The food here is great. Large portions and very good. One of my favorites for this style of food in the Chicago area. Been going here since this location opened 15 years or so ago. Usually once a week but the last year only once every few months and there's a reason for that. The sultan tax( as me and my CO workers have been calling it). Every other Restaraunt in this area charges 11.75% but sultans charges more for some odd reason. We've speculated they're trying to accommodate their new credit card only policy...or trying to pay for their proposed new location in pilsen. Either way, I've brought it to their managers attention every time I've been charged the sultan tax to no avail. And they've been doing this for about a year now. I'm thinking ever since they upgraded their menu board and cash machines. In the beginning of the sultan tax I noticed you can order online instead and get it for the regular rate. Now, they updated that as well and it's in the wide open how they're overcharging right on their own ritual online system. $15 dinner at 11.75% is like$1.70 or so in tax. Not $1.99 as charged. This shows on the receipt as Restaraunt and Pier tax. Well, 2521 n Clark is not navy pier so guess what? You've been gouging people for over a year. Time to FIX IT(that's my hopes with this Google post... and I rarely ever post Google reviews. Always use my personal Facebook to review instead). So if you like the food like I do then just be aware that you'll have to pay the sultan tax to eat here. Unless, the Chicago department of finance gets there first.

Sultan's Market is my go-to, quick Mediterranean food restaurant in the city. The food is delicious and the price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. I've only ordered take out so I am not sure what it would be like to eat inside. I love their meat combo dinner, and I always compliment it with some lentil soup as well. Hits the spot everytime!

Ordered some takeout including the falafel sandwich which I've had before but I've always ordered in person and waited there. Halfway through I bit into a rock that was in the sandwich, almost broke a tooth and was scared to eat anything else. Definitely put me off for good

Inexpensive - hearty - quick - tasty. I think every Chicagoan and needs to know about Sultan’s Market. It really is a treat to be able to pop in, and spend $7 on a great sandwich and two falafels, then eat it at the park. We ordered both the Lamb Shawarma and chicken Shawarma. Both were delicious but I would definitely recommend the chicken if you had to pick one. I really liked the falafel‘s. Even though they are a little bit oily, that’s expected since it’s deep-fried. The flavor was great and I love the texture. They were not dry at all. I would recommend adding extra hummus to your sandwich.

The people here are so kind and always give a warm greeting. The prices and amount of food they give you cant compare to any other place. You'll always have leftovers or a feast 😋

Affordable sandwiches, baked pies, plates and salad bar for dine-in, take out or delivery. I love the falafel sandwich with feta added and extra spicy! A nice assortment of canned and bottled drinks to choose from and baklava or Turkish Delight for dessert. You can eat well for $6-10.

Just grabbed a falafel sandwich for lunch to go. Asked for it to be spicy and to add feta which I was told was going to be extra, but I agreed to pay for it. Came back to my office to find that my falafel was not spicy and missing the feta I had paid for. Disappointed with the lack of attention to detail and up charge for an item I didn’t end up getting. Food was still good, but was missing the spicy kick.

Tasty, quick, and cheap are there words that come to mind whenever I think of Sultan’s Market. The portions are huge and the meat is very flavorful. The hummus was excellent and the pita bread as well as the rice and beans were both on par. Also would recommend the lentil soup which was nice thick - perfect for a winter dinner.

My favorite place for Mediterranean food! I love the spinach pies, lamb shwarma, and the dinner plates! Great bargain for the taste!

Eurgh, wanted to like this place but my pita was a soggy mess that completely fell apart as soon as I tried to pick it up. Good value considering how it tastes and how much it costs, but man, execution left a lot to be desired. I would definitely get the plate next time if I ever come back. Space is a bit tight inside -- not much in the way of indoor seating. Maybe a couple small tables for two.

I give it 3.5 stars. If you are wanting authentic middle eastern food this place is not it, unfortunately. The chicken sharwarma was good but not authentic it tasted more like a chicken wrap with hummus. The service was great. The price was good. There is seating available. Only street parking which is not free. I don't know if I'll come back since it didn't really wow me.

Extremely reliable place where all of the food is near perfect. Shawarma, falafels, the various pies, and even (especially!) the soups are top notch. I also like to get a large container of hummus (which comes with fresh pita) on my way out. It looks unassuming but you can always count on delicious and affordable middle eastern street food.

We came here just for a quick bite to eat for dinner and we both really enjoyed it. I would definitely come back to pick up something quick and easy. The staff was really nice and quick. EDIT: I’m so sad to say this but I think I got food poisoning from this dinner. I got the lamb dinner and my boyfriend got the lamb shawarma but he did not get sick. I’m very sad but I will not be able to eat here again.

The falafel wrap was really good & affordable at only $6. I’d recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

My wife and I were headed to the Greek restaurant next-door, but were unimpressed by the menu and went to Sultan's Market instead. I had the best Lamp Shawarma I've ever had, and my wife had the best Falafel she's had. Good value too. Not much seating, so I guess most of their business is takeout.

Friendly service and great value for how much food you get! I always order the vegetarian combo. They also have a small grocery selection of ingredients like tahini, rose water, baklava, and more.

Was not impressed with the Falafel or chicken. Very average and not authentic Egyptian middle eastern taste or flavors. True falafel is not made with chick pease but with split fava beans. Not some place I would go a second time.

This place is great, it’s always tasty with generous portions. When people visit me and want a quick bite, this is my go to. I’ve seen some people dock points for raising prices, but that’s just how it is right now. It’s still great quality and portions for the price!

Best chicken soup I've ever had in my life, I don't know how they do it but it's so flavorful and delicious. Everything else I've gotten has been great too but that SOUP oh my GOD

So good! My wife and I loved it. We got 2 lamb shawerma sandwiches. Excellent! We also got the rice and lentils as a side dish and it was also very good. We ordered the large and we couldn't finish it. This is a small, little (yeah, I know, it's redundant) place we stumbled upon. What a great find. There is seating for about 8 people total.

I’ve been going here for years. Amazing food, quickly made, and so filling. Honestly all of their food options are tasty, and I recommend this to all my friends.

The food is really good and affordable, the falafel was especially the best I’ve had, BUT they messed up my order. I got the falafel sandwich and Meat Combo plate but they gave me a Chicken Schwarma plate and still charged me for the full price. Had to call multiple times to get ahold of someone and communicate how they can fix this mishap. Food is still great!

Really fast and tasty middle Eastern. Falafel made fresh and it's tasty. They also have a salad bar. Plus they have a selection of filled breads and many are vegetarian. This and Falafel&Grill are my go to places.

Food quality has gone down since I last visited this establishment. I used to come here a lot but after this past experience I don't think I'll return. First of all, as I mentioned already the overall food quality has gone down-I don't know if they have a new cook but it just wasn't the same freshness they had before. Also the guy at the register has very poor customer service skills. I asked him for a cup so I can fill water and he barely acknowledged me, when he finally did it was in a very rude way. He was blunt and said no then he look down at his phone again.

This place has really gone downhill the past year. I always looked forward to the Jerusalem salad in my sandwich but they recently removed it, while raising the prices on the sandwiches they offer. Today, I placed my order through the Ritual app and I was a good 5 minutes away. When I arrived, the place was practically empty. I told the lady in the front that I ordered online and that I was expecting my order already. She told me it wasn't ready and that they get a ton of online orders so there's always a wait. I looked around and the place looked dead and the guy wasn't busy making orders. Then the guy saw the only slip of paper printed out with my order and did my order right away. So much for them getting a ton of orders. When I arrived home, I noticed that there was no tomatoes in my sandwich while there was a ton of onions. The other times I've ordered recently they've put a ton of onion to the point where it is disgusting. I will never come back to this place. I know I can get better food somewhere else. Lost a longtime customer. Also, update the menu on the Ritual app. It still says that the sandwiches contain Jerusalem salad when they actually don't.

Such good, fresh food that is quick and well-priced. Very filling portions and happy every time! Spicy falafel sandwich in this photo
