Overall, a pleasant experience. Good breakfast. Good coffee. I would recommend getting the avocado 🥑 toast with a fried egg. 🍳 The pistachio almond croissant 🥐 was also pretty tasty! Our coffee came out in a timely manner and our breakfast followed. Service was good. 👍 Atmosphere is perfect. Some people were ever working on their laptops.👩‍💻 It’s a coffee house/ brunch spot. I had a cafe mocha with almond milk 👌I would most certainly return! 4/5 ⭐️ because there was dirty tables that stayed dirty for awhile. Very centrally located downtown! Good views 🏙️

We just moved into the neighborhood and decided to try Capital when we walked past. I really love the place! The food we tried was fantastic: the “number 5” sandwich, a croissant with ham, cheese and egg was spectacular, as was the grilled ham & cheese. The pastries were something else, too. We tried a couple of the scones and a superior chocolate croissant. We’ll be coming back here for sure, and will try their order-ahead app too, as there’s a bit of a wait for the food to come out, and quite a few people dining in even at off-peak hours. Really great experience and super happy to have found such a great place mere steps from home! Edited to add: since trying Cupitol for the first time, we’ve gone back several times over the last few weeks, both for breakfast and lunch. Everything we’ve tried has been great, and Cupitol has quickly become our neighborhood go-to.

A very interesting hipster style concept, a place to eat and chill out. We saw at least half of the customers working on their laptops which reminded us of the origins of Starbucks. The food was fresh and the plates had very interesting combinations of flavors. I had the sweet potato bowl with shrimp and it was a very fresh and filling plate. We also had the European breakfast plate and it was also very good. We were greatly surprised by this concept and hopefully they start to grow to be present in other cities. Definitely a place worth visiting

Friendly staff, quick service, yummy food, great coffee but okay alcoholic drinks! Love the vibe and crowd here. The service was fast and friendly. Food was tasty and filling. Coffee was great too. The cocktails, although price was good, weren’t worth it. The lemonade mimosa was okayish and espresso martini tasted below average. Overall love the place but they definitely have room for improvement. We will surely be back for the food and coffee and may be bottle drinks!

Truly such a wonderful experience! Beautiful place, the atmosphere is very laid back, smiling, friendly faces and amazing coffee! Their Mac & cheese was heavenly & it was recommended by a girl who was working up front. There were 2 girls, Paula & Stephanie, both so friendly and honestly made my day because of how sweet they were! Will definitely come back here when I'm back in town. I was only there for a couple days but hands down one of my favorite low key spots in Chicago! A hidden gem!

Cupitol is a beautiful and delicious place to start your day! I stopped in around 10am and ordered a smoothie (Yum Berry) and the breakfast sandwich at the counter, then found my seat outside. They were both very good and a good deal for the amount of food. Would highly recommend.

A well put together coffee shop. The lemon meringue tart is enjoyable and espresso is smooth. Paid just under $6 altogether and is well worth it. Staff is super friendly and service is great. Lots of room and seating. Ambiance here is just right!

Came here because of strong ratings on maps. The place is nice enough. Spacious, nice, clean decor. The staff is ok. The breakfast was competent and generously portioned but not stellar. I had an omelette with hash: both are drier than I would have preferred. Maybe it's that particular style, I don't know.

The SINGLE. BEST. ordering experience I have ever had in a coffee shop. Paola is amazing. Give her a promotion! (Coffees, teas, hot chocolate and yogurt bowl were great. American breakfast was standard. Biscuits & gravy left a lot to be desired) PS- Paula, we are serious about that job if you want to move to Indiana!

Only stopped in here for some coffee, but has a very relaxed vibe and great espresso and iced coffee. The tap water with the handles is a cool unique touch. Service was quick, and food was tasty!

THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD!!! The workers were so nice too! I wish I could go there again but I can’t cause I was on vacation there. I got chocolate chip pancakes and they were honestly the best pancakes I have ever tasted!! The latte was also gorgeous and good tasting!!

I can not say enough about this place! The coffee is stellar, the pastries are baked fresh everyday and addictively good (the lemon ginger scones!!), and their food menu has everything from vegan sweet potato curry bowls to shroomed patty melts (my favorite!). The space is cozy and has a warm ambience, perfect for catching up with friends over brunch/lunch, or getting work done snuggled with your coffee. The seating is abundant, and they also have the cutest lounge area with sofas by the window side. But what really shines about Cupitol is the above-and-beyond staff and the welcoming environment that invites you back every time. Truly makes you feel right at home!

What a great spot! We came here on a Sunday morning. It was very busy but the line was short and didn’t take long. There is plenty of seating, including a couple longer tables suitable for a large group. Feel was a mix of earthy and industrial, very comfortable. Seevice was prompt and polite. The ham and cheese sandwich was delicious - very tasty ham, like Easter! The bread was buttery and crunchy. The sweet potato bowl was very comforting, peppery, and savory. A little heat. A little rice-forward for my taste but still a very tasty dish. Fruit tart was good - including some really juicy blueberries, but on the way out we saw other tarts and sweets that looked even better. Reasonably priced.

A little bit confusing to order if you haven’t been here before. Pick out your table number (already on the tables) and then stand in line so you know what number table they should deliver your food at. I got the Western Omelette which is your standard quality. Great portion size for the cost. The Nutella latte was absolutely delicious and would highly recommend - they definitely know how to make their coffee / lattes! Overall pretty good.

Food: Ordered the Grilled Ham and Cheese with a overeasy egg on the side as recommended by the manager - so savory in flavor. Adding an egg isn't even necessary, just nice extra protein. The sandwich alone is PERFECT. The roasted tomatoes on it give it the extra juiciness and blast of flavor to complete the ham. My sister ordered the Gravlax Bagel. It had an overwhelming amount of salmon on it- a little too much to stomach if you're not into salmon like that as my sister isn't. She took off more than half of it off her bagel and was able to finish it then. If you love salmon, go for it. She ordered a side of sweet potato fries and those had the perfect crisp and browning on them. We additionally each got a smoothie which I wasn't too crazy for either of them. I believe we ordered the Tropical Chia and the Green Goddess. They were refreshing but a little too earthy for my liking, I'd definitely take a hard pass on a smoothie the next time I visit. Service: I will note that the smoothies and food did not come out as quickly as you would hope but that's to be expected with the endless line that is always walking through the doors. This place never seems to be empty or at least not on a Saturday morning downtown in November. Accidentally speaking with the manager and receiving that window booth placement was easily the best part of the experience. (Explained below). Atmosphere: This place is buzzing with moving bodies and chatter. I love how busy it is because it's easy to sink into some work and zone in while the noise around you turns into a nonsense hum. The perfect background noise to sink into studies, work, or just conversation with your sister. The place has ample enough seating with a variety of different seating such as high table tops, booths, etc. When we walked in, I was unsure of the ordering and seating process and asked an employee standing around who happened to be the manager! He kindly pointed out if we were dining in or taking out, he asked if we would like an open booth by the window in the corner, placed a reserved sign there for us and told us we could wait in line for the counter to order. Food would be brought to the table whereas drinks had to be picked up at the counter. That booth was the best seat in the whole place! You could see all the activity on the street as well all the bustling inside Cupitol! Sit there if you can. **Visited in November 2023, just had to leave a review though. Can't wait to visit again.

Great atmosphere to get work done. A lot of people either come here to study, work, or chat. It feels like a place where people can just hang out. Perfectly extracted coffee paired with a croissant led to a great experience

Excellent food and service. The place is packed and rightfully so . Their avocado toast is the best vegan toast I have ever had . Our kids loved their French toast and waffles .

Love, love, love this coffee shop! The menu is very big, so there’s something there for everyone. Not only do they sell specialty coffees, there’s also an array of juices, alcoholic beverages, and a mix of lunch and breakfast options too! The atmosphere is very cozy and when we went there were so many people working on their laptops or stopping by for their lunch break. We will definitely be back!

I went for lunch at 11 o'clock on Tuesday last week. The food was great, the guy at the cash register was very friendly and polite. But my latte was just lumpy and cold, I really don't understand why it wasn't taken care of. Avocado wrap and pistachio croissant was amazing. As far as I know, latte shouldn't be this densely foamy. If I wanted a foamy coffee, I would buy capcino, so I'm disappointed.

Fast service, friendly staff, fun atmosphere with quite a few fun seating arrangements. Smoothies were good, latte was good and so was my Greek yogurt and granola. I’d recommend

Visited twice last week and twice a month ago when I was in town. The food is great and I love the art in your coffee or latte. So deliciously and conveniently located. Fast casual. The ambience and interior are pretty.

Cute little coffee shop. There was a long line on a Saturday so be prepared to wait. The avocado wrap was kinda flavorless but the croissant sandwich was great. There is seating that they assign out upon ordering. Looked like there was a small outdoor seating setup as well. I would go again for the mimosas next time!

Cupitol coffee and eatery has a great ambience of a perfect coffee shop with a quiet atmosphere and huge glass windows. The food is spectacular and there is a wide range of flavors available in desserts/pastries. Great and quick customer service while maintaining the cleanliness is a great combination to have for a place that gets busy. Do visit Cupitol!

I have come here a few times and each time my expectations are meet beyond my wildest dreams... No but seriously this is a great atmosphere, great food and OJ! The turn around rate is incredible and the service is fast from drinks to the food!

Cage open but most of the seats closed off Went on a Friday at 3pm- no pastries left and they closed off most of the coffee house. We went for the cool couches and we weren’t let in because they decided to clean and close it. Why not wait u til closing to clean? Very disappointed

First time coming here and am an avid coffee drinker, I got the caramel latte and it was 8/10 and I also got the banana nut Nutella waffles that were 8/10, their orange juice is so fresh and perfectly balanced! The vibe was very relaxing but outgoing and kid friendly as well. Highly recommend

Decent but overpriced and food didn’t match menu description. I ordered the lox sandwich to go. Their salmon is cured in house so I was pretty excited. The smoked salmon itself was really good but the portion was so small it was hard to taste it in between the thick (somewhat stale) baguette. The description said capers but there were none on my sandwich. It also said herb cream cheese but I’m pretty sure it was just regular cream cheese. The cafe itself was cute, spacious and clean.

Best breakfast experience I’ve ever had. Honestly I’ve not been to a lot of places like this but so far this is my favorite by far. The chocolate croissant and mocha latte were perfect! The juices were really good and the Spanish omelette and classic breakfast were amazing! Will definitely try it again in our next visit to Chicago. Highly recommended!!!

I really love the vibe of the restaurant. Everything was great, the taste, the service. However, it is so completive in Chicago that I feel the food here did not stand out when you compare to some of the other brunch restaurant.

This place is one of the best coffee shop experiences I've ever had. Their food is delicious and accommodating to different dietary needs. Fast service, great atmosphere - coffee drinks are not overly sweet which I so appreciate. Pastry case is amazing as well!

  • 2/5 JJ M. 2 years ago on Google
The line is very long and all the tables are unoccupied. They are unstaffed. The wait for coffee is longer than the food. The cashier seems to be the one who does everything. Food is okay.

Had a beautiful time with my girlfriends here for brunch. They were so accommodating to my friend's needs and the food was wonderful. I had the breakfast sandwich, blueberry mimosa and the avocado dream smoothie. It wasn't too heavy on the stomach or greasy and it tasted amazing!

Amazing breakfast spot. Mascarpone Berry French Toast is awesome, it has a great mix of flavors. Nutella latte is also worth trying, it's not overly sweet and gives a unique take on a mocha latte.

I love the vibe of this place. It has great menu options for vegetarians as well which is a plus for me. Great service, good tasting food and nice lounge chairs. Would definitely recommend it to anyone for a work and brunch place. Love their Avo Toast and also the roasted veggie and hummus sandwich.

I recently visited Cupitol & coffee in Streeterville and unfortunately, I can only give it a 3 out of 5 star review. While the coffee and food were decent, there were a few issues that detracted from my overall experience. Firstly, the wait times were extended and seemed to be disorganized. It was difficult to discern where to stand in line and when my order would be ready. This made for a frustrating experience, particularly during busy periods. Secondly, the line management was poor. The staff seemed overwhelmed and did not seem to have a good system in place for managing the flow of customers. This resulted in confusion and disorganization, which further added to the wait times. Lastly, while I was excited to try their cold brew, I was disappointed to find that it was just cold brew concentrate that hadn't been properly diluted. This made for a very strong and bitter coffee that was difficult to drink. Overall, while Cupitol & coffee has potential, they need to work on their wait times, line management, and cold brew preparation in order to improve the customer experience.

The walk up concept helps orders to be put in and delivered quickly. The vibe was chill and the servers were friendly and welcoming. The food was delivered quickly and tasted great. Definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a laid back, relaxing morning with a wide variety of breakfast options.

Came here for a nice birthday breakfast. We got two orders or cinnamon roll pancakes, two sides of bacon, and the corned beef hash. We also got fresh squeezed orange juice and a bottle of Prosecco to make mimosas at the table. Everything was delicious. Service was quick even though they were busy. The orange juice was the best fresh orange juice I’ve ever had. This has become a place I will visit every time I’m in Chicago and I will recommend to family and friends.

We wanted to go to egg harbor cafe on saturday morning but it turns out all the good breakfast places get super crowded on weekends. There was a 1 hour wait for a table at egg harbor so we decided to find something else around. This place was close by with a 15 minute wait so we went here. We ordered avocado toast, sweet potato soup, toast and hash browns. Hash browns were not seasoned. Sweet potato soup was good, avocado toast was different than the usual ones, it had pesto in it which tasted good. Latte was ok.
