There must be some rude people going to the hospital. I know they write that way. I have been there for four surgeries and many visits. I have never had anything but a great experience, but I am nice to them any don’t go in with an attitude that I am untitled.

The front desk lady who's name is Lila was very rude. She said hospital policy is they don't let anyone in the hospital under 18 unless your a patient. They kicked out my 14 year old sister and my 18 month daughter, btw who was born here as well. There's no signs of anything stating they can not enter the hospital. I see signs that stat no one under 18 allowed in the inpatient rooms. Nothing about them not entering the hospital.. I would have understood if there was signs stating they couldn't enter the hospital but there wasn't. I could have simply had them stay home.

My 92-year-old Father has been at Lake Forest Hospital a number of times. The staff there is friendly and caring. The doctors are knowledgeable and well-qualified. Despite those resources, the hospital does NOT work efficiently. In fact, it seems to be poorly run-managed. The scheduling of tests, physical therapy, etc is a mystery and is without reliable timing and frequently takes incredibly long ... would be better off scheduling them as an out-patient. Doctors appear, or don't appear, without notice. Therefore, it is very difficult to communicate with them unless you spend the entire day sitting in the room. Feels like the place is run by amateurs. With the resources and funding that the place clearly has (beautiful facility, grounds, state of the art equipment, etc), it is a shame it is not more professionally managed.

I came to this hospital per my doctor to be admitted, the front desk lady was very rude, checked me in and told to have a seat. After waiting awhile which is normal for emergency room they pulled me to the back and placed me in the hallway. They would not even allow my husband and kids to come back with me. As a pregnant mother I expect for my husband to be right by my side and they would not allow him to be. The purpose of coming there was for my pregnancy. I had authorization to be admitted in labor and delivery not emergency room, but front desk lady would not keep looking for my info. I will never come to this hospital ever again. Zero stars. Nurses aren't that great neither.

Labor and Delivery unit for this hospital is well below average. Took multiple nurses to start an IV. Once requested the epidural took an hour before it was started. Must be cutting back on nurses and support to pay for the new hospital. To top it all off every bill we have received has been incorrect after reviewing with our insurance company. I would recommend looking for other options in the Lake Forest area for birthing units.

My mother was admitted on 06/06/2020 for a G-Tube replacement. I received a call from Lake County Health Dept on 07/02/2020 asking how my mother was after testing POSITIVE for Covid-19. Nobody from the hospital notified myself, her doctors, nursing facility or dialysis center where she goes for treatment 3 times per week! I called to check on her while she was there for the 2 days and never received a callback from the nurse. AND I never knew they even tested her for Covid-19! What is a nice facility if the care they are providing doesn't meet the standards. This is the 2nd negative experience we have had in the past year.

ER visit started a little iffy but ended up being very please with the care my husband received here after being hit by a car. The nurse practitioner that saw him was amazing - very personable and professional.

Not sure about the people leaving all the negative reviews but between this facility, the one in downtown Chicago on 259 E. Erie where I had my 3rd surgery on my left wrist to have some hardware removed and LF Pediatrics for my kids, NM is truly THE BEST hospital system in the entire state and has been in the top ten in the US for a while now. The doctors, RNs and staff deliver top notch service in a state-of-the-art modern facility which is kept squeaky clean and with the current COVID situation, well sanitized for the safety of the public. Cafeteria has good reasonably-priced food, there's a gift shop, a Starbucks with a limited menu and a Walgreens pharmacy as well. My son who's now 5 was born in the old facility and my youngest son born this past Dec. 8th obviously was gonna be born in the best of the best of Lake co. Around here it doesn't get any better than Northwestern Medicine. My newborn was born at a healthy 10lbs and 10oz but had some issues with low blood sugar and low oxygen levels while feeding so he was transferred to the Special Care nursery for a few days before coming home. The entire staff were superb in monitoring and caring for my baby boy who finally came home on the night of Dec. 14th. Hands down, this is the go-to hospital of choice for any health related concerns and my family and I will continue coming here.

I'm shocked to read all these negatives reviews, I really hope it's because people typically complain and rarely take time to compliment. Lake Forest was my hospital of choice when I had to bring my sons to an Emergency Department...or had to go myself. I have an outpatient procedure coming up and hope there aren't any issues.

Decent hospital treated a family member that was here well although she disliked the food and most of the shops here were nice and had great service but there was one experience that soured my time here when I went to eat at the cafeteria an elderly lady who worked there that apparently was having a β€œrough day” yelled/screamed at me because I dropped a SINGLE fry like what the heck! and then started being all smart with my dad this made me very angry but I didn’t want to start anything so I just walked away she apparently apologized but to me that still doesn’t justify the way she acted she never even apologized to me specifically but overall the hospital was great with dealing with patients but not with restaurant customers if there was one thing I could change it would be that lady’s attitude!

This is a terrible hospital. My wife has had two c sections there and both experiences have been terrible. The first time my wife was basically ignored and this time she was left crying in pain. They would never last in a true free market. If you can go to a different hospital for sure do it. Side note as well food sucks.

After the concierge supposedly said that she didn’t have the car keys I needed, she had told me to check the emergency wing of the hospital. There, I had someone escort me through the emergency room. Afterwards,I had met a friendly man valet, where unfortunately, he didn’t have the keys. He had asked a security guard who refused to let me back through the emergency wing, telling me to walk back around the building. After arriving back at the front desk, I learn that the security guard DID have the car keys, and that security could actually offer me a ride back to the front entrence. Unacceptable service and incompetent staff that lack compassion.

What HAPPENED? I've been a patient at NWM for decades, now they're horrible. I had an issue with multiple ER visits. Patient relations and billing have been beyond a hassle to deal with. I even sat down and did all of the research into my bills and wrote them a thorough letter with a breakdown of expenses and a fair settlement but I can't even get anyone there to read it! It's like dealing with a clique of snotty teenagers that decided your going to get picked on! They've been nothing short of abusive and I'm really disappointed because I have two long term illnesses and now I have to find all new health care providers because of their rude patient relations and billing offices.

As EVERYONE has been saying AVOID this hospital at all costs if you wish to have a healthy delivery. I went AMA once I realized that they were either grossly incompetent or just plain evil. And YES they will milk your insurance and you with ridiculous charges. DO NOT BE FOOLED by the aesthetics of the hospitals. ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

This hospital is run by evil people, I went in the ER back in December of 2020 because I was not feeling normal at the time and Alton Mental Health had advised me that if I don't feel normal, I should go a nearest hospital. I had insisted while at Alton that I had no mental illness but they refused to agree with me and forced medications on me after losing my fight in medication court. I chose the best hospital in the area because I wanted to prove that I really wasn't mentally ill at all. After checking me in as a mental patient, they took all my belongings and put me a private room which was all normal procedure. I also told them the medication that Alton Mental Health had mandated that I should take in order to stay on court sipervision. They refused to give me that medication and not that I really needed it but wanted to prove them wrong. When I ordered for something to eat, they served good food-which was a salad and orange juice BUT refused to give me a fork or spoon to use to eat(they have plastic disposable). I had to use my hands and not just that. They then transferred me to Chicago Behavioral Hospital(While there-thry also refused to give me medication-If I was mentally ill why didn't they give me medication). They were ensuring that I never got what I expected just like how any other patient would. Straight up evilness. I had had enough experience in mental hospitals in Illinois to know exactly how they function and all they were doing was just the opposite. I do not recommend this hospital to anyone that takes their belief so important because there is evil staff there.

Sad excuse for a hospital.. Reggie was the only good nurse you have in the entire hospital. 8 sticks 4 nurses and still couldn't find a vein. Never treated the symptoms of my illness, never diagnosed me with anything other than a sinus infection. They didn't even know I was dehydrated. My daughter is a cna/ma and knew more of how to treat me than anyone that saw me in that hospital. Won't be returning to this hospital they can't provide adequate care. Warning to all!!!!

The Doctor's and the the nurse's are very compassionate. The people in the front door (admission people) not so much. I fell at the front door due to liver infection then Covid 19 a week later on their front door at emergency room. Admission staff didn't blink an eye, until security guard helped me to admission desk. Jesus help the sick into the hospital to the doctors & nuses. Family please be aware of staff at the front desk! πŸ™

They have treated my wife horribly and could careless about her condition. She has been in and out of there for a year and all they do is give the same tests, different departments don't talk to each other and all they do is the the same tests. She is asked to talk to the patient advocate and they won't even do that Right now they are trying to discharge her but the ambulance service can't take her because she can't walk and dosen't have a wheelchair and now they called security on her because she can't leave because she can't walk. 03022020. We still haven't heard a thing from the little shop of horrors .

Be aware of this place! Think twice. My wife spent over 4 hrs (10 pm -2am) at this facility with our 3 year old. We went there as we thought our 3 year old had broken his arm. After seen by 3 doctors, X-ray etc the "hospital" determined the arm not to be broken. She received a phone call 8 am and they stated that the arm was indeed broken. She went to IL Bone and Joint institute and myt wife saw the x-rays and it was very clear, even for her with no medical education that the arm was broken and needed a cast. How can you trust this place if they can't even read x-rays?

Was in the hospital for 2 weeks, first arriving through emergency. The staff treated me with all the attention you can hope for. They were attentive, caring and well trained to get me back to full strength and better health. From the emergency staff, nurses and techs on floor 2 and the assortment of doctors that collaborated on best treatments to get me back to health, thank you to all!!

After having an awful experience at another hospital in Arlington Heights, I went the same day to Northwestern in Lake Forest. The staff treated me with dignity, respect and care. The nurses are amazing and actually care about you as a person. They did everything to ensure comfort from extra blankets to getting me a quiet pack which has earplugs and a mask. The nurse manager stopped by to ensure all was exceeding expectations. The doctors have been great and included me in my care decisions. Overall a quality experience.

I've seen two neurologists here who have been great. The main hospital is clean, modern, and there's lots of folks around to help. Love the Starbucks for a quick pick-me-up. This is my go-to for Doctors and appointments.

We had our baby here August 2022 and had an excellent experience. The doctors and nursing staff were extremely knowledgeable, attentive, caring, and patient. We would absolutely recommend this hospital for delivery and cannot thank the staff members enough. The amenities, triage, labor/delivery, and recovery rooms were all comfortable and very clean. Thank you so much to the staff you were all amazing!

This hospital emergency room department is a mess and horrible they are just plain mean with everyone my son and I waited 3 and 1/2 hours and I couldn’t take it anymore and had to leave but before I left I told one of the rude nurses that it’s not fare that a kid should be waiting that long and she said β€œwell we take whoever is feeling the most pain and he looks fine β€œ and was very rude And unprofessional I left there in tears with my son and mind u we got there close to 7 and everyone That was there before and after ya had already gone in we were the only ones waiting and they had no intentions on giving us a room and they kept taking in all the other new ones it was the most horrible service I have ever seen and can’t believe how mean the staff there is with people ... horrible terrible don’t go there unless u want to wait a whole day until THEY feel that your in enough pain .

As a patient I feel bad for the cleaning crew, the nurses and supervisors are forcing them to do covid rooms, they should educate them with some kind of classes about what’s happening & how to protect themselves, so they can handle it with less fear and know how to deal with the situation, sending a person without any information is not the right way., I don’t think protection equipment without education is enough.

No wonder there are so many negative reviews here, that too concerning different areas. Mine is regarding the telephonic encounter with the guy from the Audiology department for scheduling hearing aids appointment for my parents. I believe his name was Anthony. He had to repeat a sentence twice, and that second time was like I was being scolded. Will be better off working with some other facility. If anyone from the administration reads this, please apologize on my behalf to that gentleman for wasting his valuable time, as I am hesitant in reaching out to your department again. Thank you!

Came to the ER for my son. Was there so long, to be expected. But the lack of confidentiality and privacy in how they have these partitions in the hallway. I heard a whole conversation regarding how one patient had an STI, they were not sure if another patient was a male or a female, said her name and her bay number. Not professional. No confidentiality.

Everyone was very friendly and caring. Plus I met a nice volunteer lady of my nationality with whom I got to chat for a while. To the people who complain about long wait times, this is a hospital not an oil change... The nurses especially are overworked and often underpaid for what they do. Unless you're on your deathbed, be patient and wait your turn. There's other people who have far more serious conditions from complicated pregnancies to senior citizens to trauma victims. If you can manage to play on your phone you are not their top priority.

I was in waiting are for 2 hours. I asked the front desk multiple times at least how many people we where waiting on or how much longer with no answers. She kept saying when nurse comes back she'll look into it. However when the nurse showed up she didn't ask because she was busy gossiping with security. Plus people who arrived after us went first.

I really liked my ER doc, my surgeon (I had an appendectomy) and the nurses. What I didn’t like was my joke of a β€œhallway room” which I’m sure I will be charged the same rate as a regular hospital room? And then there were the random 6+ other staff (not my doctor, not my nurse) who came to examine me one after the other just so they could get paid, I’m assuming? I mean, the US healthcare system is broken as it is so I guess you get what you get?

We brought my 3 year old son in on Saturday night for extremely high fevers and flu like symptoms. They basically told us he is fine and sent us on our way. The doctor came to see us ONCE! And the nurse wasnt very nice till shift change. The Triage last was absolutely fantastic. We also waited 5 hours for Covid, flu, and RSV results. My son still had a fever on Sunday so I brought him to St. Cathrines in Pleasant prairie. He has a DOUBLE ear infection and upper respiratory infection! HOW DID LAKE FOREST miss that!!!!! I will NEVER be back. And not to mention our cubicle room we had. Didnt even feel important!

My wife gave birth to our wonderful little girl here and the staff were phenomenal from start to finish. The nurse Loubelle and the midwife Jenna were incredible. They had all the right knowledge and advice for a smooth process from inducement to the birth of our daughter. The rooms for birth and recovery were clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. The staff in the recovery area were excellent too, answering all our questions and showing us best practices for swaddling, breast feeding, etc. They even provided a professional photo op so we got some wonderful pictures of the first few days. My wife and I cannot recommend Lake Forest Hospital enough. Thank you for making our first few days as parents as easy as possible!

No wait on a Sunday morning. Care was great. the real 5 stars of my review comes from the fact during my ED and subsequent 2 day stay, I was treated only by physicians---no nurse practitioners or physician assistants. If I'm paying top price, I want the experts in medicine, not to be handed off to someone with a fraction of the education. Will recommend just because of this.

Thanks to these amazing people, I will beat cancer and live to raise my young child. There is no greater gift. I not only received treatment, but also compassion and kindness. Thank you!

My father was recently hospitalized in the ICU for an extensive amount of time. He suffered various COVID complications. Fortunately, the nurses and doctors were able to save his life by applying their competency skills and acting fast whenever something came up. Overall, the ICU staff was nothing but extraordinary, kind, knowledgable, and compassionate. All nursing staff were great, however I would specifically like to point out a few nurses that made his stay special and more comfortable. Ingrid, RN from night shift made sure my dad was freshly shaven and clean for his birthday, which is something we were grateful for. The following nurses: Michael(PM), Maureen(AM), Stephanie(AM), and Kellee (AM) stoof out to us the most as they were always on top of my dad's health care and constantly checked up on him and our family even on the days they weren't his nurse. They showed us that they truly care. Thank You so much to all the staff!!

This review is for the Physical Therapy Suite 200 office lake forest il, right next to hospital. I was waiting in line behind a person for 10mins they also had a complaint. After she left I was right infront of lady who Checks you in. She didn't look at me instead was talking about me behind my back to a male therapist saying "oh I give him 5 more minutes, he called yesterday morning and said he was tired can he reschedule for today. Then he called today and asked if he could reschedule again can you believe that. His mychart shoes his been to hospital many times and he better not have an episode here at our place" Very unprofessional to talk about a patient and like that right infront of me. I left the place after she said that as I was not happy. I have insomnia and wasn't feeling good the day before for orginal evaluation and called way ahead of time to reschedule. That person does not belong in a working with people environment. Worst experience in a medical facility.

I went to the ER w my daughter (a minor) in September 2020. I had a bike accident. Bruised ribs and compression fracture. The ER was lovely to my daughter. I went to pick up my scans in October 2020. I went w my daughter. No one told me to come solo. My daughter was told to leave the building and wait outside the hospital. It was 30 plus degrees outside. I’d come from Chicago to pick up my CD. The greeter said she hoped it was ok to make my daughter leave. I told her it wasn’t.

We had our baby here April 2022 and could not have asked for a better experience. The nurses were extremely attentive, personable, and just what we needed to endure a 24 hour plus unmedicated birthing experience. I would love to give them all credit individually, but will keep this generic for their privacy. Would 100% recommend this hospital for delivery and cannot thank the staff members enough. To the best labor/delivery staff on the planet, thank you so much for everything you do. You are all wonderful people and will forever be a part of our story! Keep shining in this dark world, we need more people like you!!!!

I just had an incredible experience here. I went to see pulmonology nurse Melissa Fisher today. I always have a decent experience at the outpatient facilities, but my experience at this hospital is night and day compared to downtown-- I can't remember if it was the Arkes Pavilion or the Lavin Family Pavilion, but it was a maze and caused me anxiety every time I went. The Lake Forest location is beautiful and clean. You're greeted at the front of the main hospital by a very kind complementary valet and then by equally nice hospital volunteers who will direct you to where you need to go. The administrative people who check you in at the cardiology/ pulmonary department are friendly and personable, and I was seen for my appointment almost immediately. If you need to go to Northwestern Hospital for a doctor's visit, always come to this location.

Apparently we are suppose to know that we can't eat the food/ drink from their hospital Starbucks in the patient waiting area (Where we have to stay while waiting) even though are no SIGNS that signify that you can't eat in the area?!

Professional, caring staff who demonstrate courage and patience in dealing with some of the demanding, entitled patients who frequent their facility. My hat is off to you, and know that the majority of us understand and appreciate your competence and your dedication.

I know the Hospital is beautiful but the signs are not friendly the main sign on 43 don't have the address It should say 1000 Then the doctor address should be more friendly on Google 5 billion dollars and the hospital can't put more information on the website 1000 Westmoreland building 900 112 this should be the correct way but it's not

I called this hospital to see if I can get a doctor referral, the receptionist transferred me to that department and for some reason they don’t pick up the phones at all. I been trying to call both numbers for over 2 hours and still nothing, I would choose the call back so whenever they’re ready I’ll get a call. They would call me back telling me I’m next and then I’d still be on hold for more than 15 minutes. This is ridiculous and if this hospital really is ranked as the best hospital in the Midwest they should at least have employees that pick up the phone.

4/27/23. I went in for same day surgery, the nursing staff was great. Although, when my belongs were returned, money was stolen from my wallet. I made a police report. Strange that they have a camera in the recovery room, but not in their property room to keep their employees from stealing from patients.

I have had two surgeries at Lake Forest and am in cancer treatment. Except for one doctor, an anesthesiologist, I have received excellent care and everyone from the cleaning people up have been kind and considerate.

Not too sure about all the negative reviews. I had all 4 of my kids at Lake Forest Hospital. The most recent one in 2018 a few weeks after the new hospital opened and I couldnt ask for any better service in Labor and Delivery. The nurses went above and beyond all were very friendly and gentle. The rooms are nice the food is good. They even let my visitors stay past visiting hours.

Terrific facility and staff. The hospital is immaculate, the rooms clean and efficient and very comfortable. The nursing staff is superior to any other facility I have been to. All of the doctors, especially my surgeon, were careful to explain everything and follow up with me. Honestly I am so glad LFH is close and so excellent with care.

Beware. My first experience with the hospital was fine, although it is very difficult to ever actually talk to a doctor. The second was a nightmare. It took them 2 hours to get me into the ER, where they stowed me in some closet for about 4 hours. Then, they admitted me to a hallway β€œroom.” They put you in a hallway with curtains on either side. Every time a patient calls for the nurse a chime goes off and keeps going until it is answered. Doors are slamming all the time. There is constant talking all around you. It never gets even remotely dark. This is all aside from the fact that it is cramped and uncomfortable, but the main issue is that it is impossible it is to sleep there or get any peace for even a second. They moved me to a ramshackle improvised sort of β€œroom” that is like a conference room with makeshift partitions. Not as loud, but still not quiet. They physically cannot turn certain lights off and at 5 am all the super bright lights pop on and they cannot be turned off for some inexplicable reason. It is almost impossible to talk to a doctor and the only reason for two stars is that the nurses did their best with the absolute s*** show of a situation. If you have an emergency, I would HIGHLY recommend finding a different hospital.
