Management has no explanation on why my door access continually gets revoked when I'm paying for 24/7 access. I've been going here for 3 years and never had an issue up until the owner released a new subscription which is $39.99/month. I was bumped from $15/month to $28.99/month and now this guy thinks he's got the next Alphaland in Schererville Indiana. Gyms not worth $39.99/month will be taking my business elsewhere instead of beating around the bush for 3 months on why my membership isn't working. If you're considering coming here RUN and stick to Anytime or other gyms

I mean, it's a gym. It gets the job done if you're just looking for a workout, but definitely poorly. The atmosphere cultivated is a very 'bro' gym. Some may enjoy but it's definitely not for everyone. There is a daycare but I would not bring my son there. Worst thing is sanitation. I visited on a Saturday morning a few weeks ago and stopped by the men's restroom. One of the only 2 stalls was grossly backed up with the most hellish mix of pre-workout fueled diarrhea and exactly 25.6lbs of toilet paper. I obviously just closed the door with a slow, disappointment and moved on. Returning the next morning, I follow the same ritual and to my horrified yet surprised bewilderment, the same toilet in the same stall was still plugged with the same grotesque concoction. It may have become sentient- I think I saw it wink at me. So one of two options took place: either it was cleaned and someone somehow returned and re-plugged said toilet with the exact same type of abnormal fecal discharge, or the staff just opted to leave the mess in place for over 24hrs. Oh! And they have a cool smoothie/protein shake bar! Oh, except the staff always seem annoyed when you inquire about having a shake made. Will only be returning to cancel my membership.

i agree with everything Caleb posted in his review. Gym is dirty and held together by duct tape basically along with getting double and triple charged out of the blue,, planet fitness is a better option if your favorite color is yellow not grit. Ever since Brad left customer service for me has gone down hill,, quite a shame.

As a member who has hard time coming in due to life commitment etc.. I reached out to seek help in getting routine and or trainer rather than cancel... Great and excited to come. I work midnight's as RN and I slept through my 9a appointment first time. With reach out via text to follow up with me we rescheduled. I show up and am told she is with someone. ? Staff not friendly and scurring very apparently looking at calendar and a work phone on desk, and then letting me sit for awhile with no interaction or update.. I was then told , she did not see your text and has another customer at this time. That was it! I asked how can you have a phone and use but not able to manage it effectively? Not my fault but they certainly wanted to highlight how I no call no show first time. Really!?. I asked why would you want to let member feel so upset now and bit hurt as I was actually very excited to embark... Response was well there is nothing we can do for you, only one trainer and you would have to reschedule. Like?! Will take a bit to reschedule or it might be worth paying out of contract, it feels they are all about money as this point - no empathy or compassion!

From the last time I was at Grit 2 years ago, to moving back to the region. I was blown away by the aesthetics and newer equipment. I only wish it was 24/7 but you can't be picky with all the other great things they have to offer. I am proud to be doing my physique training here.

This facility is beautiful! Perfect for families with small children with the childcare option. I also loved the variety of classes and how spacious it is there! They also have a very welcoming staff!

For what it's worth it's a pretty decent gym with a good selection of free weights and machines. The down side is that some of the older machines are in a serious state of disrepair and some of the free weights are just missing. The sad part is that some of the members here mistreat the equipment (people will throw weights when unnecessary) and trash the gym (leaving water bottles, used paper towels lying everywhere) especially after staff hours. Some members have also taken to trashing the locker room when they get the chance (holes punched in drywall which have since been fixed, lockers ripped off hinges etc). I've enjoyed my almost 2 years here but I just wish other members would treat this like the "professional" gym that it is, and to the gyms credit the staff, or at least some of them, make an honest effort to keep the gym clean but it's hard when patrons will just trash it overnight.

Here’s the quick rundown (pun intended) 1. No sign on the building (it’s weird but that aggravated me since I had to guess which business to go to.) 2. The atmosphere was very 90’s underground. Very dirty. It didn’t feel clean and I felt like this gym belongs on the south side of Chicago. 3. The equipment is very worn and rundown. 4. This place should convert to Planet Fitness. At least then you could lower your expectations. Bottom line: Save your time, money, and your precious gas. Find a better option because this ain’t it.

I’m just going to say that I miss World Gym. There was a certain “standard” when it came to that place. Generally what I mean is more serious people would workout there. Now it seems to attract the type of people that go to planet fitness. I see a lot of people hogging up equipment and abusing it. The new benches are already torn up and the things are broken. There is no more protein shake bar which is kind of a downer and the price has also gone up. I’m not sure why They charge more for fewer amenities. Also the sauna and locker room have not been redone and the same cheap lockers that break easily are still there. Also lots of fees. I only go here for convenience and that’s it.

Facility is really nice and the price is cheap, but the staff at the front desk always looks so bored. Edit: they don't accept cash, which isn't illegal, but made things difficult.

They don't tell u they take out 63.99 after you sign up. I was told 14.99 a month then next week they would take out 25. Today they took out everything plus the 63.99. Not to mention the locker rooms are down for remodeling and memberships will go up by 4$ after the remodel.....I'd cancel if I could

This is one of the better gyms in the area. The employees are incredibly helpful and accommodating. Trainer Sam is very knowledgeable, from strength training and cardio, to nutrition and how to calculate macros. She invests a lot of time in her clients. Dixie and Deana are fantastic with group classes, my favorite being the RIPPED classes. These two women are always prepared and invest a lot of time in creating new routines so the classes are never too repetitive or boring. I’ve been going to gyms my whole life and it’s hard to find one where there’s this much encouragement and support. This is a positive environment and well worth the money.

I’ve been going to Grit for about 3 years. I love it. Especially since the remodel. The staff is always nice, and it’s never too crowded in the mornings. There are a lot of familiar faces, as a lot of members are long term members. I’ve done personal training, I’ve participated in classes as well. I love that I can access it 24 hours a day. Any time I’ve had an issue, it’s quickly resolved! They have a lot of options for those wanting to weight train in anyway.

This gym was super scummy. I moved and they would not let me revoke my membership at first (said it needed to be in person) and when I called for help again the person who answered gave me someone else’s information to email and there was no response. Ridiculous it’s like they hold you hostage if you move gyms for whatever money they can squeeze out of you.

Great gym with friendly staff. Definitely worth checking out after the new remodel. There is space here for people with any workout style and the prices are reasonable compared to any other good gyms in the area.

I have been a member at this gym for quite some time now, and it serves its purpose as a reasonably priced local 24-hour gym. While it may not offer the same amenities as some fitness clubs, it's suitable if you're primarily interested in a quick lift or cardio. However, there are a few aspects that could be improved to enhance the overall experience. One of my concerns is that the staff often seems more focused on dollars rather than valuing their dedicated members. They tend to find any reason to charge additional fees. Recently, I was charged an "abuse of policy fee" for holding the door open for a couple of guests who appeared to be struggling with the Openpath entry system. Occasionally, this system experiences glitches, causing guests to get locked out unexpectedly. I have personally faced this issue before, and I know others have as well. In that situation, instead of expecting me to ignore their struggle and proceed inside, I chose to be polite and held the door without thinking twice. However, when I explained this to the staff, they seemed more interested in berating me about the policy rather than understanding the context. It would have been more appropriate for them to acknowledge the situation, remind me to be mindful of the door after staffed hours, and promptly refund the charge without further discussion. I treat this gym like it's an extension of my own home and never had a record of abusing any policies, so it is disheartening when they don't take the time to listen to a simple explanation. Overall, while this gym serves its purpose as an affordable local option, I believe it would greatly benefit from a more customer-centric approach. By valuing the commitment of its members and addressing concerns with empathy and understanding, they can create a more positive and welcoming environment for everyone.

I love World Gym. I sneak in here every once and while on my way to work if I miss my morning workout at my normal gym. Super clean, mega nice people at the front counter, and the equipment is updated. Definitely suggest it to anyone!

If you are looking to get stronger and tone and want to be challenged make your next trainer Sam or Freddy. They are seriously committed to meeting your fitness goals and want you to succeed. Thanks to Sam I’ve already dropped a pants size since we started working together! The gym is clean, clients are there to work out, not hang out, so equipment is readily available or frees up quickly.
