Intelligentsia has very good coffee, and is a great place to bring your laptop and work. That's what most people were doing here, working. In addition, there are a couple of large tables if you have a group. The food choices are very limited. I ordered a ham croissant. It was good, but not what I expected as I thought it might be warmed up, and not much ham. The prices are a bit pricey. The service was excellent.

Really solid joint! They have it all and in a welcoming atmosphere. The coffee is solid and the service amazing.

Elated to enjoy class in-shop. I was happy to exchange sniffs, smells, sips, and conversations. A fantastic in-depth discussion over the influences and distinctions of coffee, their commitment to equity and fair trade, and the history behind these revelations. Class included two fresh cups of hot coffee and a bag (your choice) of their whole bean coffee. I would consider taking the class again.

This place is amazing! Not coz I get ♥️♥️ on my order label but coz the entire staff is magnificent (and the coffee is delicious)! Thank you for all you continue to do so we can get a piece of normalcy — and frequently an enlightening conversation — to get our days started!!

Got two coffees and two scones with a friend, his scone broke off from the corner he was holding it by while pulling it out of a bag, pretty much the whole landed on the sidewalk, he brought it to the attention of the clerk, she said "sorry you have to pay for another one", we even ended up standing in a line again. I believe the situation could be handled better.

For the size, the drink is pricy but expected due to location. I got the iced avena latte. The cayenne pepper in the drink is different but really made it. The cafe environment is very chill and theres a lot of space to sit and get work done.

My first visit ever to an Intelligentsia location in Chicago was this coffee bar on Broadway! It seems like the place was renovated while I was gone during COVID-19, but the old charm is still there ☺️☕️ I had a chance to try Angeleno, which is four espresso shots with milk and homemade vanilla syrup, together with banana bread. Definitely a cool drink to have during hot weather 💙, and a good place to get work done 💻!!

The staff are great but the coffee is just not my kind of coffee. Their coffee taste burnt to me-simply not a place I would go back to. I’ve tried is three times to understand the hype.

One of my favorite coffee shops in Chicago. My only complaint is that the WiFi is really bad (dial up speeds). That might be a conscious choice (some places don’t want people on laptops) but I’m leaving it in the review anyway for other people to know or in case they don’t know. I figure it can’t cost more than $100/mo to get a gigabit connection.

Great coffee like every Inteligência i ever been, but the service and the atmosphere nop, no for me… me and my wife felt excluded from the place.. not from the people but that was here but from the staff… Usually I seat to drink my coffee but this time I had to take a walk… They will never see my face again. The coffee is great and price is high… I’m ok with this.. but been miss treat when you spend $17 for 2 coffee

Everyone there is so nice except for Angela. She is so rude and mean to me. I come in and get a croissant and latte when I work from home and I am afraid to come in when she works the counter! I wish that someone would talk to her about her extremely short and angry tone when she works the register.

The customers at coffee spot make this place feel pretty hostile and judgemental. I would think that it's because their coffee and bites are good but I was a bit disappointed with that aspect as well. I was waiting for 10-15 minutes for my 2nd drink because they served it on a different counter. When they told me to check the other counter, they put the wrong sugar in my cappuccino and were waiting for me to say 'thats fine, I'll take it.' But why would I do that when I'm paying $7+ for a coffee? Even the chocolate croissant I ordered was on par with the chocolate croissant I got in the LAX terminal. The reason behind why this place is pretentious escapes me. I have friends that are afraid to come here because of how judgemental it is. It's just a buncha rich hipsters sharing wifi and eating mediocre cafe food. That said, the decor of this place is beautiful and I even took photos of the store area because I wanted to remember it.

So we ordered the El Salvador coffee, which is really basic. That took FOREVER. And they literally just poured it from a canister, so what were we waiting for? Then the matcha took another lifetime. Seating is crazy, it's probably packed at all times of the day. Atmosphere is not that appealing. Service was fine. Coffee isn't THAT much better than Starbucks. The size was small too. The matcha was at least mixed with the bamboo whisk. It's so pretentious with their tea display, when they're just waiting for it to steep. I think it's annoying to have to find your lid size, because they're all the same and it's a waste of plastic. At least they care about the turtles and have a cute sign about straws, but some douche just dropped like half the lids and left it there.

A modern look some stool seats looking out of the large floor to ceiling windows. You can watch all the dogs go by, as a lot of dogs pass by. Two more seating areas. Expensive coffee. Their neon light sign outside is cool.

Great but very pricey coffee. The place was so cold that my friend and I had to leave after a little while. Would come back for the great coffee, but extreme air conditioning will keep me away.

The original. The O.G. Back in 2015, i stumbled into this place following the 2015 Chicago Marathon. This begin my true love affair with craft coffee. My favorite of all the places I’ve ever been. To some, the industrial feel may feel a little like other places, but remember, this place did it first. Absolutely my favorite in all of Chicago.

My go to neighborhood cafe for a solid cappuccino and some productive work time. Their coffee is more on the pricey side, but it’s good. The music is always fire too. Don’t bother with the croissants though.

I don’t normally do bad reviews, but I really feel this place is over-hyped. Staff is always a bit off-putting, and coffee is overpriced. They have a nice selection of interesting drinks, though!

$7 for an iced red eye. I was too stunned to speak and ended up just paying for it. In looking back on it, I’m confident I was bamboozled and I would like intelligentsia to defend their pricing structure. Am I ordering wrong? Any suggestions because at these prices my coffee habit is unsupportable.

Super excited and proud to have an IBEW union affiliated coffee shop in this area. Great coffee. Superb cold brew. Excellent, represented service!

Great coffee options with some additional fun mocktail drinks like the Black Cat Fizz. Super tasty pop-tarts too!

This place is perfect! I love how serene the location and place itself is. If you plan to have a quiet time alone while working or if you are looking for a place to spend your catch up session with your buddies, this is the best place to be. All of the staff are very welcoming and entertaining. They knew exactly what to do and do it professionally. Thank you!

Deliciousness in a cup. My beverage of choice is the Avena latte made with oat milk and a hint of cayenne. It's so perfect! Together with a modest selection of just-right pastries and a great atmosphere and you will find joy.

Good atmosphere. “This whole coffee shop is an NFT”. One of the clients said. Family, alone with a laptop, or people watching. Everyone is welcome. The coffee is first class.

Love love LOVE this place! Yummy snacks, great vibes, AMAZING coffee! The baristas on duty were SUPER friendly and helpful (S/O to Jose!!) and the service was quick. I’d wanted to visit this place for years and the first trip did not disappoint! =] Hope to be back soon 🤞🏻

Great music and good coffee but really expensive (over $4 a cup with tax). Bathroom was kinda gross with pee on the seat somehow every time I went back. At least there is a lot of space to sit and they offer a couple vegan pastries.

Neighborhood coffee shop serving carefully crafted coffee. The place is clean and feels cozy. This and the music makes it a pleasant place to spend some time in either to think, study, spend time with friends. The service was very friendly and fairly quick.

Shame on these people for not having any heat in their establishment! The hard working staff is working during a brutal winter without heat just so that people can get a cup of overpriced and very underwhelming coffee. This is deplorable and just down right disgusting. DO BETTER.

  • 2/5 Logan K. 2 years ago on Google
Service was fine, but coffee tasted very bland and not flavorful. I purchased some "brewed to order" variety, but man is was so bland..... And very expensive for a relatively small cup. Good environment, great service, but the coffee just didn't do it for me.

Long-standing location for a local roaster. Good coffee. Friendly vibe.

It's the first time I visited the place and I found it to be more comfortable and cozy. The food and coffee are a little bit pricey but it's worth it. The decorations inside are also pleasing to the eye. The place is really perfect if you want to read a book or just be alone. I am very glad I went here. Highly recommended!
