The absolute WORST and unprofessional staff at that hospital. To deny a person five minutes to spend with their dying father is unfathomable. I understand the two visitor policy but when you travel across country and are leaving to go back home exceptions can, and should be made. Then to call security after being granted five minutes and led out of the building, before getting to see my father, is appalling. All because the enormous ego of the charge nurse was challenged and she was over ruled, is beyond comprehension. There was absolutely no need to call security. No voices were raised, no threats were made. Just standing and waiting for my father to finish his treatment so I could see him. This experience was sickening on several levels. The obtuse nature of those nurses was beyond reason. How anyone can call themselves a compassionate caregiver in that hospital is beyond me.

Obviously the environment of hospitals has changed drastically in the past few years. I won't blame covid completely, but their model of a business mentality is completely unacceptable. The for profit mindset is what has changed all of these hospitals into a total disaster. The wife had a small surgery and the positive is that her Dr is absolutely awesome! He is very attentive and arguably the best at what he does. Kids still can't come visit which is totally ridiculous and unacceptable. The nurses here were more argumentative than helpful it's a shame and I am being polite when I say it's a disgrace.

This is the worst hospital one can go to. As another person below said, healthcare is a business. This is exactly what Glenbrook is about. They also don’t value the family’s decisions and want the family to pull the plug asap so they can have an open bed. The doctors are so rude, that despite asking for a TEAM meeting with the family, they never called back. The nurses are not there to help but act like they hold the paints life in their hands. They told our family member that they are in charge not him when he is gasping for air and refused to increase his oxygen. They also discriminated against us, because they had a resident call us to give us the news of our family members death, but when we were at the hospital afterwards, the main doctor sat with one family to give condolences, but with us, he did not sit nor his team offer a word of condolence when they walked passed us. It makes you wonder how did our relative actually die or was he killed?? Its all a business for them. Please take my advice and stay away. I didn’t write this review for nothing, but as a warning to help other families to choose the right place.

My mom came in with severe burns on her body from an accident. We waited in the lobby for 6+ hours. Everyone that was here with us were passed and discharged and we were still waiting when new people came in. A man came in with his wife and waited less than 30 minutes to be taken back. Simply because he started yelling at staff and threaten to sue to take people’s medical license. Quickly everyone catered to him and ran to get his wife checked 3 times by 3 DIFFERENT nurses and they all told him it was a wait as his wife wasn’t as high priority. Maybe I should do the same and cause a scene to get treated faster. When I ask the receptionist if she knew how much long since my mom was in pain too, just not as vocal, she brushed me off and had no sympathy.

Here's why I am giving three stars. The good: Every time I have an appointment I am always treated with care by every staff member. My mom is a nurse here and I'm very thankful that she takes care of every patient she sees. The rest of the staff are also very friendly and helpful. The bad: The Emergency Room is just a nightmare. On August 4, 2022, I came to the ER with severe pain in my ear and was turned away after being told I would have to wait 6 hours. 9 months later, on May 6, 2023, I fell on the sidewalk and severely broke my left arm. My mom wanted to get me in her car so she could drive me to Glenbrook. However, I could barely help myself up, I felt very nauseous so I don't think that would be a great idea. I felt like an ambulance would be better because even though it's expensive, I knew that a paramedic/EMT would have to help me get on the stretcher and to the hospital faster. I rode in the ambulance because of how bad the break was. I was taken to Lutheran General Hospital since it was the closest and since I was in Des Plaines at the time. I was seen right away over at Lutheran, and they took great care of me. I'm never seen right away at Glenbrook. I understand that there is always a long wait since doctors and nurses are busy, but to wait for 6 hours is ridiculous. I only return here since I have tons of non-emergency appointments here, but for the emergency room, I don't think I'll be back there.

Pathetic experience!!! ER has unreal wait times of more than 7 hours. No point calling it an 'EMERGENCY'. Very uncomfortable seating, no communication on when your turn is going to come and the whole experience is super frustrating. We have waited for more than 5 hours and except writing this review, there is no place I can express my grief.

Stay away from this place if you want to live. This hospital embodies all the worst aspects of a failed medical system - treatment before diagnosis, terrible continuity between shifts, long wait times for urgent matters, treating symptoms using powerful drugs without considering underlying medical issues, piling on additional costs whenever possible (including pushing further tests, meals, and treatment after being discharged by the doctor). You MUST strongly advocate for yourself/loved one if you come here, get second opinions! Even if this place is convenient, you should go to another hospital, and you'll be grateful you did. I don't want to go as far as to say the staff at Glenbrook is ill-intentioned, but they are undoubtedly subjected to a terrible hospital system that sets people up for failure and has bad incentives. Read these other reviews and consider yourself warned, if you bring your loved ones here they might not be able to leave.

Worse ER experience I ever had. 6 hours waiting last night in the ER waiting room to be seen. Walked in at 9pm and left at 3am totally frustrated and in pain. I preferred keeping my kidney's pain instead of waiting any further minute there. And having underlying health conditions didn't help me in this situation. I guess because I have Meridian Health as Insurance had a lot to do with all this long time waiting. People that arrived after me were brought in and I was still waiting. I'm still in pain and today I will call my doctor to see what to do at this point. Just totally ridiculous and nonsense. Never again.

My doctor ordered a covid test prior to cancer surgery. Before and after I took an at home test which was negative. The Glenbrook test showed positive and my surgeon canceled my surgery. The next day I took the extended (PRC?) test at Lutheran General Hospital and it was negative. It appears that I an going to have this cancer grow for another month and a half since it appears an incompetent employee of Glenbrook furnished my surgeon with false results!

Absolutely worst hospital ER I have ever encountered. Watched 15 people walk out some bleeding and one who had collapsed from chest pain was rolled out by his family because they just stick people in corners after triage and forget them. Now the triage nurse was actually very nice for the three mins you seen him however after we were shoved back into the waiting area for hours. We asked what a likely estimate on time for our wait the old lady working the front desk gave a snide “Well the person before you has been here 4.5 hours so what do you think!”

I’m not sure why this place has such negative reviews… I guess people only have comments to leave when they’re negative, BUT Glenbrook Hospital is outstanding. My grandpa has been to this hospital many times in the past few months and my family and I have been nothing but happy with the service; the space is newly renovated and very clean, and above all the staff is amazing. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and they all genuinely care about helping their patients. Extra special shout out to Nurse Aisha on the third floor South, she’s a godsend. Overall, I’m thankful to know my grandpa is in good hands at Glenbrook!

This is a really bad hospital. Nursing staff is good but nothing else is. Physician assistants are terrible. I had tremendous pain after rectal cancer surgery. In the morning, no body cares. This is a very dangerous hospital you should stay away from. I had a choice to do my surgery at Mayo vs locally. Chose locally due to convenience and the surgeon doctor who I and the family liked. Did not consider the eco system, beyond the doctor the Eco system. It is so bad at This hospital that you are left wondering what is going on, incompetence, lazy es lack of interest what is it? I was screaming from pain and no one would respond. The Physician assistant on duty has no empathy and no help, all they want to do is discharge you when you are still in pain to pass the buck to someone else. STAY Away…….

Our experience with the ICU this past week has been a blessing for our family and my wife's last days. From the doctor's to the nurses overall was a blessing. Sue in the reception area is so very awesome and comforting at such a time as this. Sue thank you .

I went to the emergency room here many years ago, but seeing the reviews, it seems nothing has changed, so I will share my experience anyway. It was about 8 years ago so I was 11 years old at the time. I was having horrible stomach pain and I kept vomiting. The ER wasn't busy, there was only one other person in the waiting room. Despite how much pain I was in and how much I kept vomiting, they had me wait in the waiting area for at least 3+ hours, which really defeats the purpose of this being an "emergency room". My parents had to line up chairs so that I could try to lay down but it didn't help. They basically just left a child to suffer on the waiting chairs for hours. When I was finally called in, I asked if I could have some water and they said they don't have any??? What kind of ER doesn't have water? They gave me a cup of ice cubes instead :/. I think I had a UTI. My sis went here recently and had a similar experience. She also noticed that the staff isn't well supplied, which is what made me remember my experience from all those years ago (Seriously, what kind of hospital doesn't have water?). Idk, I expect better from a Northshore hospital, especially from the ER.

This is by far the worst hospital in the entire state. If you have a loved one and you care about them, DO NOT bring them to this hospital. We’ve been in and out of hospitals these past few months and this was the worst experience. Nurses are amazing and a blessing but physicians have no empathy. ICU doctors are horrible, especially Dr. Mooen. This physician needs to put his license down and find another career with his careless attitude. Worst physicians we’ve ever seen. There’s so much I can say negatively about this hospital and physicians but it’s just a waste of my time to do so. Please be aware and do not bring your loved ones here.

My mom is in hospice and had fallen and needed Staples in the back of her head. Initial pm visit good. Had to have her transported back home after ER visit in am and they did not change her depends, and did not change her wound dressing and left a needle in her arm.Morning nurse clearly stressed. Horrible outcome. wound on her arm from the fall, and left a needle in her arm. P.m. people were great and morning was clearly stressed.

The worst hospital and doctors , Do not send the loved one to this hospital . My dad had stage 2-A stomach cancer , I lost my dad because of wrong diagnostic , bad treatment from radiation, bleeding after surgery. When my father was in Lutheran Hospital as a result of small intestine inflammation, the side effects of radiation saw a buildup of fluid in the lung and the doctors complained that it was pneumonia but after giving the diuretic to my father the fluid did not remain in the lung and my father was fine but after we admitted my father to the North Shore Hospital in Glenview they saw the fluid In my father’s lung, and they did not give him a diuretic, and they did not give him food on the pretext that he could not swallow until we told them that he could eat, why don’t you give him food. Then the nutritionist came and examined him and saw that he could eat and they brought him food after days of not giving him food. They also misdiagnosed my father as having pneumonia as a result of water gathering in the lung, and after they put my father on a respirator and did all the tests for the lung, they found that my father had no bacterial, fungal or radioactive lung infection. My father was put on a respirator, which led to my father's death. The nursing staff is very poor and the medical staff is incompetent. From our experience in this hospital in its dealings with my father, I advise those whom I consider to be sick loved ones not to send them to this hospital, for they will die there because of the poor services and the incompetence of the doctors.

I was admitted to Glenbrook Hospital, Nov 6th, 2023. The staff including all the nurses we're amazing. The admitting doctor, Dr. Desai not so much. I had to go to a shoulder specialist after my release on Nov9th.The doctor did an MRI today. This revealed a Torn rotator cuff and tear in the labrum. He downplayed my pain and didn't order the MRI. He wrote me a days worth of pain meds at release. There are doctors who lack the empathy and compassion to make their patients comfortable, like Dr. Desai. I'm very disappoited about his level of care. Other than him, every other staff member gets 5 stars from me.

NO VISIBLE SIGNS RI EMERGENCY ROOM! Is this a joke? The red EMERGENCY sign is at the BOTTLM (?) Of the hospital sign buried and hidden by a rose bush??? Once inside try to find your doctors office thorough the Labyrinth of a maze wirh again little to no signs to elevators or suites 10 miles of walking wirh a disabled senior who doesn’t have a wheelchair, 39 minutes later we are exhausted! WHO DESIGNED THIS HOSPITAL?

Last week I went to the ER, even though I had to wait four hours to see a physician. The care I received here was exceedingly better than any other ER I've been to. The reception staff was kind, caring, and willing to explain things. Even though the hospital was packed! They kept the people calm and did their best to encourage people to hang in there. The nurses were amazing! I can’t say enough positive things about how they all went above and beyond for my care. Both of the doctors I saw were women and BIPOC. Their bedside manners were unlike anything I've ever experienced. I was in so much pain due to my illness, and the tenderness they showed me, and my husband caused me to weep with gratitude. I'm genuinely grateful for the care I received here. I would recommend this hospital to anyone.

This is one of the best hospitals / doctors office I have been to since moving to the state of IL! I highly recommend anyone that needs a primary care / family doctor to go to Dr. Stephanie Tetreault! She makes wanting to come to see a doctor easy and explains things and eases ones mind on the outcome and results. I highly recommend her and this hospital.

Went in on a Saturday morning and for whatever reason no one else was in the waiting room and I got straight in. I'd heard from a family member that the wait times were usually at least five hours. The triage person was very kind, and got me looked to right away. The nurse was also fantastic, although she wasn't able to draw blood from one of my hands, and at one point left the needle in, which happened to be sticking *sideways*. But everybody was really cool, and the facility is quiet and expansive. The real problem was the physician's assistant. She made it clear that she didn't believe I should have come in. She told me that the chills that had sent me to the ER the night before had just happened on their own, and the reason I had a dangerously high lactate reading and a high blood cell count was as my body's response to the chills. So even though it's a beautiful environment, my trust level with their services is low.

Went to Glenbrook on an emergency (abdominal, breathing). Got there late at night. Hospital staff got me admitted and into an emergency room. They ran a bunch of preliminary tests, asking questions, building a chart for the doctors. Staff was fast , thorough, and professional. Over the next 30 minutes was seen by two doctors. Was given a breathing apparatus and some medication, then told to rest (nap) while they go over the test results. Came back an hour later, found my problems, filled out prescription forms, and recommended I setup an appointment with my regular physician. They then released me. Since I had no way to get back home, the staff called a LYFT for me. The next day I got my prescriptions and started taking them. Within an hour I was feeling much better. My breathing was very good, my appetite came back, and I started doing light excercises. Been a week now, and doing very well. Doctors were very experienced and professional, as well as taking the time to explain everything to me. Also, I can't say enough about the hospital staff (nurses, technicians, etc.). Very thorough and caring. A very heartfelt Thank You to everyone at Glenbrook Hospital.

Can I give zero stars? I hate to write this. I am a doctor, so I have some professional insight. This health group has fallen. Endless phone trees, understaffed offices and ERs, inability to get providers on the phone, surly staff on the inpatient units, doctors and social workers who don't communicate well, the list goes on and on. It doesn't have to be this way. This hospital is run like Spirit Air. I can no longer find the office number for individual departments online. I have to call the main number and struggle with a looping phone tree and hope on the third try to get hooked into the correct department. It took me 20 minutes today just to get the right office on the phone. If you are lucky enough to get someone on the phone, they are surly, and generally unhelpful. Over the years we've seen a slow, steady decline in care. We feel trapped as all of our doctors have been affiliated with this group in the past. It is very difficult to migrate out, as almost all hospitals in the area are owned by North Shore. Now they've "rebranded" as Endeavor. Good luck with that. I guess the brand name "North Shore" has become so toxic they had no choice. Everyone in the C-suite at this institution should get out of health care. You are a failure and an embarrassment to the profession.

Worst ER experience. I tried the ER twice for different issues. First experience was a rapid heartbeat during pregnancy which they couldn't figure out so after hours of trying to give me an answer they took a covid test and said it tested positive and that could be it. A second time I went in with horrible abdominal pain due to gall stones (which I had a future surgery scheduled for) but after 12 hours they just sent me home instead of doing the surgery right that moment. Got urinalysis result but my sample never actually left the room.

Went to ER for diverticulitis flare. I have multiple sclerosis and Ehlers-Danlos. I waited 5 hours to be seen. A kid playing video games got seen before I did. The waiting room emptied twice before I was seen. I ended up lying on the floor because my spasms from sitting so long were bad. When I got back to be seen, the ER doc thought I was having heart issues, not spasms, and ordered all kinds of extra expensive tests, which all came back normal. Had I been seen in a timely manner a 10 minute CT scan would have confirmed the diverticulitis and I would have been sent on my way with antibiotics. Poor triage, poor charge nurse, poor assessment. Never again.

Mila RN was very nice to the patient and very professional at the same time she was very kind and I can see that she has a good heart and very compassionate about her job she’s been very helpful for the patient. and Grace PCT 5th floor south. She’s been good to the patient even she was so busy she did give her best every moment the patient needs help. I hope the management would see this and she deserve a good compliment for being good to the patient. She’s a hard worker and very patient. Thank you so much

Went there last night at 12:30 am. Front desk lady and the nurse were very nice. I was coughing so much and couldn’t breathe. Didn’t get called in till 3:45- once I got in the room. My husband and I, waited for 50 mins and no one came. He went out there to see how long it would take and the two nurses were completely rude!!! We understand you are short staff, we were very patient but come on now! Waited since 12:30 am!!!! The nurses basically told him that’s not our side and we don’t even know why she’s here! So basically no one even knew I was in the room waiting!!! They completely either forgot or just didn’t know! How is this even possible! We didn’t leave till 5:45! Never coming back here again!

Well, I was with a patient in the ER on 1/15/24. I have been coming to this hospital since 2014for myself and my family. Today I was completely taken a back by the conditions I saw. This ER is in a complete total state of filth ! There is built up dirt everywhere throughout the entire ER. This is no place for anyone who has any type of health compromise. The staff has been completely cut to low levels, and can not handle the patient flow. As we had been in the ER for over12 hours waiting on a room and not receiving much of any care. While there I was able to observe and notice all. Please review the pictures below and judge the dirt for yourself but none is fresh it is accumulated filth. I am filing a complaint with Cook County and the State. They will also receive the pictures plus additional ones as I took over 200 to prove my point and insure action.

I am a home care nurse my client was transferred there today 12/14/23 I arrived at ER registration desk around 9:05am there the security officer showed me where to stand in line and that one of the two clerks would help me. One clerk worked with another vistor while the other one ignored me completely after 5 minutes then 10 minutes with the security officer noticing what was going on and looking as if he couldnt understand why they were ignoring me even after the one clerk finished with the one vistor in front of me she still refused to ask me if she could help me and the other clerk she found a reason to leave her desk and disappear without asking me if she could help me. I knew that the one remaining clerk would not ask to help me so I called the ER room directly and explained I was the client nurse and he had no other family with him and could I come back she said she would check. The phone rings at the clerks desk which she found time to answer but no time to ask me if she could assist me the clerk says is anyone here for this client I said yes she states you can go back, I am not one to use race as an excuse but I wonder if I was not a Black man if one of the 2 clerks would have been more eager to just do there job and say may I help you without me waiting 15 minutes while one did nothing and the other one after helping the other vistor would not even look at me, I hope managment will look at the Video for this day and ask the security officer and explain the actions of these two clerks.

Pros - Great staff, friendly and helped me through the CT process as it was my first time. Cons - This is not the fault of the staff at Glenbrook hospital, but I had the scans performed here. I need to make others aware of the predatory billing practices of Northshore University. I was supposed to come in for a CT Urology and they mistakenly performed a CT Stone exam, so had to come back two days later for the correct exam, no big deal. The issue is that Northshore billed my insurance and they covered whatever my plan covers for the CT stone exam, then sent me to pay the remaining, which I am not liable for since I am not responsible for the mix-up on the exam. I have been contacting them for 1.5 years and my account has been in "review" with no follow-up from the billing team during this time. I just received a collection notice, so they charged my insurance and myself, refused to communicate with me about clearing these charges and now forcing me to pay so I don't have my credit destroyed. This predatory practice should be illegal and I hate to write this because I never once had an issue with NorthShore all these years. I cannot believe I have to resort to legal action over this. It is impossible to discuss with NorthShore billing team, I cannot get a hold of anyone. I hope one of the supervisors I was promised would call me back within 48 hours sees this. I have been calling multiple times a day, including messaging NorthShore connect everyday. I want an answer.

Worst ER experience ever. I went in for a deviated Spine Disc and was in a lot of Pain. I was asked to sit on a wheelchair for 30 mins which was extremely painful while the ER guys updated my address and checked my vitals. I begged to lie down some where and all this can be done while I am lying on the bed. I kept on saying that I have got numbness in my leg while sitting on the chair. They seemed least bothered of my situation. They said no we need all this information first. We make the accident trauma patient also sit in a wheelchair to complete these formalities. The doctor was good though. He came pretty quick when I was in the ER room, assessed the problem and gave medication.

Sad that Covid issues brought down this amazing hospitals rating. Not sure about some of the 1 star reviews Went to the ER and everyone was so pleasant and kind, even the security guard taking temps was a warm greeting ! This was only my 2nd time at this hospital and I’m overall greatly appreciative and thankful for the staff and how I was treated. I’m sure hospitals see a lot of different people , and deal with a lot…. So happy I drove to NS Glenbrook ! A+ !!! (Although I hope I don’t visit again soon) :)

My husband and I arrived and checked in at 6:30pm, we were told by urgent care that he could have a blood clot in his brain or signs of a stroke or heart attack. They made use wait until 1:00am that is 6.5 hours. There were several people that went a head of us. Every time we asked to see when we were called in, they kept on saying you are the next person. We are beginning to this they are very racist to. All of the white patients kept on going in . Even though they came in ours after me. A lady with bright red hair and glasses who worked behind the desk was extremely mean to us and it felt that she was treating us poorly and racist . Very Racist in this hospital- very unfair how they treated us. This wait was ridiculous. This lady with bright red hair and others that were rude need to get training on how to treat sick people with kindness and like humans.

If I could give them 1 star I would. Waited 5 hours in the waiting room for nothing I was in the same amount of pain as I was when I walked in. I ended up leaving after 5 hours once they told me it would be another hour. My pain was at a 10 on the pain scale and that still was not enough for them to see me right away. I will never be coming back. I left after they wasted my time and im still in lots of pain.
