This gym is very good for a family, great childcare center. Also, the diner is amazing. Very clean and lots of gym equipment to chose from. They need to work on getting better personal trainers.

They charged me 3 months of fees on the same day. Never reversed it. I physically walked i to the office 3 times, and emailed 2 times, still no refund given. They're fine if nothing goes wrong, but if something does, their customer service is one of the worst I've ever dealt with.

I absolutely love this place. The staff is extremely friendly and courteous. The facility is always clean. There are so many things to do you can spend quite a few hours there if you desire. The classes are average — if you’re comparing them to a class only gym like Studio Three. It can get crowded, so if you want to workout and move on, I suggest going early in the morning. There’s an “I sit on machines for a long time” crowd that is the 9am crowd - avoid at all costs. The biggest issue you’ll have at this club is dealing with the entitlement of other members. Overall I’ve met a lot of nice folks but there’s certainly a contingency of folks who’ve never been told “no” in their lives and who have no regard for others. That part can be a bit exhausting.

I have a lot of reasons that it makes sense for me to be a member here in addition to the fact that I live right across the street BUT their customer service is absolutely TERRIBLE. They don’t even try. I’ve wasted so much of my time speaking with different branches of their management and every single time I’m told that they will contact me and I never hear back from anyone. I know a few people that have had this same issue. I would expect them to at least get back to me about an issue that I’m having with billing. It makes me question how many other members here are being charged more than what they should be and just don’t realize it. I’ve given them SO many chances but at this point it’s humiliating and disrespectful so I’m cancelling my membership today and finding better service elsewhere. I’ve been a member for a few years now and it is hard to let go but id rather my money go somewhere that makes me feel like a valued member (especially considering all of the money that I spend there OUTSIDE of just the monthly membership fee)

Love East Bank, but don't make the mistake of taking a Tennis class with "Michael Fox". Quite possibly the worst "coach/instructor" I've had after a literal lifetime of playing 5 or 6 different sports. Just one of those old bitter men that feels insecure if you look different than him and will subtly suggest you "try another sport" even though it's your first lesson ever. Just the worst type of human, luckily they've mostly thrown him to the shadow realm of friday night lessons so you won't have too much of a chance of running into him. All the other tennis instructors are great and actually know what they're talking about. This guy is a liability.

Back in town for a beautiful chicago weekend day. Spent the morning at East Bank Club: spin class, weight lifting, hot yoga class. Then, in the afternoon, I stopped by the co-working space for a little bit of work, followed by a relaxing outdoor hot tub and indoor sauna. EBC is the best club in Chicago

The club has a nice workout space and equipment. The hair salon is a joke and the amount of divorced dads trying to act like college kids is disgusting. A lot of ego at this place

Great facility, super helpful staff. Come to this place and you will certainly be pampered. I can literally come and spend an entire day here. They have everything you need to not ever want to leave. Only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is due to some homosexual activities I’ve walked into a few times in the men’s hot tub area. Other than that I love love lovvvvve this place

Most of the staff is great! The facility is great! The registration people are hit or miss. Some of them are great, and others are not so great. You never know if you are going to get a friendly response or a short, rude response to your question. This is not what you would expect from the frontline of the club. Unfortunately many of the older members also give the club a bad rep. They take over, move your stuff, and just expect everyone to get out of the way and let them be. When they go to the pool, they all grab at least 25 towels (not an exaggeration) and pile them all over their chair and reserve chairs up front for their friends. We had a similar experience playing pickle ball. The second level open play class folks only want to play with their friends and with those that have been playing for a while. If you aren't in their clique they ignore you or are rude to you. Not so much of the sportsmanlike conduct that helps people learn. They just want it to be their group and no one new can join. Overall, we like the club but it is a lot like a high school clique where the in crowd tries to rule.

I just rejoined after 5 years away. The workout area is incredible as always. What has impressed me the most honestly is the hustle and passion of the employees in the dining areas (and overall). I was in the second floor dining area just ordering some lunch to go and the workers were borderline running through the kitchen trying to get everyone their food as quickly as possible while maintaining a friendly attitude and taking time to ask people how their day is going to build relationships with the members. Couldn’t be happier returning to the club.

My family and I were members of this club for over a decade. The club has everything you need, but with a recent management change, I felt the overall quality (especially the member service) got declined. It seems there were growing number of annoying non members (I could see that by how they behave.). Swimming pools were not as clean as before. Many of the good swim (and tennis) coaches for kids left. They got rid of two of the tennis courts, leaving members hard to book a court on the time they want. I still tried to like the club since I was going there for many years. When the Covid-19 started, they gave all the members two options to keep the account. So I chose one without paying any monthly fees, but they completely ignored my emails so far, and kept charging my account for two months. Then recently I found out that they had just canceled my account. If they treat 10 years old memeber this way, there is no reason I stay with them. Maybe it is just that they don't want me and my family to be there. Or they just don't care. Either way I am not going back to this once-wonderful club. So sad things can deteriorate this fast.

East Bank is that sanctimonious 48 year old aunt who thinks she's still hot but really should accept reality. Insane fees, restrictive rules, aging bones, and a stuffy river north client base make this just a super fun place to work out. If their summer party has one rain cloud they stuff everyone in their ramada inn dining room downstairs instead of the pool deck. And of course, mandating a vaccine of dubious worth for the privilege of membership in a creaky, overpriced, downtown used to be/has been relic is just wonderful. Thank you guys, I already have a doctor, You don't get to tell me what to do.

I regret my choice to join this "club". Waste of money and they acted like a second rate gym when I canceled my membership. I'm not happy I had to still pay membership dues after canceling and moving out of state.

Poor member services and follow up. Had an issue with my account which took numerous follow ups and hours of my time to fix. Eventually was able to have the issue fixed, but extremely disappointed with the service, staff just does not seem to care at all, even when the club makes egregious mistakes over and over again. If you're considering becoming a member take into account generally poor service.

None of the Cafe or restaurant food is organic. If you wanted tofu for example you get gmo tofu with Roundup pesticides. Their chicken is not free range nor organic and their meats are not from grass fed cows. Is this really a health club?

Top club in the country. Fees are high ($250 per month for an individual), but the amenities are worth it. Unbelievable locker room facilities with all of the personal care products you could imagine (hair spray, deodorant, etc.). Hundreds of complimentary classes to choose from. 4 different pools. The outdoor pool is a great place to post up on a summer afternoon to soak up the beautiful Chicago skyline

I will preface by saying I primarily go to the gym to lift free weights and use cardio machines. East Bank Club is my favorite gym I’ve ever belonged to and it’s not even close. The weight room here is fantastic, with a ton of platforms, racks, cable cross machines, and various other good stuff. I usually go in the morning to avoid the post-work rush and i rarely have to wait to use anything. EBC has made it a joy for me to come in and lift every morning. Then there are all the other offerings. The pool in the summer is my favorite hangout spot. The co-working area is basically equivalent to an added WeWork membership which would run you like $50 a month. They loan you free Hyperice massagers, they have great massage chairs, and they just added those full-leg compression massage things. Since I joined, EBC has added many new things to the weights area, which is a great sign that they are constantly trying to improve the facilities. I will note a couple of downsides. The class instructors have been hit-or-miss (mostly miss) in my experience which is OK because I don’t love classes. I wish I didn’t have to pay $24 each time to play pickleball - it should be more like $10. And the service at the rooftop Sundeck is also inconsistent. All in all I feel like I can never leave EBC, even though I’ve only gone for 4 months.

Not worth the price. Although it’s huge, it is outdated and old. The hours are not that great as well. The staff on the floor are so rude. You would think that they would have better customer service considering the price. I switched to equinox that is newer and still cheaper.

yesterday I returned to EBC after a year hiatus. I have always been very impressed with the quality of care and service at the club. The way they have adapted to covid is downright inspirational. This club is one of the best run hospitality businesses that I have experienced. I have been a member since 2001, I'd guess that about half of their current team was there when joined. This level of tenure allows for a consistency that is special. I love east bank. If I could give them six stars I would.

East Bank Club is probably the most iconic gym in Chicago. The facilities are amazing -- borderline absurd at times (there are four pools!?!?). The sauna and steam rooms are a great way to relax after a workout. They are also always renovating and upgrading various parts of the club, so things continue to get better and better. There is an indoor 1/4 mile track with a great view of the city, which I really enjoy. My only complaint is at peak hours it can get very busy. Overall an awesome gym and I'll happily continue to be a member!

I was not sure what to expect at the East Bank Club (since it as a fitness facility). I thought .. a wedding reception at East Bank Club .. really? It was excellent!! They have a cute room next to the river and the cocktail hour is up on the roof/pool area with outstanding views of the city. Fun location and it works perfectly. Management keeps everything moving smoothly and the food is delicious!! Great place to have a reception and/or party. Ray – The Connexion Band

The best of the best. We were hesitant to join because it is not inexpensive but it truly makes you want to be there. The service and facilities are top notch. We love the pools, there are always machines available, we also love spending time at the grill or in the business center. In addition, the spa and salon are so convenient and great. Also had a tremendous experience with Ian, the Aquatics Director during an open swim clinic in preparation for the chicago tri. He was so knowledgeable, patient and helpful. Would strongly recommend anyone work with him if they are looking to improve their swimming.

Mixed bag! Majority of the staff are fantastic. Noah on the front desk was an absolute credit to the club. Always in a great mood and seemed genuinely happy to be there. The facilities are great, the hub was cool to work from and the weights and machines have everything you would ever need. Unfortunately I ended up leaving due to the unpleasant atmosphere on the gym floor primarily down to the staff in the red shirts. I had a disagreement with one of those particular staff when he started turning lights off when I was in the middle of lifting. Apparently they close the weight area 30 mins before the club shuts, which is fine, but communicate that. Don’t just turn the lights off whilst scowling. Since that incident there was a toxic atmosphere nearly every time I was there. From being eyeballed during my sessions to being told I wasn’t allowed to wear a tanktop on the gym floor. Not worth the unpleasantness for the amount I was paying so I switched to LifeTime.

I like the gym and equipment a lot. But the CEO seem incapable of running a gym this large. The constant flip flopping with masks and covid policies is tiresome. The gym struggles to retain young members with alternative options - Peloton, Studio 3, and now LifeTime.

So I’ve been a “member” at East Bank Club for about a year now, but it won’t be much longer than that. I’m definitely a person who gets annoyed when people talk about race when complaining about businesses but it really feels like you have to be Caucasian to be a REAL member here. I’ve always felt unwelcome here from the staff and people around me. It wasn’t until my last experience at the pro shop that made me write this review. I walked into the shop around 7:50 because I forgot my gym shirt and needed to purchase a shirt. As soon as I walked in, the cashier said “you have 10 minutes until we close”. No greeting at all. Just a reminder that I have to leave within 10 minutes. Anyways, I purchase an EBC branded sleeveless shirt. The shirt was $85, which in my opinion was WAY overpriced for an EBC branded shirt. Again, whatever. I’ve worn size XL for the last 10+ years. The shirt I purchased was XL, but it was way too small. Very tight and short on my torso. It was like a crop top for me. I took it to the shop the next morning to exchange for a bigger size but since the tag was removed it couldn’t be returned or exchanged. I let the employee know that the size was way off, and I compared it to the shirt I currently had on. The lady gave me a very rotten attitude. I explained to her that every other store that charges $80+ for a shirt has a more lenient return policy, such as Nordstrom. Her response : “Well this isn’t Nordstrom”. Long story short, I had to donate the shirt to a homeless person because I have no need for it. I spend $225/ month on my membership, plus $30/month for a locker rental, plus 3-4 days parking fees per week, plus a meal at the restaurant nearly every day. I spend about $1,000 here per month and they can’t return an EBC shirt? I’ve always felt uncomfortable here and this was the final straw. I will be canceling my membership asap.

Was a member at EBC for about a year but left to be somewhere closer to home. Overall this is an amazing facility and has anything you could think of (spa, salon, weight rooms, food bar, tons of places to relax and study, etc.). I loved taking Pilates with Valerie and personal training with Predrag and Chris. The staff here is incredible. Respectfully, some areas could use some tweaking (i.e. customer service). Like most places, there are the good and the bad, but it’s ultimately what you make of it. Highly recommend becoming a member here if you’re really into being active.

There are barely any evening classes for folks that work during the day now. The only after work hours class used to be a yoga class which was at 8:15pm was suddenly changed to 7:30pm without warning, plus they now lock the doors when the class starts! There was No communication about why the times were changed. It used to be a better facility, it’s gradually becoming average. Management seems to be getting lazy.

East bank club used to be nice facility, I was a member for last 7 years or so. It got to be bad with pandemic. Club since reopening- in July 2020 had been providing only 10% of services I use. Who wants to be bothered with trying to sign up for group classes and swim pool- not me. Spa services not what I use, sauna closed so on. So I was using their cardio machines and weight lifting only I had discussed several time with member services the fact that it is expensive membership and should decrease to 10% oof current in order to members payy for services that actually they provide. All the times I heard that other services will be brought back soon. Tired of waiting, I went to small boutique personal trainers gym by me. And ordered Peleton. Sorry East bank owner, other members will be leaving soon too- who wants to pay over 200$ for privilege of using machines and doing virtual classes?. Businesses got to be connected to reality!

I’m 73 years old and have have belonged to health and country clubs most of my adult life. The EBC is, without question, above all the rest. Not only are the facilities and equipment more and far superior in quality, they continue to always update and improve the club. Special mention must be given to the management team and employees. Great weekday happy hour on the roof deck in the summer overlooking the river and by the pool and has live music Tues and Thurs. Wish the Rooftop food service hours would extend to 7:30pm (at least 7pm) so could have dinner there.

I used the indoor pool today,as a guest. I have neve been in a pool that has stainless steel on the board sides. The walls in the pool were good for flip turns, know problems there. The entire facility is big and nice. I was impressed.

A fantastic club. The most amazing amenities, huge rooms and tons of equipment. So many floors to work out and stretch that you never feel crowded. The locker room is massive and has two steam rooms, saunas, many showers. Restaurants, retail, hair salon, convenience store... you name it. Absolutely recommended.

Attended a business event, the meeting space was very nice. Food was very good. Underground parking at venue is extremely convenient.

This place is about as gross as you can get. Avoid it at all costs. There are so many other choices of better American cuisine in our city.

I used to frequent this place years ago, and recently went back again to see if I wanted to re-join. No way. It has gone downhill. They place was so dirty, the crowd was creepy and the atmosphere was tired. Definitely needs a renovation. Not worth the money.

Unparalleled facilities in River North. Discounted membership rates for 20 somethings, couples, spouses, and families made it accessible to my wife and I. Terrific hours (5a-10p weekdays), great staff, amazing food, and all around a total lifestyle changer...for the better.

I've been a member at this health club for several months now, and there's a lot to love about it, but there are a few things that could use improvement. Let me break it down: First and foremost, the facilities here are truly state of the art. The gym is equipped with modern equipment, and the cleanliness and maintenance are top-notch. Whether you're into cardio, strength training, or group classes, you'll find everything you need. The locker rooms are clean and well-maintained, and the showers are a welcomed post-workout luxury. What I appreciate the most are the plentiful amenities. There's a spacious pool, a sauna, and even a juice bar. The variety of group fitness classes is outstanding, and the instructors are highly skilled and motivating. This health club has created a great atmosphere for a well-rounded fitness experience. However, my only gripe is with the billing processes. It's unfortunate that such a fantastic place can be marred by this issue. The billing information is unclear, and it's hard to decipher where some of the fees arise. The lack of detailed descriptions when additional charges appear on my account is frustrating. It would be immensely helpful if they could provide clearer statements or notifications to explain the charges. Despite this hiccup, I still recommend this health club for its amazing facilities and abundant amenities. If they can improve their billing transparency and communication, it would easily earn a perfect 5-star rating from me.

🫤 I've been a member of Planet Fitness for a while, and while the gym itself is nice and the staff are generally friendly and helpful, the chronic issue of the gym not opening on time has become a major frustration. 🫤 You get what you pay for. There’s no AC, pretty dirty everywhere, machines are constantly broken, treadmills are from 1992. They took away all dumbbells. It’s bizarre that a gym doesn’t have dumbbells available. No hair dryer in the locker room. Most of the members are ignorant, they don’t wipe mach...
