Fun selection of great donuts. The cake donuts are my favorite. Light & fluffy. Not oily at all. The batter/cake has a clean flavor and would be fantastic on its own as a plain donut.

Solid donut shop in downtown Chicago. Fire cakes is a short walk off Michigan Avenue and serves up some elevated donut flavors alongside coffee. On my visit, none of the rotating specialty flavors really spoke to me (I was hoping for some of the ones I saw in reviews) so I opted for the popular plain glazed and old fashioned pistachio ones. Both were the right level of sweet / oily and tasted delicious. The smell of coffee here also tempted me so I ordered a cold brew which paired nicely with my dessert. It was smooth and creamy and not too over roasted. Service is fast and friendly and the decor here really catches your eye.

Excellent donuts with different kind of flavors. I had the pistachio old fashioned and the cinnamon roll. Both were excellent and full of flavor. Service was fast and friendly and restaurant was small but clean and seemed to be carry out only. Definitely recommend if you're looking for something sweet.

You can't leave Chicago without visiting Firecakes Donuts! My world was opened to a new level of birthday celebration tasting their donut ice cream sandwich. Now I see why Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robins teamed up! But even they can't compete with the handmade deliciousness of these donuts. Do sign up for their rewards program if donuts are your guilty pleasure.

Great donuts and great coffee. Awesome way to start the day. The store is small and only has room to order and pick up, but there is some outdoor seating. Haven't tried the ice cream yet, which they're known for, so I'll provide an update when I do!

I was craving for some sweets after work. Came here to for one donut but grabbed 2 instead🤣. I got the peanut butter and jelly & buttermilk old fashion. The buttermilk old fashion was delicious but that peanut butter and jelly was phenomenal. I will definitely come back and try different flavors.

Small donut joint, with a selection of really tasty artisan donuts. I loved the buttermilk old fashioned donut, simply delicious!

Shop is super tiny but they have a decent variety of donuts. No space for sitting except for tables outside. We got the ice cream sandwich donut and I have to say it was the most successful ice cream sandwich experience of my life. Surprisingly a donut is the perfect vessel to hold the ice cream in while taking a bite without the normal toothpaste tube push out the back.

I stopped in here after many years of loving this place in college and it smelled as good as I remembered in there! I ordered the red velvet, Boston cream, vanilla iced and espresso cream. The espresso cream is my longtime love and absolute favorite! The boston cream was also delicious! The frosting on the red velvet was perfect, but the doughnut itself, like the vanilla iced, was kind of stale. Unfortunately the vanilla was inedible, so maybe they should be stored a little differently so they stay fresh even though the presentation is very aesthetically pleasing!

September 2023 Difficult to choose only one or two donuts among all these flavours! We had the naked buttermilk (which was excellent), Valrhona chocolate iced and vanilla iced. They were fresh made, not too sweet and too greasy!

Stopped by for a quick dessert when visiting Chicago. I came for donuts, but they also have coffee and ice cream. There's a glass case of about 20 ready made donuts. Person working the counter was very friendly and helpful. All to donuts looked great, but finally decided on the Churro dount and the Pistachio. There's a nice small sitting area right outside to enjoy the donuts. Donuts tasted amazing. Very fresh, soft, and not overly sweet. I enjoy when you can taste the actual donut for what it is and not just a bunch of sugar or toppings. I wish I had more time or was hungrier as would've ordered more donuts.

3.5 ⭐️- Hit or miss on the flavors We enjoyed 2 (espresso cream and buttermilk old fashion) of the 3 we shared. They were both moist and flavors were good. The 3rd (browned banana) was dry. The topping and taste was over-all good but the donut itself was almost powdery dry. We miss the glazed and infused donut that was a couple of blocks done but they closed down.

The staff is inviting and wonderful. The donuts? Awesome. Enough options for everyone. And plenty of hot and cold drink options of what you would expect for a donut shop. There is a covered and uncovered seating area around the side of the building. Highly recommend.

I had the pleasure of including firecracker donuts for the wedding as a late-night snack option at Monique and Bennett's wedding, and I must say, they were an absolute hit! The variety of donuts offered was fantastic, and their taste was nothing short of delicious. I highly recommend these donuts as a fun and exciting addition to any event. Guests were raving about them, and they truly made the evening memorable. Thank you for providing such a fantastic treat!

All I am going to say is go, go now! They are awesome! First time there and wow. They are also open until midnight or until they sell out. My favorite was the sprinkled donut.

Happened to be right by the shop and wanted to check it out. We got a chocolate banana donut and a buttermilk old fashioned and it’s a bit crumbly, not my favorite i’m afraid.

Firecakes Donuts in Chicago is a small-batch haven for donut lovers, and my recent visit left me with a sweet craving for more. 🍩 We indulged in a delightful array of flavors, including the German Chocolate, Vanilla Iced, Apple Cider, and Sprinkle donuts. Each one was a bite-sized piece of heaven, showcasing the craftsmanship and dedication to quality that defines Firecakes. The German Chocolate was a rich delight, the Vanilla Iced a classic treat, the Apple Cider a burst of autumn flavors, and the Sprinkle an explosion of fun. The shop itself is quite petite, emphasizing the artisanal nature of their creations. With only outside seating available, it adds a casual and cozy vibe to the whole experience. It's a spot where you can savor your donuts in the open air, appreciating the flavors under the Chicago sky. In conclusion, Firecakes Donuts is a must-visit for anyone in Chicago with a sweet tooth. The variety of flavors, coupled with the artisanal touch, makes it a delightful stop for a sugary escapade. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this small-batch donut shop is a treat waiting to be discovered. #ChicagoSweets

Craving something sweet? This is the place to go! The glazed donut is so soft melts in your mouth while the vanilla ice cream just creates the perfect flavor

Excellent freshly made Donuts!! I got the glazed plain and it was soft, fluffy, and sweet but not so sweet that it curls the toes. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices.

Love this place! You cant beat freshly made donuts (yes, they're made there 😍). Not only are there classic donuts delicious, but I love their monthly/seasonal releases. They never disappoint. Let's not mention how yummy their coffee is. I'm obsessed with their Mocha latte (& I absolutely miss their seasonal peppermint bark latte). This location is a small order/pick up shop, but they do have a small outdoor seating for when the weather permits. The staff here does a great job of taking care of customers. Totally stop by if you get the chance.
