I ordered my son's birthday cake from Alliance Bakery. He's obsessed with deep sea creatures and wanted an anglerfish cake. After some emails back and forth, we settled on a design, and I couldn't have been happier. I am just amazed at the quality of their work. My son was so excited and guests were absolutely amazed. Every detail was considered (even the inside of the anglerfish's mouth!). Fantastic! Thank you!

This bakery has been here for over 100 years. They are definitely doing something right. Great pastries, cookies and cakes. After 7pm the store is half off. Their cakes are decorated so cute! On the pricey end but worth it. Fresh and tasty. Also the store has a very relaxing let's eat cookies and walk around town vibe.

Stacy and Alliance Bakery were such an incredible part of our wedding day - if you're looking for dessert for any occasion, they should be your first stop. Not only was our wedding cake beautiful and delicious, Stacy helped me through an eleventh hour panic, reducing the size of my cake and supplementing with a variety of additional desserts, helping me to avoid surprise catering fees as well as accommodate a variety of guest allergies (gluten free, dairy free, etc.). She and the bakery were exceptional to work with, and provided truly wonderful desserts for our wedding - we cannot recommend them enough. For your elaborately designed cakes to your everyday desserts, Alliance has your covered with customer service that cannot be beat.

We used Alliance Bakery for our wedding and can’t recommend them enough! We worked with Celina at our tasting to not only to sample the flavors but also create the design and size of our cake for 150 people, which turned out beautifully and so delicious (we went with 3 layers of chocolate, vanilla and chocolate iced with buttercream in each of our 3 tiers). She tied the look of the cake to our wedding decor so well! Then, Peter helped us coordinate the day-of delivery and also worked with our florist to top the cake. 10/10 would eat here again and recommend them for big events! :) - Nadia & Jordan

I placed an order for a custom 6-inch birthday cake on 9/12/23 and pickup on 9/31/23. I paid in full on 9/16/23. I showed up to get my cake and I was informed that it was never made. Someone 'forgot to put the order through.' Then I was told they couldn't rush order my simple cake design for the next evening because their decorating supplies were at the other location. I was offered a pre-made cake that was the same flavors as my order and a 50% refund. These were the most unapologetic and emotionless people I have ever spoken with, not once did anyone say "I'm sorry" or show any sign of actually caring about this horrible mistake. I accepted their offer ONLY because I couldn't leave without something for my mother's birthday. Then a week went by and I didn't have my 50% refund, so I called them 3 times with no answer. I called again the next day and was told that there was no manager there at the moment and they're the ones who handle this kind of stuff. They said they would talk to the manager and call me back the same day or the next. No call ever came. I had to call 3 more times over the next 4 days and give my story to 2 more people. Finally, after 12 days, my measly 50% refund came in. At this point it should have been more. Save yourself the trouble and order somewhere else. The cake wasn't that good anyways, Trader Joe's is better.

Our wedding cake was amazing. Words can’t describe how beautiful they made it. Not only was it a site to see but the red velvet we went with was to die for! Highly recommend them

One of THE most unflattering cupcakes I've ever had. I love cake in general but these cupcakes made me feel sad. The icing is oddly dense but doesn't even budge/smear when you put your finger on it. It had the consistency of one of those stress toys kids play with. It doesn't even taste like cake. I took a video of it cause it blows my mind how a cupcake could be this weird of a consistency.

This review is lonnngggggggg overdue. Alliance Bakery is an enchanting spot that happens to be placed right here in Chicago. I stumbled upon this place in early March 2021 while searching for a custom Among US cake for my daughter and they did not disappoint. The cake was beyond my expectations and more. The flavor was absolutely delicious and everyone wanted more!!! The cake blew everyone away and my daughter loved her cake sooooooooo much. We had the most amazing experience and it was all due to the cake, because it brought it all together. I will definitely order from Alliance Bakery again for her next custom cake. I have also tried almost all of their brilliant and gorgeously made desserts. The staff there are just so lovely and I appreciate all the love they put into their desserts. I HIGHLY recommend everyone visit!!!!

My mom loved her cake! I was extremely busy during the times I scheduled to drop off flowers and pick up the cake but the staff were courteous enough to call me, and extend the time to bring the flowers and hold the cake until the next day. The cake itself looked pretty and tasted good. Everyone at the gathering enjoyed it.

My husband and I ordered a vanilla cake with ganache filling and white Italian meringue buttercream for our October 2023 wedding. It was absolutely delicious and beautiful decorated as requested! Many of our guests complimented the cake saying it was the best wedding cake they have ever had.

We used Alliance Bakery for our wedding cake! We actually had 2 cakes- a bride's and a groom's. Stacy was great to work with! There was a lot of back and forth on size, tiers, flavors, etc, but she was patient as I slowly made up my mind. The tasting here was the yummiest out of the approx 4 bakeries we tried. I had been told by another bakery that it is standard to have a faux cutting cake with sheet cake in the back. This was not my preference and thankfully Alliance said their standard is to make the entire cake real! Everything turned out just the way we wanted!

I am so disheartened to see the gradual decline in communication and customer service here. I have been a loyal regular since 2015 and this last experience left such a bad taste in my mouth. I had ordered a custom cake for pick up at the Division location but was informed I had to pick up at the Grand location (even though their website and email signatures allowed Division pick up). Then I found out my sweet friend also ordered a surprise custom cake for me. Which was going to be picked up at the Division location. I called and asked to pick up both cakes from Division and was confirmed. Then I called two more times week prior to confirm and got the confirmation for a Division pick up. Day of pick up, only one of my cakes was at division and I was met with “not my fault, go to grand”. I drive to Grand and get told it’s at Division. The amount of miscommunication internally and to customers was so frustrating and disappointing. They ended up finding my cake at Grand and when I asked to speak to a manager, they tell me they’re not around and they would call me on Monday. It’s Wednesday and no call. No accountability and no service. The cakes come at a premium price point so you’d think they’d care about their customers and people a smidge more.

The croissant was ordinary and lacked the buttery appeal. Parking difficult even with a loading zone.Service average.Decor classic elegance. I will be back only if I spot an open parking spot. My husband and I chose Alliance bakery for our wedding cake this summer and loved our experience with them. We only wanted a small cake for cutting, and they accommodate all of our requests! The design was absolutely beautiful, the tasting process was easy and fun, and they delivered the cake to our venue with no issue, even with the smaller order. We also loved the flavors they offered - it was hard to only pick one! The cake was incredibly fluffy and flavorful and the filling creamy and delicious. Amazing! We worked with Peter to get a beautiful cake for our daughter 's baptism. It turned out stunning. Our guests also loved the flavor.

I ordered from this Bakery for the first time and they will definitely be my go-to Bakery from here on out. First, the service is amazing...through email and in-person. Second, the artistry displayed through the designs on the cake is beautiful. I ordered a cake that looked like a Medicare card...it looked so real. Everyone at the party was blown away. Last but not least, the actual cake was delicious!! It was like eating a flavored cloud or something...so soft, moist, and flavorful. Sometimes decorative cakes are stiff and lack flavor, but not here. The only negative is that you have to pay for your cake in full upfront, so if you have an issue you'd have to be refunded retroactively. I didn't have to worry about this because everything was perfect but just something to keep in mind. I say all of this to say, you will not be disappointed one bit. I am a fan of this Bakery for life.

Josh & the staff at Alliance Bakery did a tremendous job bringing my vision to life. The cake not only looked amazing, but was moist and delicious! Their chocolate chip cookies are delicious too!

Good pastries with some staples and some specialized. Coffee is good and if you're looking for a really nice custom cake this is the place to go. However I'm knocking this to four stars as is gone downhill over the years. I'm not sure if they've lost business or there's been a change in ownership, but they've lost two of their three storefronts and their variety isn't what it used it be. There's no longer any seating, so if you're looking for a place to work remotely or read while enjoying your coffee - this isn't it. And even then if you're thinking of making this your daily coffee/croissant there's a lot of other options that are just as good, if not better. Still, this is worth going to, especially if you're looking to get a custom cake.

My husband and I did a lot of research and some tastings while on our search for a bakery to create our wedding cake, and we are so thrilled that we worked with Alliance Bakery for our big day!! Not only were we able to purchase some samples of our desired flavors, but the team at Alliance was so helpful and responsive to all of our questions along the way. They were kind and professional, and on top of it all, consulted with us to custom design our absolute dream cake!! Our vision was not your traditional wedding cake, and we were even told by other bakeries that we needed to stick to the flavors listed on their site. Alliance didn’t shy away from our vision and leaned fully into it and for that, we are so grateful, because our dream wedding cake became a reality and was an absolute dream come true. Our cake was also delivered smoothly and on time. Thank you, Stacy, and to the pastry chef and whole Alliance Bakery team!!

I have ordered a cake from them for the past 5 years for my oldest. I decided to order one for my youngest’s first birthday. Designs were beautiful. However, the taste was not there. I’m not sure but each year it seems as if they are putting less and less effort into the actual tasting of their cakes. Sucks that because of this issue I will have to find a new bakery to work with.

I contacted Alliance Bakery 4 days before a surprise birthday lunch to create a cake. They were able to accommodate my requests and the end-result was gorgeous but most of all, it was the most delicious cake I've ever tasted! The flavors were: vanilla cake with lemon curd filling and raspberry rose buttercream filling, with Italian buttercream frosting. This will be my new "go-to" bakery, do not hesitate to order from here!

I've had a lot of wonderful treats from Alliance over the years, but only recently ordered my first custom cake from them. I ordered a cake for my mother's birthday and was so happy with how it turned out. Visually, it was so dainty and sweet. The flower design was really pretty and well done. I ordered a banana cake with salted caramel filling and Italian buttercream frosting. It was so *@&#^$ good. I have family members who don't normally care for cake that loved it and actually ate whole entire pieces. :) It was honestly one of the best cakes I've ever had. 6 stars.

Please DO NOT shop at this particular store. Bought a chocolate croissant & another dessert item, yesterday (see receipt attached). The chocolate inside the chocolate croissant size is laughable! It’s more like a plain croissant. Spending over $4.00 plus tax for a decent chocolate croissant is UNACCEPTABLE if you couldn’t even taste the chocolate. It’s not flaky either! Don’t waste your MONEY & ENERGY at this establishment# First impression is CRUCIAL### There were 2 people who worked in the store, a man & a woman, not what you call a decent customer service either, no greetings, not thanking me for buying their products#

11/26/23 Ordered a carrot cake and I got a cup cake , I was charged $95 , called the store to get a replacement or refund. So many wrong in this situation: 1) they admitted they thought something was wrong with the order when packing it . They couldn't confirm if it was cupcake or cake !!!!!! They couldn't even see the total amount on their system . 2) they asked me to come get the cake at the store ( no , I can't that's why I ordered via grubhub) 3) no one between the 2 staff can deliver a replacement ( send it through Uber delivery) 4) there's apparently no carrot cake in stock ( so why are you telling me to come get the cake and you can't deliver when there's even nothing to deliver !!! ) 5) can't refund me because they're locked out of the grubhub system .
