how oily the food was, or because the oil quality wasn't good enough, my friend and I both had terrible stomachaches afterwards and we were forced to take Pepto tablets to relieve the pain.

Tried to make an order over the phone and was asked for my credit card information. I declined and decided to make the order in person. The restaurant ran out of one of the ingredients, spinach, to make the dish I wanted and the employee did not offer to sub in another ingredient. After I asked, he said they couldn't do it and I asked if he could check with the cook. He asked then said it would be an extra 3 dollars to sub in broccoli even though they ran out of the ingredient. He later came back and said they had the spinach. When I got home and ate, they did not put any soy sauce in the dish, which it normally has, and it was bland. The customer service was bad and food was as well.

The lamb chops are so delicious. The turkey rolls, shrimp wraps & crabs cakes are so tasty. The lychee martini is strong & scrumptious. I love Chant!

Told the manager I was inappropriately assaulted by another customer by the bathroom and he was so ignorant towards me. Used to love this place a but good customer service is a must. I can only give so many chances before I say forget it and never come back

First they charge an 18% service fee. I loved the tempura fried green tomatoes-- it had a crispy coating with the tang of the green tomatoes maintained. The duck burger was interesting-- the duck was a bit gamey, but I disliked the overwhelming pepper taste. With a bit less pepper, I think I would have enjoyed it. The fries are real potatoes with garlic and some cilantro. The orange chicken rice bowl was very sweet (?Mandarin orange pieces). Overall very unique experience

First time visiting Chant. Friendly service, delicious cocktails. Had the Pina Colada Martini, the husband had a Cucumber Martini. My dish, the BBQ Duck Tacos was delicious. Husband had chicken and shrimp fried rice, which he gave a thumbs up. Will be back.

I feel disrespected and frankly apalled by the lack of orange in your orange chicken. Orange chicken! More like grey chicken!

The atmosphere is very smooth while bringing great display of food and drinks.... definitely date night material, but bring a budget of 100 dollars or more because it is upscale in prices. Great presentation for food, but some plates were ok not very tasty. I will say their curry catfish plate and Korean BBQ chicken plate was amazing.

I went here on a Saturday night, had dinner, and then later that evening, they move the tables out of the way for live a DJ or a band. It was a lot of fun to experience eating and the opportunity to listen to music. Everyone was dressed up for a night out which made it even more fun. The food is considered a fusion of traditional and contemporary Asian. Good food, not my favorite Pad Thai (I'm pretty picky on this) but it is gluten free! Plenty of choices on food, so I would say, its worth a try.

Everything we ordered came fresh and flavorable. Went on a Monday around 1pm and there wasn't a crowd. Tried the oxtails, catfish, and lamb chops. All have an Asian flare and influence, so do go expecting soul or Caribbean food. Stay open minded and you will enjoy. The only issue my dinner mates had was the dipping sauce for the shrimp rolls and fried green tomatoes, both had a mayo base that overpowered the desired idea they were trying to achieve. Overall, we highly recommend

The environment and food here is amazing! This was the first time I have been here. The first time I ordered a BBQ duck Tacos. The taste was amazing even though it’s kinda small. The second time I ordered a dash cooked with shrimp and my boyfriend got a Pad Thai. The tastes are awesome again! We came over around 3pm on Sunday and it was still full of people. A must try in the Hyde Park!! The pictures were taken in a non peak time on weekdays.

Came for brunch with my girlfriends. Our server Davion was nice. I had the shrimp tacos which were decent, the mango salsa didnt really do much. We shared the kung pao wings and the spinach dip were really good though.

Food is very good, but they need to pay attention to the dishware. Upon inspection, I had to ask for another set of utensils, then the plate was not clear of dishwasher residue. That was a spoiler for me. Hadn't been in a while since pandemic, so the last dining experience was great, but this time wasn't as pleasant. Service was just "Okay!"

We didn't like the food. Too salty or sweet, with a weird sauce. This is not a cool fusion place. Just wanted to try out this place. Not coming again. The reception was good, only plus.

Simply delicious! Yes, that's how I'm starting this review. I enjoyed lunch here on a Sunday afternoon after attending church. It's usually packed, so I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get a table. I was able to social distance as well, which made indoor dining less stressful, but they have patio seating, too. I've tried to dine in before on a Sunday afternoon and it was a 45 minute wait! It's beautifully decorated and cozy inside. The wait staff and my server were on point! As soon as I sat down I had water and menus. My server came over promptly and she was attentive during my entire visit. I ordered the Shrimp Rolls and the Sambal Catfish Mac and Cheese and both were amazing! Portions are fairly large, so be prepared to take some to go. It's now one of my faves and I'll definitely return.

This is a great restaurant. Will definitely return to try other dishes. Come with an open mind. We had the fried catfish and macaroni. The macaroni was pretty bland but everything else was great. Pear martinis were delicious . We also had the kung pao wings and the shrimp rolls.

I used to like this place a few years ago but when I walked over there tonight to get what I remember being a pretty decent pad Thai I was shocked to get what taste like dryed out noodles and chicken with no flavor at all. No chili sauce was given either and that's the only thing that could maybe save this disaster. Easily the worst chicken pad Thai I've ever had. Not sure what's going on but yikes was it bad. Not even a lime or lemon wedge or pea pods but lots of cliantro and hard unevenly cooked noodles.

Came here for my birthday and what a treat it was. Loved the food, loved my cocktail (Pineapple Sake our server was so nice and helpful. Parking was probably my only issue but that was just a (very) minor issue. Would definitely be back again. The picture below is Fried Catfish and Macaroni & Cheese.

The restaurant was great! Nice vibe with live music and great food. 3 stars because the space is small I felt like I was sitting in the next guest lap we was so close and the drinks could be be better, drink size portions was small. For 18%.gratuity the service was mediocre. Again I would come back for takeout for sure.

Chant is a serious experience you deserve to enjoy for yourself. Not only does the restaurant have a most beautiful "Zen" esthetic, they also had a live band playing old school jazz as tou dine. The staff is so friendly and amazing. The menu is very unique and the serving sizes are huge! I had the chicken meatball curry (sooo good) Lobster Mac n Cheese which was utterly amazing (but I just wish they would de-shell the lobster tail. It's hard to remove the shell and look pretty at the same time) and a few old fashioned's which were just yummy. My only complaint is parking. But in Hyde Park you know what you're getting yourself into in that regard. I HIGHLY recommend. I can't wait to go back again.

I went on a Saturday night when they had a live band perform. It was a nice vibe for date night. The pear martini is the best martini on the menu. My waitress said that the lamb chops entree is the most popular item on the menu. To me they were just ok, a bit overrated and lacked flavor. The spinach lacked flavor as well . The mashed potatoes were good. My husband ordered chicken wings and fries and loved his meal. Overall, I would go back to the restaurant and try more items and another pear martini

The food isn’t the same and the service sucks! I ordered about $100 in food for delivery. One meal was steak with shrimp mashed potatoes and asparagus. Granted I know the mashed potatoes would have gravy but they packaged everything in one container and it came looking like grease soup! I called for help and the manager “was too busy to come to the phone.” So after waiting for and paying for delivery I dressed and drove there only to encounter the same teenager who answered my call and notified me the manager was too busy to address a customer. Inside she looked at me like I was out of my mind and questioned the issue with the liquid/greasy mess! The manager low key stood nearby listening but not addressing the issue. When the teen became overwhelmed and insisted the he steps in he came with the stank face and asked me what I wanted… oh this was after the teen asked me if I asked for the items to be packaged separately? Like who does that? One it wasn’t an option and two you all the food service professionals you should know the proper way to package food for delivery! Back to it… while saying what I wanted (which was the food redone and packaged correctly) he cut me off got an attitude and walked away leaving the teenager to communicate to the chef what was needed. Other than that atrocity the food just doesn’t taste the same. It wasn’t good! I also witnessed a young man come in with about 3 people in his party after saying he called in and was told to come in he could be seated l/served arrived 15mins later and was then told they aren’t seating anyone else (all by the teen) the manager stood within feet of this man and relayed it refusing to talk to him until the teen walked away and literally left him no choice!

The wait staff are kind and most familiar with the menu. Small plates are great to share and sample the offerings. If you're really hungry the large plates are sure to satisfy. The lamb chops are some of the best in a 10 mile radius. Vegan the lights are also available.

I've been there twice and both time had one of the small plate options (firecracker chicken and drunken noodles w/chicken). Small plates but enough to get you full or to take some home. The fries are good as well. It's a small restaurant. We were a party of ten and they were able to seat us by the window comfortably. We had good service as well. Don't get too loud though,we were asked to keep it down. I will definitely go back.
