Horrible experience. Had an 12 week ultrasound and the technician refused to let my husband into the room. Throughout the process the technician lacked basic empathy. When I asked if she could see the baby she curtly replied "I will finish my protocol and then we can discuss at the end". She skeptically asked questions like if I was sure I hadn't had any bleeding, if I was sure of the date of my last menstrual period, and if I was sure that in the first ultrasound at 7 weeks I saw the baby. When she finally finished poking and prodding me for 45 minutes and announced that she could not see a heartbeat or the baby, this was communicated in such a clinical way without any sort of compassion. Then when I started to become upset, I was told that she cannot tell me anything, I would need to wait for the radiologist to review the scans and write a report and send to my OB and I should talk to my OB. She told me this would be done in 1 business day, and now it's 2 days later and my OB still has not yet received the report. This was my first pregnancy and very much wanted, and going to this ultrasound was a horrific and traumatic experience. This hospital seriously needs basic human empathy training. I will 100% not be returning and urge all expecting mothers not to do their ultrasounds here.

Nobody likes the hospital, but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate friendly and kind services! We have been going here for many years. I would have given them 5 stars because of how nice and professional the staff is, however the maternity ward where my wife delivered did not have functioning heat! We nearly froze to death. Both of us woke up sick! The nurses apologized and we left the hospital after 2 days. That’s the only bad experience we had here out of many visits.

The hard working staff of this hospital. It’s nasty I literally saw a kid vomit and they just pat up the vomit off the floor the cleaning lady walked passed me like 4 times just looking in the trash bags but won’t clean the food off the floor. Good luck washing ur hands in the bath room because the dispenser don’t work only one stall locks.

do not come here for an emergency. Every sector of this place is understaffed and overwhelmed. I waited 4 hours in the ER waiting room and another 3 hours after they put me in a room. Turns out i needed immediate surgery to remove my appendix. After getting out of surgery and spending the night, i was treated well by my morning shift nurses. By the evening, all treatment and attention stopped, the PCT wouldnt answer my calls from my room or come when I asked her to help me get up/clean myself, i didnt receive pain meds or antibiotics for hours, and I was discharged without ever being seen by a doctor or surgeon. The nurses couldnt answer any questions about my discharge or after care, and only prescribed over the counter tylenol because “ the doctor didnt know me personally” so he didn’t want to prescribe anything stronger. The nurse was rambling without giving any solid information, and she just repeatedly said shes overwhelmed, stressed, has other patients, and needed a moment to get herself together. She also said she was going to rip out my IV. I gladly went home because I felt more safe in the care of my home than I did in the hospital. sad. I dont ever leave reviews but i left this one in hopes people would avoid this hospital at all costs, especially during an emergency

If I could give ZERO stars I would!! The crisis worker (Olivia) along with some of the nurses on staff should all be ashamed of themselves!! My niece was rushed to this hospital, and the best that the nurses and crisis worker could do (instead of help and console my sister) was behave in a RACIST, DISCRIMINATING, and ILL mannered way. Not to mention, they asked my very young niece INAPROPRIATE questions while her mother was out of the room. THANK GOD my niece is old enough to speak her mind! We will be making several, formal complaints regarding this hospital, but especially those who we were in contact with!

Some of the nurses that were on staff yesterday, and the crisis worker Olivia should be fired. I had a traumatic experience with my young daughter and they were very rude to me. They asked my daughter inappropriate questions, and made her feel uncomfortable when I left the room. They displayed racist behavior and weren't reassuring or comforting in the slightest. The also sent DCFS to my home after assuring me that they had no safety concerns. They are untrustworthy and discriminate. I will never step foot in this hospital again. And I am filing a formal complaint against them.

My mother was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and she was at St mary's in the ICU for about 3 weeks. At 2 weeks in we met Lucio Zapata MD. He and the nurses were super understanding and caring. I am forever thankful for Dr Zapata for always calling every single day giving us an update on my mom. We understand it is hard times because of the pandemic. We were restricted visitation which broke our hearts but felt at ease knowing my mother had a great care team. Not everyone is fit to be a Dr or a nurse or a healthcare worker period and you can tell the whole ICU cares for their patients even though they might be short staffed and exhausted they were oh so polite answering all our questions or concerns. I'm super thankful for Dr Zapata and the whole ICU team. <3

This hospital has turned into what Cook County used to be: the waiting time for the emergency room is 12 hours, and the staff are rude when asking for an update! Is responded with an attitude, stating that there are people there from the day before that are still waiting and that if we can’t wait to come back the following day in the afternoon. A lot of the staff lack empathy, and never have I seen St. Mary with that many people at the emergency room sleeping either in the seats or on the floor.

I needed an outpatient X-ray and radiology and registration staff were excellent. There was a problem with my order (not the fault of the hospital) and I had to wait an hour for my doctor to send a new order. The staff were great about keeping me informed and worked to get my X-ray done the moment the order came through. I hope I don’t need their services again, but I’d gladly return if I do.

I enjoy coming to St.Mary’s for my primary care. Dr. Franco and his entire staff make you feel so valuable and important. The entire team is so personable and caring. I receive excellent customer service every time I receive any type of service from Amita Health Saints Mary. From the radiology department and or the emergency room. Thank you for making me feel appreciated as a patient.

I will never return to this hospital. They slam your religion if you are a Pagan. They know nothing about holistic medicine. They allow ☪️ doctors touch you and they slam Paganism. I have no respect for Abrahamic Religions that don't respect women and other Earth based religions. The nurses were rude. I went AMA and I didn't give the reason why. You wouldn't be able to handle the truth. It took until 2 AM on Tuesday Morning to get a bed; 6 hours to get the test results back; terrible food; Rotten doctors, rude nurses.

I’ve been sitting here since 2pm and it is now 8:45 and still hasn’t been treated for my asthma yet! I’ve been placed in the room in er just to continue to sit here after I’ve informed staff twice that I need an breathing treatment, still nothing. So how would they even know if my oxygen level has dropped/or I’m passed out if no one has even bothered to come in and attempt to check? This is definitely not how u do business and I see my the reviews is below average and to be honest it shouldn’t be at 2. I’m assuming I’m just here hanging around like I’m not sick🤷🏾‍♀️. This is not good at all. This hospital definitely needs some improvement as soon as possible.

Avoid like the plague. They use outside providers for services so you and your insurance will be hit with multiple bills (from hospital and provider) with very vague descriptions; quite obviously a double charge but you'll never find evidence of it as even the itemized billing they provide is a vague, 3 or 4 word description of the service provided. What's more the prices charged are ridiculous. 3 to 4 times the normal cost.

Was scheduled for a Cardiology Appt at 2:30, they literally called me at 2pm when I’m almost there to cancel my appointment because there was no nurse available to do my procedure. This was a huge inconvenience for me not only time wasted my husband had to take a half day off to be with my daughter and to pick up my kids from school. I understand that things happen but really to cancel when I’m almost there and to not even try to help me. The rep (I wish I got his name) pretty much blamed central scheduling & says it happens all the time & that it wasn’t his job to call he did it on his own. He also stated that there was no supervisor or manager in his department so zero help for a patient who’s day you just inconvenienced & also who’s battling health issues. If it wasn’t for my dr being affiliated here I would never come back. I left a message for the central scheduling manager & I’m hoping this doesn’t happen to anyone else in the future.

Wait times are insanely long, very minimal communication, put me in a private room without consent when my insurance does not cover and billed saying I consented. Neither my insurance nor myself can get in contact with the billing department to rectify this. Do not recommend this hospital. Very shady billing practices.

Uncle was transferred to Saint Mary last night 3/23rd and we had a terrible experience with the nurses. They were all extremely rude and always ignored our needs and would always respond with attitude. I found it really unprofessional and upsetting. This is my second bad experience with Saint Mary’s Nurses but there was one employee who made sure to bring us what we needed after I explained to her how our experience was going so far. She said she was new to Saint Mary’s under a program from school and I find it amazing that our new generation has more respect than our past one. Thank you to the employee who stayed kind through her Night Shift and didn't stop helping us all night.

I didn't feel safe in the hospital and felt that the information given was a risk. Fabricated a lot of situations in order to get away from the physicians in their diagnosis for a "solution". Rather they then prescribed tons of medication. Often very little time to explain leading to miscommunication. Get away from therapy/psychology programs as soon as possible. The nurse there is very rude one nurse almost got into a physical altercation. The cooperation is great but the individual within our outdated and lacks compassion.

They need more staff!!!!! The people who are here are EXCELLENT, but they are soooo overwhelmed that patients do have 2 wait for bathrooms, pain meds, IV's beeping. If they can remodel rooms, the can hire & pay more.

Do everything you can to stay away from this hospital. They should be sued for malpractice. My life was in danger countless times during my visit as I begged for someone to listen to me. I was literally told 'oh you'll be fine, just wait it out' as I was about to pass out.

My boyfriend was taken to the emergency room here by ambulance after I found him having a random seizure. While much of the staff in the emergency room was very helpful and kind to me (I have a panic disorder and was basically in shambles the whole time I was able to stay there, they were very comforting), my boyfriend has received continued disrespect from some of the doctors and nurses at this facility. He has untreated GI issues and when he met with a gastroenterologist (Sam Callisto Jr. I believe) he was barely paid attention to and the doctor seemed to brush off any concerns my boyfriend had about his health. Some of the nurses taking care of him were extremely helpful and caring, while others were rude, inattentive, and not communicative with me or my boyfriend’s family when we would call to check in on his condition. The nail in the coffin is that they lied to him about finding his insurance, and now every time we receive an astronomically large hospital bill my boyfriend has to call his insurance company to contact the hospital. Trying to make follow up appointments with the doctors here has also been next to impossible, as my boyfriend usually is put on hold for 10 minutes and then hung up on without actually getting to speak with anyone. Overall this facility feels unprofessional and dated, I would look elsewhere for dependable care. Giving more than one star becuase some of the nurses were genuinely very sweet and the food was surprisingly okay (for hospital food) according to my boyfriend.

Emergency room experience the last 2 times was ridiculous. Receptionist was asleep at the desk. I spent 8 hours there just for them to tell me nothing is wrong. I work in healthcare as well, and this made no sense to me. They dismissed my pain and abnormal lab results just because the ct came out negative… doctor was very rude when I asked about my abnormal lab results. I told them I cannot take nsaids due to health reasons— they assured me it was in my chart that no nsaids should be given to me. Why did the dr just prescribe me an nsaid?? So irresponsible. For my health and safety, I will not return to this hospital.

I took my 5 week old son to the ER because he was not drinking his formula and had a fever. I waited 4 hours to be admitted and spent 15 hours at the hospital until they figured out they could not help my newborn. The male Doctor and Nurse Mina kept explained to me “I know it seems like we are not doing anything, but we are actually really busy”, and the Doctor stated that my son doesn’t have a record in the hospital of a fever, so they were ready to release me. Mind you, they NEVER checked his temperature!!! They checked 8 hours later after drawing blood from him after the 3rd attempt and trying to do a spinal tap 6 times! After all of that, I was then transferred over to Lurie’s, and it wasn’t even the initial doctor on duty! He was never seen after I shared my frustration. I then reached out providing feedback to the hospital and requested to be contacted. It’s been 5 months… Lurie’s did what St Marys couldnt, they took his vital, spinal tap and urine sample within 1.5 hour and on the first try for everything. They were also so comforting and shared/expressed the same concerns I did.

Update: I emailed the person who sent the response below and they provided absolutely no assistance. They just want it to look like they care. If you come here you are on your own to figure out if your doctor is a hospital employee or not and they will bill you for everything they possibly can. Original review: They double billed me for services even though they are in network. They use an outside physician (not that I had any choice in the matter) and then billed me twice, once for the doctor's typical copay and then a $474 "clinic visit" fee. It was just a quick check in with the doctor! No labs or anything! This is a crass money grab at the expense of vulnerable patients. I get my other care from Northshore University Health System and have never had this problem. AVOID!!!

My OBGYN is great!! However i was sent to radiology for ultrasound. The male tech was the worst-lacked common courtesy & respect, he didn’t communicate anything & offended me with smart remarks questioning. After speaking with my provider about this incident,I filed a grievance. I received 1 follow-up, which i told her i didn’t think was appropriate nor satisfied with their response, as she dismissed my feelings/experience. Lack of accountability along with the worst service i have ever received. I was told another supervisor would be contacting me. It’s been almost 2 months and still no follow-up. They sent me a bill for a service i was not satisfied with, faster than they can followup with a complaint. What’s sad is i really liked my OB, since she doesn’t practice anywhere else. I will no longer be going to her, just to avoid their radiology department. Definitely a traumatic experience in which I will never go back for any services. - From A Disappointed employee

My experience with his hospital was not very pleasant. I never able to communicate directly with his doctor even when a sign consent to do so was in place. I was given information through third parties and the information provided was very limited. As parent of a young adult who is not able to make good decisions about his care, I felt very frustrated during his hospitalization period.

Glad my dad is being taken to another hospital for treatment. He was here for three days and let me tell you, it’ll be the last time I bring any of my family members here. At night, the nurses ignored my fathers requests. He’s a stroke victim suffering from headaches and extremely high blood pressure and they really seemed to not care. Danota, a nurse on the 8th floor, was horrible. She needs a bedside manners course. Tonight is his last night here and if it wasn’t because my mom and I are waiting with him for transport currently at 10:18PM, there is no way in hell anyone would know this is happening. We have called the nurse 4 times, once over the intercom and 3 times in person, and they all state the same “We will be there soon”. Discharge papers were given to him WAY before transport so it seems like they don’t want to give him any pain meds for headache because technically, he isn’t here. Don’t waste your time. Go to Masonic.

Absolutely EXCEPTIONAL care. My brother had a cardiac ablation done here. His RN Yolanda (Yoli) went above and beyond every time to make sure he was cared for. Dinner, comfort, medication she was like a guardian Angel. Not only to him. As I walked in and out I overheard her with other patients. Consistently caring —something that is just not common these days. The hospital was super clean and Dr. Mehta the cardiology surgeon was absolutely wonderful. What a wonderful surprise/BLESSING!!!! I was so pleasantly and gratefully surprised. Thank you so much Yoli 🙏. May God bless you trifold!!!

Most CARING, PROFESSIONAL, KIND Staff Ever!! Best Hospital in Chicago. These people literally Saved My Life (and didn't stop there). They truly helped me in so many ways and they gave me a new lease on life. I owe them my life. Everyone from the folks cleaning up to the doctors are caring and sweet. Even the lady who cleaned my room was so concerned that I hadn't eaten breakfast, that she went and brought me cereal, just in case I got hungry (cuz I "needed my strength to get well"). They are amazing & go above & beyond in every way.

Generally CARING, PROFESSIONAL, KIND Staff Ever!! Best Hospital in Chicago. These individuals in a real sense Saved My Life (and didn't stop there). They genuinely helped me from numerous points of view and they gave me a renewed purpose for getting up in the morning. I owe them my life. Everybody from the people tidying up to the specialists are mindful and sweet. Indeed, even the woman who tidied up my room was worried to such an extent that I hadn't had breakfast, that she proceeded to bring me cereal, simply on the off chance that I got eager (cuz I "required my solidarity to recover"). They are astonishing and go above and past inside and out.

I had a CT scan performed on January 20, 2023, yet my doctor's office still awaits the results as of today, April 3. My doctor's office and I have left repeated voicemails for the medical records department and radiology department requesting this information. Yet, we are still waiting for someone to return our calls. But they are fine sending me a bill for over $1,000 for a service I have yet to receive results for. I pray the tests do not show something serious because if they do, the negligence falls directly on this hospital. Hoping this review sparks some action on their end. At this point, there's nothing more I can do. 4/11 - I called the number provided and left two voicemails - still have not heard back from anyone. Unacceptable.

I have received medical attention including a variety of procedures at this location for most of my life living on the near northwest side of Chicago. I have always felt welcome, and the level of care is in my opinion above average. What makes this hospital so special is that it caters primarily to the people living in the surrounding neighborhood.

Awful experience. Specifically, the OB/GYN staff misrepresented themselves by claiming on ZocDoc that they could do birth control. Upon arrival they revealed that they refused because they were a Catholic organization. They failed to make eye contact with me, and all I was able to leave with was a sticky note with two random numbers on it that they wrote so quickly I doubt they even checked my insurance would work there. I don’t understand how religion has any place in medicine. If it does, it should be the religion of the patient and not the religion of the staff. What was the point of studying medicine if they were going to make their decisions based on their own religion? Waste of time. Waste of co-pay. The entire experience makes me feel like garbage. Don’t go there.

Avoid this place like the plague. They are clearly overworked and the patients pay the price. They lost my paperwork multiple times and as a result I had to leave twice after attempting to get service. Then, when I did get service, I was over billed $400 and was told that I won’t get a refund until more than 2 months after the incorrect charge. Please don’t pay these scammers upfront if you have insurance and can avoid it. This place feels unsafe and I will never return.

Does anyone work here? I came for an appointment and saw no employees besides a security guard who didn’t know where anything was. Wandered around for 10 mins before I found a nurse who escorted me to a waiting room (not her job, where are the receptionists?). Then sat there for an hour because they forgot about my. Months later I start getting automated calls, but never receive a bill. Their phone system routes you in á continuous loop, never letting you speak to a human. Eventually I clicked “I’m calling from an insurance company” just to get a human being on the line to pay my bill. The definition of budget cuts. This hospital is a mess

I resist visiting hospitals because I know they overworked, especially since COVID. But after a cat attack, I had to be admitted. I was surprised that although they were slammed, the staff were beyond friendly. Dr. Jack in the ER is super sweet and 😍! The staff on the 10th floor were also very welcoming and checked on me regularly. I felt like I was in a hotel! Special thanks to Se, Arielle, Virginia, and Dr. Seyd for taking care of me in my time of need. 🙏

STAY FAR AWAY. I would give 0 stars if I could the emergency department is an absolute joke. This hospital gets worse and worse as time passes. If you want to spend 8+ plus hours in the waiting room this is the place for you. If you want to be ignored and passed over this hospital has your name on it. There are plenty of better hospitals in the Chicagoland area I suggest you take the drive and find a better hospital. I haven't had a good experience at this hospital in my life. ANY 5 STAR REVIEWS FOR THIS HOSPITAL ARE FAKE
