It is beyond discouraging to see this hospital’s incredible decline. I posted a negative review 2 months ago. It posted for 30 minutes and was then removed. I was later told I need to be a stronger advocate for myself. Allow me to advocate. Advent Hinsdale now appears to be an exact replica of what was once Cook County; an ER Being used as a primary care office, FILLED with non-emergency cases, patients are no longer prioritized, but instead ‘first come, first served’, contracted, disinterested nurses are in abundance, as the Advent nurses stand out in skill and patient care. Hinsdale Advent- wake up! Put standards back in place. Contracted nurses won’t be as in demand if you offer Advent nurses the salaries they deserve. I have had multiple surgeries and hospital stays in the past. This most recent ER visit left me feeling unsafe. Do you now care so little that a patient feeling unsafe is no longer concerning? I relayed my experience in great detail to a patient liaison who was to escalate my concerns. I haven’t received any follow up communication. If to assure that I receive quality patient care, I first have to call your ER and ask which doctors are on call as well as if I will have a good chance of being treated by Advent nurses, pretty much defeats the purpose of an ER, doesn’t it? Others have told me that being on the floor is even worse. I can’t even imagine, as my experience was horrifying enough! One last note- when a patient has an extensive medical and surgical history, it stands to reason she may actually know something. Listen to your patients. Lay on one of your beds and read the mission statements that scroll endlessly across the computer screens. Maybe after you’ve been waiting endlessly to be attended, you’ll believe some of the rhetoric. OR…LISTEN!! Above all, go back to the standards the Hospital once demonstrated on a consistent basis.

My husband & I could not be any happier with the whole Labor & Delivery staff. I delivered 3 months ago and my experience as a first time mom was amazing. Due to some complications during my pregnancy I had to be induced. The whole staff made me feel comfortable, secure and calmed me down when the time came. Communication was great. Rooms were very spacious and clean. I also had to take my dad to the ER and he was admitted within 10 minutes. During his 3-day stay he said all the nurses and doctors were very nice constantly checking in on him. As a spanish speaker only, he said he was provided a translator when my siblings and I weren’t around to translate. 100% recommend.

My first L&D nurse was fantastic, Katie was her name. My second nurse, who I cannot remember her name, she had surgery last year I know Because she told us, was a horrible person. I clearly stated multiple times I did not want an epidural. Every.single.contraction, this woman came in yelling asking if I wanted an epidural yet. My husband and doula were getting annoyed with her. This lady also began complaining how she wasn’t even supposed to be working and she’s usually a night nurse and was on call and got called in due to short staff and too many births. And her “poor dog is probably wondering where she is”. She then proceeded to yank my monitors constantly asking me to stop moving (as I’m laboring) ya…right. The final straw was her ARGUING AND YELLING at another nurse IN my room, as I’m laboring. This lady ruined my laboring. Thankfully she only worked until 3 and I delivered At 6.

I brought my 2 year old daughter to the ER after she had already tested positive for RSV 4 days prior due to her horrendous cough and reoccurring fever, since we couldn't get in to see her Pediatrician. After waiting for 4 hours, we were seen by a PA. I demanded a chest x-ray since he wanted to know what I was looking for.....seriously? I asked the Nurse why didn't she or the PA check her ears when she has RSV and a lot of mucous/nasal drainage. She told me that toddlers will let us know if their ears hurt. They'll be tugging on them constantly. She said there wasn't a need so they weren't going to check them, even though I asked. Plus I kept getting told they were short staffed.... Needless to say, I followed up with her Pediatrician, and my daughter now had a double ear infection, which they could have given her medication for had they bothered to look and give a thorough exam. The Pediatrician was appalled that not only did they not check her ears, but that they didn't prescribe ANYTHING for her, after being told she had a persistent fever for 7 days. Fortunately, she is on the mend after being prescribed 2 medications from her Pediatrician. We will never go back to this ER. It seems short staffed equates to compromised, negligent care.

It is 11:08pm on Oct 30, 2023. My dad was transferred from urgent care to this ER at 6:40pm because of his dizziness and vomiting symptoms. More than four hours passed, and my dad still doesn’t have a chance to see the doctor. They want to keep my dad, a 80 yrs old senior stay over night? If that causes any other issue to him, I will definitely sue this hospital. It is 11:44pm, Oct 30, 2023, five hrs has passed. My 80 yrs old dad is still at the waiting room. I wish I could give this ER negative score; Another hour has passed, it is 0:50 am Oct 31, 2023. We are still in the waiting room, 6 hrs already, ridiculous! It is 1:17AM, Oct 31,2023. My dad cannot stay up late. He wants to leave, but there is IV tube in his arm, and no one comes to help unplug the tube! It is 2AM , Oct 31, 2023. Finally we can leave. And we will change a hospital.

I cannot say enough about how great my experience has been. From housekeeping and food services to the medical staff, everyone has been professional, caring and kind. As a nurse myself, I am highly impressed by the level of care I have received here. Shout out to the L&D, Mom & Baby, and NICU staff. My ONLY complaint: the room couches for guests (i.e. mom's much needed partner postpartum) are not sufficient and do a great disservice to new families.

I went to the ER tonight because i wasn't feeling good. when i was there with my mom, my mom and i both needed to be seen because we didn't feel good. the doctor asked me my symptoms walked out of the room and then came back in and said i have a cold this was within 5-10 minutes. on top of all this she didn't even examine me or my mother. she doesn't care about her patients and has a cocky attitude. when the nurse came in to discharge me and we said she didn't exam my mother or I and dismissing what is wrong with me as a cold the nurse looked at us and said "i'm so sorry. i feel so bad. do you want me to get her back in here" granted this wasn't the nurses fault at all. out of all the years of going here i have never been so angry with this place before and neither has my mother. i've always had great experiences until tonight and this makes me never wanna go back there. i don't know what has happened to the hiring of doctors but this doctor shouldn't be a doctor let alone have a medical license. she has terrible bedside manner and doesn't do her job right including not examining her patients. they need to do something about their doctors starting with this one. it doesn't help that when i was walking out i seen her laughing with other staff. if that's what she is so concerned about she should do that somewhere else. but she was to concerned with that, that she couldn't take care of her patients. and on top of all this we were told that she was a new doctor to the hospital. no doctor should be like this let alone a new doctor. especially if your an ER doctor.

Overall experience was good but everything worked at a snail’s pace. Communication was poor between disciplines and with me and my husband The ENT doctor ordered equipment to do a bedside endoscopy the night I was admitted but it wasn’t there when he came to see me at 2pm the next afternoon. I was going to be discharged with no pain medication and had to request it. I was given no dietary discharge guidelines in spite of having stitches in my throat. I had to call the doctor’s office the next morning to get guidelines. It took 6 attempts by 2 nurses in the ER to get an IV in. While inpatient the IV became blocked. The traveling nurse left the non working IV in me for 4 hours because she “didn’t know” it was her responsibility to replace it. I was on a no food or liquid diet so the IV was my only source for hydration. She had to be shown by a lab employee how to do the IV. Where I have used Hinsdale hospital for outpatient testing, I have great reservations about ever using it again for inpatient care. In spite of all of this, employees were kind and pleasant.

Went in on a Saturday night about 11PM. There was a girl in the lobby yelling and talking about who she stabbed last weekend. Just listening to that gave me a panic attack. I should have left then, but decided to stay. My nurse - and the other nurses who helped me - amazing! Dr. B*** was another story. He first came into the room with a dirty mask hanging under his nose. He tried to come up with a few different diagnosis to try to get me to stay and be admitted. He failed doing a procedure that any ER doctor should be able to perform. He prescribed medication that was high risk with a black box warning without properly counseling me on it. He was prescribing OTC medication that I had to stand up and say that I didn't need. If you visit this ER, be prepared to be your own advocate and ask for a different Dr. and know what they are doing. He called me after my visit at 11PM on Monday night after I met with my own Dr. to properly take care of my medical needs. Great that he followed up, but I was finally asleep after my ER trauma. I followed up with my own Dr. who took care of my needs at which time I learned that the ER Dr. misdiagosed me which made me panic even more. If you can get to another hospital, don't go here. The best part? I was asked for my insurance co-pay on my way out the door after being in the ER for seven hours.

Beautiful experience as father having the second baby. My wife had the best treatment ever and we are very happy and very thankful for everything. I must say that the night time nurse during the delivery was so polite and so sweet, her name is Dominique and also i wanna mention Shannon ( midwife) who showed huge professionalism and unlimited amount of positive energy. Thanks again for everything! We are coming back next year with baby number 3

ER waiting time for my Dad was very short, receptionist was very friendly, they take patients in depends on their health issue not by who ever comes in first which is a good thing. ER doctor was very busy that night and we waited a couple hours for him to go over the test results but overall a good experience. Also, I would like to give a five starts to our nurse JOSEPH (4102) who is taking very good care of my Dad right now, not just he is very polite and friendly but he also very knowledgeable and explain to me in detail all his symptoms, medicines and treatments. This guy definitely deserve an award, he goes above and beyond!!! Thank you so much Joe for your service, you really love serving the community the way every health worker should be.

I was admitted from 5/19/22-5/24/22 for my heart! When I tell you from the ER until I was discharged this hospital staff was absolutely amazing! The staff members are patient and very kind. I’m sure they are NOT paid enough for their above and beyond service! The only issue I had was the WAIT TIME! Not enough staff to get to you right away in case you have to wait on them for meds or help to the bathroom. Other than that…I was fine and again they FIXED ME!!!!!

The level of professionalism and patient care was shockingly low and I ended up canceling and electing to have both procedures done at an alternate facility. The day before, I had received a call from a technician giving details about the next day's appointment and after arriving at the hospital, the information was not the same. What was alarming was that 3 employees could not give any explanation.

My husband went to UChicago Cancer Center in Hinsdale for chemo and radiation treatment. My family and I cannot say enough good.things about the wonderful care he received. Every person working there was kind, caring and had a positive attitude. They were more than happy to answer.or explain any questions we had and did it always with a smile on their face. The doctors kept us updated weekly on my husbands blood tests and the nurses explained each step during the chemo treatment. We went there daily for 5 1/2 weeks and my husban RANG THE BELL in the chemo department and radiation department on the last day of treatment. We had gotten to the point of feeling like these wonderful people were almost extended family. Leaving the last day was bitter sweet. We will always remember them ❤️ ♥️ .

Came here with my partner after some quick onset right lower quadrant pain. The whole operation from start to finish was high quality. The triage nurse started a line, drew labs and had us roomed within minutes. Our nurse was attentive and competent. The ER doc was personable and professional. The on-call surgeon was efficient and up-to-date on relevant literature and very open to discussing different plans of care. My partner stayed overnight and discharge was seamless — if a bit slow. Symptom management was legit high quality. I work in care management and have emergency department experience. I can’t say enough great things about this place. Sure, there were a few problems like with any human endeavor but 95/100. They went out of their way to include me in the conversation about aftercare and discharge planning. Thank god this place is no longer a part of Ascension. My partner might have gone septic or fallen out of bed or something.

Walked in with my 4week old with vomit, diarrhea and a light fever. Currently been sitting in the waiting room now for 3 hours. They have been seeing other walk in patients before him. They are giving my baby no regards. Really upsets me that my baby can’t say what’s wrong with him so they could care less. Never bringing him here again!!!!

I’ve always had good experience with my routine outpatient procedure and this time was the same. Dr. Lee and his team were excellent. I was in at 7:15 am, the procedure was at 7:57 instead of 8:15 am, I was home at 9:30 am. No residual issues, Dr Lee met with me before I went home to tell me the initial outcome of my procedure and I’m just waiting for final lab report. Grateful!

Incredibly short staffed. Nurses were excellent, Dr. Kelly was kind, compassionate and communicative. Not so the other doctors on his case. ER was overwhelmed, many people didn’t need that level of care. Better triage is needed.

I have always loved visiting this clinic. I have come to this cancer clinic for the last 5 years. I appreciate the attention to my mammogram concerns and help in answering any questions or concerns that I have. The attached photos are of my recent visit to the clinic. I am always happy with the care that the technicians and the whole team provides.

Everything was perfect! The nurses and assistants were all so kind, caring, and helpful. They walked us through everything. Everyone from the fantastic birth case manager Tara who helped explain the birth certificate and social security number process to Sue the lactation consultant and the kindest massage therapist for a post partum massage. Lindsay and Ashley RNs got us primed for labor and Maggie RN got us through the hardest of centimeters and Keri RN my first breast feedings post partum. Dr Murrey got me ready to hand off to Dr Rodriguez the best, best OB in Illinois! Love to both of them! My wish to not have an epidural was respected despite my screams. Ha! I was coached and encouraged throughout the whole delivery. Special care was taken to ensure I didn't have any complications pushing. I can't say enough nice things! EVS kept the room clean and food services always called us to remind us to order food when we were too sleepy to remember! Thank you everyone! If we are lucky enough to have another child... we'll be back! Erica, St Aubyn, and Baby St Leo

Advent health hinsdale always does an amazing job! I am so happy with their service and how they treated my daughter. They made my daughter a priority after coming in with RSV and not doing too well. They made the transfer from advent health to advocate Lutheran children’s hospital super easy and fast to get my daughter the appropriate care she needed. All the doctors and nurses that took care of us last night were amazing. I wish i would’ve remembered all their names but this mama was too worried about my baby. Thank you advent health hinsdale you guys are amazing and we will continue our care with you guys! Amazing ER team!

I brought my mom to the ER for sudden onset dizziness. We couldn't get into an ER room for 6 hours, even though my mom couldn't even sit up because she was so ill. We finally got a room, and we waited and waited for a CT scan. I finally called the nurse to see if my mom could have some water. She said, "not until after the scan. Want me to take you now?" What were we waiting for??? Finally, a doctor came in and for the first time offered my mom medicine for the dizziness. It took two hours and asking multiple times to receive it. After 6 hours of being in the room, she was finally admitted. She was put in the cardiology unit and we weren't told why, so she was really scared. Her nurses said they would check on her every hour, but I was there for multiple hours and no nurses checked on her. I had to ask for almost three hours to get her timed meds. One doctor said she had an ear infection and would be put on antibiotics. We never heard more about that, so I finally tracked down her nurses (which took at least another 30+ minutes of asking) and they said there was nothing in the notes about an ear infection or antibiotics. So I don't know why the doctor said that (I was there and taking notes, so it's not like my mom was relaying something to me incorrectly.) Luckily, she felt better and was released after a second night, and I'm so glad. It was not a good experience. Everyone raves about Hinsdale Hospital, so I hope this was a fluke.

My overall experience at the hospital was pretty good. Had a surgery last month with an overnight stay. The staff explained everything well, the place was clean, and the nurses made me feel comfortable. I saw different nurses almost every few hours, except for the overnight. All very caring. But just like everything, some people are more passionate about their jobs than others.

I am a frequent visitor of Dr. Tubic/Chicagoland Pain Management. He is a fantastic doctor, but is also extremely busy, meaning they’re times where I feel frustrated at the inability to re-evaluate my evolving back pain. That said, my actual complaint is about the post operation care I received during the most recent visit. I have undergone dozens of procedures with Dr. Tubic and they always involve anesthesia. The post process usually goes as followed: I begin to wake up, I am given water and gram crackers, when I can eventually sit upright they take out my IV and give me time to change back into my clothes, when feeling like I could probably walk they then wheelchair me out to my ride. This usually moves smoothly, but for some reasons the staff decided (on a less crowded day than usual) too do a speed run challenge with me. This time: I was forcefully woken and raised up, only had 1 small sip of water before they took it and my untouched crackers away, forcefully dressed, ignored when trying to explain some unusual/unique symptoms of headaches, ear pain, aching throat, and sudden nasal congestion. I was dismissed by being plopped in a wheel chair and sent out, all around under 10 minutes. To me this is appalling! On top of that, after waiting over an hour in the prep room with an IV in my hand, you would think there would be some common decency on the other end regardless of the careless medical decisions.

The attention was increible. All the staff from doctors, nurses and every worker and volunteer at the hospital show inmense care and dedication and go the extra mile to provide the finest care and attention to their patients, even the Chaplain. My mom had a complicated surgery and was treated there and we felt so well attended and so well cared that it helped a lot in her positive recovery.

Very pleased with the therapy I’m receiving here. In just a few weeks, I’m feeling hopeful about regaining the full use of my [dominant] hand. It’s been several years since the accident, and (as an artist) I’d nearly run out of hope. It’s no understatement to say this place has already changed my life.

Our experience was so positive! From the point when we checked in, we felt listened to and cared for. The medical staff was forthcoming with information and options to help us make informed decisions over the course of delivering our baby. I found the nurses to be incredibly compassionate, friendly, and professional. Upon transferring to the Mother & Baby unit, we encountered a much broader team - and each person was as friendly and helpful as the next. Our nurses were wonderful and the non-clinical staff were also so professional and kind. We had such a great experience!

My 87 year old dad was admitted with pneumonia. Everyone was so kind and patient. The nurses and care techs were very attentive and worked hard to make him comfortable. They showed compassion to him as if he was their dad. The doctors took the time to explain everything and made sure we understood what was happening and were part of the decisions being made. I am very grateful to everyone there from the receptionist who took our information to the care tech that wheeled dad out to the car. Thank you.

It’s a well put together hospital with nice and understanding staff. I particularly got an MRI done at this location and the radiologist was fantastic. My only issue is that if you need your results sent to your primary care doctor it takes longer than expected. They don’t send results right away. It’s take a few days for them to read the results and fax them over which I was unaware of. I will say though that the lady who answers the phone when you call about records is extremely sweet and tries her best to get your results to your physician as soon as possible. The long wait for results is really the only “bad thing.”

The services received were excellent, specially the one received from Dr. Erika Havelka. The problem, however, is the time spent in the waiting room. I spent at least 6 hours sitting on a wheelchair, all by myself in the ER. I didn’t go there because I wanted, but as recommended by my GP.

I brought my daughter here and after spending a full day mostly waiting and the doctors ordering unrelated tests that had little to do with her symptoms, she was released with a partial diagnosis and nothing but OTC meds for her pain which was the most concerning aspect of her condition. We are back in the ER at the main UCMC on campus and it is confirmed all the wrong tests were run. While the staff was very sensitive to her pain and very kind, they missed the mark on taking her targeted pain seriously to her diagnostic process.

I was at advent health for a scheduled c-section. The pre-op nurses were very nice, but both seemed like they didn't know how to use the computer system, which made me worried about mistakes. The anesthesiologist was very friendly, informative, and explained every part of the procedure before hand and during, which helped put me at ease. The maternity ward had very friendly nurses as well. They answered all of my questions well and were willing to help me with anything I needed. My obstetrician, Dr Akhtar, was the worst part. She has terrible bedside manner, doesn't take the patient's preferences into consideration, her office seems very unorganized, and I can't say enough negative things about my experience with her. Definitely do not recommend Dr Akhtar!

Excellent doctors and stuff. Just have my outpatient orthopedic hand surgery. It was my 3 rd surgery on my hands and have to be admitted to have at least painful hand surgery so far. I am full of hope for recovery. Highly recommend Dr. Lea Urbanosky.

Extreme lack of concern and care by the ER Dr and staff. I was not examined for the symptoms that I had. I filed a formal complaint with the hospital earlier today and will add more to this review once I have heard back from them. I highly recommend to NOT visit Hinsdale Hospital for medical reasons if you value your health. UPDATE: NOVEMBER 6, 2023 I have not received any communication from my complaint. I've left 2 additional voicemails as well. They know they are incompetent.

Very timely and the women at the front desk were very nice, better than a previous appt. The woman who took the mammogram was excellent. Very friendly, professional and quick. I wish I could remember her name so you could give her kudos.

The young man that took care of me at the Lab registration was wonderful! My U of C Hosp. Blood draw order was not on the system yet although I was told it would be. This young jumped through a bunch of hoops, tracked down the U of C nurse and had the order fax’d. He went above and beyond to make my time and trip fruitful. You don’t see that often these days. I appreciate it very much. I wish I had written down his name.

Its was an amazing experience!!! All the staff was great. Dr. Gomez was great. The nurses were all so nice. Bridget (3rd shift) and Anne ( She has more than 40 years experience and was on 1st shift) . My new born son was treated very nicely. My husband and I are very pleased.

I felt so well taken care of by everyone and I was particularly impressed with how thorough their infection control protocols are. There have been significant improvements to this hospitals efficiency since the last time we had to use it. It has retained its lovely Christian environment which was important to me personally.

Very professional, communicative and caring staff. Explained the test that will be done and what to expect. I believe we are all a bit concerned when these tests are performed but this staff makes you feel at ease and more comfortable and before you know it it’s over.

From registration to the outpatient where I had a test taken. All staff members were extremely friendly and very professional. I was nervous about my test and they put my mind at ease. Hinsdale Hospital is the bomb. Lol

I had a wonderful experience at the hospital! I was there 5 nights total after my C-section and all the nurses and doctors were nice and helpful through the whole process. Thank you!

My appointment was greeted very friendly by the intake person which made me feel comfortable and at ease. I was kept aware every few minutes about my wait time (approx. 10 minutes) due to a new system being installed. The nurse who gave me my exam really explained in detail what the process consisted of and was very gentle during my exam. She answered any question I had as well. This truly was a very positive experience for me. Thanks to all involved!

A year ago I had my baby girl Jenny at this hospital. The staff were great especially Lindsay! She was new and she loves to help with delivering babies! Each delivery she would add a charm to her bracelet ❤️ We had a great time conversing and really helped me with my nerves at the time lol 😂 Someday I'll tell my babygirl about you Lindsey!

Have been going here for follow up appointments for several years and have always been very happy with the care I received. It’s a great facility and everyone is very caring. I couldn’t ask for more!

The staff was very professional and considerate. I give both my technicians a 5 out of 5 . My only complaint was the wait in between and it couldn’t be helped I am sure. I was taken early for one appointment and then had to wait 35 minutes for the next. Overall pleased

I needed bloodwork done and I was greeted at the front desk by a pleasant staff member who directed me cordially to Office #3. That staff member completed the necessary paperwork and sent me down the hall to get the blood drawn at the lab. After a brief wait, a pleasant phlebotomist drew the vials quickly and pain free!

I really like this hospital, been there a few times and everything was amazing! But last night…. I bring my son (2 months old) to the ER at 1 AM He had a fever of 101.5 and he was seen by the doctor. They should take his blood and urine. First, they took COVID swabs. Then we waited for two hours. Then the nurse Vanessa poked him twice in the vein and once in the heel and nothing (no blood). She tried to take his urine with a catheter and nothing again. No urine, no blood, she just gave him Tylenol for fever. Wow, amazing but that I could do at home. Plus, I asked her for a cup of water and I didn't get that either! 5 AM and we are still waiting here for some more capable nurses to try to get his blood. Another nurse came and after two pokes, they finally did it! Then we waited till 7 AM and finally went home with Tylenol as a therapy. Incredible.

My mom is scheduled to attend this hospital for her chemotherapy. We were there for six days straight, and most of the staff was excellent. One thing is that the food service in the afternoon is horrible. Every time we called, they had an attitude, and for two days, they didn't bring her food until 7:30ish. That was because we told the nurse we never got her dinner. We had called twice to follow up, and they had said it was on its way. It wasn't until we informed the nurse that they brought it up. I hope this doesn't happen to other patients. Luckily, I had food for my mom there.

😠 VERY DISAPPOINTED BY THE LACK OF TRANSPARENCY, INTEGRITY ,PROFESSIONALISM AND HONESTY. The mission statement could not be further from the truth !! There is no moral support to the family, you must be with your love ones from 8-8 to ensure they are cared for properly. RML is working hard to cover up...
