The staff was very nice. My daughter needs help. They started her monday in a program. I continuously asked how much. I wasn't made aware until after her first day. After insurance it was $133 per day plus deductible. I was told I had to pay weekly. I'm far from rich and I don't live off the state. I was expected to pay 5 mortgages worth a month to get my child the help she needs. Mid class gets screwed again. I told my daughter and she said she feels like everyone is giving up on her. I held her last night while she sobbed all night. Everything in this country has doubled and even tripled in cost. But we make too much? Even if I was completely out of debt, I wouldn't be able to afford what they are asking. I was told "sorry it didn't work out but if you I think she is going to hurt herself go to the hospital" Covid and the government did this to my child. This is criminal!!! I'm very sad and disgusted. Also at the beginning I was told " no worries we have programs and help for the financial part." Obviously, not true. I don't ever do reviews but this one is necessary.

Horrible experience! I brought my daughter for evaluation due to eating disorder and anxiety. We spent 4 hours there overall (30 minutes of which we spent talking with 2 people, all the rest of the time was just waiting). While waiting for Dr. recommendations, my daughter started panicking that it was late and her routine was broken. I tried to talk to the lady in the office, who appeared to be the supervisor, and she told me that we either wait or if we leave, it will mean that we decline the recommendations. I said that we don't want to decline and we will wait. As a response, she just banged the door in front of my face not saying anything. My teenage daughter is sitting there crying, I am 38 weeks pregnant, and that's all we got, not even a bit of empathy. As a result, they told me that her weight was very low and the diagnosis was "eating disorder " and "anxiety " - thank you, I knew that myself. The only recommendation was inpatient hospitalization which I declined. I can only imagine what will happen to my daughter's mental health if they treat patients like that from the very beginning.

I made an appointment with the office for a mental health check and to get paperwork for the ADA due to my condition. Jennifer Ware acted professionally at first and asked me within minutes what brought me in. Despite knowing that a large source of my anxiety was due to a stressful work situation with being pushed into an unsafe office, she decided to spend the hour asking the most personal details of my life... only to then smirk at the end while saying that she won't sign the paperwork. She claimed that she "can't just sign that after meeting me only an hour ago", yet felt comfortable prescribing medication that carried side effects including self harm or violent aggression. I calmly explained that I was confused since her office stated that securing the paperwork wouldn't be a problem and she responded by telling me that I need to leave. Absolutely unimaginable that a worker in the mental health field would intentionally avoid telling me this at the very start of our meeting. I can't help but feel that this is so they could bill my insurance company $550 for the one hour conversation that we had. The best part is that when I called to explain this to her manager, I then find out that Jennifer isn't even a doctor. This office and Mrs. Ware are a prime example of what is wrong with for-profit "health care".

My mother was just admitted here a few minutes ago. An employee named Genesis was assisting us with intake and assured me that Iā€™d be able to say goodbye to my mother before they took her upstairs to a room. She then told me go to the entrance to check if security was there to let me out as it was after hours. While I went to check, Genesis and the attendants proceeded to load my mother onto the elevator. My mother repeatedly called my name and I began to run back toward them. I shouted back numerous times that I was coming back. When I reached the elevator they all watched as the door closed. I waited for Genesis to come back down and asked her why she pulled such a dirty trick. She only offered an insincere ā€œIā€™m sorryā€ with no explanation. By that time a security guard became available to walk me out so Genesis just walked away. I am absolutely disgusted with the lack of compassion displayed by an employee of a facility that prides itself on its patient care. By her reaction, this seems to be common practice. It was already a stressful enough experience having to admit my mother. Genesisā€™ callousness only made matters worse. I now have very serious concerns about the character of the people Iā€™ve entrusted with my motherā€™s care.

My adult son was discharged from inpatient and dropped off at a hotel in Chicago late in the evening without any of the personal belongings I had brought to the hospital for him-he was dropped off with no glasses, contact lenses, no ID, no wallet, no phone. No winter coat - nothing!! He canā€™t even see! And the hotel had no rooms available! Hospital had to Uber the belongings to my son in the lobby - I can only hope it got to him and he found a place to stay A terrifying experience for a parent. Otherwise Case Manager was helpful and staff were fairly responsive.

Honestly it wasnā€™t bad! Ive been in the adolescent program 2 times and I think its great. All the staff is extremely nice and very helpful. Personally all the groups are decent some can be boring but itā€™s still worth paying attention. Food from the cafeteria is average i guess. Overall this Adolescent Program is pretty good :)

This place has saved my life several times so because of that I give them 4 stars. I give them 1 star on their response to this drawn out ridiculous pandemic, however. One month from now marks 3 years of this pandemic.... and there's still no outpatient services!?????? With all the forced isolation isn't this the time to be doing everything we possibly can for the mentally ill? I'd rather take my chances of getting sick while getting the help I need in order to function. Everyone knows online groups are just not the same. This sends the message that physical health is more important than mental health. Schools are back in session and things have reopened. I see no reason as to why you can't help those people that are not suicidal in person. I am extremely disappointed in whoever keeps making the decision to abandon 80% of those struggling with their mental health who need outpatient care. Get your priorities straight ABBHH.

It is sad today that hospitals are not better run with mental health issues. The food is good. The doctors are not caring they do not get back to you. Itā€™s just about loading up on the medication and not trying to figure out what the right medicine is and they donā€™t even do genetic testing right away Dr. was very rude to me and insulted when I asked questions and said, why donā€™t I go to somebody else, my child I am speaking for, but he is an adult and needed help and the doctor that was working with him never returned any of my calls. The hospital needs to hire better psychiatrist that care and know what they are doing to make patience well to live in society and not just discharge or improperly managing medicine.

My mom was recently hospitalized overnight at this hospital and the health care nurses were just horrible. Most of the overnight nurses didn't even bother checking up on my mom. They would be chatting away among each other. Left my mom's door open and she heard everything. My mom is elderly and can't understand how to order food and this one nurse got annoyed and mad at my mom for asking help. I was there visiting her and was surprised on how rudely they talked with patients. They obviously don't like there job. I would Not recommend this hospital. Horrible and rude service. Never seen this kind of attitude from a hospital.

I am writing this review with a heavy heart. One of my loved ones is receiving care at Amita Health and the experience has been so defeating. My loved one voluntarily went to the hospital for ideations. Within 24 hrs, he received a small med increase and has been considerably stable. It was also revealed that his medical record was incorrect and his symptoms were significantly exaggerated during intake at the ER. When informed of this and asked to change the record, the clinical team said they canā€™t do that and dismissed the request. This is hugely concerning because there was an independent witness to these statements during the intake process that confirmed my loved one did not report those symptoms. Nonetheless, the clinical staff continued to use the false information to keep my loved one hospitalized. The case manager told me they keep people for 5-7 days. He said there are drā€™s who do this regardless of the symptoms, meaning your loved one could be fine after a few days but they will keep them there without medical necessity. Patients have very little rights in a behavioral health facility, and Amita Health continues to disable people experiencing mental health issues. Instead of enabling them to be apart of their treatment like their mission statement dictates, they actually punish this with ambiguous information and no visibility into the treatment. Before this experience with Amita Health, I would never have believed a robust hospital like this would keep patients against their will, use falsified symptoms and neglect discharge. It is clear to me now that they need just to fill beds or they have significant organizational structure issues. Either way, my loved one will not return here. Ever. And I am disgusted.

I was sent to this facility against my will by my psychiatrist. I had much trepidation about this journey but much to my surprise the facility was clean, tidy, and every staff member treated me and the other patients with respect, dignity and compassion. I was on the adult ward. I wonder if some of the negative comments I read were about the adolescent ward. In any case, I found the food good, and varied. There was phone time three times a day in which the patients were able to receive or make phone calls. Cell phones were taken away from the patients. The phone calls are made at the nurses station. There were group therapy sessions 4-5 times a day except the weekends when visitiations were allowed by friends and family. Such visits are encouraged. I believe there is a visitation day allowed another day in the week also. But the patient could only have one day of the week for visits. There is also two day rooms with TVs and one with a small library. If your physician will let you, you may attend Gym/Garden day once a week when it is scheduled. They also have laundry facilities that you can sign up to use. Those are the pros - the cons: the bathrooms in the rooms have half doors with no way to lock. The toliets are so loud when flushed the whole ward can hear it. You cannot bring your own toilietries, you must use theirs. You have to ask to use a hair dryer and it has to be used at the nurses station - if they let you use it. Not all your personal belongings can be brought into the ward - anything that is stretchy cannot come on as it can be used to hang ones self. Nothing with strings attached. There are no hooks or rods on the ward. There are no plastic bags on the ward. We had to eat with plastic ware. You are encouraged to attend the group therapy as they take roll call. Your physician is aware if you are attending. That does go towards how long you stay in the hospital. Some groups are interesting; some not so much. You have to be in your room at 10:30 at night. There are NO TV's in your room. NO lamps on your night stands. There are no electrical plug ins in the patients rooms. Your bedroom doors have to be left open all the time so the nurses can do roll call every 10-15 minutes even at night. Each patient is fitted with an electronic wrist monitor so they can find you at anytime on the ward. Although I felt alot of my freedoms were taken away, everyone, while I was there, seemed to behave and some patients seemed to enjoy the camaraderie. Although I was angry that I got shanghaied into this place, I was ultimately relieved it was not a place out of "One Flew Out of the Cuckoo's Nest."

i wish i had better ways to explain this hell hole. i donā€™t. i was discharged TODAY. aside from a select 4-5 ā€˜counselorsā€™ (aka the staff who monitor you) this place was horrendous. my psychiatrist ā€˜Dr.ā€™ Raza (female) was so awful. she never listened. not to a single thing i said. she tried to keep me there even AFTER my mom requested for my release. she told me i was ā€˜completely unstableā€™ even when i was told by multiple people i was ready to discharge. there are a multitude of patients who are there for SI/SH. A few are there for HI (homicidal ideation). they will be roomed on the same floor. AND possibly in the same room. another issue with this place is that they admitted an individual during my stay that didnā€™t speak English. I speak a little and so did a few other kids on the unit. When we noticed that the staff was outright IGNORING THEM and avoiding answering them questions we started to communicate with them. some staff deliberately told me ā€˜donā€™t talk to itā€™. first off IT?? they werenā€™t an object. they proceeded to lock this poor child in the ā€œquiet roomā€. i would also like to note that they utilize ā€œbooty juicingā€ also called being sedated against your will. i know thatā€™s a way to stop any impulsive harmful behaviors but there are better and other ways. minus the select few staff i would easily give this place a 0/10. donā€™t go here unless you would love to be traumatized.

I was at Alexian Brothers in june of 2021. I am a health care professional with experience in a mental health setting. I went to alexian brothers because I knew to reach out for help in the condition I was in. When meeting with Dr Wood, I immediately knew he was not the type of dr who should be practicing in mental health. Our first meeting was less than 10 minutes (which he stated to my parents we met for 30 min!) And when I asked what the goal was for next meeting or what it would consist of, he just repeated that he would see me soon to check in. As a patient, I wanted to know what the plan was for my stay in the facility. Dr was upset that I advocated for my care and wanted my parents involved because I felt VERY uncomfortable. He was extremely rude to my parents over the phone and refused to call them during my appointment with him. (He told my parents that he contacted them on his drive home) In our last meeting, after telling Dr Wood I would prefer to be at a residential facility and did not feel that alexian brothers was the best care for me, Dr Wood had a hostile tone throughout meeting and had said to me "I need to make sure ur not going home and kill yourself" In that meeting, I asked that the charge nurse be present because I did not trust this doctor, and she witnessed this as well. Had I not already been in the health profession, my experience with this doctor would immediately turn me off to receiving help again. I spoke with hospital regarding matter, however I dont know if they spoke w the dr himself. I was not going to write about him but after seeing how he treated other patients, especially that he threatened me that he could get a court order if I wanted to leave without his "ok". LUCKILY, I was able to advocate for myself bc I know about healthcare and I had a great support system helping me! But theres people out there who cant do the same... Beside Dr wood, the nurses and counselors were fantastic. They were the reason I felt safe. THANK YOU to the professionals who treat patients like people. If you have a bad experience with a doctor, YOU DESERVE BETTER. Please continue to get help!!!

I recently went here on 3/14/23 for an evaluation for adult PHP. Upon initial evaluation I started seeing red flags. I stated several times I wanted to be assessed for depression and anxiety with symptoms of PTSD and immediately was asked ā€œwell are you suicidalā€ I once again assured the staff I was not suicidal. The following Friday 3/23 I go in to start orientation for php and Iā€™m forced into saying on a therapeutic safety plan that I display suicidal behaviors when triggered when I had state several times I was not suicidal. After several wasted minutes of going back and forth I was asked to sit in a room by myself for well over 20 minutes bc I CRIED to be told I needed to be reassessed bc of ā€œintense emotions that may require a higher level of careā€ I once again stated still advocating for myself I do not need inpatient treatment. This whole experience from 3/23-3/28-23 has been completely mentally draining and triggering. If you donā€™t want to be manipulated into saying youā€™re suicidal when youā€™re not DONT STOP AT GO AT THIS HOSPITAL. Sierra and Mike made me feel utterly mentally unsafe and uncomfortable. I will be making a complaint with Administration

I went here about a month ago in the inpatient adolescent unit and personally I had a decent experience, indeed it took a while to get registered and I didnā€™t get to my room until the early morning but they let me sleep later which was nice. The staff were great and the counselors were friendly and stern when needed to. They had a fair selection of food and even gave snacks occasionally. Even had movie nights on the weekend. Because of short staff there were many times when we had to wait in our rooms for the next activity which was rather boring and a lot of waiting, but all in all there was nothing awful about this place and I would recommend it for someone who needed urgent help.

I was in the program for mothers with postpartum depression it was via zoom. Do not do this option unless you are comfortable with other peopleā€™s family memebers on camera. They say itā€™s not allowed but I did not see any enforcement with this. How can I be comfortable doing group therapy with another persons family memeber clearly able to hear how did this not violate anything? Also they heavily push genesight testing which is not approved by the FDA and might lead to your misguided treatment. Thereā€™s also no follow up once you use the program so Iā€™m pretty sure any data of success they have is a lie. Maybe my experience would have been different if it was in person however I feel thereā€™s other programs out there more beneficial than this. They like to act like they are the only program around for thisā€¦ they are not

Just had a horrible experience for a family member here. Zero communication means Zero stars. Dr Shaun Wood sadly has no communication skills. When I was visiting my loved one I tried to speak to him and he walked right by me. Prior to that I left numerous messages for him and he never called me back. Thank goodness the nurses tried to be as helpful as possible. However that is a huge disconnect. Dr Shaun Wood wanted to keep my loved one in the behavioral center as long as possible for the insurance money. Thank goodness I was able to get him out.

An anti-Catholic/Godless/Woke institution that specializes in a pseudo science. Collaborative treatment can't exist with fake, habitually conformed, unthinking doctors whose only education in medical school is learning how to push synthetic/fake drugs big pharma can sell/lobotomies in pills. This hypocritical hospital removes faith/feeling from people at any cost by fraud doctor's/lobotomists like this hospitals own pseudo house doctor named Shaun Wood. Mr. Wood calls himself a medical doctor but Shaun knows absolutely nothing about any drug pharmacology nor has Shaun ever received any formal education on how a vital organ called the brain works, so, what then does Shaun Wood/this hospital think they're doing treating/billing people using no science/no education/no reason? In my opinion, Shaun and this hospitals other review ratings clearly shows Shaun Wood/Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health does a lot more harm to other people than any good or what other reason can be given to justify Shaun Woods/Alexian Brothers Behavioral Healths reckless mistreatments/poor reviews by other people? May Shaun Wood be blessed with feeling the wrath of Almighty God in this life and in the next. Shaun Wood is a Predator!

I was a patient 6 or 7 years ago. I was in the outpatient program for self-harm and it was an extremely helpful program. It helped me process and understand myself. I'm not sure how the in-patient program is but I'd recommend the out-patient one in a heartbeat. Thank you for saving my life šŸ–¤

Listen Bottomed line, This Place WORKS & the Staff are Unbelievably Great. They DO go out of their way to keep you Feeling functional During detox, something some of us struggling with when we're using. The only difference is those who go there because they actually want to change their lives or have they been forced to go here ? It's never going to be effective & work for YOU until YOU actually WANT it to happen... Some of these reviews are Terrible but then I realize, THOSE are the ones who were forced to go or are used to some āœŒļøMillionaires Weekend luxury Drunk clubāœŒļø.. Anyway I wanted to set the record Straight, the Staff is GREAT & they dont let you suffer

Showed no compassion or concern. Patient was seen and was told they would be called within 48 hours to schedule outpatient program. NO call, NO information. Patient called to find out what was happening and was asked to leave a message. They said some one would call within 24 hours. Certainly a hospital treating people with anxiety would be expected to respond before 3 days to someone reaching out to them for help. I am beyond disappointed and angry. Going to another hospital to be treated and I would caution you not to use this one.

Where is the empathy and compassion? The staff really needs to change their ways. They need to learn how to treat their patients and families. There is no need to be belittled or disrespectful. I hope upper management takes the time out to address these situations. This should be a place where the patients get help and start to feel better not feel more depressed. Positive, Kind words and have an understanding of others.

This is no longer a valid mental health facility, it is a gender transition affirmation facility. Transgender ideology is clearly promoted within the organization. So if your kid is suffering from gender confusion on account of their exposure to the public school system and the resultant social contagion and you want to facilitate their complete transformation, this is the place for you. If your are a normal parent and see that your kid has gender dysphoria and want to save their life, find a mental health facility that does not embrace this wicked ideology. Ascension Alexian Brothers purports themselves as a Catholic institution. Well let me present to the inept and misguided directors of this institution what scripture says about what you are doing to children. From Matthew 18:1-6: "1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Go to a better mental hospital where you will actually get help, because you wonā€™t here, unless you want to get gaslit and get a tranquilizer shot for standing up to these horrible neglectful staff DO NOT GO HERE!!!! They just want your insurance money, they care more about that than the patients. Staff also talked negatively about patients behind their back, very rude and unprofessional!!!! Help them instead of talking bad about them which is your job, talking bad about them is not. If this place really cared about the patients they would fire the old unprofessional staff who have the mentality of teenagers and donā€™t take their job seriously, most of them should be mental hospital patients themselves, and hire people who actually are professional, take their job seriously, and want to help people. Oh and donā€™t meet with the psychologist Dr. Neary if itā€™s suggested, he is condescending, judgemental, and rude!!! Horrible facility and will never go back!!!!!

First time here I can't really complain it's better than most psych wards I've been in. Although I did have an issue with one rude and ignorant behavioral health counselor named Danielle (Black Woman) all the other staff members treated everyone fairly. Not sure if the complaint I filed upon that employee got resolved but the way she treats patients she shouldn't be working in a psychiatrist hospital

I had went in during the visitation hours to see my aunt, I understand the bad review because every visit was not the best. This time I had a great experience seeing my loved one, the caregiver Silali I believe her name was showed great care and patients to my loved one which made me feel like she was being well taken care of. I hope to see more of their staff like this.
