Very clean and well organized. How often do you get a library and a museum at the same place?? I enjoyed my visit there saw a lot of display of the ww1 crafts and badges and read some of the history being displayed on the wall. You get to watch the video about the history on the TV on 3rd floor. So after my museum tour I came back to 2nd floor to study my books got 2 in one! But I think 3rd floor is more quiet if you choose to study and the library/museum is not free you will have to pay $5

Wonderful museum devoted to those who serve...a real inspiration! Located directly across the street from the Art Institute of Chicago, in one of Chicago's many historic and beautiful buildings. I just saw the POW exhibit, Life Behind the Wire. This is such an important exhibit to see...a whole lot to really take in. We can't and won't ever forget the individuals who sacrificed their own freedom and lives so we can be free!

This is an interesting museum, though I would like to see it increased in size. Special exhibits are always interesting. The only permanent exhibit is on the Congressional Metal of Honor. It is worth stopping by to see.

My friend and I were lost in Chicago, and stumbled upon the museum. I recently finished the book ‘the things they carried’ by Tim O’ Brien so it was pretty sad to see the dog tags hanging from the ceiling. The decor is beautiful, and I will definitely be back

Pritzker’s glorification of war memorabilia and hosting an archive of military history is rooted in her upper-class’s desire for grandiosity and a high-end architectural building with her name on it. Instead of glorifying wars and spending untold trillions on the industrial military complex, or multiple millions on this weird, red metal and glass “tank inspired” museum structure in the middle of an empty farm field is just wasteful beyond all imagining. Without knowing history we are likely to repeat it, but it’s more likely that if you have billions of your own money you instead get to sit around and watch the average population send their sons and daughters off to war, while you collect “I LIKE IKE” lapel campaign buttons. “Lt. Colonel” Jennifer Pritzker (formerly James Pritzker with an honorary title of his/her actual lower sergeant ranking), never saw any war action themselves and was an aviation repair parts clerk for 3 short years. The rich whisper. Come and forget the actual events. America didn’t join WWII. Our embargoes (steel and petrol blockades), against Japanese invasion of Asian mainlands was seen as and act of war so the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor to eliminate US war ships in the Pacific that were impeding Japanese national sovereignty. It had nothing to do with the US wanting to fight Nazis.

A very small museum which currently focuses on the career of famed cartoonist Bill Mauldin. It has works ranging from his early schooling in the 1930s all the way through to the 90s. There is also an alcove dedicated to medal of honor recipients. Sad that most of the blurbs about how they earned the honor end with "he sacrificed his Iife in service to his country"... Still, interesting and not to touristy. Worth a look for the military history buff.

I was very excited to go to this museum to research more about my grandfather and great grandfather. Unfortunately it was a really really small war museum. I upgraded at the counter to get the membership to use the library and there were only 4 shelves of war books on location. It does come with a digital access and I guess in Wisconsin they have a larger library they can loan their books to a reciprocal library.

A very nice little museum. I came specifically to see the trench art, but enjoyed the entire collection.

This place is dope! They've got a wide variety of cool exhibits--I'm especially a fan of the earthquake simulator, aquarium, and rock and mineral collection. I wanted to go in the rainforest orb, but it was closed by the time I got to it :( NightLife is an experience you should definitely have if you live in SF and have even a passing interest in science. It's half the price of normal admission, the music is good, the presentations are unique, and the smattering of drink tables offer some pretty unique refreshments. Check it out!

Lots of information, Civil War, WWI, WWII and Vietnam. A lot of personal diaries for documentation. I personally feel some information was left out, so do your own research.

Very nice location in a beautifully restored building, but not enough content to make a visit worthwhile.

Practically scam museum. The collection is not as magnificent as its name. Even visiting for free, I did not like there. Consider yourself paying 8 dollars!

Disappointing experience. Their exhibit on the war of 1812 had a rifle, a pistol, four pins, and about 25 prints.

It was neat and clean. Not any interactive exhibits. Mostly reading and POW info. Not actual items on display. Staff was friendly.

Lots of exhibits worth seeing, everyone should take a look. The library and the entire building are beautiful, I was most captivated by the ceiling in the corridors, among other things.

Have been wanting to come here for so long and we finally made it here. We were lucky enough to get VIP tickets to the museum so we were able to access the Infinity Room easily. The museum is very interesting and there's a lot to look at. The staff was super nice and we honestly had no complaints. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

Currently dedicated to the life work of cartoonist Bill Mauldin, especially his WW2 work that earned him a Pulitzer, coupled with a sampling of his later political work. A very nice Medal of Honor display complements the exhibition. Spent a little over an hour there reading through the cartoons and exhibits.

They were doing an exhibit on the Army cartoonist Bill Mauldin. Very interesting exhibit. FYI only members are allowed into the library otherwise the museum just has an entry fee.

Free on veterans day the place is on the second floor would have enjoyed more if they had more exhibits I was planning to spend 2 to 3 hours there but it's short 1 to 1.5 hours but really good information for me it's not worth paying go when it's free

Very cool experience, I learned so much about American prisoners of war. It was completely empty and quiet aside from me and my friend, so that made it peaceful and lovely. We got to read all the plaquards and information without being pushed around. and there are huge windows surrounding it with a view of the city and Milleneum Park. it is definitely small though, don't expect more than an hour of exploration time.

Takes about an hour to get through the museum portion. The "Drawn to Combat: Bill Mauldin & The Art of War" is an exhibit that provided insight to multiple wars and topics in the military through art with a touch of humor. All from Mauldin's first hand experience. Would recommend to visit. Pritzker Military Museum staff were very friendly both on the phone and during the visit which is always greatly appreciated and an addition to a wonderful experience.

If you are at ALL interested in military history, definitely come here and see the POW exhibit, running through April 2023.

This is a great library ❤️👍. I've always felt welcome and you can use services and sign up as a member with a small fee, even if you're not military. The staff is great! You get invited to speeches, events and receptions when a member 👌.

I learned a lot about the treatment of American POWs in Germany and in Japan at special exhibit at the museum. One suggestion: I watched part of the documentary on POWs on the TV in the museum but I didn't finish it because at 72 years of age, I get tired standing up for long periods of time. I suggest that you put a bench in front of the tv so viewers can sit down.

Stopped in to see the Bill Mauldin exhibit. It was great. Then I saw a Medal Of Honor alcove. They seem to have forgotten Milton Olive who gave his life to save his fellow soldiers. MOH 1965. Theres a Chicago park named after him. Come on, Pritzger, honor the local heroes.
