This place is legendary. A time capsule of body building and strength culture. 40k sq ft of machines from all generations. I spent a solid hour just walking around looking at the photos on the walls. The owner Dave was there both days we were there and was super helpful and accommodating. If you're into strength sports this is a must-visit.

The only thing good about this place is a variety of lift equipment. The rest is iffy: showers - no soap and no curtains, questionable cleanness of locker rooms, no towels provided, a/c does not work properly, equipment positioned too close at times... $13 for one day pass for the above ? But if you like vintage gyms, it's totally your place.

Was in Chicago for the weekend and stopped in for a workout. Super cool gym with a wide variety of machines. Wasn’t too busy on a Saturday afternoon either.

APPARENTLY YOU GET BANNED FOR BAD REVIEWS. This place was great but it’s become flooded with too many ppl and some of the workers here make me feel like they have it out for me and give me dirty looks. It’s just extremely unprofessional and creates an unwelcoming environment for the money I pay for this gym. Not to mention most equipment here is outdated but still works very good. The space is not optimized either. At some point you’re working out shoulder to shoulder with strangers. I noticed they tried revamping the space by moving stuff around but it didn’t work. It’s def the gym to go to if you don’t care about any of that but I’ve had my fill here. I’ve been here 3 years and def won’t be renewing anymore after the month.

I've been coming to Quads for two years now and it's by far the best gym I've ever had a membership with. The equipment selection, the community, the history displayed on the walls—there's really nothing else like it. The community was hit hard with the unexpected passing of the original owner Dave mid last year, but it's since bounced back and continued his legacy.

Equipment is ok. Some of the daytime receptionists are rude and condescending so after a few months working out there I decided to move on to another gym

I was in downtown Chicago for a work trip, and needed to find a place to lift. This gym met my needs exactly. The day pass was zero hassle with no "free trial" to cancel. The people were friendly, and it had more equipment than I have seen anywhere else. The walls were lined with photos signed by people who have worked out there. No radio, it's bring-your-own-music. They also sold food for post-workout. It is what any lifting gym should aspire to be.

Visiting Chicago but I had to get my gym day on. A friend told me about this place. Home of the great Ed Coan so I had to try it out. Wow is all I have to say.. they have everything you could possibly think you want and more.

Moved to Chicago a little over a year ago. Started at the FFC right next door, but transitioned to Quads. Although Quads can feel claustrophobic, they have everything you could possibly need. Love the atmosphere, can come to the gym and be an apeman and you fit right in. If you’re a no bs type of person, you’ll love this place.

Not many gyms can compare to this one. It’s got equipment from the 80s and brand new all in great condition! Classic old school gym that can’t be duplicated!

Don’t let the neighborhood locals fool you, the gym needs to update/replace MOST of the equipment. The upside is that this is one of the only places that has a Versaclimber. I felt compelled to write this when I herd Dave(?) and Noe insult a paying customer. The customer was 6 feet away. They get a pass in the 1980s equipment until their customer service is downright rude. Petty, petty people.

Its not called quads in relation to the muscle, its because you will want to spend 4 hours here. Place is amazing. They have soo much stuff its just unreal. Its all packed in together pretty tight but you will see so much equipment you have never seen before. I think there could be 400 machines in here. They have machines dedicated to your fingers. Owner was great and super friendly. Not a place to go look at girls but there are some MF monsters in there. If you live anywhere near this gym and you train anywhere else you are fkn crazy. If you do not live locally its going to be depressing going back to your home gym😂

ALL the free weight strength equipment you need... This is obviously THE place to build big muscles. Very tightly packed workout space, but few other guests working out when I visited

Super great space to work out. They have everything you would ever need for weights and machines. On the other side of the same coin, they have a ton of equipment and it is a bit cramped. Still, you can see the history of the place with the decorations and the equipment. It’s like a history lesson on the evolution of gym equipment.

Literally all the equipment you can possibly need. Friendly staff, there is no better “bodybuilding” gym anywhere else in Chicago. A little expensive, but worth it

The best gym in Chicago for weightlifting, period. Plenty of equipment, the clientele is well behaved, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the pricing structure is straightforward with no gimmicks or contracts.

Great gym, great community, great staff. It's quite dirty and could use some expanding but for serious lifters who just get in and get out it's a great gym.

I love this gym. As a new gymmer, this is the first time in my life I feel I wanna continue going to the gym. Quads contain a big saloon, very good air conditioning, multiple options and equipments for each exercise, great light, and tons of other enthusiasts. Quads creates a contingent interest for all members. Dave is a great manager, able to maintain a healthy culture in the gym as well. Overall I am happy to have this gym in the neighborhood.

Been coming to this gym for a couple of years and it had been great until recently when they opened a “cafe” inside. They now cook BACON regularly and the entire gym reeks of bacon smell which makes me a little nauseous when working out. 🤮

My personal trainer comes highly recommended. I've been with her for a long time and have gained considerable arm, leg, and ab strength. She inspires me to be the best version of myself every day. Simply choose her if you want to achieve a physically fit body!

Awesome gym not far from downtown. Went for a day pass workout, variety of strength equipment is unmatched. It’s crammed in there pretty tight but it’s a great hardcore bodybuilding style gym.

Dave is a great guy, he's incredibly easy to speak to. The sign up is a smooth and quick process that doesn't include arduous cancellation processes like other gyms. What's really important about this place though is the culture that resides here. It is THE BEST gym I have ever been to. If you want to seriously get in shape and be surrounded by others who want to do so as well, this is your first and last destination. You're surrounded by others who friendly, serious about working out, and have very good gym etiquette. Nobody leaves weights laying on the floor, everything is put back into place, bars are stripped and everyone washes their station down after usage. This sounds like a minor gripe, but I've been to gyms where people think it's OK to just leave stuff around - this isn't the case at Quads. There's MORE EQUIPMENT then you can ever possibly imagine - seriously, Dave is basically an Iron Porter and has new machines developed to push you coming in on what feels like a weekly basis. You're never going to find yourself waiting for machines. Each floor is packed wall to wall with tools to improve and use. This includes cardio and strength training. On top of it, you've got history on every wall from over the decades of the great power lifters and bodybuilders who have utilized Quads Gym throughout their careers. Huge motivation to leave the locker room and see photos of Arnold and Ed Coan pressing real weight. I know this is a long read but if you're considering it at this point, stop by and just see for yourself. Dave has truly built a special place that will be a real destination for a long long time.
