all i can think about when we visited this coffee shop was "location, location, location!" it's perfect! it's easy to find and right by the subway station. i highly suggest the cold brew or the "teddy graham" which were also suggested by the barista. if you're in downtown or just passing through, you'll really enjoy the view here and the coffee options. i should note that there was no 'inside' seating and we ordered through a small window so it was pretty cold outside while we waited for our beverages.

We checked out this place because I’ve read this place in sooo many places and I’m an avid coffee fan! Oh boy, I was not disappointed. The lady who helped us was amazing and friendly, the place was unique and had its own quirky character. The food? The drinks?! Oh man they were very unique and very well made. These baristas definitely know their stuff. The frothing of the milk for the latte was perfect and the combination of flavors were good. They were a little too sweet for me but I do like things watered down (I put water on my juice) the bagel?! It was just a delight for every bite! I didn’t realize it was gone already!!! What a great place to visit, For a quick bite and good vibes. I left the place smiling and will definitely come back again.

Over-priced Cafe! Got the hero sandwich and there was literally a thin smear of avocado on the bagel, enough to make it light green. For the price I paid it should actually have avocado. It was nothing special, quite boring and plain (basically bagel and tomatoes). This place is not worth it. Cold brew was just meh. I don't recommend wasting your money here. Also on side note, they advertise online they open at 8am, but they didn't open until 9am.

Wonderful little spot that uses every ounce of wonder about it's location to it's advantage. Very much enjoyed the coffee and the vegan donuts. Keep in mind that there is no indoor seating.

One sign of an excellent business is when they are so confident in their product that they give you free samples to try. Today I wasn't so sure about the pastries and had decided not to get one, but then they said they had banana bread new on the menu...When I expressed doubt, they gave me a slice to take and try. Well, I'm a baker, so I'm very picky and this is delicious banana bread. Good thing there was half left to take a pic! Also, the iced matcha latte was refreshingly not too sweet. This is a cool gem tucked in a corner that is worth seeking out.

Great location! We were here in October 2021, we had excellent lattes, especially considering we got there quite late in the morning and they were out of whole milk. We don't ever drink lattes with 2% but these were excellent even so, so I imagine they're amazing with your milk of choice. Also had a very very good bagel with pesto cream cheese. This is in my top two lattes I had in Chicago, over the course of a week.

This place is extremely hard to find! Google maps was not helpful. Walked around and around for about 30 mins before we found it. Had the iced vanilla latte. It was good. Very small and cramped to order. Only a few tables for outside seating.

Hip alley coffee shop with exclusively grab-and-go and outdoor seating. I enjoyed the Rose Coconut Cold Brew which had a honey drizzle over the top. Pretty good, I enjoyed it.

Lady with her mask on and protected by a screen window wanted me to put on a mask OUTSIDE to order a coffee. How ridiculous. These are the types of businesses that you should not support.

Delightful coffee shop. Enjoyed a Fast Brew with oat milk, my husband a mocha latte with oat milk. It is a small shop holding about 2 people at a time. The line for walk up service was moving. The online orders appeared efficient. The folks in the shop were smiling and busy the whole time. Give them a good tip. :0)

Get the large…it’s 50¢ more. Oat milk latte was decent. Not the best I’ve had, but it’ll do. Pass on the almost $10 breakfast sandwiches. They are pretty basic and not worth the price. Atmosphere was great @ 11am on a Friday morning. Good breeze between the buildings and hardly anyone there. Found a seat right away.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hero Coffee Bar means business! Their cappuccino is top-tier. Limited seating, but no-nonsense coffee quality in a unique alley spot. ☕💼 #SeriousCoffee #ChicagoCoffee

The vibes here are immaculate, the alley with them playing reggaeton/bachata had me living my best Latina city gal life on a solo date. I tried their summer special; the Rose Coconut Cold Brew , perfect amount of rose! The Hero Bagel with Jalapeño bagel was super fresh! Worth every minute of my 20 min walk here. Def ranks in my Top 10 best coffee shops in Chicago so far.

Wanted a quick coffee break, was in the area and decided to check HERO. Definitely love the alley ambiance. I should have stirred my mocha before starting to sip, most of the chocolate was in the bottom. The Manhattan sandwich was decent… I needed a meal 😝

It’s a super small coffee shop-a good grab and go place. In the summer it’s nice to walk around downtown. The coffee is great though go and great picture spot.

Small and pretty location for a coffee on the go. Seating area available outside, atmosphere is fun and quirky with 2000’s r&b music/playlist! I got a vanilla latte and lavender lemonade. Prices are a higher than average.

I love this place. I call it Harry Potter Coffee, I guess because you walk down this hidden alley to arrive at the wizards of coffee. I read that this location was temporarily closed. I walked by anyways to see if they were actually going to re-open. While reading their posted sign, the door opened and an extremely pleasant person explained to me that they were indeed going to re-open, staffing shortages had been plaguing them, but she was training new staff right now. She then invited me in to allow her new staff to practice making a latte for me. They were all so nice. The iced latte was excellent. Everytime I am downtown this coffee shop is a destination. I cannot wait until they are open and have their chairs and tables out. THANK YOU!

Great place for your morning cup of coffee, or cortado for my visit. Breakfast sandwiches are great! You can buy coffee to help support different charities. Parking is a bit of challenge. Would recommend to walk. For frequent visitor you can get a rewards card!

What a wonderful little spot. The new trainees were dedicated to learning and getting things right. The owner was meticulous in their training and asked the barista to show me my cup to make sure he was pouring the amount of milk I wanted (since they willingly made me something not exactly on the menu). The owner was so friendly and candid about the difficulties of hiring summer help and her dedication to all her Hero locations. On top of it all, my bagel sandwich and beverage were absolutely delicious and the quality of both were excellent. The storefront hides a little bit in a recessed part of the building, but don’t let that make you miss this gem!

Interesting location for a coffee shop that is hidden in an alleyway. Service is nice. Cappuccino is ok though. It's a bit flavorful and aromatic. Spent $5 for it. Also wished they had more options to choose from as the menu is pretty limited.

Cute atmosphere (but should note no indoor seating if you’re looking for that) and convenient to Loop workers looking for a bite! I love their bagel sandwiches (the one with sriracha cream cheese is so good) and they have a nice variety of drinks on the higher price/quality point for a once-in-a-while treat.

Fabulous coffee in an unusual quaint alleyway setting. No bathrooms or frankly no interior whatsoever. Just good coffee.

Very cute instagramable spot. Got a cup of regular coffee there, it was boiling hot and impossible to drink. Unfortunately, I was rushing and couldn't wait for it to cool down, so had to pour it out after a couple of sips. 4 dollars down the drain.

If you like actually delicious, creamy espresso lattes this place is great! It has unique seasonal flavors like a blackberry mocha or rose white chocolate (both of which I've tried and enjoyed) which are super good and thankfully not too sweet like most major chains. The first drink I had here was life changing (finally, a good creamy iced latte!) and now I highly recommend Hero Coffee Bar. This isn't even mentioning the beautiful lit alleyway atmosphere in a great commuter location. The baristas are super nice even though they only talk to you through the window as there is no interior. Thank you!

Service is quick. The seating is outside. We enjoyed an everything bagel with sausage bacon egg and chs and it was delicious.

Located at the end of an alleyway, nicely decorated with lights and garden tables. Would recommend stopping by! They have non-dairy milk alternatives including oat milk. They also have a variety of syrups, the lavender was very light.
