It wasn’t so good like I thought it was going to be.. The people were nice but I do not recommend their food. I’ll ask for a hazelnut iced coffee and it tasted like water so I added some sugar to it and it still wasn’t that good. The bagel that I ordered was a wheat bread bagel with only avocado on it and it was not good at all. I think it was more of the bread that wasn’t that good. I didn’t like how they had an outdoor eating place it felt very much city vibes. But overall i won’t be going again. The picture came out cute though.

Super cute coffee spot hidden in an alley between two big buildings. The service is excellent with the coffee coming out fast and so good! I got the teddy grahmn latte and my bf got a fast coffee. Sitting in the alley sipping coffee is a must!! It is an experience that is so fun!

Popped in to grab coffee and a bagel on our last morning in town. The cold brew is delicious! I got an everything bagel with cream cheese, my husband got the Reservoir Hog sandwich. Both were amazing!

A bustling cafe in South Loop with a decently sized seating area (ideal for small groups of 2-3 or individuals) and large assortment of drink and food options. It has a great social vibe and ambience with a few bar seats, flatscreen TV screens throughout, music playing loudly, and a selection of free boardgames to play. There’s a LOT of stimuli and noise overall, so it’s not an ideal place to do work/studying that requires focus, though it’s nice to get some light work and reading done. For coffee, I just got a medium roast “fast coffee” ($2.77) which was quite good— the flavors were bold, diverse, and delectable. I definitely would want to come back to try their creative latte options and bagels. Overall, the prices are pretty fair especially for the area (one of the cheaper cafes for both drinks and food in the Loop). I came at around 11:30am on a Saturday and stayed until closing (2pm)— it was not super busy when I arrived and I was able to get a table easily. By around 12pm, it got a lot busier with longer lines and waits… so come earlier if you want to snag a seat before peak times. I was a big fan of their music playlist the entire time I stayed: mostly chill R&B and rap playing (think: Jhene Aiko, Ice Spice, SZA, HER, Doja Cat, Steve Lacy, etc.) — Price (relative to peers): 5/5 Coffee: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4.5/5 Suitability for Work/Study: 2/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5

Amazing vibes. I walked in feeling like they already knew exactly what I needed. The entire staff had great energy and it put me in such a great mood. I had a bagel sandwich and coffee. This is honestly the BEST bagel sammy I have ever had. Definitely beats Gotham bagels. This location is good for grab and go. Not the best for if you want a coffee meetup with a work/business partner. Good for beautiful city views if you sit outside! If you’re near here, there’s a lot of coffee options, this one is worth skipping the Starbucks train forsure.

Caffeine is the true superHERO @herocoffee ‘s super power is providing the South Loop with lots of espresso, bagels, and pastries. This Latina owned coffee shop offers a perfectly curated coffee menu with flavors like lavender honey (pink latte art with flowers), blackberry dark chocolate (blue latte art), hazelnut cayenne (Hero to-go cup), matcha (mason jar), and many many more in both hot and iced options. They also have delicious bagel sandwiches like the amazing Smooth Criminal - bagel of choice, goat cheese, fig jam, Monterey Jack cheese, basil, siracha, & egg). Plus they collab with other women-owned and small Chicago businesses like @beacondoughnuts @grabbdapp collab I don’t give a sip🥤 But I will take multiple sips from my coffee from @herocoffee ! Had to stop by one of my favorite Chicago coffee shops one last time before leaving this city. Their lattes and bagels never disappoint. First discovered them through a @grabbdapp collab and got to try many items. My favorite was by far the Smooth Criminal bagel (swipe!) with fig jam, a fried egg, sriracha, Monterey Jack cheese, basil, and goat cheese on a cheddar herb bagel. Today I paired it with an ice caramel latte. Be sure to order ahead with @ritual_chi @ritual_co to avoid the long line of this busy spot!

I loved the vibes of this place and how fast the foods were served. I tried the smooth cirminal bagel and the hero bagel, and both tasted just okay. The jam in the smooth criminal bagel overtook other flavors. The iced latte was good.

Donuts are top notch. Do NOT skip. Chai is decent. Easy seating on a Saturday morning. We got 2 donuts, single serving bottle of Tropicana OJ, and a Chai. The bill was $17 (and some change). Felt a bit expensive.

Great location from our hotel 'Hotel Blake'. Had the oatmilk latte which is very good - creamy and hot like a latte should be. Prices are very reasonable - cheaper than Starbucks. Recommend...

Very tasty bagel sandwiches and a pretty solid coffee. Just wish there was plates and mugs for those who dine in vs only take away.

We were staying at the Hotel Blake and not knowing this place existed, had breakfast there on our first day. Thank goodness we found this coffee bar. The selection of different types of bagels is good, but the selection of fillings is amazing. Plus you can have coffee any way you like it! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We ate there every day, even getting up early on the day we left so we could pay a final visit before making our way to the airport.

Stopped at Hero Coffee Bar for a pourover the other day. I tried several coffee shops in the area and this was one of my favorites. There were several pourover options and the one I chose was great! I didn't try any food options but those were available. This was a popular place in the early afternoon hours on the day when I visited. Service was great - I will return here again!

Good coffee, tasty & well balanced. Vibe is nice and service is friendly and fast. Not the nicest looking location (the pretty exposed brick alleyway one is 2 blocks north) - but hey the coffee + vibe is good so a great pick me up all round

Walked by over 20 places to get coffee because I wanted coffee from HERO coffee bar. Well worth it. They made a REAL espresso. Positive people. Things have been thought out. Great way to start the day

Stellar, smooth and well-practiced service. There is a small indoor space with limited seating, but the staff are very diligent at getting people in and out so that everyone is seated and serviced quickly. There is a standing bar too! The quick service means that the kitchen is super quick too. Bagels and coffee are really tasty - definitely try their Smooth Criminal! Employees and their music definitely add to the chill vibe.

This place has a really fun atmosphere. Good music, fresh tasting food, and the service people are so friendly and really seem to enjoy working there.

To heck with SBX next door! At Hero you get great coffee, delicious food, superb customer service, and plenty of space to sit down. Great vibe too: cute decor, upbeat music, cool graffiti art adorning the walls. Great local spot!

Used to be one of my favorites places but recently the quality and the service has gone down so much. Today my husband went to get us drinks and breakfast sandwiches and they are inedible. First the iced match latte order came out as hot which was fine and we asked for it to be iced and the iced version was literally just milk. The barista had a negative attitude and we felt unwelcome. We came to find our sandwiches to be cold and rock hard. The bagels were not toasted and the filling were sloppily placed and the cream cheese was not even spread. We used to recommend this place to everyone new in town and take our visitors here but we will not be doing that anymore. Really disappointed.

Amazing staff and a very unique coffee shop with a great atmosphere. Plenty of flavor options as well, and a well rounded variety of everything they carry. A great location I'm glad I stumbled upon.

Such a great atmosphere- lots of options to customize your latte - I got matcha with cherry syrup - they have meat and diary alternatives as well. This location in specific has four tvs and cute lights up - will be coming back! Side note - the barista this morning was amazing

The coffee, art and staff here are so great that it’s almost... a crime. (Go ahead and cringe at that pun if you want.) I stop by almost every day during my breaks for their nitro cold brew, and it gets better every time! I highly recommend picking up one of their poptarts to go with with your drink; they’re awesome AND, like everything else on the menu, they’re at a fair price point that won’t break the bank!

I had great expectations about this place and the coffee but I was kinda disappointed. Do not get me wrong… it’s not a bad place and actually they made a pretty good espresso. However, I got the White Mocha Latte and it was very basic. I was expecting more flavors.

Love the breakfast sandwiches, they are so delicious. The drinks are really good and the service is awesome. Got the matcha mushroom seasonal drink and it was so tasty. I highly recommend this place.

First time here today, highly recommended from a friend. I'll be back... Great breakfast sandwich (ordered the "Usual Bagel")... And great coffee. Definitely worth stopping in. They're were several other bagel sandwiches I want to try.

Oh my goodness! Mad love! We found a hidden gem. My coffee was perfect. My breakfast sandwich was excellent (everything bagel, egg, hummus, tomato, onion). The person who took our order was nice and helped me navigate the avocado import problems. They’re not doing fine in right now, which is totally get . It’s a small place. The person who made our drinks knocked it out of the park in terms of quality and skill. They were also super nice. I felt welcome, like I live around the corner and go there everyday. Thanks! We’ll be back I hope!!

Pricey, but the value is still there, and that's what I am basing my review on. The best lattes I have ever had in my life. No joke!

I was on my way to the library and stopped in for a quick bite to eat and a coffee. I ordered the usual suspect after talking to some young men outside who highly recommended it. I also got a cold brew coffee which was refreshing in the summer heat. Will be back whenever at the library. Good friendly efficient service and good music taste. I recommend popping in if you’re ever near the Harold Washington library .

I'm sure I'll stop by again! I'm so happy I finally found this spot just in time for a cup of strong coffee. Within this coffee shop, the atmosphere was both vibrant and relaxing. I'm definitely going to award them a five-star rating for their efforts. Incredible, yes! Thank you so much, guys!

This place was great!! Had amazing customer service and an amazing experience overall. I tried the iced pumpkin spice latte with oat milk and OMG! It surprisingly was not artificial tasting pumpkin! They make it in house and it was such a good flavor! Definitely want to visit again and try more stuff!!

Great coffee and the breakfast sandwiches were fantastic.

What a tremendous place. Coffee was great, wall art was eclectic and great, our sriracha and fig butter bagel sandwiches were salty and sweet and great, the staff was helpful and great, and the whole beans for purchase supported people and animals in need, which is just great. We’re coming back for sure.

I was happy to have found this coffee shop near my hostel (Hi Chicago). The latte was good, and the egg and cheese bagel was delicious. I had breakfast there almost every day while visiting Chicago. The staff is also very friendly.
