A little disappointed. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon when it was below 20⁰ outside. Four employees and I'm the only customer. Great service but no interaction. Just a good morning or thanks for stopping by would have been nice. Below past review: The Honey Cinnamon Cortado was a little disappointing. I did not taste any honey or cinnamon. Tried to ask for more Honey/Cinnamon and still didn't taste any. Will try some coffee next time I swing by. I'm very happy the coffee I purchased from them was roasted recently. Coffee was amazing!!! Will be snagging some more!

Good place to have some coffee. Staff is patient yet inviting. Their is a handful of selections to choose from in the bakery goods. I was surprised that they offer Do-rite donuts here for purchase. I bought a donut and espresso for just over $6 which is average on pricing. Inside decor is nicely illuminated but a little bit tight so dining in may not be an option. Overall a good place to visit.

A fantastic spot to pick up some excellent coffee. Heads up, there is no indoor seating besides a bench

Ok… I had an iced coconut ginger latte here a few months back and WOWWWW 😍😍 probably one of the best lattes I ever had! Never thought of that as a flavor combo, but it was TASTY! Staff is also friendly and the place has a nice vibe.

Their cold brew is some of the best in town. The people are friendly and the space is welcoming. The donuts are always fresh and from Do-Rite. The refresher teas are a lifesaver on a hot day. The location is great, and one of my favorite parts of the neighborhood.

This is such a favorite spot of mine! I love their decaf iced latte option, the team is always SO NICE, and it’s the perfect place for a coffee catch up. Limited seating but great workspace tables for a shared option.

Went with a group of friends and everyone enjoyed their drinks and food. Had the iced oatmeal cookie latte and it was perfect, good coffee flavor and not too sweet. Donuts were also super delicious. Everyone there was super friendly and service was very quick. Would definitely go back if visiting the area ever again.

Friendly staff, delicious coffee and a beautifully decorated and tasty Rice Krispy treat. The spinach quiche was filling with a delectable, flakey crust.

I recently visited Chicago for the first time and Backlot Coffee was the first coffee shop I went to. I was immediately impressed by the bright and airy atmosphere, and the friendly and welcoming staff. I ordered a cardamom rose oatmilk latte, which is now my new favorite coffee flavor. My mom ordered the oatmeal cookie latte, which she loved. We also shared a blueberry donut, which was the perfect way to end our breakfast. The donut was fresh and soft, with a generous amount of blueberry throughout. I later learned that the donuts are made by a local bakery, which is always a plus. I loved the artwork on the walls, which is for sale and created by a local artist. It was a nice touch that added to the overall charm of the coffee shop. I will definitely be returning to Backlot Coffee every time I visit Chicago.

Backlot is a great neighborhood coffee shop with amazing espresso drinks and drip coffee. I’m never disappointed by what I order here. The one thing I’m bummed about is the new seating, which is pretty uncomfortable and feels unfinished. The tables are pretty tiny and the chairs are either hard wood benches or stools. It can be a bit tough to settle in and work here.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Backlot Coffee Shop! I ordered a Latte coffee, and it was perfection in a cup. The rich and smooth flavor was exactly what I needed to kickstart my day. The ambiance is cozy, and the staff is friendly and attentive. This place is a hidden gem for coffee lovers. Can't wait to return for another delightful Latte!" 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This place was our saving grace on the drive from downtown Chicago to Madison. There was a line out the door due to a big group, but they offered to let us jump in front which was so kind. Awesome coffee (get the lavender latte) and loved their breakfast scone as well - just what we were looking for. Staff was super nice! So glad we found it.

Today was my first time visiting Backlot Coffee - Avondale location. Even though I am not a coffee drinker, I had a delicious mint tea and oat milk hot cocoa with a spinach/feta croissant. The staff was super sweet for the 2 hours I was there on my Zoom meeting. Free, secure wifi was a plus. I will definitely be back again. Customer service was superb and the overall ambience was spot on with great music too. Thank you! :)

Lovey little coffee shop right off Irving and the highway. Have only stopped in a few times while in the area but has been good each time. Looking forward to a new location opening right by me in Lincoln Square. One item to note is somewhat limited seating if looking to meet someone or work from this location.

We had the Oatmeal Cookie Latte and it was very yummy! The everything croissant and breakfast burrito really hit the spot! Friendly staff and lovely art inside!

Great local coffee spot right off Irving Park blue line stop in the Old Irving Park neighborhood. They have a huge selection of delicious pastries and goodies (banana bread is awesome!) and excellent coffee ☕️ everyone working here is really friendly and welcoming. The place gets really busy in the morning on weekends but there’s lots of spots to sit. I also loved the artwork on display by Sarah E. Wain! So I posted it in the photos. Definitely my new coffee spot in the neighborhood.

So I am not a franchise type guy. If I can find a coffee shop that’s local and patronize it I will choose that option over Starbucks every time. Back lot has two locations and this one in Old Irving Park is charming. The coffee is wonderful and anytime I have a meeting with a client or a vendor in the area this is my coffee shop of choice.

This place is my go to coffee shop! My oatmeal cookie latte (hot or cold) is my favorite. The green tea matcha and cappuccino is good. I like the donuts, parfaits and croissant. They have lovely special drinks. A pleasant plus, they have lovely plants within the shop. The staff are always very nice!!!

Love this place. Coffee is amazing. New seating areas are so cute. My husband is GF so we go for gluten free donuts on the weekend. They are amazing.

I'm so glad I found this place, and can't wait to visit again! This was a last-minute find while driving through Chicago and searching Coffeeshops along my route in Google Maps. Such a quick stop off the highway and great coffee. Donuts are wonderful as well, so there is some real talent here in making/sourcing great stuff.

Apple fritter and latte were very tasty—plus the microwave available for customers dining in (to heat up snacks or coffee) is a nice touch! Also appreciated the convenient location near the metra/blue line. However, was disappointed in the service. When you pay over $3 for a coffee, you hope for friendly/accommodating service. This could be improved here.

I don’t think I ever chugged a cup of coffee so fast in my life because it was so good. I got a cardaman rose latte and it was amazing. I absolutely will be back.

I want to have my birthday here, I want to work here, and I want other coffee shops to study here. I have searched for an authentic cappuccino, as you would find in Italy, for months. I have the feeling I’ve arrived. If today is the norm, and not an expectation, I could proudly recommend this business to anyone!

Our family has been going to Backlot since we moved to the neighborhood in 2016. They quickly became our favorite coffee shop! The customer service is great, the drinks are amazing. They also carry Do-rite Donuts, delicious quiches from PHlour- and have plenty of other pastries to offer! We love the lattes (mocha, vanilla and oatmeal cookie are faves), cold brew, banana bread, quiches, donuts, cinnamon rolls (OMG 🤤), the employees, atmosphere, decor, plants and location. I am a SAHM of 4 and seeing welcoming faces and feeling seen and heard at Backlot is so nice. I always feel a bit rejuvenated after stopping in and even moreso after drinking my coffee! ☕

Great place for coffee. We tried the honey bee latte and like it!! Friendly and welcoming staff

Not much caffeine in the cold brew. Also weird and expensive prices. $14 for a 32oz cold brew and $5 for a 20oz. So buy 2, 20oz for 40oz total for $10 instead of $14 for only 32oz. Also, the 20oz seemed super small. I would bet $100 i could fit 4 large cups into that 32oz bottle. I feel jipped. Not going here again. Don't trust it.

Staff is super kind and friendly. I had a really good first experience. No dining which I was bummed about but the coffee & spinach and feta croissant was rly good :)

Tasty drinks, great selection of breakfast pastries. Nowhere to sit but a good stopping place along the way. Staff is friendly and apparently you can take their used coffee grounds for compost altho I've never gone for it.

The coffee is good. The pastries are even better. The Banana Bread and Classic Donut was fresh and soooo good. Only leaving 4 stars because there is no seating area. Seems like the seating area was never restored after covid restrictions. It would be nice to sit and have a coffee.
