A great place for Indian food!! Chai tea too. Wow soooo good. Here’s what we had, in order starting with the most popular items at our table. You’ll see the vegetarian items were the most popular. And the spice level for the food was mild/medium so everyone at the table enjoyed the food. 5 stars - Drinks - Ginger cardamom chai (hot). Spicy masala chai (hot). Horchaitea (iced). All soooo good. They had a spiced flavor, a tad sweeter than we are used to, but that wasn’t a bad thing. Comfort in a cup for sure!! They have non-dairy milk options too! 5 stars - Aloo Chaat - pan fried potatoes with lime juice, onion, tomatoes, cilantro, spices, yogurt, garbanzo beans and crunchy bhel. The best flavor in this. How everything combined into a flavor packed bite, yet refined. 5 stars - Pani Puri - crisp flour puffs (puri) filled with spiced potatoes and a sauce made with tamarind, cumin, rock salt, mint, cilantro, cayenne and chaat masala. Many at that table never had this cold dish before and they all loved it. Another flavor packed bite with a refreshing taste. 5 stars - Savory pies - Curried kale and potato was the best. The spicy minced pork was also good. The best part of their pies is the buttery flaky crust. The curried kale and potato filling (curried kale, potatoes, carrots and peas) was nice and creamy. Included two different chutneys. 4 stars - we had two other dishes. Darjeeling pork momos. Creamy masala chicken curry bowl. The meat eaters at the table said they liked these, although not as good as the food options above. 2 stars - Hot curry wings (curry, spices, hot pepper sauce, lime, honey). Unfortunately these were too salty to consume. They were very nice to make us a new batch and the saltiness was still only dialed down a bit. But their customer service in response to our comment was a 5 star response... 5 stars - Raul was one of the most friendly employees we ever met. He was so patient and answered our questions. Our party of seven had a lot of differing opinion’s, yet he kept a friendly tone and followed every step as we ordered our food. Raul’s food recommendations were spot on. Ordering the right dishes suited for a party of seven is hard, but Raul made it an easy experience because of his knowledge about the food and drinks. As a plus, when we mentioned the wings were salty and that we’re thinking rice could help, he offered to make it right by asking the chefs to make a new batch. He treated our group with kindness and made our experience a great one. Thank you Raul for your exceptional service!

my boyfriend and I normally order chai from here about once a week and have never had a bad experience, until recently. last sunday we came in and there was a line of about four people. after waiting 20 minutes, 2 of the parties in front of us left and we decided to leave as well. we weren’t even acknowledged in the line nor did they seem to care that the rest of the line just left. we always go with the ginger cardamom iced chai it’s our favorite. unfortunately, when we were here today I noticed a cockroach next to the espresso machine and it seemed like there was a few dead bugs underneath the machine as well. we told the barista and he nonchalantly said he’ll take care of it, didn’t even look to see the cockroach just sitting there in the middle of the counter. not sure if/when we will be returning :(

Deliciousness in every bite. Chiya chai offers great South Asian street foods and other entrees also. The chai is outstanding. Alcohol with South Asian spices was unique and excellent. The back room also offers some gatherings once in a while. The place is spacious with nice ambiance. Service was very attentive too.

I was looking for vegetarian options and this is one of the few places that came up. The fries were delicious and the veggie dumplings were surprisingly good! Loved the Horchaitea as well. Food doesn't take too long but wish they'd run it out at the same time. My boyfriend had his food well before I did (steaming dumplings takes longer).

My review is based on 2 complete different experiences at Chiya Chai. Went there pre covid and the food was so good. The right amount of spicy and tasty. We had ordered the hot curry wings, chiya chili potatoes and momo. The chili potatoes was the highlight of the night, followed by wings. During covid, After such a good 1st experience, we decided to do a take of the same order and the food was not that great. The potatoes were not crisps and the sauce did not taste good. Wings were okiesh.

Chiya Chai has been on my visit list for a while and finally got to try it. It was worth the wait. True to its name, this place is a chai lovers paradise. With more than 150 combinations of chai brewed in house, this place will make you come back for more. Chiya chai offers Nepali - Indian cuisine. Love their menu choices, tons of meat and vegan options. They have gluten free options as well. We walked in and ordered our food and then got seated. We tried the pani puri, samosa chaat, deep dish lamb, Kathmandu chicken momos, Chicken Balti pie , and the hot curry wings. We really enjoyed all the dishes. The Balti pie was a 10/10. The chicken and peas curry filing inside was delicious. The momos were excellent and freshly prepared. The lamb dish was amazing. Loved the pani puri and samosa chaat. The curry wings were spicy but really tasty. We got the chai growler to go in the masala chai flavor. We refrigerated it and made chai with it. We used 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 of the masala chai growler . Boiled it and delicious flavor and aroma chai ready in minutes at home. Strongly recommend getting it Overall we had a wonderful experience and will be back again to stock up on chai and enjoy other dishes from their menu. As per the restaurant the lamb dish prepared is halal.

I stopped here for a delicious Chi tea and samosas and ended up walking out with a bag of delicious food. 😋 when I arrived I was greater by the fantastic staff here. As I ordered they informed me that they were no longer serving food as I was ordering just before closing. I proceeded to just pay for my tea and moments later the staff offered me a bag of food which had been ordered but never picked up. I was delighted to find within the bag was vegetarian dumplings which were more tasty than most dumplings I've had. They also gave me meals which included rice, vegetables and tofu. The tofu was seasoned so well that I finished the entire plate without even warming it up!! Such good food combined with a great staff!! 👍

This Nepalese casual spot is really nice place for some tasty small portions but their chai teas are the star of this place. There is a lot of similarities in flavor from Indian cuisine, so if you are familiar with their spice palate, this is a must try. The staff suggested masala chai tea (iced), which was amazing and stayed true to the traditions of this cuisine. Note that halfway through the drink, give it a good stir so the spices (eg cinnamon) mix with the tea as they tend to settle at the bottom of cup. Ordered from the kitchen the hot curry wings which was spicy with a hint of sweet on initial taste. The heat on the back end is quite good and worth a try. The pork dumplings had traditional spices in a chewy pasta pillow. The mint basil chutney was my fave dip for this dumpling, but I also enjoyed the tomato based sauce. A very strong 4.3 stars with friendly and fast service.

    - Coming here since 2017. Best Indian/Nepalese Food and Chai I’ve had in Logan Square. - The momo dumplings 🥟 are DELICIOUS. My favorite ones are the beef. They come with a very flavorful green and red sauce. - If you have not tried the Masala fries with the sauce you are MISSING out. They are packed with spice and the dip pairs heavenly with the fries. - Speak no more: the chai’s are NEXT level. Very nuanced. Very customizable. My favorite is vanilla nutmeg iced with almond milk. The staff personally makes sure it’s always perfect. - Plenty of space for a meeting. There’s an elegant back room for a more intimate occasion or date. They even light candles at night. 🤍 Patio is opened during the warmer months to include your furry friends. 🐕🐈‍⬛ - Lots of parking on Milwaukee. Free on Sundays. - In a great location for night life too.

The quality and the flavor variety of Chai at Chiya Chai is simply amazing. We tried the black cardamom and cardamom pistachio, both of which were rich in flavor. The ambience is very open with plenty of tables and seatings available for studying and working.

One of the curry/masala sauces my wife and I have ever had (the sauce that comes with the masala dumplings and the masala fries, not the tikka masala (although that was very good also)). We were obsessed with the fries and dumplings. The dumplings literally melted in your mouth. The fries were perfectly cooked, seasoned, and came with one of the best sauces ever. All the different chai options are fun. Also, they have one of the best happy hours ever! It’s every dat from 6-9 and it’s $5 margs, old fashioneds, and more! Unbelievable! We also got the pev puri which we enjoyed a lot and the chicken tikka masala which was delicious (although we wished it was bigger for the price). The garlic paratha was good but didnt taste like garlic at all. Everything was very reasonably priced (except maybe the tikka masala). We absolutely loved it here and will definitely come back! Easily top 2 best Indian we’ve ever had anywhere.

This is not what Indian food tastes like, I ordered a chicken rice bowl and one Paratha. Both were horrible, the chicken Tikka rice bowl was too creamy and less authentic(Indian) in taste. And the Paratha(potato stuffed) was a joke, there was hardly any potato and it was too oily and poor in taste. I don't know why this place has such good ratings, I am very surprised. And was expensive for what they serve. Only Chai (Indian tea) was of worth.

A fun place that is trying to serve Indian styled flavorful “chai” and snacks. The taste was close but not similar to an Indian chai - we found it a bit spicy for our taste and they also had a spicy masala chai option. The samosas were ok and similar to what you expect at any other Indian place in the States. They also had a few options for bigger plates, entrées and a wide choice of iced and hot coffees. Staff was very friendly and service was quick.

I was pleasantly surprised at this amazing place for chai. So close to the Bean. Made my bougie heart sing seeing all the fun chai combos. Love that it’s hot hot (so be careful). Had the ginger cardamom small size for $4

Food was just alright. The service was bad from the get go. Everyone's dishes were served at different times....there were only 4 of us. Our Naan was hard and cold, the highlight was the fries. My daughter's chicken pie was served doughy, she didn't want it so asked if she could trade it off for a bowl with chicken, the server said yes, she came back with a bowl with no chicken, the mgr said she couldn't get chicken, never mind that she had to wait 20 mins longer than everyone else for her doughy pie now she had to wait longer for a bowl of chickpeas. Not good for a child. I have eaten a lot of Indian and this is an embarrassment.

Fast-casual Nepalese dining that is also trying to be a coffee/tea shop. There are Nepalese goods for sale and chai take-home growlers.

Food tastes home cooked which hard to find at a restaurant! Ordered Saag paneer, Potato and cauliflower curry, and pork vindaloo. Saag paneer was mild and creamy. The vindaloo and curry were rich and flavorful. Drinks we ordered: iced salted caramel chai and ginger cardamom chai. everything was a hit! Best casual spot in Logan Square.

The curry and chai was excellent!! I only wish I could've tried the Momo's as well. The coconut mango chai was super light and refreshing, definitely worth a try!

I order takeout from this restaurant (I’ve never visited it in person) regularly now, and each and every time the quality of food is fantastic and of the highest degree. I recently ventured out into trying Indian food, and the samosas at this location and their tamarind sauce are literally the best I’ve ever had thus far. Their Creamy Masala Chicken is my go-to entree, and the Garlic Partha is the perfect vehicle to eat the sauce with. I had Indian food in London that I felt I could never find again anywhere else, but this place fits the bill and I will be a loyal customer from now on! Best chai tea in the area, too!
