Healthy, tasty, and adequately priced indian vegan food that can be made gluten free if it is not already gluten free. Amazing dinner. I don't live in Chicago but I have been to most of the vegan restaurants and this is honestly one of the healthiest restaurants I have beer been to, and I enjoyed the food so I'm going back again eventually

The two stars is being generous because of Jay's hard work!!! (He was THE ONLY personnel in the restaurant, no kidding!!)😳 We made reservations and confirmed 2x with the OWNER!! When we arrived, (8 of us for dinner, we were the ONLY patrons on a Friday night). 😯Once inside, the owner demanded proof of vaccines: which we happen to have and masks. 😷NO problem. She acted surprised, irritated and hurried. She took our orders (which we had to do off of their website because she didn't have menus) and informed us she had to GO..😡 SHE LEFT WITH HER FRIEND & LOCKED US IN. There was NO ONE else there but Jay (who she called to fill-in for the chef, answer the phones and make & take care of carry-out orders, and STILL cook 8 meals). 😐We started to leave but JAY convinced us to stay. He got our orders right and started cooking our appetizers and meals.🙄 We offered to help him cook, answer the phones, take orders, etc. We were already manning the front door while he was in the kitchen; (remember, we were locked-in so everyone else picking up orders was locked out!) 🤨 One hour+ later, we were served. SUPRISE ENDING: the food was delicious!! 🤗Thanks to JAY! HE GETS 5 STARS for staying professional, not "losing it" and walking out too and refusing to let us down. 😜We were starving but JAY came to the rescue!! After all that, we discussed giving the restaurant another shot..after talking to the OWNER to ensure a better experience. We'll see if she has the time.🤔 As a small business owner myself, I have NEVER given another small business a sub-standard on-line rating!! I know how much work we put in to managing our business; especially during these pandemic times. We went there to support her business. My intention was to talk with the owner about our experience and see if we could arrange another (redemption) visit. No response; so no plans to return.

Good place to go if you are looking for organic/vegan food. They are very allergy aware and claim to have a separate kitchen. Taste of food was not to my liking your mileage may vary. Beer they served was warm. One of the few places I have seen that has gluten free samosas.

Hands down THE BEST Vegan Indian food ever!!! I first found Arya Bhavan back in 2014 and every trip I make to Chicago I always make sure to go. The family that owns this sweet place are the nicest and always make you feel like your home!!

GF appetizers are good, and a real treat. Entrees are only ok at best, not very flavorful and not spicy either. Veggies were a bit mushy. The food takes quite a bit of time for them to prepare, so be prepared to wait even if you're the only one there. Wished the flavors, texture, and quality of the food was better. Even the rice is not very good quality (including the brown rice). I was disappointed.

New favorite restaurant! Excellent food, whether or not you’re vegan. Almost the entire menu is also gluten free as well, so this place is perfect for those with dietary restrictions. This place has been struggling since Covid, so go and show them some support, they deserve it!

FANTASTIC! A vegan friend turned me on to this place & I cannot say enough good things about it. Food is fabulous. The owner is a doll - she is passionate about good food to make you feel good, too. My only complaint - it was so warm in there but I know the culture has a low tolerance for A/C. And I'm an American we wants it freezing, lol Don't forget to order dessert; lemon bar is the perfect refreshing bite after spicy food!

Food is average. Service is very slow as the owners cool and serve themselves. They did not start the heater and so it was cold. No napkins etc.

Please don’t go here as you will be charged 15$ as gratitude fee We were not informed about this earlier .When we asked about this to the owner she was saying that it’s been charged this way for all! We were there for 45 minutes and haven’t seen any one around visiting this place Food was ok only! As a tourist and a person loving good I felt this is beyond not acceptable!!

We as a family decided to try this place and were not disappointed! We came at a time when it wasn't busy so she tended to assist us often and with our kids she went above and beyond to keep them entertained, I was so thrilled! It as my first time having Indian food and made me want so much more! So delicious!! Naan bread was my favorite!

The BEST Indian vegan food I've ever had! I'm allergic to dairy and eggs and they took such good care of my allergies and were true to their statement of being a vegan restaurant. The mango lassi was my favorite and all of the naan, appetizers, dosa, was all so good! Very affordable as well. Well kept facility and the food we ordered came out very quickly! They also do gluten-free options!

One of our favorite restaurants! Incredibly delicious, diverse vegan menu. The 9 piece appetizer, dosa, main dishes and dessert are out of this world. I think a lot of the low ratings are due to operational challenges impacting pick up / deliveries in particular, but the food is worth the occasional trouble:)

Literally the best palak paneer I have ever tasted. Also, we got three different desserts and all of them were amazing!! I never thought I would taste vegan Indian food that was actually authentic and delicious, but this place has it nailed.

I love the food here. But they just don’t have their act together if you want it delivered. They need to withdraw from Grub Hub. One time my order was 90 minutes late. Another time I spent 20 minutes on grub hub chat trying to determine whether or not they received the order because it was 5 minutes away from delivery time, there was no progress report, there was no answer on the phone at the restaurant (multiple tries), and grub hub thought perhaps they were closed. They really need to do better if they want to have a delivery service.

This was a great find in little India. My wife and I were looking for Indian gluten free food, and this was just the ticket. The food was great and the owners were very friendly. We found several options and went back the next day for dessert. We will return for sure. Peace to all. John 3:16

This place is wonderful with so much life and love infused into every aspect of it. They also offer vegetarian cooking classes and dance classes. The staff is kind and personable and the atmosphere is filler with a calm energy with plants and nice statues and crystals. On top of that, the food is delicious!

Title: Utterly Humiliating Experience at Arya Bhavan Rating: ⭐ (1 star) I cannot express enough how deeply disappointed and humiliated I felt after my recent visit to Arya Bhavan. A friend had generously gifted me a $150 gift card for this restaurant, and my anticipation was high as we embarked on a long journey of an hour and a half to savor their reputed cuisine. However, what unfolded at Arya Bhavan shattered all expectations and left me feeling insulted and disrespected. Upon our arrival, we approached the restaurant with excitement, eagerly anticipating a delightful dining experience. However, our hopes were crushed when the staff at Arya Bhavan outright declined to accept our gift card. The shock and disappointment were palpable as we tried to reason with them, explaining that it was a valid gift card worth a substantial amount. Instead of addressing the situation professionally, the staff displayed a complete lack of empathy and understanding, leaving us feeling belittled and ignored. As if the rejection of our gift card wasn't demeaning enough, the ultimate blow came when the restaurant personnel proceeded to lock the doors right in front of us, without any explanation or apology. This act of blatant disrespect and disregard for customers is truly unfathomable, especially in this digital era where businesses heavily rely on positive reviews and customer loyalty. The level of arrogance demonstrated by the owner and staff of Arya Bhavan is not only infuriating but also deeply concerning. Their actions clearly indicate a severe lack of professionalism, work ethics, and basic customer service skills. It is shocking to witness such behavior from a supposedly reputable establishment that should prioritize customer satisfaction above all else. I strongly urge anyone considering dining at Arya Bhavan to reconsider. No one deserves to be subjected to such humiliation and mistreatment when seeking a simple meal. Save yourself the embarrassment and frustration and choose a different dining option that values its customers and treats them with the respect they deserve.

The food is VEGAN. So no butter or ghee. Everything is supposed to be organic. So expect the normal dishes to taste different. While the quality of the food was good the menu was a lot smaller. The restaurant was short staffed when we visited. The only waiter did his best to serve all tables on a sat evening. The price was on a expected side, but didn't feel like we got our money's worth.

Excellent food, ambience and service, all the staff are very friendly and courteous, but a special mention for Mufthi, who is an excellent manager who took care of a team of 10 of us adults and 3 kids with utmost care and hospitality. He was very patient in taking a very detailed order from all of us and made sure that everything was served on time and with perfection. I will suggest this place to everyone who loves food and like to have a pleasurable experience

Both my partner and I have food allergies, which makes eating out difficult, but there was an abundance of options available that both of us could have, which was awesome! We opted to start with the samosas, traditional for me and gluten free for the others and a couple other dishes, including idli and dal makani. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared! I would highly recommend this restaurant. Their staff is also kind and truly passionate about what they do.

Best Samosas ever (and baked not fried. Try the dosa. Incredible. We tried the appetiser platter, four entrees, and the roti and naan. Everything was incredible and served with care. Five stars

Arya Bhavan means Welcome Home. Excellent food. We had the appetizers mixed basket the lentil soup and the Eggplant entree. Wonderful flavors that hit your palate. Totally amazing food and atmosphere. Kirti the chef and owner was super attentive. She shared her story of her restaurant and you could feel her passion for it. She even grows many of her own herbs. Definitely will go back. She also offers cooking classes which I plan to sign-up. Reservations and Masks and proof of Vaccine Needed.

Wouldn't recommend if you came looking at the amazing menu and pictures on their website. It is deciet at its best. I don't know when those pictures were clicked. Probably when the restaurant opened and there was an actual chef. Terrible desert(was frozen when I took it. Clearly shows when it was made). Vegetable Tofu thingy in the menu I ordered to break even using a credit card was abysmal that I took away all the veggies and roasted some cashews at home, added them to the dish and consumed it, only because I didn't want to throw food.

Had such a great experience at Arya Bhavan! The gentleman serving us was very polite and attentive. As a vegan and a Rogers Park native, this will be one of my go-to spots. FYI—all the food is vegan! The menu is very diverse and large. There was also vegan wine (although I noticed not all the wines were actually vegan, so be careful). It’s also BYOB, so I’ll be bringing my own alcohol next time.
