Wow! We went there on a busy Saturday night and loved the vibrant and lively vibe! The Pollo (chicken) and Carne (steak) tacos were great but we really loved their Pastor (pork & pineapple) tacos. Great decor and even better food!

Some of the best tacos I’ve ever had! The steak tacos get a 10/10 from me. The chicken and fish tacos were also delicious. The chips & mango guacamole were incredible. Mercadito is officially on my favorites list.

Two thumbs up. We were a table of 3, ordered 7 items and was served and out the door in 40 minutes in a Saturday night at 6:45pm. That was incredible service. This place was very lively and loud. A bit upscale so avoid jeans or shorts. I did not see kids inside but saw a family outside with the kids eating Mac and Cheese. My favorite was the mango guacamole as well as the spicy sweet corn. Dishes are moderately sized. I suggest getting a variety of items and sharing. Plenty of veg options.

A very good Mexican restaurant in the downtown Chicago. It is near to the merchandise mart, Clark bridge and open until 10:30/11:00 pm (check daily schedule). The interior setting is very nice with good seating space for large parties as well as a bar to hangout if you would like. Their have very good quick bites options like varieties of guacamole (like their mango one :)) and other ones. The service is good generally except when their are a lot of guests in the restaurant. A valet parking is available in case the road side paid parking is not available, that is generally the case during evenings.

Stopped here for an early dinner. We sat at the bar and got served really quickly. Staff was very friendly and the food was very tasty. If you get a small plate I’d definitely recommend the Queso Fundido w/ Chorizo. Such a good meal.

modern and trendy Mexican vibes. Perfect date night. The food was simply amazing. You must go with the traditional guacamole and tomatillo sauce for appetizer. Queso fundido con rajas was also to die for - so good! Didn’t think I would comment on tortilla chips, but they were hot and fresh. For entree, I highly recommend the carne tacos, but the shrimp and brisket tacos were also delicious. I think the corn tortillas were handmade which was impressive. A variety of cocktails and the margaritas were good. customer service is superb. Valet parking available.

Food was good and tasty drink same as good. We got to round of the same drink and two dishes( pescadilla, street quesadilla, I forgot to take pictures it was to good). I think it was little pricey $103, for two people. But I guess is ok for an anniversary celebration.(You also need to show Validation of Covid vaccine)

The place was at 100% capacity and was a pretty raucous environment. It's so noisy it's difficult to enjoy the company of your dinner mates. Felt like most of the patrons were there to get wasted instead of enjoy a meal. Would suggest trying lunch or early dinner, maybe the environment is better then. Was happy with the quality of food except for the tres leches, which was unexpectedly absolutely drenched with alcohol. Service was mixed. They are really on top of filling up your water which is amazing, but one of the items I ordered never arrived and I had to have them take it off the bill. Overall ok experience.

Individual from Southern California I was not expecting the Mexican food in Chicago to be this good. The passion fruit ceviche was great and the tacos were really yummy. We got the carne asada and the pastor tacos. The salsa just wasn't really that spicy which was kind of a shame. Even the ghost pepper one that they said was supposed to be really really hot just really was lacking. I would just go for the tomatillo because that was really great. The habanero Margarita was actually quite good and asked for it extra spicy. The flan was just mediocre. Would for sure go back for the tacos.

Where to even start. Best meal and dining experience I've had in years. First of all, 2 ladies stopped by with freshly-made margaritas and man oh man were they fantastic. The service was impeccable - 0 missteps. The food was indescribably amazing. So many flavors and everything was beautifully cooked and beautifully presented. Not quite Mexican, not quite latin but this place should definitely be in your plans.

Came for restaurant week. The food is good but not great. I found the serving size to be small for what the price. Didn't leave hungry but expected more. The service was quick and efficient. We were charged service and extra surcharge which I found odd. Also they charged us for a small pot of mild salsa which I found distasteful. Having such a variety of great mexican food in the area I don't think this is worth it.

This was our first time here and it did not disappoint! We just happened to come during the special 15th anniversary menu and were able to try three different kinds of tacos. They were all great, but the carne was our favorite. We also really liked the guac and corn as well. Their drinks were also very tasty! Everything was very good and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back!

I came across this restaurant from seeing a review here on Google, & it definitely lived up to the hype! We had chips & salsa, classic strawberry margaritas 🍓🍹, queso fundido with the works, & chicken & steak tacos🌮 🌮 Everything was superb 👌🏾 the ambiance was warm, with candle lighting on the table, the service was top tier, and the crowd was very mixed with the age & ethnicity of the customers. Yes, for a Mexican restaurant, it is PRICEY, but if you're like me, a great experience is worth the price. & this one was. Absolutely had a memorable date night & we will return again🤍

I would give 5 for the food. They have delicious mouth watering tacos, drinks, and other food here. The service I would give 3 to 2 stars only. We dined in a party of 9, 3 of us had to squeezed in one very small table despite of our tons of orders. I kept asking our waitress for a table or a chair atleast for the 3rd person and she kept saying no! There are vacant chairs and tables around. The waitress was also strict where our friend will put his coat. So we had our friend sat awkwardly in the long chair and put his coal behind my already small chair.. it just felt weird and not right. We just decided to ignore it and enjoy our night. I just have this need of leaving an honest review about it so it won't happen again, and management would teach their waitress not to treat people like they are in the canteen or in just a cheap restaurant, because The restaurants was in a great location and offers delicious food, it has potential to look classy. Just do something about the attitude of the staff so it will radiate classy atmosphere. I am only posting photos of the food and drinks that what I had, not including the food and drinks of the rest of our party. June 9, 2022- we ate here because we love the food and it didn't disappoint us. The service was nice and fast. We were seated outside so we are comfortable, it looks like they gave enough spaces between tables inside of the restaurants. Our food attendants was nice. Changed 4 to 5 stars.

Love this place. The food is delicious no matter what you order. The Pollo and Carne tacos were so good and the sauces were delicious. The vibe is pretty lively and serve is friendly and quick. Maybe request the "off menu" spicy sauce if you like your stuff with a kick. Definitely check out this place!

Tasty tacos, great cocktails, awesome service. Only reason I went 4 stars is because I ate guacamole and tacos and came out of there for $150+…seems a little salty but it’s downtown Chicago so I should expect that. I just don’t feel right doing 5 stars for a taco joint. I’m definitely going back though.

This is a social spot with great ambiance and good vibes. Definitely a place to mingle and meet professionals. Maybe even great for meeting a great guy if you single( wink) A upscale restaurant with 2 floors. The salmon was good but kinda bland, little to no flavor. My guy friends tacos were delicious . Plating was nice, service was attentive. I would come with alone to mingle, or with a female friend. Small tables

Great place, recommend if you’re seeking Mexican food. Chips w/ guac and salsa were great. Everything was fresh. Guac had a lot of fresh lemon juice, which I like. The salsa had a solid kick to it (we got the medium version). Had carne tacos and loved them. Skirt steak had a great grill flavor. Star of the tacos for me was the leek poblano fondue. Deep flavor of the leeks and poblano peppers. A perfect complement to skirt steak. Tortillas were good. Also had a mezcal cocktail with the right amount of smoke and spicy that I wanted.

Tacos were delicious. The mushrooms were particularly good. I liked the shrimp tacos but they were a little spicy

A fun and upscale Mexican restaurant, which honestly was a refreshing experience. The flavored margaritas are just beyond awesome here and a must try. I'll also recommend the tacos, they are very fresh tasting. Infact everything Mercadito offered was fresh and new, and wasn't like your run of the mill Mexican place at all.

Had a fabulous dinner yesterday at Mercadito Restaurant Chicago. Everything was excellent. The staff and kitchen are unmatched for personality, professionalism, speed and communications. Every dish was lively and music was perfect. Tacos were elevated to a perfect 10. The scene was energetic and friendly. Can't say enough about our waiter! Highly highly recommend Mercadito.

Sat outside on a Thursday evening. Fun outdoor atmosphere where you can have a conversation. Outdoor tables are very close (so if you are seated near a loud patron, it can be hard not to hear them). Located on a lively street with a lot of foot traffic - I loved the outdoor string lights in this area. i enjoyed the mahi mahi tacos, tomatillo salsa and chips and margaritas. Extra points for the soft corn tortillas!!! Very attentive server.

Delicious food. A Mexican food restaurant but with a new style. Drinks were incredible! Definitely will come back. During the weekends try to get a reservation if you're planning to go here. The service from the waiters could be better though.

Delicious steak tacos and guaq. Your not really allowed to get like two of each taco or make substitutes, they come how they come. But very very good.

I had a dinner date with my girlfriend here on 31st night. The ambiance was fantastic, the staff was welcoming and they had a live music going on. On that particular day they offered a fixed menu but we requested the customization they honored it. We enjoyed the dinner, the drinks were awesome we tired multiple drinks the margaritas were top notch. Overall this is perfect place if you are looking for dinner date. They even help with special requests. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Chicago.

The restaurant has a nice ambiance and is very lively. In fact, it was very loud in the restaurant on a Friday night. The service was very good and our server was very helpful with the menu suggestions. Food overall was good, with couple of items that clearly stands above. The Mango Guacamole and chips are very good. The Sweet corn was good. We had the brisket taco, and it was a bit on the dry side for my taste. The habanero hot sauce, it has excellent flavor but is EXTREMLY spicy. The star of the night however for me was "pollo a las brasas". This might be one of the best chicken dishes I have ever had. Has EXCELLENT flavor and comes with a perfect combination of rice/plantain mix. I might just go straight to this from the Guac next time.

The food was ok, the service not 100% the best. We had a reservation for 7 and didn't get seated until 7:35. Once we got our table, we were told that there was a hour limit for each table and it could take an hour or longer to get our food. We still stayed and ordered. I ordered the queso and asked for it to come out before the rest of the food. We got our food 45 minutes later and everything was cold. We still ate it; flavorful just cold. We ordered another drink in hopes that the queso would still come out but it never did. We also had to chase our waitress down for our check so that we could cancel the queso.

My favorite drinks in the city, I love the Los hermanos! Last night was restaurant week, and super busy but the whole staff was super communicative and attentive. I was so impressed, always the best Mexican in the city.
