I started coming to this gym during the pandemic and I’ve never left. It is the best gym vibe in the world and now what I consider home. The owner is wonderful and cares so much about his members. It’s got the best community/family feel, all the equipment you could ever need and the employees keep the place in tip top shape. I drive 45 minutes every day from the city just to come here.

Iron Mine Gym is a fantastic gym for all levels of fitness! I started my membership in July and I just renewed for a year membership because of the great, down-to-earth atmosphere of this gym! Everyone is so friendly! The owner, Joe, is great, very welcoming, and encourages communication if you need anything! He always makes sure everyone is comfortable and helps create an atmosphere where everyone is supportive. Unlike other gyms, there is never a wait for a machine and never anyone staring at you while working out because the machines are well spaced throughout the gym. This is a huge plus and makes me feel so comfortable working out and getting in the zone. Joe’s personality and the way he runs his gym have definitely helped me to stick to my fitness journey and I couldn’t imagine working out anywhere else! 15/10 definitely recommend this gym if you want to work out with a supportive community that never makes you feel out of place!

I recently became a member at Iron Mine and the experience has been nothing short of exceptional. This is coming from long time Corporate Gym member. Few items that stood out to me is the cleanliness of the facility, regular upkeep of equipment and strong adherence to gym etiquette. Seeing staff members like Adam or Joe walking around inspecting that all equipment is operating correctly and areas are clean of any debris are excellent visual queues that effectively communicate expectations to every member, fostering a culture where members are respectful of shared spaces. Everyone seems to be on the same page, promptly wiping down equipment and returning weights, creating a positive and considerate atmosphere. Only area of concern is how hot it will get inside during the warmer months. I enjoy working out in a colder environment when ever possible. I highly recommend Iron Mine to anyone looking for a clean, well-maintained gym that prioritizes adherence to gym etiquette. It's a testament to their commitment to providing an outstanding fitness environment

Words cannot begin to describe this gym. The atmosphere is well above any other I’ve ever been to. The selection of weights, bars, machines, and plate loaded equipment is vast and always improving. The environment is clean and organized. And the best part… The Iron Mine Pups! Even if you have a dog allergy I’d still recommend coming here because they make any day into a great one. If you’re looking for a home filled with people to welcome and motivate you look no further.

Ive been going here ever since they opened the city back up, and I have loved it very much. I used to go to X-Sport and even though this may be smaller and not a big commercial gym, this is by far a million times better. Iron Mine is always organized and clean, the community is focused on working out and not wasting time so most of the time the equipment is available. Everyone is friendly and respectful, and to themselves. The gym is packed to the brim with amazing equipment of all kinds from new to old, and I appreciate the quickness to fix any broken machine. Thank you Joe and all iron mine employees for providing an awesome experience!

Iron mine gym has made the gym for me and many others a paradise to be at. From the cleanliness to the super unique equipment, but most of all it’s community. The welcoming, friendly and diverse atmosphere has ensured they are good people in the world and in the fitness industry especially. It’s a welcoming gym from beginners to elite athletes it accommodates everyone and their fitness goals. It’s a gym I believe all gyms should strive to be like.

Best gym in the city. Atmosphere is intoxicating and motivating. Started lifting here in high school, left state for a bit, and 5 years later rejoined and wow has this gym evolved. I've been an Iron Mine member since March of 2023 and have too many good things to say. The atmosphere is unmatched, everyone there just gets it. Members are respectful, clean up after themselves and best of all everyone is very nice. No judgment if you will. The equipment is top tier and a big plus is that this is a true 24/7 gym with key fob access. The staff genuinely cares about the gym and the well being of all the members. I've interacted with Mikey and Joe and they have both been great. The biggest investment one can make is on themselves and I can't imagine not coming here.

Since joining in January 2022 I figured this would be a fair amount of time to trial this gym before leaving a review. Joined this gym today for a week from being off of work. 15min away from my home. Will definitely come back for when I have days off my regular area gym near my school. The staff and prices are unbeatable and it’s been awhile I have been to a Chicago local gym . This place was very enjoyable for me. Everyone was very helpful with my questions. I didn’t have any problems. People come to lift. Motivated me much more to push through my workouts in a positive environment.

Love this place and probably at some point I will be canceling my Xsport membership. I'd much rather give my money to a smaller family owned gym and watch them grow. This place has everything you need to get in, get your workout done, and get out. Never cramped, love the atmosphere, and can't wait to see what expansion they have planned 👏🏻.

When they say there’s no place like home. This gym, definitely has that feeling. No matter what experience you have people don’t judge one another. This is a hidden gem of a gym in a city full of Globo Gyms. Joe and his crew run a great operation here. Super welcoming environment, equipment is constantly being cleaned, busy but virtually never packed. You can tell Joe really cares about providing a great product- always looking for ways to improve, asking for member feedback, etc. Can't recommend enough.

I just signed up today but this place is a gem. It took 20-30 minutes for the entire tour and membership process and I was off on my own for my first workout. I was there during “peak” time but there was plenty of room and almost no one doing chest on an international chest day (Monday). So it was perfect for me. I can tell I’m going to have a wonderful time here going forward. If you’re a bit tired of the commercial gym vibe, and want to see what a bodybuilding gym is like, you need to check this place out.

Lots of talk about a community, which is amazing, but my favorite features are the equipment and the ability to walk in and do what I need to without too much bother. I’m not very social so for me to just get my business done and leave while still having the option to talk with a lot of passionate people about sweat and iron is great combination to have at your gym.

The environment at this gym is immaculate! The people are friendly and the gym has very supportive environment. On one of my first visits I watched a group of members gathered around to cheer on another member on the their PR. I had never witness such camaraderie at a gym. This places is one huge family. Joe has really created something irreplaceable at this gym. If and when you decide to join I promised it will be one of the best decisions you will ever make!

This place is great. 24 access is convenient and it’s never extremely packed like other franchise gyms. Joe, the owner, is personable, professional, and very accommodating. I only had a brief stint but it was well worth the time and money I spent. I highly recommend this gym!

Instantly became my favorite gym! As someone who takes her weight lifting very seriously, I needed to find a gym over my summer break from college to continue working hard. Every gym I turned to was either so crowded that it was impossible to get a lift in, had frustrating staff, or was trying to rope me into a year long contract. I began losing hope pretty quickly. I finally made an appointment with iron mine and the moment walked in I knew I was signing up that day. It has the best atmosphere (no creepy men or judgmental people), was not over crowded (even around 5pm), and has staff that really seem to care and that are extremely helpful. It has all the equipment you could need and if things break they get them fixed as fast as possible. I am genuinely so sad to be leaving this gym and I would recommend it to absolutely everyone. Anytime I’m back in Chicago I plan to make it my goal to come back in for a lift.

I love it here, I’d go everyday if my schedule would allow me. The owner just oozes passion and its reflected in the gym, even if it is a bit of a smaller gym it’s still jam-packed with every machine you would ever need. Excellent gym, can’t wait to go back. (They have a pendulum squat :O)

I am so thankful I found this gym through my coach! The gym atmosphere is welcoming and the owner and staff are friendly and helpful. They have pretty much all the equipments you'll ever need. The members are also very friendly so you won't feel intimidated. Definitely better than commercial gyms!

The owners are great at making you feel welcomed, especially if you’re a new member. When you walk in here, the atmosphere is a dynamic mix of professional body builders and professional first responders whom come here to increase their peak strength. The managers are also very amenable to any questions you have. And on top of the new equipment they recently introduced to the gym, they have plans for promising new stuff.

Textbook body building gym. Great environment with a large variety of equipment. Atmosphere is fantastic and everyone including the staff was very accommodating and friendly. If I was a Chicago native this would hands down be my go to gym, if you’re just stopping by the guest pass is 10 dollars and is a great deal.

The gym also has a ton of equipment and I have never had to wait more than a few minutes to use a machine or piece of equipment. Iron Mine is the best gym in the around. I first signed up in 2018 and loved it from day one. It had everything and Joe works constantly to add more unique equipment and even an entire extra storefront. The membership is top notch and will keep you coming back. Perfect gym. Great community atmosphere, every shape and size in the gym, tons of space and equipment. Started here when I was out of shape and was able to get advice and tips from everyone there, every single person is approachable. Leaving the gym because I am moving out of the area but I will 100% visit for day passes in the future. Great work Joe!

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this gym? The best part about Iron Mine is its supportive and inclusive community. Everyone is welcomed here. Joey especially prioritizes creating a great training environment. I've seen equipment get updated here more than I've seen machines get fixed at Xsport. The music. The dogs. The posing room. My buddy, Anthony, introduced me to Joe and his gym, Iron Mine, a few days ago. Honestly, I wish I lived closer so I can train there every day. Joe is a real gentleman, and I can tell he is passionate about having a positive environment for people to train at. Iron Mine has a variety of gym equipment; furthermore, things I had never seen before like the fat bells. Great music too, didn't need my headphones. Overall, I had a great experience, and I will definitely be back.

When I made the switch from my local gym to Iron Mine I had zero regrets. I’ve been asked by friends and relatives why I choose to go here, -the answer is there are so many like minded people in this gym. Everyone is very welcoming, the owner is always looking at things to add to the gym, and that is something that makes me feel like going here is the best choice I could’ve made. I’m a good 20-30 minutes away from the location whereas my local gym is 10 minutes away. However, the quality of the gym, the people, and the atmosphere of the place always makes the drive worth it.

Came in and had one of the greatest lifts of my journey. Adam took care of me and was very caring towards my personal needs within a gym. Place is clean, organized, and the vibe is very “get to work.” Looking to keep this as my consistent gym for a long time.

This is by far my favorite gym in the Chicago area. Before this gym I was going to Xsport and just hated everything about it. I decided to give this gym a try and immediately felt at home. Its a little smaller but the environment and atmosphere is on a different level and make it worth while. It's got everything you would ever need and the people here are serious about fitness. They aren't on their phones and texting the whole time taking up machines. People get in and handle business and move on. I've met a lot of great people here and made some cool connections and I only look forward to what the future has in store here. If you're on the fence about joining a more serious gym I would absolutely recommend giving this one a shot. You wont be disappointed. Iron Mine Gym is the place to take your training to the next level.

Today was my first day back since they closed.. I was impressed, after you sign in , temperature check, they hand you a bottle of disinfectant. The locker room was clean, no odor, spotless, I noticed they have 3 cleaning people constantly cleaning, everybody was wearing a mask, and they hare great social distancing set up for all equipment.

Not your average gym. Which is great. I was tired of the big, always crowded, gym life prior to coming to Iron mine. I wanted to join an atmosphere where obtaining your goals was the prize. Enter Iron mine which I found on this very platform, searching for a no nonsense, just work gym. Spoke to Joe the owner and he was no short of amazing, answered all my questions, had left his gym open 24/7 with fob access and had innovative workout machines and techniques that would allow me to maximize my potential. The rest was all up to me. Flash forward I definitely received more than I bargained for, the community within the gym was nothing short of family. We shared laughs, stories, the trainers work there are amazing. They won't hesitate to answer a question you may have, show you a different way of doing something and correct you if they see you about to do something they would deem to cause you injury. Their services are available for 1 on 1 sessions where they truly push you to obtain your goals. Fantastic gym etiquette, The community challenges you, pushs you and compliments you. Something I hadn't had since I was in the Marine Corps. I highly recommend this gym if your looking to getaway from people not racking their equipment, not wiping it down, sitting on equipment while talking or facetiming when all your doing is trying to work. This gym eliminates those habits to make the gym more enjoyable to attend. I have since moved but will always come back to Iron mine when I'm in town. Its a home away from home.

Iron mine is the greatest place I ever found. I use to go to xsport but ever since I switched to iron mine I will never be going back. Joe is a passionate owner who will always reply to his guests in a timely manner no matter what the issue is. He works around the clock to make sure that his members are happy and is always adding new equipment to suffice gym needs. He is always helpful with workout tips if you were to ever need it. He truly cares about his members and the best part is remy & bo to cheer your gains on!

I completely Love iron mine gym, it is a private owned gym, which when I was looking for gym memberships really sparked my eyes, and had an x-port membership in the past and I don’t think any gym can compare to iron mine, the energy is great in there, I’ve never had a problem with having to wait for equipment like at x-port when it’s always packed in there, and the people there also are great and never leave their weights around which really is a great sign for me when I first got there. If anyone is looking for a gym membership I would 100% recommend getting a membership at iron-mine gym.

Love this place after literally the first day. People are very friendly and are willing to help you out with any questions unlike xsport employees who don’t know the difference between a dumbbell and barbell. Great staff and atmosphere, gym gives off hardcore vibes and just makes me want to get more pumped then ever. 10/10 would recommend this gym to anyone who is about the gains and sick of mainstream gyms.

This gym my not be as big as xsport but the people that go to this gym are the nicest people on earth. The owner of the gym “Joe” is probably the most laid back guy ever but he gets the job done and is very easy to make conversation with. The gym setup is great. Since last month the doors had to close because of covid-19 I miss going to the gym 💪 and I can't wait for it to reopen so we can all get back doing the things we love to do. Don't mistake this place for a fitness center or a health club. This my friends is a GYM! And I mean that in a good way. Places like this existed before the cookie cutter sterile commercial fitness clubs took over. Of course there were fewer in number but thats where some of Chicagos top physiques emerged from. I hope this place continues to thrive.

North side’s best kept secret, clean respectful and all the specialized equipment for an advanced trainer. I’ve been training since 1992, all the way from the west to east coast, couldn’t be happier with the layout, rating one of my top 3 places to train. Young man , a lot vested gives me comfort to know the doors will stay open- highly recommended

If you're in the market for a new gym, I cannot recommend this place enough. Truthfully, it is one of my favorite places on the planet thanks to the amount of effort that Joe and the rest of the staff have put in to make it everything it is. I particularly have spoken with Adam quite a bit, and he has done a fantastic job of accommodating me and making it very, very easy to renew my membership whenever I happen to be in town. I only wish I could give 6 stars, absolutely incredible.

Iron Mine is a no-nonsense spot for a solid workout. I've been here for 7 weeks now, and the atmosphere is all about getting things done and pushing to improve. The equipment stays clean, and the temperature keeps you comfortable. There's a good variety of machines and weights, and I appreciate the new wall clamp for the landmine bar. The spacing near the cable machines in the first room can get a bit tight, especially during busy hours. It's not a major issue, just something to be aware of during prime time. The gym consistently makes changes, including adding more equipment and replacing old gear; any concerns about worn attachments or weights will likely be addressed promptly. Management is very open to feedback and conversations about improvements for the gym and each member's comfort.

Ever since I made the switch from a corporate gym to Iron Mine, I’ve been so much more content with my workouts. Every machine is always available, everything is super clean, and no machines are broken. This is due to Adam and his amazing management skills. I always see him taking care of gym equipment and taking care of the gym members. He is an excellent part of the Iron Mine management and I hope to see him around more.

Came for a day pass to check the place out. Such a great environment to work in and surprisingly kind and welcoming staff. No need at all to worry about finding equipment because they really had it all, plus a really cute dog. I had a great experience and cannot wait to come back!
