Just moved this from my want to go to favorites. Really cool staff and reasonable prices. The coffee was decent but the date bar was very tasty and unique. I didn’t get to hang out for long but the eclectic decor and overall vibe is cozy.

One of my favorite coffee shops in the city. Great drinks and food, amazing service, and such a wonderful and diverse crowd of people in here every day. Very much a “coffee house” vibe.

👋🏻 Hey fellow Google Maps users! ☺️ I went to this coffee spot/cafe on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 for a remote work day. I stayed from around 10 am - 3 pm. The lady that took my order was very nice. Unfortunately, they don’t have lemons so they were out of lemonade. I decided to give one of their teas a shot. I tried their apricot black tea. I’m a pretty picky person and didn’t end up liking it. Maybe tea isn’t for me. 😭 ☕️ Overall, I had a good experience at this spot. It gave me cozy vibes. They even had board games and puzzles. The music was played at a very good volume, somewhat loud enough for you to hear it as background music, but not too loud. The cushioned bench I sat at wasn’t the most comfortable and didn’t seem to be the most sturdiest. I was able to successfully get my work done and meet 2 of my students in person. I definitely plan on coming back here if I meet with my students again in person. ✨ Extra things that I felt like were cherries on top to my experience being here. I saw the cutest wiener dog ever and the lady that took my order gave the doggie bacon. In the bathroom, the entire wall including the door was a chalkboard. I had to represent the non-profit I work at, College Possible. 💌 I hope this review helps Emerald City Coffee & its current and future customers. Have a nice day! ☺️

Delicious Simone iced latte. I tried it because it sounded interesting. Chocolate, hibiscus and orange peel and it was so good! More like a mocha with hint of orange. I also had to try a breakfast taco which was quite tasty. I love the vibe of the shop!

I have been to a few coffee shops and this is the best I have attended in a while. The art work, music and ambience makes it the ideal spot to work, study or relax. The pesto mozzarella bagel sandwich was good but the iced cafe latte lacked any sugar. The disadvantages are that this place closes early and their kitchen closes much earlier. One day they were opened till 5 but closed the kitchen at 2 pm which doesn't make sense. This is not an example of good customer service and doesn't look good from a business standpoint. I would love to come here again to work if they could open late till 6 or 7 pm.

Very cute storefront there, one of the more affordable local coffee shops. They always have a little news board of local events which is nice to check out. Plus a large selection of board games, puzzles, and books. They also have a back quiet section for those who just want to read or study and be left alone. Lastly, shout out to Arlo. Favourite worker there

I always love to hit up Emerald City when I’m in town for work. The tacos are always awesome and their bagel sandwiches are great too. The coffee also doesn’t disappoint and always hits the spot. Good variety of spots to sit if you need to get some work done. Generally quiet, though seems like the piano gets some love from time to time.

I have gone here for years and every single person who works here is so kind and welcoming. They have two drinks I always get: cold brew coffee or a monk's eye if it's chilly out. They make their own bagels and the everything bagels are really good! A few reviews state that "the staff is always rude" but I find that curious not only because I've had the opposite experience but also because why would you keep going back to a place where people were always rude? Also as a former service industry employee it warms my heart that management here sticks up for their employees.

This place is a pillar of the community. Their staff is awesome the space is super cute, and they provide an amazing amount of support for the lower income members of our neighborhood. That said, the coffee just isn't to my taste. I'm not a coffee aficionado, but the espresso always tastes burned. Maybe it's a roasting choice that other people love. Maybe it's a brewing style choice. To me though, the lattes and cappuccinos always taste fireplace ashes. Honestly, I'll probably keep going. It's convenient on my commute and I'm so grateful for their community efforts. I just hope they'll consider altering their espresso making choices so espresso drinks are brighter tasting and less acrid.

Tried this coffee shop a while back. The coffee and cinnamon roll were okay. Could be a cute place, but was really turned off by the employees who didn’t speak until my friend and I asked questions, and they still seemed annoyed then. No hello or anything. Just not a very warm or welcoming atmosphere.

I love the atmosphere of Emerald City! My favorite things about this shop are the breakfast tacos, the house made lavender syrup, and the daily trivia! The staff is always awesome, whether it’s first thing in the morning or right before close. This place is a neighborhood staple if you’re in the area, and if you’re just passing through I highly recommend you stop in to pick up some nice treats. I have not had everything on the menu, but I’ve only ever had one drink that I didn’t like. Otherwise it’s consistently good, especially the salsa and (again) the house made lavender syrup!

This is a great coffee shop in the Uptown area near the Wilson stop. There's a lot of seating which is great compared to other smaller shops nearby. They have lots of fun games and I loved the specialty coffee drinks they had. Would definitely recommend as a hang out with friends or a study spot - it wasn't too loud but you felt like you could talk!

I have been here 3 times now and have had pretty much the same experience each time. -Great and lovely staff! So friendly and personable. -large space to study or have a chat in -menu is pretty large and confusing at times. -They use retail syrups (a shortcut that takes away stars for me, makes drinks too sugary and are apt to triggering dairy allergies) I’m not even sure what kind of coffee they brew, which is of large importance to me. -space is NOT clean. It’s quite disorganized and mismanaged. -really great food options Definitely worth a quick pop-in for a sweet drink or a satisfying breakfast burrito!

Your standard hipster coffee joint. Don't expect fast service. Don't even expect them to get your order right. Expect a nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, a buy-10-get-one-free card, daily trivia, and very good coffee - especially cold brew. There is a quieter section in the east side of the shop with softer music and usually less patrons, a great place to set up shop and get some work done.

Quite the cozy coffee shop tucked away under the city train. The tacos are not that bad here. Get the Super taco if you're really hungry; the house salsa has a little kick to it. This would be the kind of spot to go to if you're trying to kill time and are near the train. The staff was friendly and attentive with minimal to no hassle or fuss definitely like this place.

Always a great spot to study at (best local coffee shop WIFI in Chi town, besides Starbucks)! Also, the coffee is superb, staff are welcoming, and vibe is pretty chill. Tip: if you’re going there to study, most spots in the back don’t have an outlet (@EmeraldCityCoffee would be cool to add some there if you guys can)!

Wonderful place imo. I live across the street and stop in often. Coffee is great, as are the bagel sandwiches and breakfast burritos. Two rooms for seating/reading/working on your laptop if you want. Every employee I’ve met there has been friendly and works hard. Thank you for having me, I’m really grateful you guys are in my neighborhood!!!! Much love

This is a pretty good coffee spot. They have nice sitting areas and baked goods, but the oat milk they use isn't very good. It's a nice place in the neighborhood, but there are better coffee shops in Chicago.

Have been a huge fan for years. Would go to the Sheridan location almost everyday when I lived over there. Now I stop into the Wilson location occasionally. Coffee is good and consistent, tacos are great, and their pastries are delicious! Best blueberry muffins I’ve ever had.

Great coffee, tasty bagel sandwiches, and a fun atmosphere for reading or catching up with a friend. Not super great for working because it’s a bit loud but a nice hangout spot.

Great coffee space with very reasonable prices. Not a wide selection of food, so I wouldn't go there for a full meal, but for coffee, it's ideal. The coffee drinks are always solid.

My favorite coffee in the area. Every barista and person at the counter is nice. It's my exact type of atmosphere. Very cute spot. Breakfast tacos were underwhelming.

Have been a customer at Emerald City since I've moved to the city 6 years ago, and to this day, it is still my #1 local coffee shop. They have a great selection of coffees, and the breakfast burritos are to die for. Plenty of seating to do work or study too.

Stopped in while visiting Chicago for the weekend. Very neat place! Friendly staff, great coffee, and delicious breakfast tacos. The homemade lavender syrup in my cold brew coffee was phenomenal!
