Will be looking to cancel my membership ASAP. Was going to keep giving the gym the benefit of the doubt but it seems as though they canā€™t get it together. Most gym equipment is not working properly, canā€™t find certain free weights, sauna ceiling falling apart, trash everywhere in there, smelly. Donā€™t understand why they even charge a annual ā€œCleaning FEEā€ if they donā€™t even do the job the right way. GET IT TOGETHER XSPORT. And no, i donā€™t want a reply back saying ā€œplease call for further assistance, JUST GET IT TOGETHER. Do your job!

I just ended my four year membership with the South Loop location after my locker was broken into (see image). Patrons have experienced this type of theft for months, and it has not been addressed by the staff. They have blatantly ignored complaints and concerns. 1.) the parking garage gates are constantly broken 2.) the elevators are always down 3.) there is consistently some type of leak or maintenance in the building 4.) the bathrooms are disgusting and smell terrible 5.) there are never any functioning paper towel dispensers or cleaner in the gym 6.) it is over crowded and not enough machines 7.) all of the equipment is broken 8.) the weights are all over the place and never returned because 9.) the staff is lazy and sit at the front desk eating, talking, etc. never working 10.) poor customer service. Itā€™s cheap and you get what you pay for. I would NOT recommend this gym or franchise to my worst enemy. Zero stars if that was an option!

Iā€™ve had a membership here since September and today Feb 11, 2023. I almost injured myself badly with weights while bench pressing. This decline bench press has been damaged since I first enrolled. I told the management about it and some big Caucasian guy with tattoos supposedly the "Operations Managerā€ acted as if he would resolve the matter but claims heā€™s new to the establishment. All of the equipment here is either rusted or dis functional. Iā€™m gonna request a cancellation. Itā€™s very unclean, unsanitary, disorderly. If Iā€™d injured myself today Iā€™d definitely file a lawsuit that would end this companies business affairs all together. Forever.

I love this gym, I come here to train and Rehearse. However I train/rehearse for more than 2 hours which is why I HATE the parking time limit in this location. I end up having to re park my car so I can avoid fees that can be resolved by making the limit at least 3 hours. Itā€™s a huge inconvenience which is why Iā€™m rating this location 3 stars.

I just joined this gym a few weeks ago. So far, I really only come here to run for a few miles. The price for the gym is cheaper than anything else in the neighborhood. I have used the locker room each time and itā€™s been hit or miss with cleanliness and conditions. Overall my experience so far has been fine. Iā€™ll come back and update my review as I spend more time here and try things out.

Been here for 7 months, on a weekly basis (very consistent in coming here since I live nearby). I really wish they would clean the womens bathroom upstairs more and provide paper towels and nice scents. They have a locker room, and it is OK. I think they can focus on cleaning those areas more. However, the weight area is doing better- they've removed ellipticals near the green area so as to allow more space for cross training. I very much approve of this! The weights are a mess during peak hours and although I do put mine back, not everyone does. Wish that gym culture would change.

Thereā€™s a young man that works the desk when Iā€™m there at 5am Monday through Thursday. He started maybe within the last 6 Mo - 1 year. His upbeat personality is the sole reason why I am even rating this on google. I sincerely think he is one of the best workers Iā€™ve ever come across. He wishes EVERYBODY a good day and a workout. Good work deserves to be recognized. Pay him more or at least let him know his work isnā€™t going unnoticed. As for the gym, you canā€™t beat free parking but the overall place could be cleaner. The rims in the basketball gym need a serious replacement. We all understand that management doesnā€™t care about the type of folks that tend to play hoops but not everyone that does is looking to start trouble. Fix the rims and the unbalanced floors. I do recognize the recent fixes - new paint, new turf, cardio machines. Keep improving and getting better. That area needs a gym to be proud of.

I love the girl that worked tonight, she was extremely friendly and greeted with a beautiful smile. When I used to come I notice she is the only person who doesnā€™t find working there dreadful. The other girl with bangs and red hair was extremely rude, spoke to me like I was some discarded person, with the intention to ignore me until another customer told her to respond to me. Also, I thought it was supposed to be 24 hours? I havenā€™t been back at the gym for a few months but I came back on Christmas eve at 4 and they were closed. Thatā€™s okay, I came back again on January 2nd, closed again. Work has been busy so I was so excited to finally work out during the holidays, and you are closed! In the future please find a way to communicate with your customers. Email, or call. All the machines are always occupied!! Furthermore, I see some personal trainers intentionally ignoring/bullying another personal trainer, please be friendly to each other. Being toxic wonā€™t get you too far in life and yā€™all are too grown for this. With this environment, I might go back to LAFitness or consider Planet fitness too. Xsport has been disappointing with their professionalism. Iā€™d say I grew an attachment with you guys, but now it doesnā€™t feel worth it to stay.

The gym is pretty decent. Thereā€™s always some one cleaning... but the staff... not friendly at all... I think thereā€™s like two people at the front that are decent. The rest are rude.. they donā€™t make you feel welcome. And are a absolutely not there to help. You say hi and they just ignore you. My thing is if you donā€™t like your job then quit and get a job that you donā€™t have to talk to people.. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Came here because I just moved to the area and wanted to explore gyms nearby, I usually go to equinox but wanted to check out something closer to my house. After waiting for a good 5-10 min for a sales associate he said I canā€™t get it without proof of living in Chicago. So I wasnā€™t able to try it out , letā€™s just say this wasnā€™t a good first time experience and doubt Iā€™d come back. If I do Iā€™d be happy to update my experience at this location.

Space is great. Facility is not very clean every time I show up no matter the time thereā€™s stuff all over the floors in the bathroom all over the facility no one is ever cleaning the place. I guess they have spray bottles and expect us to do the cleaning which is fine. I do it but does everybody itā€™s not planet fitness see you guys should have some type of cleaning going on. Check the bathrooms every hour or so stop expecting us to do right the world is it right but you guys can clean up fix saunas add air freshener to the bathrooms. Itā€™s thinks itā€™s a dirty. Iā€™m going to call and find out how to cancel my. Membership if nothing is done this is my third month going up there to see the same thing and have to complain every time. For what you charge monthly come on man you can clean the place itā€™s just like going to planet only difference is the price. I also go there at six in the morning for a spin class and thereā€™s a little spin class fix your schedule if no oneā€™s gonna show updated.

This place has the potential to be great, the equipment, the space, I can get a great workout here for sure! What is bad is the staff, little to no enforcement of the rules, the clientele can get out of hand, jackets being layed out on benches/ equipment, trash, dumbbells scattered about especially in main workout area, I've seen people with no business working out layed out on floor connected to an outlet with full street clothes and coat, people up to no good hanging out making the environment feel unsafe at times. Improve the staff, pay more, get rid of the $9.99 price tier, charge for the parking, up the rates and equipment people in this area can afford to pay more for a secure safe upgraded place! And stop false advertising for 24hr gym, it is not right! I'm paying forty something a month because I can only workout at night and I haven't been able to use this gym barely since the beginning of the new year! So ridiculous šŸ™„

This place is a disaster, I wouldnā€™t recommend for anyone. I have so many complaints. One is that I witness a non service dog on turf, Xsport never sanitize turf or any areas in gym. They have construction tools all over the establishment where my hand landed on a screw while working out. The operation manger wouldnā€™t allow me in because I was 1 day past due and turned me around. I witness a general manager Mustafa argue with an employee on the floor, verbally fired him out loud and lied to police advising he threaten his life. Tried to call corporate and cancel membership only to get hung up on by Debbie another manger. This place steals your money and do not accommodate members. Very unprofessional!!!

Omg I've been going to multiple xsport locations for 8 years. I used to go to this location all the time. Id have to say that that this location has gone down hill and is by far the worst. I have taken months off because poor hygiene and cleaning practices. It smells so putrid. I live 5 min away but drive 20 min to the next closest location. The funks comming from this place, wether from poor ventilation, improper cleaning, or just the funky people who workout there are a force to be reckoned with. Not sure if the South Loop location has a ban on deodorant. I have left multiple workouts because the gym stinks.i have vomited just by walking in the building.

Staff are always just sitting at the desks eating (gainz bro!) or socializing. No one cleaning or maintaining equipment. Light bulbs burnt out, elevator about to collapse etcā€¦ Dumbbells are always all over the place. And very crowded past 5pm after work Equipment is very worn and outdated compared to Xport on Broadway or streeterville, Also not enough equipment for the customer flow. Wish it was nicer since itā€™s so close to home. Itā€™s worth the drive to go elsewhere.

Tanning beds are always broken. You get up there and are ready to tan and the bed wonā€™t turn on, then the front desks staff tell youā€™re trying to turn it on wrong (thereā€™s a start and stop button, not difficult to figure out) and then nobody will come up to fix it and they say, oh sorry, guess you canā€™t tan todayā€¦.same with the pool, broken and they wonā€™t even have a sign up. The pool heater is still broken after 4 months.

Front desk staff is rude an unprofessional. The parking validation was not working, so the girl at the front desk told me to go ahead and work out and that she would take care it after I finished my workout. Well after my workout she was gone, so I guess that was her way of taking care of it. I then tried to explain my situation with the guy at the front desk but he just kept pointing to the broken parking validation machine and says read it. All he had to do was explain how to handle the situation with the parking garage but nope he just kept saying read the machine. This is horrible customer service and I would not advise anyone to join this gym. Will be canceling my membership and going to a gym where customers are valued.

Nice facilities, the pool/sauna are a huge plus for me. Cleaning staff does a great job every night. 24 hr access to tanning also a plus. Reason I cant give full 5star rating is due to the poor attitude of the front desk. If Quality customer service is necessary for you id find another gym. Temporarily closed at 11pm

The worst gym ever. They are scammers. When you join, they will say itā€™s only $20 per month and no other fee but itā€™s a lie. They charge you $60 after first month for maintenance fee and if you cancel they charge additional $10 You can only cancel in person. It stinks and very dirty. Stay away.

Ive been trying to cancel my membership and I still keep getting billed. I sent the a via letter to the address the website provides for cancellation request. I tried calling but no one ever answers. I recently got charged $138.85 last week. Not sure why that ridiculous amount!! I need Xsports to cancel my damn membership. With people losing their jobs and corporate places like Xsports donā€™t care they just want to take your money!

Pros - Convenient ( cheap, plenty of equipment, plenty of space in the early morning/late evening, & plenty amenities). Cons - customer service & just the people overall that come to this gym. 5 stars goes to the Piper Alley location. Longer drive but better vibes.

Been a member for years and in true top of the year fashion wanted to get back in the groove. I hope there is a missing operations manager or they are hiring a new cleaning crew. Coming to the gym and equipment and spray bottles are broken is not acceptable. I'm going to give it a couple more months to see if it improves with the new volume or I really just need to move on.

Great place for a gym and for 49.99 to all gym locations you can't beat it. Though the caveat is some of the locations hot tubs are always down and sometimes when it's in busy peek times it's hard to find an open machine. Though admittingly the 24 hour is a good bonus to go in off hours.

If you can avoid state st xsportā€¦please do! I hate to leave such a poor review for my ppl but Iā€™m sorry These ppl are scam artists & The workers are freakin creeps! They will do whatever to reach quotaā€¦.even if it means doing fraud! Check your cardsā€¦.they are good for double even triple charging and then saying they canā€™t do anything. Gym is always dirty and the nasty attitudes I get coming in and leaving out are just too much. I go 20 minutes past state st just to go to the xsport on north ave (pipers alley)and when I tell you ā€¦.complete difference. Gym is always clean. Even when itā€™s crowded it doesnā€™t feel crowded and everyone their is super respectful of one another. The staff @ north ave actually work and not and harass their guestsā€¦.and they are ALWAYS kind and helpful! That goes a long way! I donā€™t want to spend my money somewhere and be made uncomfortable! I just refuse! Save yourself the frustration stay farrrrrrr away from xsport on state stā€¦ā€¦unless you like the circus!

PSA: For some reason, this location doesnā€™t offer towel service, like every other XSport Iā€™ve been to. If you want to swim or bathe here, bring your own towel. First time at this location today, not sure how Iā€™m supposed to shower before heading out to carry on with my day. Otherwise pretty standard as far as XSports go...you get what you pay for. Update: Check out this bottle of hand san near the squat racks. During a pandemic. Anyone else see the irony?

Been a member here for roughly 7-8 years. Dependable workout locationā€¦24 hours, usually clean, much safer when we had plainclothes off-duty CPD in the evenings, but I digress. Great gym experience until I had to prove vaccination. Would have been 5 stars if XSport had not bent the knee.

Gym equipment is decent. But the reviews were right. The weights are everywhere, it is crowded, and the staff sees you as a dollar sign! I don't mind it but if you do, take that into account. If you sign up online, which I reccomend, come get your key tag before a manager clocks in. When you come in an associate will sit you down, give you a tour, go over your fitness history, and at the end will try to upsell you fitness training (if I recall correctly $400 dollars a month for 3 days a week). If you're on the fence, they will literally shame you and say passive aggressive comments to coax into paying that outrageous fee. The associate told me that I am not being serious about my health if I do not sign up. The associate then proceeded to tell me that if I don't, I'll be getting "39 dollar results" (price of their monthly fee). I guess he was trying to insinuate that by ONLY paying $39.95 for Xsport's Premium Power Pass you won't get desired results. Which would then lead me to assume they are not confident in the services offered for their 39.95 membership. Luckily, I'm only here for the equipment and not the predatory customer service. Here are some tips to avoid being hassled: do your research, sign up online to avoid unnecessary upselling, and stand your ground. They will throw every sales trick at you and you have to tell them NO multiple times. If you think this was an isolated incident, wrong. The general manager was sitting right behind us and could've stepped in but didn't.

The place is a mess and overcrowded. Half the equipment is "out of order." The managers and trainers are way, way, wayyy too focused on sales. I signed up online to avoid their hour-long sales pitch, and I still had to sit through it. The general manager kept insisting that it was just "optional, but I told them no like 4 times telling them that I don't need or want the help or to pay a $250 down payment for a once a week training session, and they still kept pushing to get me to buy it. I get that that's how they're making their money, but there are ways to make sales without so explicitly showing that your're trying to take advantage of people.

This gym use to be the shhhh but unfortunately after Covid-19 they didnā€™t have the same up keep when they did when it first open. Some of the machines are still old and not up to date and the Jacuzzi doesnā€™t have the same effects and enjoyment. Itā€™s okay šŸ‘Œ for a short workout Nothing to serious because of the up keep in it.

I recently rejoined last summer after initially being a member back In 2011-2012. It was a much better gym back then, it was clean, equipment wasnā€™t broken. They even had a smoothie bar for pre or post workout. Now itā€™s just a ghost of itself, the bathrooms/locker rooms are disgusting. Homeless people are allowed to just hang out and sleep, I seen roaches in a few lockers. Thank god they changed the shower curtains before they were filled with mold and mildew. The steam room works for one week then proceeds to be broken for the next month. What happened to this place? For this to be a location in downtown Chicago itā€™s a sad sad excuse of an establishment considering there is competition all throughout downtown.

Great gym for in and out work. Not the gym you would want to shower and change in. Much less step in the pool or steam room. Thatā€™s even if the steam room works. Customer service made me take 2 more stars away !!! Spa service was set up as a promotion for 30 days and subscribed obviously if not cancelled. Cancelled after 3 sessions because InfraRed Sauna was making me break out. To this day they have yet to refund me yet have the audacity to continue to contact me about Spa Deals. Again for quick workout in and out itā€™s great compared to other places. Other than that join another gym !!!

It was great to be able to purchase a day pass and enjoy the pool and morning class. Staff was very helpful abd friendly (Carla). The location can boast the enormous size, however it would benefit from touch - ups of the pool (very silent there as well-no vibe), towels availability and blow dryers in the locker room. Classes choices are not extensive too. Overall it is great for individual exercise.

There are so many other places to take your business, and please do so! I signed up for a membership here with Sam, and it was the worst experience. The front desk gentleman told me they only had one membership, then Sam told me they had one below it, and finally I realized there are actually a few tiers. After Sam signed me up for the wrong tier, I went back immediately and confirmed the appropriate tier I was interested in. He said heā€™d ā€œtake care of itā€ and scribbled something on a piece of paper. I assumed he knew what he was doing so didnā€™t follow up. Come to find out that he had actually added a SECOND membership to my name (obviously to try and hit his target) and I was being double charged the enrollment fee, membership fee and every other fee associated. Eventually Matt (I think is his name) had helped me finally figure it out, I though. Turns out they can only message ā€œcorporateā€ through what looks like a 1994 messaging platform. I called to cancel my membership after a month and what do you know, I have two cancellation charges. Ash was very responsive at first but he has gone silent so clear to sayā€¦. This place is a NIGHTMARE.

I signed up with this thieves club. On my first visit someone stole my credit cards from my wallet. I locked my locker with master lock that doesnā€™t require the key, and still someone managed to unlock it and go through my stuff and steal my credit cards ! That thieve made some purchases at Macys and Target. I told xsport people at the front desk about the incident but they just looked at me and said sorry and thatā€™s it. Nobody bothered to write a report just told me go to police thatā€™s it. I have read complaints people write but still gave a shot to this gym and I was robbed on my first visit on Sundays afternoon. Will never go there and definitely not recommend you to do that.

For the price, it is a decent gym. However, there is a chronic issue with them fixing anything that is broken, whether it is broken mirrors, paper towel dispensers, machines, etc. Additionally, the managers are never upstairs to assess their staff's professionalism (wearing masks, returning weights, wiping down equipment, etc ), conditions, or customer behavior (including playing loud music on personal devices without headphones, no facemasks, not wiping down equipment, and returning equipment).

If you truly want to lose that excessive weight and regain that youth strength and confidence in yourself, then exercise šŸ’Ŗ is your best bet. But keep in mind you're going into a complete lifestyle change... otherwise, you're just spinning your wheels.

It was very clean and the staff was very professional. During this pandemic, that is very important.

I've been going to this gym since 2015, even worked for them at one point, and I must say it's one of the best gyms I've been to. I like how the amenities are separated between stores and the staff is awesome. I'm also going to be realistic when I say you must be aware that this gym is located in the heart of downtown Chicago so there is a lot of traffic during the day but me being a night owl it works perfectly, they also keep things fairly clean. I also want to say that if you see any down equipment you can't blame the gym. I see fat too often on a daily basis people using equipment improperly which causes it to break malfunction and people don't realize it's a process of noting the malfunction, making a order for parts and waiting for delivery for repair. But as soon as it gets there it's repaired immediately so be patient y'all šŸ˜Š. Here's to the New Years! If you go to sign up see either Jose or Sam and tell them that Curtis sent you šŸ’ŖšŸæ.

Iā€™ve been going here for almost a year now and the staff has been great! Today I lost my keys as they fell in the stair master and the gentleman named Sharif made sure an employee was watching the front desk before he came up and lifted/unscrewed the stair master for me to retrieve my keys!

There are a lot of great classes @ this location. Love water, try Zumba in the pool. I get in and get out. A lot of times there is a musty smell. I know its a gym but it doesnā€™t need to smell like one. Like a public restroom, you know where you are, but it doesnā€™t have to SMELL.

The staff are typically nice and cool but the facility itself is horrible. The garage gates are always broken and you get stuck all the time. The basketball court and swimming pools are always closed for long periods of times without issues being fixed.

Iā€™ve been at this gym for a couple months now and I actually really like itā€¦itā€™s pretty dopeā€¦..itā€™s affordable and the different membership prices are good to work withšŸ‘Œ Though in the mens locker roomā€¦.it can be a hit or miss with the cleaning but for majority of the part..the cleaning is goodšŸ‘and in the mens Sauna, there NEEDS to be a BIG OL sign that says not to mess or tamper with the heat box lol The gym equipment they got here is pretty coolā€¦..the pool they got is nice and the hot tub they got here is pretty cool too! If the hot tub always had working thrusters and the mens saunaā€™s was working for at least for a month this place be phenomenalšŸ‘Œ Peace ā˜®ļø Love šŸ’Ÿ Respect šŸ¤

I called for simple question, ā€œcan I bring a guest hereā€? The front desk associate said ā€œI donā€™t knowā€, and attempted transferred me to another employee. I was on hold for 4 min until I hung up and tried a new call. I called again and another employee said ā€œhold on, give me 1 secondā€ put me on hold for 7 min, picked up the phone, and hung up right away. It took the third call to get my answer to a simple question :)

Minus one star, most of the work out machines donā€™t work at all!!! I thought that everything is gonna be in perfect condition because of the area but itā€™s worst!!! I rather go to Lyons!!

I truly hate the issues I have with the sauna it's always his lady in there keeps the door open the temp is suppose to be 200 but it's always 100 or less really pisses me off and they can't seem to fix the issue it's been going on for 4months corporate will be hearing from me very soon pay too much money to not be able to enjoy what I pay for properly šŸ˜”

Not worth the membership fees. Every second machine is broken. The space is run down. You can definitely tell this particular location is not a priority for the company.

The gym is active and full of equipments, they introduce different programs that fits many tastes and is open 24/7 as a convenient training facility. The orientation class was awesome and very informative with Couch Arian. I really recommend the place.

It was good in variety of equipment but some of the machines where not working well like the reverse pec deck. One side was noticeably heavier then the other. Also some of the members take multiple dumbbells and not let others use them.

I love it cuz its the ONLY 1 with a indoor track for those cold months. Everyone is always friendly at this location, others as well. This is the main one I use. Get membership where you pay for 1 yr and get a yr FREE. I go to others for other reasons. One on State st downtown has a pool that I LOVE and rock wall 2 climb.. its VERY high so be aware.

Staff is very friendly and if you come often enough you'll definitely make friends. Only problem is that during after-work hours, the free weight area is VERY busy. People aren't always considerate and don't put their weights away when they finish with them. Other than that, it's an XSport, you know what you're getting...

Friendly front desk staff, but too small of a facility. Locker room and bathroom (menā€™s) smell of urine and are dirty everyday Iā€™m here (7 days a week). And this is the worst XSport when it comes to equipment hoarding and replacing weights. Best of luck finding the dumbbells you want to use. Only come here if itā€™s the middle of the night or before 9 am.

Been going here for about 6 months now. This gym is always dirty. Equipment is constantly ripped and rarely replaced. Attachments (especially rope) are always missing. Machines out of order for weeks at a time. There are so many TVs in the gym but less than half are turned on and the half that is turned on are just static screams. Locker rooms are horrible. Smells like sewer and BO on the daily. Floors are never sweeped or mop. Water fountain needs a serious update. Never fold and still using the push one instead of a newer bottle sensores version. 2nd floor bathrooms are never clean. Iā€™m here 5 out of 7 days of the week in the afternoons or around midnight and this is always the case.
