Great way to spend a summer afternoon. Fun for young children but also for adults. A great space to walk around and enjoy the weather. The animals are basic farms animals and i couldn’t really see any of the birds. Side note: I would come around 4 pm next time because it was blisteringly hot from 1-3pm. But there is not much crowd around that time too.

Cosley Zoo is a great place to spend an hour or so enjoying the outdoors and the company of friendly animals! There is an opportunity to feed the ducks at the duck pond and there are sheep and donkeys, cows and goats in the farmyard. Admission is free for children and $9 for adults and they have senior rates as well. At this point in 2021 they still have timed tickets, so order yours online ahead of time. The donkey and the cow came up to the fence and wanted to be petted by the visitors! There are some big black pigs and some chickens that are entertaining to watch and listen to the noises that they make. There are a lot of birds as well as rabbits, a bobcat, coyotes, turkey vultures and deer. Many of the animals that come to the Cosley Zoo are ones that were injured or did not have parents and needed to be rehabilitated and we're not fit to go back in the wild. Visiting the Cosley Zoo is a great way to find out about local animals and how they play a role in our world and in the environment. You can enjoy ice cream, hot dogs, mac and cheese, PBJ, and pizza at the concession stand. They offer reasonable cost annual membership ~ only $39 for one adult and $59 for two adults.

Super cute, smaller zoo with enough animals to keep kids entertained. Think various birds and barnyard animals with deer, coyotes, rabbits, and a bobcat for good measure. Some racoons in a fun habitat was a particular highlight. Everything was clean and well organized, and the staff were very friendly. Only drawback (Covid specific) is that without a mask mandate, very few guests were wearing one. There's enough room to keep distance, but if that's a deal breaker for your family, now you know in advance. Would still recommend if you have young kids and are in the area!

First time here, there was about 3 other families here with younger children. It's perfect for families with toddlers anyone older will be bored. It's a quaint little zoo to walk through in about 20min. We stayed about an hour, our girl loves bunnies and ducks so we sat and watched the bunny run around like crazy making her laugh. Not sure what the caboose had in it, but it was temporarily closed. They have a little gift store at the end to get a little something for your kiddos if you want. All and all a nice time there

What a cute little zoo...hence little. I expected more to see and maybe a petting zoo for the youngins. The staff was all friendly that we ran into so thank you for that. Plus it was only 7$ to get in for adults and the kids were free so that was nice as well. If there was more to see and do there they would probably get 5 stars! Oh and 2.70$ for a popsicle is a little much....

Injured animals in exhibits far too small. The birds were just flying into the cages trying to get out, the coyote was running back and forth seemingly looking for an exit. Raccoon exhibit was horribly depressing, it looks scared, dirty water, surrounded by solid rock and a metal wall its just trying to hide. Felt horrible the whole time.

** Updated 2020 **still One of the best little zoos and kids outdoor areas. - also they offer a great spot to go view the lights and stay socially distant or grab a great fresh tree locally. Admission must be reserved online ahead of time and is free through the New Year. ** Lots of small farm animals and awesome programs offered for educational and celebratory events. The price is right at $7 for non-residents and kids free for all. Inclusion is built in, a rare and spectacular find in more affluent communities and suburbs around the city, we have found the western burbs quite inviting. Lots of great things around the area to do and eat just a few min.’s away you can make it a day. Grab a bite and hop over to one of Wheaton’s a DuPage county’s awesome nature preservation parks. The near by Lincoln Marsh is a new fav of ours, read more and see all our links here at: thechicagomom.com

This was such a nice little zoo walk. The zoo is small and cozy. Just the right size for a young family to take an outing to for a quiet time with some animals. The exhibits are nice and there is a barn full of animals to enjoy. The light at Christmas are a lot of fun to see too.

If you have a Wheaton park district resident card, it’s free. This place has fun little activities, lots of animals, short nature walk, and a nice gift shop. Kids love it - it’s a great way to burn some time!

Recently took my three year old niece for a visit. Perfect size for little ones. Barnyard animals galore. The staff is very informative and friendly. The animals are well taken care and seem in good spirits. The price of admission is reasonable. Definitely a cool place for little ones. Not too large and not too small.

Great small zoo for kids. Mostly farm animals with exception of some coyotes, foxes, bobcats. The Christmas lights were underwhelming but its a good place to get a real Christmas tree and see some animals. And it's free. You just have to get online tickets for specific times.

A nice stroll to see the lights, get an ornament and pick up a Christmas 🎄. We had a nice time and my parents found it just the right amount of walking.

Compact zoo focusing on Illinois and non-exotic animals. The foxes are very cute, and the llamas were lovely to see. Won't take long to tour, so don't plan on making a whole day of it. Perfect spot to let the kids explore and burn off some energy.

When we went in 2018, it was free admission. Recently things changed. It's not free anymore. I can understand if it cost $5 or so to enter to help support the zoo financially. However, adults now need a ticket that costs $9 plus a $1.40 fee that you need to purchase online in advance. It's a pretty small zoo that you can walk around in and see in an hour. They have some farm animals, deer, wolves, coyote and owls to see. They have a gift shop and dining area too.

We had the best time at Cosley Zoo. We went on a Monday with 3 adults and 3 kids. It’s definitely a smaller zoo, but perfect for a couple hours of fun for littles. As a mom of a toddler and newborn it was perfect (small, accessible, interactive, and not at all crowded). The highlight was duck feeding - fun for all ages!

Perfect little zoo for littles! So glad I discovered this gem of a zoo after having my second child with a toddler to entertain. Even though we live in Naperville it’s worth the trek because my toddler is obsessed with farm animals and it’s a very manageable outing with an infant and toddler. It’s a very manageable size for an hour or two visit (my son wanted to see each animal 3x!). Best of all, everything is pretty well fenced in and safe so it’s easy to keep a toddler in sight. There’s not really much place to run off. Some might say it’s a little small but I felt this was an advantage compared to a large more traditional zoo especially for toddlers. You’re not going to see large exotic animals but my son is more into farm animals anyway. There’s an iconic looking red barn and windmill that he got so excited about! The zoo has farm animals, birds, ducks, etc. and you can get right up close which is great for little kids. We visited in the spring and there were baby lambs and baby cows. So cute! The grounds are nice and pleasant to walk around or have a little snack or lunch. There are plenty of picnic tables. Hasn’t been too crowded during the week when we’ve gone. We will definitely be going back regularly!

Come for the experience of a small town feel Christmas, not for the animals. They have lights at night, a few animals to see, a nice zoo store for Christmas gifts, a very good place to buy Christmas trees, hot chocolate and more. We go here every year and enjoy it every year.

  • 5/5 Lisa W. 6 months ago on Google • 17 reviews
Great value and highly recommend for toddlers and small kiddos. The animals are well cared for and you can make a great little outing here. I like that my toddler can walk it without a stroller and it's right in the community. Good places to eat and stroll like Lincoln Marsh are nearby too

I was very disappointed with our visit today. The website had me convinced that it was safe to attend this zoo. However their "mandatory" use of masks was not being enforced and about 50 percent of attendees were wearing one.

It is a smaller place that features mostly farm animals and walking areas. Family friendly. Sometimes they have added attractions, like corn mazes or pumpkin picking or hayrides or decorations in winter. Can be very quiet and kinda empty at other times of the year. Reasonable price. Good for young kids to run around. Not as fancy as Morton Arboretum or as large.

A nice, quieter alternative to Brookfield Zoo and Lincoln Park Zoo. It's much smaller and has mainly farm animals and local species, but it's ideal for kids. However, the horses looked rather uncomfortable and didn't have a whole lot of room to run around in, so it's a little too small here.

Took a field trip today & my school-age kids loved it. We signed up for an Educational program about reptiles. We saw a turtle 🐢, a skink 🦎 & a snake 🐍. They learned a lot & got to ask tons of questions & got to touch them. Everyone had an AWESOME time! Thank you!!! 💜

My 5-year-old grandaughter and I visited on a cold January day but it was nice to find the zoo open. Some exhibits and the cafe were closed for the season but it was a small area with enough animals to be interesting to young children. All the employees were nice and friendly. Only I wish there were a few more spots to sit and warm up and some food beyond snacks. Also thought the gift shop items were overpriced. Still, a very nice outing.

I really like it here. I brought my family here for the first time and my kids loved it. I like how it wasn't as crowded as when we go to Brookfield. I can let my kids walk around but without having a tight grip on them. Staff is friendly. Got to pet a chicken and for my kids it was the first time for that too. Will be coming back here again tomorrow with the in laws so they can enjoy it too.

Amazing Zoo with a lot of different animals i.e. Bobcats, Owls, Rabbits, Birds, Ducks, Goats, Racoons, Horses, etc. They have also have a cafe and a gift shop. My 4 year old LOVES this zoo and seeing all of the animals!

There is great fun here at Cosley Zoo! There is such a variety of different animals, and you can learn very much about the study of zoology. It is even fun for adults. I love this zoo very much and to be honest it is definitely one of the best in the area!

If your looking for a Well Maintained Zoo its here. It's small enough to keep the young one's attention but still be fun.

  • 4/5 Glenn P. 3 years ago on Google
Quaint little zoo. Great for families, small children, etc. One way traffic flow, masks when you can't maintain 6ft from others (which was probably 75% of the time), and parts see off limits due to the pandemic.

  • 3/5 Philip B. 3 years ago on Google
Nice zoo for families and kids. Many changes coming...expansion

  • 4/5 Christine M. 3 years ago on Google
The kids had a great time and it was not over crowded.

  • 3/5 Holly T. 3 years ago on Google
Honestly I was very underwhelmed and so was my child. She's never been too interested in animals but there just wasn't much to look at anyway and no fun things for the kids. Maybe they had something fun that is just currently closed due to covid but it didn't appear that way. I guess if you're just looking to get out and walk or your child is obsessed with animals this is a good cheap place to take them. It is very clean and well kept, I will add.

  • 2/5 Bryan D. 3 years ago on Google
Unless you feel comfortable standing next to people not wearing their masks properly or, in many cases, at all, i would suggest staying away from this zoo for now. Normally a good experience for Wheaton residents as it is free.

This is a fun, small zoo. What is wonderful is that you can get up real close to all of the animals. And the information boards for the exhibits is excellent. It is not too much to take in, and I always come away learning a lot.

A cute little zoo for younger kids that features common farm animals as well as wildlife native to northern Illinois. The animals look like they are treated well and every pen has a good description of the animals along with some fun facts. All in all, a nice place to spend a nice afternoon!

  • 4/5 Nazia F. A. 3 years ago on Google
Fun if you have kids and want to take them out for some fun watching cute ponies, cows, horses, goats, chickens, an owl, fox, coyote, pig, birds, and ducks. Those are the animals we saw and you can also pet the horse since the barn is open. It’s a small suburban petting “zoo” not technically a zoo but it’s just a small private suburban animal park if you ask me. It’s cute and fun. The lady up front was not too pleasant when she told me to buy tickets online, due to covid. But I told her: so you’re telling me to drive back home and get them online?? Her way of speaking was incorrect. already drove here and I didn’t know. So she said it’s ok. It’s ok though. 9/10.

A hidden little gem in Wheaton that is only $6 for seniors or free for residents. Well not anywhere nearly extensive as a traditional zoo it has enough local animals to entertain toddlers and young children. The snack bar has reasonably priced treats and the entire facility is clean and well maintained. Well no brainer for residents of Wheaton to visit often it is still worth the admission to experience it for those that live outside of town.

Really disappointing visit, brought my grandson for his spring break visit with me. I’m not a Wheaton resident so there was an entry fee. Not surprised. However, very sad, small number of animals, no interactive activities for children with the animals. It used to be sooooooo much nicer! If you want a safe place for kiddos to run around and you live in Wheaton it works well, otherwise, look elsewhere.

  • 2/5 Angela 9 months ago on Google
Very small zoo with many animals not in sight or sitting in a corner looking sad. $20 for 2 adult non residents and don't think it was worth it. About maybe half an hour to walk around the whole thing and stopping at exhibits. Maybe more suitable for toddlers not older kids. Mine are 11 and 6 and they weren't impressed.

  • 5/5 Amia G. 7 months ago on Google
First time here taking our 8 month old son and he loved it! I think me and my husband had a better time than him lol it's a lovely little gem for the kiddos to play and see some animals.
