Looking for a workout that will test you mentally and physically? Orange Theory makes working out fun while educational. If it is your first time, they recommend coming 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork and go through an orientation! This is a must if you want to get the most out of your class. The treadmill, floor and water rower seem instinctual but having the coach walk you through them will allow you to focus more on the workout and your Heart Rate Zones than how the equipment works. Emma was super helpful with getting everything set up for my friends and I and we had an awesome workout on an endurance day. Their classes mix between endurance, strength and both but they do not let you know until the class starts so you cannot skip endurance day. I have always questioned the heart rate theory for workouts but the HR monitors take the guess work out of how hard you are working and really let you focus on trying to get in the Orange zone were you accrue the most splat points. (More splat points more benefit to cardio and fat burning) Would highly recommend for those looking to switch up the monotony of their “usual” workout!

Worst experience ever. I signed up for my first class with Orange Theory and received an email from Orangetheory Fitness South Loop after completing the paperwork that said "If you arrive 15 minutes or later than your reservation time we will have to rebook you for a different class." I didn't want to be late so woke up super early and arrived over 20 minutes before the session. The class was at 6 AM so I literally showed up at 5:38 AM. The studio was EMPTY, nobody there at all and 2 employees. Immediately when I walked through the door "You can't take the class because you were supposed to be here before 5:30 AM, it's compulsory to show up 30 minutes in advance or you are cancelled and have to rebook a different time." I showed the front desk the email from them that specifically says 15 minutes and they were like "well, I work here and thats not the policy." I was very confused, why would South Loop Orange Theory email me the wrong arrival time instructions and then deny me entrance. Keep in mind, studio is EMPTY and its not even 6 AM yet, there was over 20 minutes to provide me with any safety instructions and all the paperwork was already done. I finally gave up and was like, OK I'll just drive home at 5:55 AM and do my own workout. As I was leaving, the front desk worker goes "Oh, and by the way, because you dont have a local address, this wouldn't be a free intro session, you would need to pay full cost." Like, are you kidding me? You've already told me I can't take the class, wasted an hour of my morning, and are now telling me I need to pay for a class that I can't take? This is a joke. Never again trying Orange Theory and actively telling everyone I know that this is the worst fitness class company out there.

This was the first time I tried this fitness center and giving it high rating for a few reasons. To start - very welcoming staff (Joe was very nice). This is the place where technology is really at your service - after 1 h you get full picture of the effort while doing weights, rowing and running taking guessing out with personal explanations from the trainer (Thank you, Joe!). The price could be a bit lower ($30) but once you get the e-mail with break down you can rationalize it. Vibe is great, amenities though small but have everything you can think of (he/she deodorant, lotions, q-tips etc). One thing to mention is that you make your own pace for exercise so if not used to the class "rythm" could be less effective, but it is individual (I love high energy classes at my regular gym).

Orange Theory South Loop is the best studio around! The staff is super attentive and friendly. The coaches are AAA+++ with lots of consistency. It's easy to park right in front on State or in the garage for only $3! It's always really clean too which has become important in this day and age. I would highly encourage anyone thinking about joining to just do it!!

I jointed this gym around Halloween time for hell week. Boy am I glad I took a leap of faith on this membership. First of all, all of the employees are very professional and helpful. The coaches are really nice and is constantly sharing ways on how to enhance our workout experience. I really like this gym because no class is every alike.

Horrible customer service! doesn’t care about their members or show empathy to their fellow human. You’re just a number toward their quota & will falsely do things to your account. I’ve been charged unwarranted and placed in classes I’ve never taken

This location seems to be very disorganized and the staff has not been welcoming. I tried to attend a class over the weekend, but being a new attendee I was told to come back a different day and arrive 20 minutes early. I was told an appointment wasn’t needed and to just show up early next time. Per my instructions, I arrived a couple days later 25 minutes early. They lock their doors (which is bizarre) so I couldn’t actually enter and waited until a guest let me in. I was greeted by a rude employee who complained multiples times about how “she shouldn’t be working tonight because it was too busy.” We all have rough days at work, but she did nothing to hide her frustrations. She had no problem spending time trying to sell a package to a guest, but for a new customer like me she made no time. I assume based on her behavior she gets a commission for sales. By the time she was willing to help me, class was starting in 5 minutes and there wasn’t enough time to give me a tutorial so she asked me to come back another day. I ended up wasting 30 minutes and burned no calories. If you’re a new customer, save yourself 30 minutes and $30 and use one of the several other fitness studios in the area where you’ll actually get a workout and better service.

The staff is super friendly, the workouts are only 1 hour and VERY effective, and the overall energy of the room is great! While the workouts are tough they are manageable for everyone, even those with orthopedic restrictions. You always leave feeling better than when you came in!

I took my first Orangetheory class at the South Loop location, and it was a great experience all around. Mo was a personable, knowledgeable, and motivating coach. The entire front desk staff had positive energy, and Morgan in particular helped me to get oriented and situated. After taking class, I understand the hype surrounding the workout. It's well thought-out, highly energizing, and lots of fun. I definitely plan on returning!

This location has wonderful customer service. Jossie was lovely and helped me from an initial phone call to greeting me w/ a tour. Marcos was my instructor, he gave great direction and facilitated a fun/hardworking class! I had an amazing visit. Thank you for helping me stay committed to my fitness plan!

I joined OrangeTheory in December, mainly because there are two studios within walking distance of where I live. But the variety of the classes keeps me coming back. The coaches are awesome at both locations I frequent (South Loop & McCormick) and I always feel better after a class, even when I'm winded and worn out :) Very happy I joined.

Went here for a strength lower class when my studio was closed and had Dezzy as a coach. She made the class feel rushed, wasn't patient or kind, and got easily frustrated if people weren't doing things correctly. She wasn't engaging at all. Would not go back here and am not comfortable providing my real name.

Great place to workout. The loop location isn’t very busy, tons of open availability for classes, equipment and treadmills. Very clean location. Also have access to the other 3 clubs on the weekends.

One star not because the workouts or instructors weren't great. They were. I loved doing OTF. However, there was a giant miscommunication when it came to ending my membership due to financials and no effort to understand how there was blame on both sides and now I am being charged for another month for which I can barely afford. I cancelled my membership a month before the next billing cycle because that's what I was told in the beginning of signing up to make sure if I wanted to quit that I do that at least 30 days before the next billing cycle and I was told I need to be a member for at least 2 months. I did that and I did that during the "get one month free" promo. So I paid for one month and got another month free. By the end of the first month, I cancelled the membership so that I would not be charged for my third month of OTF and I continued going to OTF for my last month. They did not inform me that the "two month membership minimum" meant "two month billing cycles minimum". So I signed up to get the one month free thinking I'll do OTF for two months total. But they still charged me for the month of January. When I called to tell them that I was not made aware of this rule when signing up and if something can be done about this because I can't afford it and I don't have the time to make it to classes for another month - the lady I talked to very bluntly said that there's nothing she can do because I signed the contract. When I tried explaining that it was not made clear to me when I first signed up or even when I was cancelling in person, she dismissed it quickly and basically told me it's my fault for not understanding the contract clearly. she told me I am able to continue coming to classes but I explained that I wont even be able to due to my hectic schedule and the only offer she gave me was to freeze my account and allow me to come back in 60 days to use those 30 months of OTF that I did not want to pay for . I am very disappointed that they did not do anything to make right the miscommunication that happened. There should have been a refund exception for this or some sort of compensation for this not being verbally communicated to me about the rule. I was misled into thinking I could only do the promo month and pay for one month.

Love love love this gym. I’m an early riser so while the 4:45 AM class sounds like a dread to most for me and the other attendees it’s right on time. I wish those classes were everyday but guess I’ll have to settle for the 5 AM option on other days.

Phoebe is the worst and most unprofessional person and is supposedly the manager. Wouldn’t recommend this franchise at all. The class schedule is all over the place so it’s hard to go unless your work from home or have a very flexible schedule. Absolutely not worth the 200$ a month. Please note you have to give 30 days notice to cancel but they DONT tell you that when signing up so highly wouldn’t recommend overall.

Friendly staff, phenomenal coaches, great music, clean facility, and fun energy! Couldn’t ask for a better experience so far. I was someone who previously hated working out, but now I’m always looking forward to my next class. 10/10 would recommend!

I like that OTF incorporates a lot of cardio such as the treadmill, rowing and floor exercises. One of my health goals is to add more cardio which helps me lose weight. I also love that OTF is high intensity workouts but let’s you exercise in your own pace. Coach Mike, Coach Michelle and Coach Mo are amazing and helpful! I love the OTF South Loop Team! 💪
