👍👍 I loved my visit here today! The women who run this place showed me and taught me so much about Ukrainian culture and how they made progress here in the USA. I learned all about Pusynka eggs and was able to purchase a few made from wood. I encourage everyone to go and learn about this beautiful cult... The people who work there are WONDERFUL! Very interesting and short museum about the history of Ukraine. Make sure to have someone who works there to tour and tell you about the pieces that are there. Very interesting to learn about another culture! Admission fee is $5 (Cash and Credit Card accepted)

Was very delighted to have spent an hour and a half in this small museum. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, which turned our whole experience into visiting a friend's home in Ukraine. Meanwhile the museum had a pysanky(Easter egg) decorating workshop that uses beeswax and natural dyes throughout the extended delicate procedures. If you are curious of Ukrainian history, this is a must stop in Chicago!

We loved visiting this museum. I was very surprised by how emotionally moving some of the exhibits are. We spent about 2 hours here and could have easily spent 3 or 4. The entire staff is so friendly and happy to share about the various times in history, exhibits they have, and their own stories. If you are interested in learning about Ukraine or have any family ties, I highly recommend stopping in and giving yourself at least an hour to visit. They do have free on site parking (I was slightly worried about parking before we got there). They have a large variety of beautiful items and history, along with information about current events. The only draw back was not having enough time to read and see everything. Many times when we go to a museum we don't read or see every little thing. But here I would absoutley have loved to taken the time.

We popped in here on a whim, which turned out to be one of the best little experiences of my weekend in Chicago. The museum guide was recently displaced from Ukraine and had a lot of interesting information - historical, modern and personal- about the exhibits in the museum. He was also very able to tie the exhibits to everyone's personal ethnic background. We learned about the Kyivan Rus, the displacement camps, and a great deal about the Ukrainian mindset. I'd read some of the history of Ukraine when a friend doing PhD work in Crimea was displaced during Euromaidan in 2014, but it was beyond helpful to hear everything from the perspective of a recent resident. Absolutely recommend stopping by if you're on Chicago- it's a small museum but certainly has a mighty history 🇺🇦

Wish there was a bit more at the museum, but the exhibits they do have are great. I think what made this a 5 star visit was the recently displaced doctor who is now the guide, he does a wonderful job explaining Ukrainian history and describing them as they are today. Great experience!

Our visit here was so informative! The staff showed us around and shared lots of Ukrainian history. Right now there is a photography exhibit demonstrating the parallels between WWII and the current war - it was powerful.

Great museum. I was especially captivated by the folk costumes, very colorful with light decorations. You can also learn a lot about history and culture that I had no idea about before. I recommend visiting.

Fantastic museum!! Really interesting exhibits and the staff was AWESOME. Halyna was a great host and walked me through all of the exhibits, giving lots of detailed information. She answered every single question I had (I had tons of questions) told me lots of stories about life in Ukraine, where I need to visit when I go there, etc. She is an expert and clearly loves her job. This place went WAY beyond my expectations and I couldn't recommend it enough

Except for the life sucking monster traffic congestion and parking nightmare that is present at any given time, Chicago, IL is constantly evolving and improving itself as a world class destination. With so much to see and do, it can be difficult to narrow down your options. So let me help you out ... a visit to Ukrainian National Museum is a must. And I'm not just saying that because admission is free. Yup. It's free.

I'm sure visiting this museum after the Russian invasion of Ukraine is a very different experience from before, but there's lots of very educational exhibits in the museum. It'd say it leans more on the historical side than the cultural side, but it's really cool to be able to visit somewhere and really dive into the history of a people.

It's one of the best small-museums I've ever been to. The whole experience we had was significantly worthier than the the small fee they charged us - just $5 per person. Strongly recommend having their in-house, free tour-guide. I can't clearly recall her name (sorry) but she was very passionate about and explained the rich history and traditions of Ukraine which is generally not known to many of us - at least among the people that I know of. I know that I'd visit there again. I'm sure most of us know that Stalin's years were brutal for eastern Europe, but we'd understand its true depth when we learn about what Ukrainians had to live through. The whole museum is a whole package of colorful Easter eggs, traditional embroidery, architecture, history through the eras of swords and guns, modern artworks, and achievements of Ukraine and Ukrainians in the US.

I have been going to their Easter Egg workshop every year for 6 years. I think I even got in before the pandemic shut us down. It is a tradition. I have donated a Ukrainian perfectly dressed doll for their exhibit. But now that there is a war in their country, they are too popular to be bothered with their regular supporters. I tried to sign up for the class well over a month in advance. They were full. I called to suggest more classes. Nope. I put up with teen age boys setting the table cloth on fire because they were playing around and no one was serious about the Ukraine and the Easter traditions. Now that they are a big deal, I am chopped liver.

One incredible collection of Ukrainian culture and history. Exhibits range widely in time frame and subject matter. Several cover recent history and current events and are (surprisingly) unbiased. The staff is knowledgeable on the subject matter and always excited to discuss the finer points of the exhibits on display.

Such a great museum for those with Ukrainian heritage or those wanting to learn more. Appears small, but they make very good use of their space. Very unique and educational with friendly staff. Will be visiting their rotating display again. Only $5 and one of the workers is even with you the entire time to further explain and answer questions

A small museum, but definitely worth 60 to90 minutes. Have visited the Mexican, Greek, African American and now this. They all say something about immigration to the US and thdn advocacy for their ethnicty. Americans understand little about other countries and this museum relates the history, its relations with Russia and that Cossacks came from here and were tbe first democratic group before the US anf French Revolution and Have a copy of tbeir constitution to prove it. I will mske a point to visit more of the ethic Musuems. a side benifit is they are generally small so you get a passionite free guide

Great little museum with Marchuk exhibition on a top floor. Halyna is a great storyteller who could interest an adult and a toddler (cossacks were the favorites). Marchuk art is just exceptional. Thank you for a lovely rainy Saturday:) Don’t forget to call in advance, with Covid there are limit for number of visitors and timed entry like in any museum now:)
