A lovable atmosphere for a coffee shop. The exposed brick on the walls and flooring sets the tone. I got an espresso for over $3 and it was favorable. It had nice texturing with a little bit of everything. Barista is an interesting individual

Amazing café! The owner is so friendly and charming. The coffee has a rich flavor, not watery like lattes I get almost everywhere else. I got it to go but the interior is super cozy and warm with a decent amount of seating. Will definitely be returning!

Really cozy neighborhood coffeeshop with very tasty espresso. Quality beans and lots of other fare. Friendly owner and sometimes you even get the fortune to sit by a live fire 😊

PSA — a ONE man operation, online order is appreciated to speed up process. Clean-up after yourselves. 🙂 He has loyal fans. 😉 A DESTINATION! One of the very few old school café décor when it was an affordable hippie, not the expensive hipster. Plenty of seating. CTA Friendly — off the Brown & Purple SEDGWICK STATION. A better option than Dunkin. Hearty, moist and well-seasoned GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH comes with avocado slices. I ordered his recommendation as grilled chicken is usually a flop. Excellent value for your $$. I'm happy and satisfied with NUTELLA LATTE. I look forward to the house roasted coffee beans (available online and in-store/caffe).

Highly Recommend: will definitely be stopping here more often. The patte and bacon egg and cheese croissant were great! The place has a very chill-cozy vibe. Seems the kitchen is a one man show but what we got was really good. As signs in the place suggest to put the order in advance on line. All in all I loved this place.

The atmosphere of this coffee shop is unique and fun, filled with local art, cozy furniture, brick walls, and a useable fireplace. The staff is kind and I've only had great interactions here. The coffee and pastries are good and you have a wide selection of beverage options to choose from. The bagels are a personal favorite. They're light and fluffy and you can add a variety of toppings to them to make the meal more filling. In an area of the city that is overrun with chains, Kapéj Coffee is a breath of fresh air. I highly recommend checking it out.

Excellent cafe! We were visiting Chicago and came across this coffee shop and loved it so much we came back the next day! Some of the best coffee we have had and the owner was very friendly and helpful. Overall, great experience and highly recommend! The iced vanilla latte was fantastic!

Super cozy coffee shop by the Sedgwick Brown Line stop that has a wide variety of drinks and food, including croissant sandwiches and bagels. They have plenty of seating for either small groups or individuals working remotely. I got The ham, egg, and cheese croissant and it was really tasty. Will definitely be back.

You walk in and there is an immediate charm to the place. The decor, the art on the walls (from local artists), and smiles on peoples faces are very welcome. The coffee is delightful and exactly what I need in the morning but the breakfast sandwiches keep me coming back. The croissants are huge and delicious and they absolutely stack the insides with a generous portions. Love this as a morning stop

Kapéj is a gem! Warm & inviting atmosphere, many places to sit, and great coffee. The croissants sandwiches are absolutely delicious - half of one is a generous meal for me. Great place to hang out, meet people, have a meeting, or to get some work done. The owner clearly takes great pride in making all aspects of Kapéj a charming experience.

Very Good Coffee- best in the area we felt. The hot latte was very good! and my spouse said the drip was good;she is very particular about her coffee. I'm visiting and this was the best coffee in the neighborhood. 😋 Sitting by the fire watching it snow outside wasn't bad either.

Egg, sausage and cheese croissant: huge size, too salty, not my favorite. Lavender latter: could not smell/taste the lavender at all. Was just a plain vanilla latte. Wi-fi: awful. I came here to do some work and the wifi is very spotty. Does not connect in certain areas. Service: I had to order online because they don't take orders at the counter. Would I come here again? Not really.. Just in terms of coffee, I've had better.

Everyone must visit this delightful gem!! I love everything about this place. The owner is charming and gracious. The atmosphere is cozy and quaint. The sandwiches and muffins are delicious. Most importantly the custom roasted coffee beans create rich yet smooth lattes that are perfectly prepared. Hands down this is my absolute favorite coffee spot!! Oh they also have a huge variety of teas as well.

Wonderful treasure in the area. The staff was super kind and the drinks amazing! A++ for the amount of cream cheese on my bagel too! Got the spiced apple cyder and more mildly addicted. Soo good!!! Full menu with options for everyone, children included.

I stumbled onto this place after my appointment ran over and I needed to sign in to work. So glad I did! It's a big space with plenty of comfortable seating for visiting. The high-backed chairs and tables more suitable for work are also pretty comfortable, too. The person who served me (the owner, I think) was friendly and welcoming. I got the egg, bacon, & cheese croissant and a cappuccino. The sammy is delicious, and even though I'm more of a tea person, my coffee was excellent. I'm glad to have found this place!

We googled breakfast spots near our location and saw some pretty delicious posted images of their food and coffees so we stopped in and it exceeding our expectations. The croissant sandwiches are very large and savory. We got the iced vanilla lavender coffee — definitely get this! Sooo good!

This place is perfect... Nice location in Chicago Great coffee and staff. The decor fits the historical city area. Food was amazing too. They also serve smoothies teas and iced drinks. I'm stopping there first when in the city again

Based on the reviews, I stopped in while visiting. To my surprise and delight, they have pour over. The owner recommended a bean and then did a fresh grind and took time to do the pour right. Delicious, exactly what I wanted. Relaxing in the cozy ‘library’ setting, I was transported back to my 80’s college years, which is a good thing.

outside of the main city. The couches are comfy and the vibe is so cute; brick floor, leather furniture, fireplace, and local art!

Egg and sausage sandwich on a bagel was really good and big enough to be shared with my dining partner. Didn't care for the iced coffee though. Have had iced coffees and cold brews in many different coffee shops....don't know what brand this place uses, but this was pretty bad (to me). I know everyone has different tastes. Atmosphere cozy; place much bigger inside than it looks from the outside.

Amazing coffee. Ate here several times and the coffee tasted amazing each time. I drink coffee black. The multi seed bagel with egg, turkey, cheese are fantastic. The ambiance is very warm and inviting. I know people of all ages and backgrounds will find what they like in this quaint place.

I can't wait to come back here & I can't wait to see this place celebrate their 10th year that's eight more and baby I believe they're going to make it big time! Everything was fabulous from the moment you get in the door and you see the very eye-watering in a good way aesthetic. The coffee and the food was priced at a really really great price as well! 7star!

The chocolate muffin was TO DIE FOR. Great coffee and matcha and the space itself has chairs aplenty perfect for work, study, or a chat with friends. My order came through real quick too despite only one person manning the counter. All in all great spot. Worth the walk from downtown.

Great selection of drinks, the owner truly cares about getting you the best taste in whatever you order. Highly recommend the croissant sandwiches, they're so delicious and wonderfully seasoned. The ambiance of the shop is great too with art from local artists displayed, and a working fireplace to cozy up to on cold days.

Great coffee and sandwiches with fair prices! Drip coffee, pour over, and delicious lattes. Love coming here to get work done. Comfy seating with a wood burning fireplace sometimes going during the cold months. Owner is very friendly and passionate. Highly recommend.

My favorite coffee place in Chicago. Picked up the new! pulled pork panini and pink lotus energy drink today & I was not disappointed. The panini is delicious with spring greens and avocado. You can tell the owner puts a lot of care into his drinks and dishes. The shop & barista pull the place together to create a wonderful atmosphere that always make me leave happy. Thanks!
